Yup, I agree with you... She must first have a preferred destination before you can ask for affordable hospitals around there. Otherwise, the affordable one I know is in Alaska. Fyorgyn: Eh,
Affordable is a relative term and the US is very big.
The reason this thread exists is to provide the very answers you seek... So, Yes we do know a lot of affordable hospitals in the US and they have been discussed extensively here but it is very important that you dig out the answers yourself.
All the best |

overlord77: Why single out ORD, were the CBP officers there given a different kind of training or is there something I don't know? Actually, I think they were given a different kind of training lol because they are hostile. Even if I get a free ticket to use that Poe I'd rather just stay back till I can afford to buy another one. |

TWoods: Very unprofessional from the cbp officer. But it is even more obvious that these officers read these threads. Having a baby in the US is not illegal but ONLY because the US Congress has not explicitly outlawed it.
My guess is you will have a very difficult time renewing your visa. I’d be less worried what the officer said as much as what she wrote. The next VO who interviews you will see that. Chances that you will be able to get your visa renewed through dropbox are close to nil. True story , it's going to b safe to just go for the interview as opposed to Dropbox. |

Hospitals in newyork aren't affordable. Maybe u should consider newjersey. At least you will still get like $7500 for everything in total. As for NY Ur budget has to be around 11k+. However, you can contact kings county hospital in Brooklyn. They may give you some discounts if you walk in and they strike out some things for you. Wish you all d best. Eilenora: Same here oooo. I don do research tire. All d ones am seein are 8k and above for hosp alone |

Paying before your interview isn't an advantage. Just make sure you have the total cost from the hospital and Dr ( add this to your budget sheet) with your email correspondence. Paying could only be an advantage for you at the port of entry. happney65: Okay,do you think paying the hospital bills before going for the interview is an added advantage to secure the visa or what do you think?
Thanks |

Ok so I have come to type my own transcript. Renewed my visa in Jan via Dropbox a month before expiration and my husband's visa was ready for pick in 7 working days. Mine took 12 working days with plenty tension but alhamdulilah It was renewed too.
So I left nig via air Maroc and I had gone to get fit to fly from my hosp where I paid 10k for medical report , scan n fit to fly. Got to the airport 12am n check in started 3am. It got to my turn n they rejected the one I got from my hosp and told me to go to port health. She measured my Tommy and started arguing with me that Im 35 weeks as opposed to 33weeks n 5days I mentioned to her. She said she wasn't going to give me the fit to fly that I should go and meet airmaroc to give me since I was arguing with her that it's 8months they stated on their website. I even showed her my scan and eventually made my husband write an undertaken before she gave me the cert after she delayed us for 1hr 30mins.
Came in via JFK and when it got to our turn,
CBP: hello guys DH and I : hello with a very bright smile CBP: how long are you guys here for? DH: we are here for 9 weeks CBP: oh wow that's a long holiday, u have anyone here? DH : no we don't , we are here for childbirth CBP: ok, place your four fingers here for scanning and took a pic of me. He looked at the passports and told us he was just confirming the details. Stamped us in for 6months CBP: have a safe delivery DH and I : Thank you.
I Walked away so fast before one over Sabi officer will see my Tommy n call me back.
No, further info was asked even though I packed everything in excess sef Went with my zero balance receipts from the previous delivery, leave confirmation, employment letter, I'd card, husband's company docs (form CAC n co) budget sheet, can't even remember the rest. We even called the hosp before we left Nigeria to be sure that there was no bill we didn't know about.
At least I learnt here that it's better to b over prepared than to be found wanting.
Will b going to Chicago tomoro and will be visiting the three hospitals I have in mind before I make a final decision.
Good luck to everyone x... |

Somie4: I honestly don’t know why a lot of People here think they can’t give birth in the USA with a visiting visa. It is very legal and ok to give birth in the USA with a visiting visa without even sending any change of intent or applying for medical visa or whatever. Most Nigerians are usually given a b1/b2 visa combined . B1 visa is for business while b2 is for tourism I.e vacation . What we don’t know is that medical treatment such as child birth etc is also allowed under the b2 visiting visa. I got tired of reading about people stressing to write change of intent letter, being adviced to go for vacation first with the visa before using it for child birth for fear of future refusal when they want to renew. Nobody will deny renewing your visa if you give birth in the USA with a visiting visa. My sister gave birth with her visiting visa, paid all her bills in full, didn’t send any change of intent whatever and mind you, at the time she did the interview she wasn’t pregnant and said it was for vacation. She got pregnant, traveled n had her baby and applied for a renewal and her visa was renewed. She has been doing drop box since then . She just got her visa renewed again this April and would be traveling to us to have her baby in October. Google it or go on the USA consular page and you would see that our visiting visa or tourist visa as some people will call it permits us to have medical treatment in the USA without applying for medical visa or change of intent . Infact medical visa which some people say they got is also under a b2 visa and also includes tourism as well. Pls kindly find attachment . I hope this helps people who are terribly confused about traveling with their visiting visa’s to give birth in the USA. Btw the only time I feel one might have issues is if you lied at your interview that you aren’t pregnant, it could catch up with you during renewal. Honesty pays . Ok thanks for the info which isn't new to us but how is Ur sister's case same with this person in question? Your sister wasn't even preggy but in her case shes even in her second trimester and she applied for visiting as opposed to childbirth. No one is saying you can't birth with a visiting visa it's just that some ppl have issues with renewal. It's on their website doesn't mean you should not go there with your true intentions. I'm not saying that was her primary motive cos things change overnight but do you think the vo will see it that way? Your sister is one of the lucky few and it's this same nairaland we saw that nemesis caught up with someone after eight yrs for lying to them. She must ve visited many times but it caught up with her. Meanwhile if you have been reading ppl's port of entry transcripts, you would have noticed the trend of CBP asking if they informed the embassy. So please if they now ask her that question what should her response b since you know better? |

Somie4: congrats dear. Pls did u have any doctor’s corrrspondence with you at the Poe? The hospital I want to use is saying I can’t make any payment to them until I come in person and start pre/registration blah blah which is fine by me. But my worry is won’t it be an issue if I have enough cash on me but don’t have any doctor or hospital correspondence ? Having alot of cash isn't enough. I read somewhere in part 2 abi 3 not sure where a woman had 18k but didn't ve a hospital neither did she have a Dr and She was sent back. Please call the hospital and tell them to give you an email address or you ask them to mail you the self pay package. This way the CBP is assured you won't become a burden. Do not go without one please. Better to be over prepared. |

Ebony84: Can't she just send a change of intent e-mail? The thing is she might have issues at the port of entry when she eventually shows up for childbirth as opposed to holiday. If she scales through now, not sure she will scale through for renewal cos there's nothing she would say to convince the vo that childbirth wasn't her primary motive. I would ve said she should first use the visa for the purpose it was obtained but there's no money to throw around. So she either risks it by sending change of intent (this won't be in your file) or reapply to declare her intentions . Search for Viola2017's transcript, she did the same. She forfeited her previous visa for a medical visa. Then again what worked for her might not work for you. At the end of the day the decision is hers to make. |

Secondly, some people told me that Houston POE is very tough, meanwhile I had already booked my flight.another person even said I should change my flight and go through somewhere else regardless of how much it will cost me, please those who have gone through Houston POE please share your experience, thanks Before end of the 36th week, it's 5450 after the 36th week 6950 USD. It's on their website, look it up. If you can change your Poe then go ahead but I know it's not as bad as you have stated. Just be prepared and pray for a smooth entry. Go to the search bar and type Houston Poe , then narrow the search to travel. |

Beautyaddy: Not surprised this was going to evetually happen...it was just a matter of time.
I know a number of people who got their US visas with the purpose of giving birth in the US or visiting but after getting to the US decided to change plans by either staying permanently in the US or migrate to Canada.
Now when you confront them that what they are doing is making the real geniue applicants whose only intentions is to give birth or visit and leave they shugg it off by saying at times conditions beyond their control causes them to change plans. I won't be surprised that they will someday stop only Nigerians from birthing in their country. Especially when they even see some ppl earning a living from asking ppl to birth in d US. As for relocation, I believe it's not conditions beyond their control, they already had imminent plans cos relocation isn't something u just decide to do. it must be something u have been discussing and planning. It is well, wish all the future applicants with genuine intentions all the best. |

OmoBendel24: Good advice, but Dropbox ke? Attempting to secure a visa for your toddler after getting yours isn't entirely a bad idea @dear OP, at least your husband is still here as a tie. But then, you have deliberately included her as your tie during your interview (pretty sound conversation you had there with the VO, I must commend, well plugged leakages), can't you however let sleeping dog just lie? Please do, see how you just can.... Apologies, read it again and realised this is only for India . |
