Sure. I don't have any issues with using free materials or encouragimg folks to source for free materials especially as we don't have high purchasing power in the country. Even me myself I used free YouTube materials to develop my skill set. So no I'm fine with people hunting free materials. I just wanted to point out that it's also great for folks to pay for materials if they can afford to. We are good fam. And great contribution to the discussion

I understand that there are "free" materials and a lot of Nigerians love these so-called "free" stuff. Nothing wrong with that. But saying it's a problem to purchase materials that the OP could obviously afford. That I don't understand.

Let's learn to normalise purchasing content that will make us better. Instead of of mentality of being "sharp" and hunting "free" materials that cost someone time and money to prepare. Nothing is ever free. Not even in free town. You always pay. Either by offering your personal data and being a target for ads. Or paying outright and being somewhat liberated from ads.

No one ie being "smart" when they hunt down "free" materials. You ALWAYS pay. May not be you forking out money for the material. But you ALWAYS pay

I am going to be 28 this year, I bought two courses on udemy last year, first one is about designing, I have finished it, I had some challenges but I overcame although I feel I'm not good enough to work with my design skills, now I'm into the second course( fullstack development) and it has been tedious and stressful, I used to be intelligent when I was in school, stopped at ND because they was no money to further my education and get HND, instead of staying idle I decided to learn those skills, now I'm not grasping anything, I'm learning and giving my best but no results, I just can't grab it, I don't know wether it's because I am too old or b because I am bad at math, pls advice me on how to to actually know this, I want to be proficient enough to know it instead of googling and using chatgpt to bail myself out always.

You have a new follower, our stories is similar honestly, my drive to learn a skill is to be financially free, like I need to start earning consistently asap otherwise something will happen, I worked hard to buy my laptop, I feel like telling my story and the hardship I faced but I won't do that right now because there's no point, I'd do that when I return triumphant, when I achieve my purpose, if you don't mind I am open to being friends because at this point I need all the contact, mentorship and help I can get, I don't fancy the idea of begging for monetary help and being pitied, so when I try to get in touch with someone just know I'm not coming to beg for money or be needy, I just need support not to feel alone, I have been mentioning qtguru for same reason but baba no send me, I also follow his diary too, worked hard to get the money for courses, I am done with designing, now I'm doing fullstack, please I need mentors, please.

The income threshold should not matter much if the couples are industrious, committed to the marriage, and genuinely loves and want to help each other grow. That's the true meaning behind the ´´For better for worse´¨ pledge.

For example, you can be a businessman earning 1M naira a month, and a life-changing event happened (eg war, accident, loss of revenue via govt regulations, etc). Should divorce now become the automatic consequence due to loss/reduction of funds?

The reason for marriage is not to be happy, although happiness can be a feature. Marriage is simply how two individuals come together, making themselves stronger to navigate this sad journey called life.

There will be ups and down, and if one is going to just checkout with every life's challenges, then don't get married. It's not a place for soft-life girls or irresponsible men. Its a place for two fighters teaming up as one, to become formidable.

I think the adjective 'simp' is arguably the most misused adjective on this forum, and perhaps on social media. I recall when, some time ago, I was ill and my significant other washed my clothes (hand wash o) he laughingly remarked "if my guys see me washing your clothes, they will call me a simp".

That got me thinking. Does showing care to your partner make you a simp? The toxic social media Alfamails seem to think so. The same 'alpha males' wey no dey give their mama monthly allowance, talk less of her holding their net worth for them, but are here shouting "Hakimi is our hero!" (we are not ready for THAT conversation).

The truth of the matter is that when it comes to marriage, Nairaland has turned it into war between men and women. Indeed it has become so disgusting that I wonder if I am in another world.

When I look at the life of myself and my friends, I wonder if we live in a different world from the world of most Nairalanders, a world where men are stingy and women think only about money. Where men have sidechicks, and women have babies for other men and pass it off on their boyfriends.

You need to pay school fees, need to pay for food, need to pay for car maintenance, and new car, house rent or mortgage fees, clothes for the children, furniture, repairs, even bedsheet. So, why won't women and men be looking for money. Is looking for money a sign that one is greedy or a sign that one needs to pay school fees before 3 pm tomorrow or else little Elsa would be kicked out of school for fees?

Are not men's relations too looking for money as well, and putting pressure on family.

Women are suffering too much on this site, and so also are men. And on this thread, women too are suffering. Yes, GOD knows there are materailistic women. God knows that. But when a woman needs money, is it for materialism all the time? Yet these online heroes think that when a woman asks for money, it is because she is being greedy.

Honestly, I am a very conservative person. There are some cultures around the world where it is perfectly normal for wives to be provided as 'entertainment' to guests. So many of such stories have been shared here (I remember one particular account by MrBrownJay), and when you guys hear such, you're always so greatly excited.

You always fantasise about going to communities where this is in practice, so you can be offered a man's wife and engage in a threèsome.


But the moment you're presented with alternative cultures which are slightly less patriarchal than others, where it is the wife-to-be who gets to have one last sex, or some form of apparent advantage over the man, you will flare up.

You should know where to draw the line between your cultural ideals which run counter to Christianity principles.

You cannot celebrate and cheer at myriad sexual and cultural practices in the world (child marriage, for example) but want to draw the line at and insist on feminine 'dignity' and purity in the same cultures.

It is Christianity that places the biggest emphasis on virginity, for both one man and one woman.

But you people will want to be treated like traditional Lords by a Christian woman.

So stop cherry-picking which "weird" cultural practices to acclaim or condemn as you wish.
