temyb:
Hello house,my husband just told me that it's likely i&my mother in law use Qatar airways which is kind of cheap. Please anyone have an idea what their POE at Doha is like. Heard it's not so friendly,I actually wanted Emirate but since we are 2 going it's not.possible again. Plus please is their seat comfortable

Yes, Madamu also had issues renewing her visa. Look up her post from last week I think.

mismarshal:
Please has any previous MIHS mum had issues with visa renewal or not allowed entry into the US by immigration stating that the cost for the maternity package was discounted by the government hence they made use of government funds.

And how were you able to resolve it.
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 4 by cindermum: 2:57pm On May 01, 2016
I think it depends on the officer you meet. She only showed us our bags on d screen and asked why we had an empty box in one of our boxes and I just said it's for shopping bck to nig. Then she asked us for the names of the foodstuff we had so I said (egusi, dry pepper and ogbono) and she said ok. Didn't bother going with noodles cos I read here that they seize it most times.

sugah:
Siezed all the food at Abu dhabi? cry Na wa o.

Cindermum what kind of food stuff did you carry please?

I really hope you get PTA cos we bought black market and trust me I still dwell on the money lost. We would ve had more cash now if the useless banks we use gave us when we desperately needed it. Now I'm always angry to spend the money. U still ve sometime and hopefully things would ve gotten better.

sugah:
That pta is giving me sleepless nights but dh has made up his mind he is buying black market.

End of june or early july......

Continuation:

CBP @ Abudhabi: why are you going to the US?
Husband: My wife and I are going to have our baby.‎
CBP: Why not UK or Canada? Why did you choose the US?
Husband: Basically, for better healthcare. This is our first and we won't like to compromise the safety of our baby. As such, we both decided that we Would rather have the baby where we are certain of state of the art medical facilities and also where we are sure that if there is any complication we will get a swift response.
CBP: he took my finger prints and pic and asked husband where he works
Husband: I own my business. I work as a business IT consultant and bla bla bla
CBP: How much are you traveling with?
Husband: 7100 and we have our debit cards
CBP: Takes husband's finger prints  and pic, and said I will have to send you to immigration for further verification. Then he called a number and someone came to get our passports and told us to follow him.

Secondary inspection

After 5mins at the waiting room‎
CBP: how much do you have with you ?
Husband : $7100 and our debit cards which we showed her immediately. ‎
CBP: How much do you have on your card?
Husband : Equivalent of 13k usd and was about to show her his bank statement but she said nvr mind.
CBP: So what do you do?
Husband: I'm an IT consultant and he explained what he does
CBP: Can I have your complementary card?
Husband: I'm sorry I don't have it here but my business reg cert is with me and my tax ID card. She collected all and also asked us to give her our return ticket. Then she said go wait outside.
CBP: she came outside to meet us and asked where we intend to stay and we told her. We gave her the reservation and she left with it.
CBP: Called us in again and asked why we chose Chicago
Husband: Basically when we decided to have our baby in the us, we had two states in mind " Chicago and Houston" ....As such, we went online to look for hospitals with good customer reviews and good Obgyn records. Hence, we decided to use this hospital as the fee is what we can afford comfortably.
CBP: did you apply for this visa via dropbox?
Husband: No, we went to the embassy
CBP: Did you inform the VO about your intention?
Husband: yes, we did.‎
CBP: Smiles, says I stamped you both 6 months in case you require more time (we told her 10weeks when she asked).‎
Husband n I: Thank you madam.

Hi All,

Just arrived chicago about an hr ago... we flew etihad airways and the flight was damn longgg. Took us 7hrs to abudhabi, 8hrs transit, and 14hrs to chicago cry cry @ 35weeks... while we were waiting, that was how one oyinbo came to call all of us waiting to travel to the US at the lounge in abudhabi. CBP in Abudhabi oh, then gave all of us landing cards to fill and said we will be called shortly by immigration. He explained that once we are cleared in abudhabi, we will just go straight to baggage claim in Chicago. He said it's a new service called US preclearance (kindly Google). To cut the story short, they built a terminal for this purpose and it's terminal 3. We all queued and when it got to my turn, na secondary inspection sure pass. Husband n I were the only Nigerians and some Indians. It wasn't so bad but that 15mins I spent there was the longest 15mins mins of my life... in my mind I was just like this ppl won't even ve mercy on me that is a first timer to even see America na for abudhabi they go send somebody back. Lol. Will post my transcript shortly after this so this post won't be too long.

@ Biollar,

Sequel to LadyG's response, you should also let her know your company name and what you do there just in case she's asked. My colleague's mum also applied and she was asked ;

1) where she works (I'm an educationist in ***sch and I have worked there for 20yrs)
2) where her husband is and the number of kids she has
3) wher all her kids are too.
4) sponsor

She wasn't asked about her financial status as she already told the VO that her daughter was sponsoring.

Good Morning ppl,

Please does anyone have an idea about apartments in Chicago? I actually wanted to stay at intown suites for a period of 10weeks but the reviews I saw online are really bad and cannot waste $1,360 monthly for a crappy plc.

Thank you.‎

P.S

I mailed a lot of property companies and most of them said that the least they can give out is 3mnths and all unfurnished. ‎

@ girlloom : these ppl are all shades of shady... see the husband playing script that the ssn would arrive that night shocked shocked and it did. Why didn't he just tell you that twas with him if he had nothing to hide? As advised by everyone, just ensure you contact IRS. They have confirmed that they r not responsible ppl, so show no mercy.

TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 3 by cindermum: 8:41pm On Mar 14, 2016
Hi princessbee,

1) if you have been reading since last year, then you shouldn't have assumed that you will need 20m in your acct to birth in the US. Having said that, I strongly think you should pay a hospital for ur next application as advised by theleakytrible.

2) Why do u think you were refused cos u don't ve ties here? Do you ve a job? Are you married?

3) Did the VO ask you these questions? Did you make an attempt to show the VO your employment letter and marriage cert?

princessbee:
I have been reading all along since last year. I was scared I will be asked to av a #20M bamk statement, which we don't have. And Dr F of oakbend says he doesn't give an invitation letter. He also doesn't take payments through bank without seeing u in person.
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 3 by cindermum: 8:52pm On Mar 08, 2016
Yes, you can.. I used the hospital's account analyst name as my contact person and used the hosp address as destination.

ujan:
someone should help me out.is it ok for me to fill my doctors name and address as contact person in the USA when filling ds-160
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 3 by cindermum: 6:43am On Mar 02, 2016
Hi,

LadyG responded to someone yday regarding this. See below:

1. No it isn't possible for your mother and wife to apply on the same form. Each person will fill her ds 160 and pay visa fees. For detailed info, please refer to the us website. They can get the same interview time and MAY be interviewed together. Families are interviewed together. I do not know. If a MIL and daughter in law will be construed as family. Basically, all man should tidy em side in case of incasity.

2) when I applied I used the hospital address as my destination and I also used someone's name at d hosp as d contact person.

jet2biz:
Hello Everyone,

I want to appreciate everyone for sharing vital information and guideance for free. I started following up this thread Jan and it has been helpful so far. After contacting several hospitals which i got from here and from great mothers whom answer me on PM. I have been able to be in communication with Dr. La and they have been very helpful. They requested for a Non-Refundable fee of $150.00 to book an appointment which I did over the phone by using my wife card and the receipt and acknowledgement for receipt of payment was sent. Now i am waiting to get the Appointment Letter.

Now, Please i need a clarification.

I want to book for an appoiment/interview thinking using their Abuja consulate. My wife and our first baby who is a year plus and my sister who has the same surname with my wife will be the one to go for the interview. I want to know when filling the application, should i add my little sister, my wife and baby on same application?

Will i fill the hospital address as their destination on the application online? or i should locate a hotel and use the hotel address instead?

Please, i need clarification. As i am planning to book for an appointment with them this month.

Thank You!
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 3 by cindermum: 8:18pm On Mar 01, 2016
Hi,

If that's what you want to do, then you should get a letter from the bank stating that you are also a signatory to the acct.

Zumabeezle:
Thank u. Pls don't hide. my interview is on Tuesday. If i fix the money now won't it be somehow? I'll have to explain where i suddenly got the money from. Same reason why i didn't bother transferring the money to my personal account. They will know I'm doing it just for d interview. So isn't it better to just tell the VO upfront that my mum and i are sponsoring this journey and i have access to the funds in the account as I'm a co-signatory.
May God favour me.

Hello house,

am new on this forum, i really need your help concerning my giving birth in US. have applied before with my husband and our son but we were denied without reason. we have all our documents with us including doctor's appointment and receipt of deposit we have paid to the doctor.
The VO didn't ask about our document only asked us few quetions like

how lenght we intended to stay?
when i am going to be due ?
how much is it going to cost?
he just said sorry that at this time they are not bla bla bla...........
and he gave us this 214 form blue paper.
Now i want to reapply with our son because its on medical ground am going there to have my baby which is legal, have already paid for visa application. but yet to submit to have the interview date. now my question is, is there anything special that i need to fill because they are not checking any document we took. pls house i need really your urgent advice pls guard me on this and God will help you too ijn. i want to for the interview in first week in march.

Hello Madam, I'm sorry about the refusal and I really wish to help put you through with the next application. I'm not a visa guru but I can also b a part of your success story. My seniors here have said that you weren't prepared and I agree cos you didn't demonstrate that to the VO. How soon do you need to reapply?

Hello all, I have been following this thread for about a month now and we got the visa on Tuesday the 16th Feb 2016 in Abuja.

Here's my transcript;

Myself and husband: Good Morning sir
VO: Good morning and why are you going to the US?
Husband: To have our baby
VO: is this your first child
Husband: Yes, this is our first
VO: Please excuse me for some minutes (came back after about 2mins)
VO: can I have your correspondence with the hospital
Husband: yes please, gave him the printed conversation and the maternity package plan.
VO: spent sometime looking at the conversation and also went online to look up the name of the hospital and I guess to confirm other things on the maternity package plan.
VO: So what do you do?
Husband: I'm bleep bleep bleep
VO: and how much do you earn monthly?
Husband: I earn bleep which is a total of proceeds from bleep and bleep
VO: so how much will this trip cost both of you?
Wife: Handed the budget spreadsheet to him and this man started calculating and looking at some chart on the wall
VO: who will be paying for this trip
Husband : I will be responsible and he hands over his acct Statement and the VO only looked at only 4pgs and returned to us.
VO: so how much have you saved for this trip in total?
Husband: Bleep
VO: remind me again, where's this hospital in the US?
Husband & I: chicago illinois
VO: Ok and smiled then typed for another few seconds and said do you know that even if your child is an American citizen, you will be refused entry into the US and banned if you seek public aid blablabla..
Husband & I: yes we know (at this time we knew we had gotten it and my husband said Oya pack the documents lol)

VO: Alright. Congratulations. Your visa applications have been approved. Your passports will be ready for pick-up at the above collection center in 2-3 business days.

Husband & I: thank you sir.

Got outside and yanked my jacket off.
He didn't ask me any question sef after I prepared like I was going to write a professional exam and also warned my husband not to jeopardise my American dream.I made him do mock interview at least once a day.. I frustrated him with it lol.

‎Any Chicago mum due in May please?
