archangel1:I was in Nigeria from October '08 till March '09. I am from Anambra State. I think Peter Obi is the worst governor in the country. Anambrarians suffered a lot during the months preceding Xmas. The road from Head bridge to Awka was so bad that motorists stayed in traffic for endless hours. And no time will you pass there without having to go work on your exhaust pipe thereafter. Granted it is a federal road, but he should have sensed the priority and importance of that road to Anambrarians. Afterall, Ngige did some federal roads with Anambra state money and the federal govt. reimbursed it in Peter Obi's time. During that period, going to Awka from Onitsha was hell. I had to pass through 33Nkwelle road and come out to Nkwelle junction just before Umunya. The man only provides computers to secondary schools in remote villages who dont have constant power supply to use it. Recently in counting Peter Obi's achievements, he said he constructed the Onitsha stock exchange; will that building in GRA along 33/Nkwelle Otuocha road worth 40milion naira? That is Peter Obi's achievement. Building a house! There are other houses he built in Awka and called them achievements! Haba ! The man is only dumping Anambra money in banks! Did you not hear that when he was impeached that he left 33billion naira of Anambra money lying idle in banks? Virgy Etiaba came in and after 3 months before Peter Obi came back the money is gone. Now Virgy Etiaba's son Emeka just flagged off his campaign for anambra governorship race. Where do you folks think he got money. Can someone just tell us what Mrs. Obi has done apart from toilets? Toilets my foot! |
Tattooes firstly are branded on criminals and convicts of serious crimes so that the public will be wary of them. Now that is popular and fashionable, I am afraid it doesnt make sense to dilute or desecrate the body. If God in His infinite knowledge wanted us tattooed, I am sure it wont be difficult for him to do that. Moreso, people who come with birth marks are sometimes worried by it. Now people are giving themselves artificial marks in the name of fashion. Much as I am not gonna open my ear lobe to put a ring, I am too not gonna weave my hair nor put tattoo on my body. I cant even bear it with any chic to the point of marrying her. I am yet to see any serious lawyer, banker or politician with a tattoo. Tattooed people are constantly harrased at airports and in some cases are not considered for serious employment. Was at a wedding of a friend in Germany, a lawyer and most of his colleagues were present. I looked around to see any man with a pierced earlobe but none. Same cannot be said of a gathering of artisans and mechanics. Serious men dont wear tattooes and earrings and hair braids. My love ceases the moment I see someone tattoed. I am nopt that Liberal |

@ Poster; You belive in his programme ANIDS and that is why he should be re elected? Well I think one should educate you on what governance is! ANIDS is Anambra integrated devevelopment strategy and let me tell you, that is a bogus name for non performance. Governance is a social contract between the people and those elected. In that contract, he agreed to use our tax money to do the jobs for us. What has Peter Obi done since he was there to warrant another trust and another contract? |
I may be wrong folks but I am yet to see an online newspaper asking for payment to read its news stories. Someone should tell them that they can make more money by driving traffic to thier site and having much adverts because of traffic. In this age and time, information is becoming cheaper and cheaper and Punch is going to make thiers expensive. What do they even write about? Sycophancy to the highest order? How many times have they practised robust journalism? How many times have they sought to editorialise and streamline Nigerians' thoughts for the government? Have we had any scoop from them lately? Have they been investigative? Let someone remind them how boring thier news stories are and maybe they will have a rethink. Come to think of it? Thisday is the worst! All you see everyday on thier website is Thisday music awards showing one American singer or the other or you have thier ThisDay lecture. |
Nigerians problems and the problems with Nigeria has taken me into searching for solutions and assuming one is God, how will you go about all Nigeria or what will you do? Since men can never be God, what is your prayers and wish that God will do. MINE: I pray that the Almighty God will first of all make all our leaders, past and present accountable for the subjection and the subjugation of the Nigerian people in the difficulties we have been through over the years and then annoint a Joseph amongst us that will lead His people. This I pray through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen |
ononogbu:@ononogbu I dont know where you live but I guess you dont live in Nigeria. Even we that dont live in Nigeria but get to go home when we can still know that in that fuel area, Obasanjo was better. With Obasanjo we got fuel increases. With Yar' Adua, we got fuel decrease; from 70 naira to 65 naira and I told everybody around me then that this was deregulation through the back door. That is removing all the subsidies which obasanjo manged to keep for 8 years and allowing the forces of market and supply to determine the price of fuel. Now, I left Nigeria in March and as then 3000 naira was filling my tank. Now my wife says she will be lucky to get 10 liters of fuel at 3000 naira in the black market, cause it was not available at all in the filling station. In fuel, who now is better. I WARNED: BABA GO SLOW WILL SOON MAKE OBJ A SAINT |
ACHIKE UDENWA BROUGHT MRBIGGS TO OWERRI. Poor us! that is what that man read in his speech at his 100 days in office statement |
I will tell him to do Nigerians a favour and RESIGN on grounds of incompetence 1. Obasanjo was moronic but Yar' Adua's seemingly go slow and not doing anything is making Obasanjo a great President. With Obasanjo, we knew where we were on issues, but with Yar' Adua ![]() 2. For removing Nuhu Ribadu and having him demoted 3. For removing Dora Akunyili and trying to make her a talkative with the role of lie to Nigerians that the nation or country (depending as you see it) is moving forward whereas we are still where we are. 4. For making Achike Udenwa Minister of commerce who as a governor of Imo state, said in his achievements as governor of Imo state in his first 100 days in office in 1999, that he single handedly brought Mr. Biggs to Owerri, the state capital. Now as Minister of Commerce and industries, folks expect Mcdonalds. 5. For the handling or mishandling of the Halliburton case 6. For not getting Nigerian stadia ready for Fifa inspection thereby jeopardising our chances of hosting this years u-17 world cup 7. For not achieving none of the 7 point agenda 8. For going to campaign in Ekiti during the rerun of the guber elections last month 9. For lieing to Nigeria about his health. He is always in and out of hospital. 10. For not reappointing the reformer Chukwuma Soludo as CBN governor. It is now Sanusi 11. 2 years after being in Aso rock, he is yet to go on a familiarization tour of the states and get a first hand info on the probs and needs of the people. 12.For the rate of corruption going on now in Nigeria under his nose. 13. For still having Maurice Iwu there as INEC (nig. Ltd) Manager. The guy is a disgrace to democratic institutions the world over. Infact the list is endless but worst of all is that HE IS IN A SLUMBER. Aso rock is meant for a president but that guy is a sleeper. Infact I will ask him to resign as a grand father. He still has a chance of visiting Aso rock in the future. 2 state governors are marrying his daughters and the way power revolves round in Nigeria within families, dont be surprised you will be back as father in law during your daughters parturition. FELLOW NIARALANDERS; we shall do something about the electoral process in Nigeria. We shall use this medium to mobilise our people like we did in nigeriavilagesquare when a Nigerian was sent off the British airways flight and when a Nigerian deportee from Spain was murdered inflight. Let us stop allowing morons to get to Aso rock. The last american presidential election was all about the internet. We the youths now have the power. P.S PAT UTOMI, REUBEN ABATI, FASHOLA and SULLIVAN CHIME PLEASE GET READY FOR PRESIDENT IN 2011. THE YOUTHS OF THIS NATION WILL FLUSH THEM ALL OUT |

Interested in knowing; 1. the lowest interest rate I can get from a bank and the possible tenor of 15 years upwards 2. the possibility of paying off in the future without being attached to the maximum time on the tenor 3. the requirements to obtaining the mortgage 4. the repayment plan options 5. the repayment rate and system (variable or fixed) 6. the minimum and maximum sum available Glad to get good ideas and any links and contacts will be much more appreciated. Thank you |
how does one get this security passed invitation letter from the cargo handling companies? do u have an idea of one to contact? |
FOR WETIN? LET US START WITH ALL THE COUNCILLORS IN UR LGA THEN THE CHAIRMEN HOUSE OF ASSEMBLY MEMBERS COMMISSIONERS GOVERNORS REPS SENATORS MINISTERS AND ALL PAST AND PRESENT PRESIDENTS THOSE ARE THE REAL 419ers For betraying the social contract/trust we had in them by electing them And for all the others that stole the people's mandate Yar' Adua for sleeping on the throne |

A lot of arguments have come up here but I guess one thing remains clears in all these: His Excellency, Barr. Sullivan Chime is doing a marvellous work in Enugu state. We all know we have a social contract with him that if elected, he will do the jobs. But how many other elected governors have done such in the past in so short a time. The facts are there. So before one argues, you must have your facts. Go to Enugu recently and you will agree. I was there. Saw it and believe. |
I lived in Enugu all my life before moving. I was in Enugu again in April/May 2008 and came back again in October 2008 till January after Xmas. Enugu state governor, Sullivan Chime is a real gift from God. The poster is right. 80% of all the roads in Enugu metropolis were scraped off and rebuilt from scratch. I heard he even gets a 30 years guaranty from the contractors. And the good thing too is the solidity of the roads. Along ogui road is about 12inches from ground. Inside Abakpa which has been neglected for long, the man did all the roads. There is pipe borne water now. Infact THANK GOD FOR THE GIFT OF SULLIVAN. I am from anambra State. I think Peter Obi is the worst governor in the country. Anambrarians suffered a lot during the months preceding Xmas. The road from Head bridge to Awka is so bad that motorists stayed in traffic for endless hours. And no time will you pass there without having to go work on your exhaust pipe thereafter. Achike Udenwa in enumerating his achievements in 100 days in office said that he single handedly brought MrBiggs to Owerri. U see the kind governors wey we dey get. Abeg THANK GOD FOR THE GIFT OF SULLIVAN. The only state governor in Nigeria yet to embark on a foreign trip |

Great Question; Great thread. Most times, people like myself just go through threads and then learn without replying cause what happens afterwards leaves you imagining if all is well with everybody. Threads begin well and then degenerates into fights and quarrels that is why I like keeping put most times. But on this, I will like to contribute. To begin with, marriage is a thing of choice and no one is to blame another for making a mistake or for making the best out of it. So one can marry to a girl in diaspora or a girl in Nigeria. The choice is yours and likewise the chics too. 1, Where you marry and when you marry depends on what you want in life. 2, There have been cases of women married back home and brought abroad who misbehaved. 3, There are chics married back home who still misbehaved Therefore it is relative and there is no yardstick for measurement. But I guess the question in this thread arose 'cause maybe many went home and married. MAN IS A PRODUCT OF HIS ENVIRONMENT. In contributing on this therefore, most Nigerian chics abroad tend to imbibe the cultures of thier host countries so much that they now feel it is the best. And they call this independence and women emancipation, forgetting the values for a good family which is held in high esteem in our land back home. Soomeone on this thread wuoted the bible and said FOR TWO SHALL BECOME ONE and said it is a 50-50 thing. I will like to point out to the person that in God's punishment to Eve in Genesis 3:16, He told that I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conceptio; and in sorrow thou shall bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, AND HE SHALL RULE OVER THEE. Most girls in diaspora fail to know this and consider men equals. This explains why the divorce rate is high over here. It doesnt have anything to do with the man's job. Taxi driversand mental health workers dont mean much but having good homes. The girls in diaspora have same responsibilities with guys here as thier families back home worry them for support just as they do to the men too. So diaspora is just about hussling to make it and be big. Another thing depends on if you want to live in diaspora for long. Some guys want to go home and some feel they have arrived in diaspora and so home? Only when they feel like. 90% of Nigerian girls in diaspora are hussling as you are doing. They all want to meet thier needs back home. Many still marry in diaspora and are living well and many are not. Same goes for guys that marry back home. There is also the cultural and traditional angle to it: If you always think home, then know that in most clans and homes back home, you are not married until your people marry with you. PS. I ONLY AIRED MY OPINION. YOU MAY NOT LIKE IT BUT PLEASE NO INSULTS. I WILL TAKE IT YOU ARE BEREFT AND INTELLECTUALLY AND ARGUMENTATIVELY LOW IF YOU INSULT. I WILL RESPECT YOUR OWN OPINION; SUPPORT OR OTHERWISE TO THIS |
thanks guys u are right ooooooo, which kind of money i'm looking for i'm not going i will manage whith this one i still young oooooo. but if my boss drop me down becose of saing no what will i do? ![]() |

Hi Nairalanders, My boss recently opened a new office in Baghdad and I have been detailed to go and man the place, recruit staff and build the company. The business manager in Kabul Afghanistan recently resigned. Please advice, do I go? My pay is good and there is prospects of increase. We operate international cargo and transfers. The business office in Kabul needs a manager. Anyone interested? Our pay is good and is in US dollars but the risk of Iraq and kabul is much? Wetin una think brodas and sisters |
In beginning to contribute to this and in trying to answer the questions raised, I will ask that we try to educate ourselves as much as we can on what led to the BIAFRAN WAR, HOW IT WAS FOUGHT, WHO FOUGHT WHO AND THE CONSEQUENCES AND AFTER EFFECTS OF THE WAR, THIS WAY WE CAN LEARN AND BE ABLE TO AVOID A REOCCURANCE. FOR US WHO WERE NOT BORN BEFORE THE WAR, I THINK THERE IS A LOT OF DOCUMENTED LITERATURE ON THE WAR. TO GET AN INSIGHT BEFORE YOU COMMENT, PLEASE TRY AND READ THE NIGERIAN REVOLUTION AND THE BIAFRAN BY ALEXANDER MADIEBO. THERE IS ALSO ANOTHER BOOK TITLED WHY WE STRUCK. DO TRY TO READ ALSO OJUKWU'S BECAUSE I AM INVOLVED AND FREDRICK FORSYTH'S EMEKA. THESE BOOKS WILL GIVE YOU AN INSIGHT INTO WHAT HAPPENED DURING THAT PERIOD. OJUKWU AND THE IGBOS DID NOT DECLARE WAR ON NIGERIA. WHAT HAPPENED WAS THAT AFTER THE MILLITARY COUP BY NZEOGWU AND HIS GROUP ON JANUARY 15TH 1966, THERE WAS A LOT OF FEELING AROUND THE COUNTRY THAT THE COUP WAS TARGET AFTER A SECTION OF THE COUNTRY BECAUSE MOST OF THE VICTIMS OF THAT COUP WERE NORTHERNERS. THERE WAS A COUNTER COUP IN JULY OF THE SAME YEAR AND SUBSEQUENTLY POGROMS ALL AROUND THE COUNTRY WHERE EASTERNERS WERE TARGETED, AMBUSHED AND KILLED. MANY OF THE IGBOS FLED NORTHERN NIGERIA AND THOSE WHO CAME BACK HAD SORDID TALES TO TELL. THE POGRAM WENT ON AND ON AND THE THEN GOVERNMENT OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA LED BY YAKUBU GOWON DID NOTHING TO STOP THE KILLINGS AND COULD NOT OFFER SECURITY AND PROTECTION FOR THE IGBOS. SOME WHACKED BODIES RETURNED HEADLESS AND SOME WERE LUCKY TO COME HOME WITH A LIMB OR AN ARM MISSING. SEEKING SOLUTION TO THE IMBROGLIO, OJUKWU AND GOWON HAD A CONFERENCE AT ABURI GHANA AND GOWON CAME BACK HOME TO INTERPRET THE RESOLUTIONS OF THE ABURI CONFERENCE DIFFERENTLY FROM WHAT THEY AGREED ON. OJUKWU MAINTAINED "ON ABURI WE STAND". I AM SURE THAT EVERY STUDENT OF HISTORY KNOWS THOSE WORDS ON ABURI WE STAND. GOWON REFUSED TO IMPLEMENT THE AGREEMENTS REACHED AT ABURI AND WHICH HE SIGNED. SO WHILE THE KILLINGS CONTINUED, THE IGBO ELDERS MET AND ASKED OJUKWU TO GIVE THEM PROTECTION SINCE THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT OF NIGERIA CANNOT OFFER THEM PROTECTION. THEY EMPOWERED OJUKWU TO DECLARE A SOVERIGN STATE OF BIAFRA AND GRANT THEM ALL THE RIGHTS AND SECURITIES THEY SEEK. THUS ON MAY 29TH OF 1967, THE STATE OF BIAFRA WAS BORN. SAME YEAR, THE FEDERAL FORCES OF THE NIGERIAN RFEPUBLIC ENTERED NSUKKA IN THE SOUTH EAST AND BEGIN TO BOMBARD THEM, SAYING THEY ARE FIGHTING TO KEEP NIGERIA ONE. WHAT ELSE WILL OJUKWU AND THE IGBOS DO RATHER THAN TO DEFEND THEMSELVES? SO LET IT BE NOTED, THAT THE IGBOS DID NOT STRIKE THE NIGERIAN REPUBLIC FIRST. LET IT ALSO BE NOTED THAT OJUKWU DID NOT TAKE THE IGBOS TO WAR UNPREPARED. THE IGBOS WERE FORCED TO DEFEND THEMSELVES FROM GENOCIDE. THE IGBO ELDERS ASKED OJUKWU TO DECLARE BIAFRA AND NOT THAT HE DID IT ON HIS OWN. I ADMIRE VICTOR BANJO A LOT. HE WAS IN PRISON IN THE EAST WHEN THE WAR BROKE OUT. OJUKWU RELEASED HIM AND FOUGHT ON THE BIAFRAN SIDE. IN WAR SITUATIONS AND CIRCUMSTANCES, MANY THINGS HAPPEN. VICTOR BANJO WAS TO LEAD THE BIAFRAN FORCES TO ENTER LAGOS. ACCORDING TO THE BOOKS I HAVE READ SO FAR, HE MARCHED ALL THE WAY TO ORE GALLANTLY WITH LITTLE OBSTRUCTIONS AND WAS TO CAPTURE LAGOS IN A FEW DAYS UNTIL HE STOPPED THE FORCES AND SATRTED DELAYING THEM UNNECESSARILY. THAT INVASION OF LAGOS WAS PLANNED FOR LONG AND BIAFRA GAVE IT ALL THEY HAD. IT HAS NEVER BEEN CLEAR UP TILL NOW WHAT VICTOR BANJO'S INTENTION WAS IN ABORTING THAT INVASION. THEY WERE CLEAR TO LAGOS AND SHOULD THEY HAD CAPTURED LAGOS, HISTORIANS BELIEVE THE WAR WOULD HAVE ENDED THERE AND THEN. SO IT REMAINS UNCLEAR HIS INTENTIONS OF ABORTING AGAINST THE ORDER HE HAD FROM HEADQUARTERS. VICTOR BANJO WAS TRIED AND CONVICTED OF TREASON. I DO NOT WANT TO BELIEVE THAT OJUKWU DID HIM IN INTENTIONALLY. IF HE DID NOT LIKE BANJO WHY DID HE RELEASE HIM FROM PRISON AND TRUSTED HIM WITH A COMMAND OF A SENSITIVE OPERATION TO INVADE LAGOS? I THINK WE SHOULD TRY TO READ THOSE BOOKS AND BE BETTER INFORMED. OJUKWU DID HIS BEST, GIVEN THE CIRCUMSTANCES. BUT WE PRASY SUCH THINGS WILL NEVER HAPPEN TO US AGAIN IN JESUS NAME AMEN. WHAT HAVE I LEARNT FROM WAR? HOW TO FEAR THE NEXT ONE EVEN MORE |
This is a reality. I think actually that there is a premeditated plan to keep the southeast out of the security system in Nigeria. from independence till date, no south Easterner has been the Inspector general of police and none has been the chief of army staff. Apart from Ebitu Ukiwe, I stand to be corrected if anyother south Easterner has held any of the highest position in the millitary, navy or Airforce. Well our indomitable spirit lives. While they are in the force, we are buying up the whole plots in Abuja and I tell you, 40% of the houses in Lagos are owned by the south easterners |
North East has had 3 IGPs, namely: Kam Salem (1966-1975); Adamu Suleiman (1979-1981); Gambo-Jimeta (1986-1989). North West has had 2 IGPs namely: MD Yusuf (1975-1979); Ibrahim A. LIKE COLD SUGGESTED, U HAVE NOT YET TRANSLATED WHAT YOU WROTE EARLIER ON IN ENGLISH [s]advice: be simple with ur choice of words and be straight to the point[/s] |
Different folks , Different strokes or the other way round! Anyway, I am already going home on the 16th of October and I plan to stay very very long before coming back , if I will ever come back. Europe and America are only good for visiting and not for living. Come shop, relax and go back home but to come live and hussle NO. I think it is out pof fear of the unknown that makes people not wanna go home. Most of us lived and schooled down there and were used to the systems so light or no light we can achieve a lot back home. The problem with Nigeria is caused by Nigerians. No be Oyibo do us na we do ourselves. Cassius told Brutus that "the fault dear Brutus is not in starts but in our selves for we are underlings." Men and women working apart created these problems and men and women working together can solve these problems. We know the kind of lives we live over here in Euroe and America. 90% of Nigerians in these places are not living well and that is the truth. Before u start talking , I have all the legitimate papers of staying here in Europe but men EAST OR WEST, HOME IS BEST. Try visiting home and see the effects of overstay in Europe or America has done to you. I know in your village there must have been somebody that came back after 40 years overseas empty handed and with grey hairs who is now living with regret. A lot of us have even overstayed and na shame make dem dey talk say dem no fit relocate back home finally. Like Okonkwo said in Things fall Apart when he came back from exile to meet his fathers home and clan all ruined "maybe I was away for too long" LET THAT NOT BE UR CASE GOD BLESS US ALL |
Which hotel do you stay when in naija ? i wil be going in november. so true about staying with someone u become automatcall responsible for their chop i know last year i stayed with my bro in lagos and right from day minute i was feeding everyone from girlfriends to boyfriend to even nearby neighbours ![]()

I stay mostly in Enugu and I am gonna be there till January. Man don dey tire for Europe. @Jacq what happened to our independence party in Europe. maybe we will do it in Nigeria then since you are coming down in November |
