dayokanu:Just when I try to give you people a little credit you yorubas always same so dumb sh*t, lol.smh. The reason I didn't go into detail's because I would think that literates wouldn't include places like lagos(a high populated and multiculture state) and, but then again I guess it was my fault for assuming that you weren't dumb. My bad. ![]() |
The states with the most illiterates registered to vote more than the states with the most literates.smh. Nigeria is a joke! ![]() |
There has to be up to 2,000,000 people in Aba alone, so how is the population of the whole state only 2,833,000? ![]() |
Becomrich, you dey look for my trouble;but, you are right, I am a northerner. I am from Delta North, so I guess that makes me a northerner. ![]() |
soldee:And then Emeka will use his other two voters cards to block that Buhari vote and add to GEJ. ![]() |
There's a reason why Canada, U.S., and Mexico aren't one country.Nigeria should take a leaf. |
fstranger3:O how i love the smell of a mad and frustrated Yoruba man.Like a breath of fresh air, lol. ![]() |
Wadeoye:hmm. . . |
fstranger3:The hausas in Igboland can't read(nothing is written in arabic, hausa,or fulani ), write, not to talk of speak basic english. The yorubas are gatemen in SE, few store owners(very few). ![]() |
afam4eva:We definitely are the single largest ethnic group in nigeria. . .FACT ![]() |
fstranger3:um, gaymonster3, I dont think the guy wearing the green halloween costume in your link spent 8yrs in office let alone a day. ![]() |
Abagworo:Lets face it, GJ will get most votes in the SW, if not most, then half. Everyone in the SW is not yoruba, and every yoruba isn't going to vote buhari. Also igbos voted en-masse in NW(so unless they rig buhari in, which i suspect they will, he's going to have a hard time). |
I guess that explains the large registered voters in the north. ![]() |
fstranger3:All Igbos weren't rallied behind one person as they are jonathan so you link is irrelevant, you can thank us for abiolas vote as well . Also, I'm guessing abiola was going to a halloween party that day. ![]() |
Voter registration: Groups commend Ndigbo in North By Onoja Audu Correspondent, Jos Igbo Democratic Forum (IDF) has been commended for its role in the mobilization of Ndigbo in the North that fully participated in the just concluded voter registration in all the 19 Northern states and the Federal Capital Territory Abuja. Various groups and individuals of Igbo extraction in the North, who spoke with Daily Independent, commended the massive turn out of Ndigbo in the just concluded voter registration. It would be recalled that Igbo Democratic Forum had late last year organized the first Igbo in Northern Nigeria Political summit in Jos preceding the voter registration. Reviewing the participation of Ndigbo based in the North in the exercise, a group of intellectuals based in the Northern part of the country led by Dr Kenneth Ozoilo said, “This was about the first time the Igbos would make it a point of duty to come about en masse and participate in voter registration with zeal and enthusiasm.” Ozoilo on behalf of the group noted that the usual apathy towards such exercise has waned and more Ndigbo have come to realize the essence of participating in the exercise in places where they are resident. IDF had last year undertaken a campaign educating Ndigbo on the need to participate in the voter registration, pointing out the fact that they would not have any basis to complain if they do not participate in deciding the leadership of the country and of where they reside. President of the Igbo Democratic Forum, Chief Chidi Ndu, had at different fora emphasized that the Ndigbo must stop relocating from their bases in times of election to go the South East to register or to vote but stressed that since they are part and parcel of the places they are resident and contribute to the economic development of those places, they must remain and not only vote but even contest political positions. Another group made up students from South Eastern Nigeria noted that such enlightenment campaign and education of the electorate is what has led to the massive participation of Ndigbo based in the north in the last registration and encouraged the IDF to step up the campaign to the next level by ensuring similar success in participation in the general elections. Spokesperson of the students, Emeka Ani, commended the IDF for what he described as a job well done and urged both the federal and the 19 state governments in the north to support the cause of the IDF to bring about national integration and development. http://www.independentngonline.com/DailyIndependent/Article.aspx?id=29173 |
onye_ngbu:If the election is free and fair, the Igbos will be the ones to decide who wins the presidency. We have the population spread throughout the country and in the millions in almost all states. |

Clearly Goodluck Jonathan knows nothing about economics. Not surprising because I'm pretty sure economics is not part of the curriculum for zoology. Can't blame the economic advisor,if any, because I'm sure he/she was a carpenter or a wrestler before they were given the position. |

This article is about our problem with ethnic identity which it describes in the write up. I am Igbo, not ijaw,urhobo/Isoko, or itsekiri. Igbo Kwenu! ![]() |

CBN to IMF: We won’t devalue naira Monday, 21 February 2011 00:00 The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has disagreed with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on the latter’s advice that the Federal Government should devalue the naira and make it flexible. The IMF advised Nigeria to devalue its naira last week after concluding the 2010 Article IV Consultation with Nigeria. But in a text message in response to our reporter’s question, CBN governor, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, said though a formal statement on the bank’s position on the matter will be issued this week, he disagrees with the IMF position. Asked if the central bank was thinking of devaluing the naira, Sanusi said, “No Idris and I have already said so on CNBC () and I told the IMF I didn’t agree with them. We will issue a formal statement next week (this week).” This was not the first time the IMF was asking the country to devalue its currency. In 1986, the IMF/World Bank asked Nigeria to devalue the naira, open its market and liberalize its economy. The result was the economy reform of the Structural Adjustment Program (SAP). Analysts say effect of SAP has brought about the economic crisis which the country is yet to correct. The Nigerian naira currently exchanges N150 to the US$ officially and about N157 to the US$ at the parallel market. Last week, the IMF said: “Directors took note of the staff’s assessment of an overvaluation of the naira, and stressed that greater exchange rate flexibility would prevent one-way bets in the foreign exchange market and cushion external shocks.” It said that the economic outlook of the country remains positive and risks are generally balanced. It projected Nigeria’s economy to grow by 7 percent in 2011, and to moderating gradually in subsequent years. It also projected inflation to decline to 9 percent by the end of 2011. Inflation rate climbed from 11.8 percent in December 2010 to 12.1 percent as at January 2011. IMF warned that if the National Assembly increased the N4.2 billion 2011 budget currently before it, inflation will worsen. It said that inflation has been stuck in the low double digits for the past two years and foreign reserves have been falling because the CBN has focused on maintaining exchange rate stability and low interest rates. http://dailytrust.dailytrust.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=12490:cbn-to-imf-we-wont-devalue-naira-&catid=2:lead-stories&Itemid=8 |
