Smooyis: Lol. What is the difference between 'mad' and 'crazy'? Even though he may not be the best candidate, i really think GEJ stands a better chance to retain his position.
He is not retaining anything!!! In this Nigeria? Where will the vote come from?
Majek Fashek is Jonathan typical type of supporter - hungry, irrelevant, igbo-smoking people, so no shaking.
The ex-president that invited IMF officials into CBN and paid white man creditors $16Billion cash whilst Nigerians suffered
This guy, something must be really wrong with you. I even thought you're a reasonable human being. See how you displayed your foolishness here and messed up like a baby all over the place. smh
doctokwus: I always like to seperate Buhari,d upright,God fearing man from Apc as a party. What Buhari's strategists shud b doing is bringing up strategies to get d electorate in his strongholds out.We shud assume for purposes of dscussion dat most part of d east and ss wud b manipulated to favor Gej,but wt 3 big states viz, lagos, kano,Borno being under control of apc,d numbers here wud neutralize whatever magic figure gej wud av in d east;afterall dese states no matter what can't produce more dan their registered voters. One way to do this is to stat canvassing for volunteers to mobilize voters to come out& guarantee dem of their safety.A massive turn out and vote for Buhari in Kano and lagos alone wud neutralize whatever gain gej wud make in d entire east and ss,bearing in mind rivers and edo state are likely neck and neck. Its not just by sitting & typing on nl supporting buhari, voters nid to b massively mobilized to guarantee d otuoke man goes back to d creeks come 2015.
gists: I am not a fan of OBJ at all. But give credit when/where it is due. Here is a more comprehensive list. It was here on nairaland before but somehow got missing:
Oga, why you come deface my thread with all this na? Nobody is gonna read all this crap, you could have summarize it in one post, or open your own thread na.
barcanista: Can you do a comparism among: between GMB, Gen Obasanjo, Gen Muritala, Gen Gowon, Gen Abacha and President Obasanjo? Using these parameters:
1. Fiscal Discipline 2. Corruption Fight 3. Executive and Government Indisciplne 4. The Economy 5. Security 6. Rule of Law 7. Dispensation of Justice 8. Sincerity 9. Internarional Reputation
I will appreciate an insult-free discuss
Oga barcanista, leave GMB matter here, I was small when all these people were president (was actually born in Shehu Shagari's regime). The opinion I gave was from democracy to now. So comment accordingly
GenBuhari: So basically what you are telling me is that he achieved nothing tangible in 8 years
Non of the things you listed is of anyisgnificance to the man on the street. brb no time now.
My friend, keep quiet. Wat do you mean? Would you have that China fone dat ur using to type this nonsense? What about all the people working in MTN, Glo, Airtel, Etisalat, Huawei, Multilinks and all dose type of companies? What about all the alaba boys or the guys in computer villages eating from unlocking fones, pimping fones, selling recharge cards and repairing mobiles, what about all the FDI from it and gains in internet coverage? Believe me, that policy alone has created millions of jobs and the only thing that would come close is when someone fixes power.
That is only one sector oo, I dont even want to go into banking or the other sectors. Why not argue intelligently? What affects lives more than food to eat. Is it raising fuel price or locomotive train or rebasing economy that has benefited Nigerians? Take time o
freelife4all: You are an enemy of Nigeria. Well, since this is your opinion, i don't need to abuse you. But to be frank you dey talk like person wen dem break in head. OgborOgbo.
Though I don't know what ogborogbor is, please can we have your opinion too with facts and figures? Who has been a better president since democracy?
So is it cabal Yaradua, or Jonathan that are not thieves? Remember, I was speaking comparatively. So tell me who has been the best then. Jonathan? Am talking about performance now. All past leaders have stolen, big stealing or small stealing!
kasiem: if obj is a great president why are u guys still telling us that pdp has been killing us since 1999? see irony of deceits
Oga, you seem to have a hard time distinguishing facts from politics. It doesn't matter the party I support, what i'm saying is Jonathan govt is the worst we have seen since democracy. That is the point you need to argue.
InvertedHammer: Every President that Nigeria ever had had a litany of achievements under his belt. But what they did was mere repainting of a dilapidated in structure instead of pulling it down and starting a new one with a sound foundation that could withstand a test of time.
If OBJ could not provide constant power, motorable roads and social services during his 8 years in the saddle, then his administration was a collosal waste of time and resources.
The other achievements you outlined was his act on a script given to him by his "masters". So let's not be carried away. Even Ghana that touted such achievements in the past are now realizing that you cannot dine with the devil and come out unscathed.
I beg to differ sir. Jonathan has no such achievements.
First of all, before I am crucified, let me say that what I mean is in a comparative sense rather than an absolute sense; I believe he's performed far better than the others since democracy, and here's why:
He established the EFCC, the ICPC and strengthened the Code of Conduct Bureau to fight corruption in Nigeria. Convicting for the first (and only) time, high-ranking government officials like Tafa Balogun and Alams, albeit politically motivated, I wish the tempo could have been maintained subsequently.
When he left office in 2007, the growth rate of the economy had risen from 3% to 7%, making Nigeria one of the fastest growing economies in the world. He did this by finding really excellent people to work with him eg Ngozi, Ezekwesili, Ribadu, Soludo, El-Rufai, Dora etc. He discovered all these people and convinced them to contribute their quota.
The Nigerian foreign reserve was only $2 billion when he came into office in 1999. By 2007, when he left office, the reserve had risen to a whopping $43 billion and he secured $18 billion debt pardons from the Paris and London clubs and got Nigeria free of debt!!!
The banking consolidation and reform, the telecom reform, the education reform (with Obi's UBE), the due process office reform, the servicom reform, the privatization reform, the NAFDAC and NDLEA reforms and finally, keeping the peace, both internally and in our international peace-keeping mission that always brought us glory, were all from this administration. I wonder how we were surviving without GSM in 1998, and how many jobs that revolution created. All this in 8 years, while Jonathan has been there since February 2010 (4 years plus now), with absolutely nothing to show for it except corruption and insecurity. Jonathan's locomotive trains I think is a good start sha.
He wasn't perfect, but I think to have achieved all these is somewhat commendable, especially the institutional strength he built in the country. I'm always in tears when I compare that to this near-imbecilic government that people are shouting all over the place about because of rice and beans they will get. We deserve much better.
InvertedHammer: / A person who fails to plan; plans to fail.
The fact that Nigeria cannot plan beyond any current year is a shame on itself.
When the leaders mouth off about vision 2020, they have no clue about the subject of discussion.
Heck. OBJ is more than 70 years. Do you really think he cares about life 20 years from now?
But Nigerians will form Team OBJ, Team GEJ, Team GMB and sing kumbaya!
Nigeria should keep praying that Russia bows and comes to the negotiating table else the slide in oil price will continue--Thanks to Saudi Arabians, Hedge Funds and US Government.
Nigerians are in for a very long thing, as the street smarties would always say.
\
Oga, let me beg you for something. When you make such analysis, don't put OBJ's name there. He has done more for this country than we really knew at the time. Telecom revolution, na him, banking revolution, na him, even the excess crude account and sovereign wealth funds for crude savings, na him do am before all this useless govts came and depleted everything.
Debt cancellation na him, EFCC and ICPC formation nko, na him still do am. I never thought I will say this, but OBJ has been our best president, at least so far. Looking at the cluelessness and near-imbecility of this GEJ, it is now I know how much OBJ tried.
OBJ ruled 8 years at very low oil prices, by next year GEJ will complete almost 5 and half years and upon the astronomical oil prices, has absolutely nothing to show for it except death, destruction, corruption, mismanagement and bankruptcy. What a shame.
Rockyheight: I wonder what party this renowned chief finacier was coming from, before joining PDP a few weeks back! Jaytee01 little prick do u know?
Mumu, he left from APC. The question you should be asking is what made him so uncomfortable in APC that he had to run away, and what is making him so comfortable in PDP now that he is able to be in Mr President foreign delegations? That is what you should be asking.
APContherun: I need Ozekhome and the other lawyers to carefully interpret section 68(1)g ofthe constitution and how it applies in the case of Tambuwal.
Mumu, is it the job of lawyers or the police or the presidency to interpret the law? or is it the job of the courts? why not wait till there is a court injunction before taking such stupid action?
I thought they said they have killed this guy. But this person in the video looks and talks exactly as Shekau now, or is this an impersonator?
Whatever the case though, I believe Badeh need to at least rescue his hometown.
Also, as for the girls, i think we need to accept that they are not together in one place again, but scattered all over, married to different boko haram people. So no need to negotiate, just kill them all. Why will a government be scamming the people? very embarassin sumthin
A prayer for relief, in the law of civil procedure, is a portion of a complaint in which the plaintiff describes the remedies that the plaintiff seeks from the court. For example, the plaintiff may ask for an award of compensatory damages, punitive damages, attorney's fees, an injunction to make the defendant stop a certain activity, or all of these.
1. This is criminal law, not civil. 2. Diezani would be the defendant, not the plaintiff (or rather, not the prosecution, as it would be a criminal case) 3. She is not seeking damages from the court, but begging them not to investigate and prosecute her.
While it is indeed a legal term, that's not how it is being used in this context. They meant that she is literally praying not to be investigated. Or, they don't know what a legal prayer is.
Actually yes. You did not read the body of the article, nor the source I guess.
They are right in saying in this context, "prayer" is legal. Here is a quote from the article:
The minister, the Ministry of Petroleum Resources and the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation are the plaintiffs in the suit. Their proposed amendments are seeking additional prayers to their suit. The fresh prayers are to seek the court’s pronouncement on whether by the virtue of provisions of section 88 of the constitution, the National Assembly has the power to conduct oversight functions of probing government’s Ministries Departments and Agencies after receiving a petition to that effect.
