pls igbo, appreciate the fact that igbo where in the south-west and benefited from free education, also the hausas and many other tribes in the south

but the igbos and the southerners benefied from this policy from a great man, which i think an intelligent person must like because awolowo was the lest tribal person after balewa

at least thanks to him the economy was not run down after the war

thank GOD

@Chyz,

and why wouldn't it be true. Do your own research and goggle the item. Ojukwu cannot refute the content of that letter or that he never wrote such.
Hold up don't toot your horn too much. I never said it wasn't true but I am keeping an open mind. I will even save the link and discuss it with other Igbo. Like I said before I have nothing against yoruba. I think all african tribes have a right to rule how ever it wants on its own people in their own nation.

onlytruth,dede1 and co don't see this. its so sad cry
Definitely an eye-opener. Although as an Igbo I still would have preferred Biafra. The Ibibio too because one of their own was the next in charge or the VP, Effiong. And the comment on the Ijaws, i don't respect them for the move that they made. When I say move i mean them agreeing to take the our land of Opobo given to them by the nigerian government in exchange for their help. Opobo is now called "Ijawland" angry.

pls i want you to read this article and tell me what you think?it was provided by t9ksy.

http://www.dawodu.com/biafra1.htm

let me know if igbos would have allowed it on their land
Very scary shocked. I'm sure now that Banjo purposely worked for the Nigerian army through Biafra to sabotage. If what was written were true definitely the Igbos would have fought against it as well. It sounded more like we wanted to enslave the west under his rule. If what was written is indeed true.

Awo was the first to introduce free education in the country. At the time, he offered the same policy to the northern masses however the sardunna vehemently opposed him whilst Zik made fun of him. Zik later offered the same thing to his people. Note tho' that most of those igbo people now calling awo names, their relatives probably had their education free in the western region.

Regardless of what others might say, Awo will always be reverred by the yorubas. We shall always give thanks to our Oludumare for providing us with the person of Awo at that auspicious time in our chequered history. We will always be grateful to him for putting paid to igbo's hegemonic ambition in yorubaland. In essence we yorubas understand why the igbos hate Pa awo, so much. Much more than the northerners who have been killing their people as far back as 1945 and are still massacring them at the mere drop of the koran or the eclipse of the moon.

Hey, its their perogative to hate Awo but we yorubas love him.  grin
Thanks for supporting my claim. wink. Alj haram, read his post despite all his spiteful comment he couldn't help but admit the truth about awolowo providing education only for the WEST,not EAST or MIDWEST buck o. grin

Ask what? something I already know?LOL. There was no South, SW,SE, or SS. There was East, West, and North. Midwest came later on because they felt they were being marginalized my the yoruba.Awolowo was the Premier of the Western region, meaning he hand made no decisions for the East, Midwest, or North. Is it starting to make sense to you now or should i hand you a light bulb?

Udenwa, Ararume defect to ACN, as Tinubu, others storm Imo

Written by Joe Nwachukwu, Owerri Thursday, 04 November 2010

All necessary arrangements have been concluded by the Alliance for Good Governance in Imo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to defect to Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN).

The group, which is led by the immediate past governor of the state, Chief Achike Udenwa, and Senator Ifeanyichukwu Ararume, is pulling its supporters out of the PDP to ACN.

ACN chieftains are expected to storm Imo State on a date to be disclosed by the party.

Those expected in the state are a presidential aspirant, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, the governors of states being controlled by ACN, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole of Edo State, Mr Raji Fashola of Lagos State and Dr Kayode Fayemi, Ekiti State.

Also expected in Owerri are Dr Chris Ngige and Senator Bola Tinubu.

Their defection to ACN was as a result of alleged problem with the PDP in both Imo State and national headquarters of the party in Abuja.

It will be recalled that the group boycotted both local government elections in the state and recently-concluded wards and local government congresses, claiming that issues relating to the two elections were before the court.

http://politicalwonders..com/ I saw this online I could not believe it. I fail to realize that I am in the modern world of the 21st century I wonder when on earth will Nigeria produce her own female president with all the chaos we are having at hand I think that will be a very difficult. only a country with good democracy like Brazil can can produce a female president not ours. I hope our country will change for the better. here is the blog I read that:http://politicalwonders..com/
We can only pray for a female president in nigeria. If the prayer is ever answered let it not be a female imposed by the West like what happened to Liberia. Me i personally would like Ngozi Okonja-Iweala to become president.

sorry, that one step has been taken for years. Shagari aministration deported 1 million immigrants at once and this deporting thing has been continuous with no yielding result yet. So its nothing new. They will just cross back into nigeria with ease no problem.

GOD bless you!!! for the first bolded point!!! if it was the yorubas that invaded their land, ojukwu would have done the same if not worse

@ second bolded

we did not invade. they came to ORE, where the yoruba land starts and we had to defend our territory.
Jason, I dont know man. Your comment just made me question your claim of Itsekiri. You just said the Ore is where yoruba starts. Do you not see itsekiri as yoruba? you said we had to defend OUR territory. . . huh

I'm not sure the initial plan was to march to lagos to crush the headquarters otherwise i think Banjo wouldn't have agreed to fight for Biafra, he could have been made to do so against his will. However, it could have been the initial plan and Banjo could have been planning to sabotage it all along. All in all, his action is back stabbing but at the same time understandable because of his love for his people. Isn't that what Ojukwu was fighting for "the love of his people"?

The march on Ore was a reaction to their invasion of the midwest. You all stepped foot on our land first, both Igbo and Ijaw lands. That's fact so there shouldn't be any finger point when it comes to going on the other tribe's land. Remember Biafra didn't bring war to nigeria, nigeria brung war on Biafra.
PoliticsRe: Chinua Achebe - What Nigeria Means To Me by chyz(m): 6:29pm On Nov 04, 2010
For the Igbo: There was nothing wrong with the Yorubas protecting their land from being invaded. Did you actually thing that Banjo wasn't going to betray the Biafra when they wanted to enter on his people's land? You would have done the same.

For the Yoruba: You cannot point fingers on the invasion of land. The Yorubas invaded Igboland first. Each divison consisted majority of it's indigenes so the yoruba divison came on Igbo soil when they entered the Midwest(The Igbo part).

For the Hausa: You are hypocrites, you were the first to go for secession from nigeria until the US and Britain told you about oil and promise your region power but when the Igbo called for secession you said nigeria is ONE and igbos do not have the right to leave.
