Whatever you said to her initially could be technically construed as your pick up line. From your introducing yourself to whatever breaks the ice. So in a way, you  are using a pick up line without really knowing it.
As I have said before, everyone uses what floats their boat, and because you don't use or have a pickup line doesn't make you more mature than others neither does it make others kids or teenagers.
I use whatever breaks the ice and I don't try too hard on it by making up some lines or borrowing some lines previously used by someone else. I could make a joke if the moment calls for it or I could just give a compliment. Like my drill sergeant used to say, if it works then its right.
