All was set at the outdoor event at La Palm hotel until the rain suddenly started. This did not change the plan because many Nigerians were present to witness the second edition. The program was quickly reorganized in the hall.

Culture / 7 Best Strategies Nigerians Can Use In Trading In Ghana And Not Be Caught by Ckariam: 1:32pm On Nov 22, 2013
The Nigerian traders finally took the Ghana government to the ECOWAS court because diplomatic measures failed to resolve the harsh position taken by Ghana government on them. The argument back and front has to do with the requirement for foreign nationals to trade in Ghana.
While many Nigerian traders did not even meet the first criteria of $300,000.00, how much more the upgraded amount of $1 million?
The ECOWAS court dismissed the case, Will the matter be taken to International Court of Justice? By now there should be a backup plan for this aggressive traders who are bent on violating national laws but obeying regional treaty all in the name of doing business.
Incase if there is none, Could the following be the best strategies that will help my Nigerian brothers and sisters survive and continue their business or trade in Ghana?

1. Become a Supplier

You can supply to Ghanaians who are traders but are seriously considering a Nigeria partner. Some of Ghana’s traders would love to import products from Nigeria, but the fear to visit Nigeria is severe, So take advantage of the opportunity. Also Instead of being the sales man, hire a Ghanaian to do the sales for you and then put a price tag on the items you are selling. Ensure that the best price for the product is on the tag to reduce bargaining. Incase if the buyer wants a deal, a simple call can be put across to you where you can seal the transaction with best offers.

2. Do Business Online

The number of permits required before one can set up an enterprise in Ghana is outrageous. Such financial value is even sufficient to commence an online business. Many online business operations does not need any form of local requirement, thus you make your money even though you are here in Ghana. All you have to do is pay for Internet. While many genuine Nigerian traders are facing serious opposition from Ghana people and government for doing honest work, those who have been busy online, using false means and pretenses have generated more money for themselves without much stress or hindrance. Take advantage of online trading platforms like tonaton.com, olx.com.gh, konga.com.

3. Register the business with a Ghanaian

Many times there are many Ghanaians walking up and down without knowing their full potential. Do not involve the smart ones, or the person who will become smart the next day. Go register the business with him or her, pay the person off and go and do your business in peace. I assure you the person will not even bother to contend ownership of the company any day or seek for his shares. Once the business has been genuinely registered, then you can trade without hindrance. This is risky and strictly a survival technique.

4. Go into Services

The population of Nigerians in Ghana who are not traders are numerous, there is available market for Nigerian food. You will sell and run away. Nigerians in Ghana find it very difficult to eat perfumed rice, or most Ghana foods, and the number of Nigerian restaurants are scanty. Find a strategic location and serve the need of your people. At the end of the day you may realize it was a blessing for government to sack traders.

5. Apply Synergy

Since most Nigerian traders in Ghana are my tribe folks, I will like to remind them of a popularly Igbo adage. ” When a group urinates together into one pool, it generates foam”. It is not usually easy to translate our proverbs into English, but you see when men especially pee into a same spot harmoniously it generates foam like detergent. This implies that synergy is key to progress. Pull resources together, create a Nigerian market or mall. There is no way you all will come together without raising that $1 million required. Involve business consultant experts like Chuks Ineh to help you structure it, get a feasible business plan and return in a more professional way.

6. Marry a Ghanaian

While others may be thinking of a more dubious means to continue trading in Ghana for example by marrying a Ghanaian. In immigration terms it is called marriage of convenience. Well if you cannot marry who you love, then love who you marry. After contracting such union, and ensuring that all immigration papers are acquired, then you have the full right to trade in this country. If anyone should cough just allow your wife to do the screaming. Some marriages between a Nigerian and a Ghanaian are not for convenience but the desperate traders have this option although it is costly.

7. Claim Ghanaian citizenship

It may not be the most clever idea but not the worst either. The Ghana immigration system is filled with flaws, even the American immigration laws is not yet perfect, hence one way is to claim a Ghanaian. Claim that one of your parents are from Ghana. Do not forget that not all citizen have a national ID card. If you can even speak a local language, it will be to your advantage. We have seen many Nigerians acquire a Ghana passport easily or any national ID card, even the Yorubas from Nigeria have lived here for more than 200 years, and we also have the Hausa tribe in both Nigeria and Ghana. With your new acclaimed citizenship, you can trade peacefully.

Conclusion
The above strategies may be filled with good and dangerous ideas, but survival is a selfish impulse and contemporary borders were of foreign design. Africa must unite and eliminate this unnecessary hurdle. Competition is a health thing and Ghanaians should not be afraid of competition. Yes Ghana government has every right to protect their citizens from traders who will choke their operations and Nigeria traders pose a great threat to this and so efforts to arrest the situation is imperative. The matter is far from over and more diplomatic measures should be employed to tackle this crisis.

Culture / Ghanaians Watch Indecency More Than Nigerians by Ckariam: 12:17pm On Nov 16, 2013
ATTENTION: The Following analysis is true and based on research. There is no pornographic image in the article, so READ ON!.

This is not the type of issue that I will love to write about but since I am not acting it or showing you anything, I believe it is okay for historical benefit to document this interesting phenomenon.
My attention was first drawn to this issue when I was reading articles on Ameyaw Debrah’s website Ameyawdebrah.com, I noticed that the most read articles had to do with sex, or make love or anything that has to do with intimacy.
Ameyawdebrah.com is the 27th most visited website in Ghana, and if out of all his contributions to the entertainment and celebrity issues, the most read or according to his own words ‘Readers Pick’ were the following:

1. http://www.ameyawdebrah.com/big-brother-the-chase-watch-Hot-beverly-making-love-in-the-bath-tub-with-angelo-bbathechase/ 26,459 views

2. Scandal: X-rated video of Big Brother – The Chase housemate leaked – 18128 views.

3. Big Brother The Chase – Did Selly give it away too early and how does Praye Tietia feel? – 17618 views

So I decided to check out the latest top 100 websites visited in Ghana, and also compare it with Nigeria top 100 websites. So I went to Alexa.com, the web information company to tell me and you, without partiality which of the two nations Nigeria and Ghana watches porn than the other. It was sad but at least Nigeria has carried last in this one, Ghana won! My people Ghana defeated Nigeria in this aspect.

It is not a commendable victory, it only goes further to prove the hypocritical attitude of our friends. Yes! Shout it everywhere that Nigerians are 419! What else? The sin of fornication or Adultery from my religious background is more grievous than dishonesty.

Now according to Alexa rankings and top 100 websites visited in Ghana, the 33rd position was a porn website, it is even visited more than jobs.com.gh which is 49th, then 51, 61 and 62nd are all pornorgarphy websites. The patronage obviously is high and clearly the figures may fluctuate but it is usually within the same range.

In Nigeria, pornographic websites rank 72nd, sometimes it comes down to 69th. So compared to Ghana where such website ranks 33rd, and subsequently assume other positions within the top 100 most visited websites but in Nigeria only one is among the top 100 most visited websites.
The society is eroding and pornography is a strong weapon to that effect, my fear is with primary schools and JHS and even SHS using tablets as a learning tool, I wonder how many youths are falling victim to it. It is addictive experts have concluded and the foundation for a weak family unit and tradition emanates from this ill. It requires personal discipline, serious prayers to avoid this serious crisis.

Let me warn those who will avoid to talk about the issue at hand to condemn the writer. In the first place I am not Alexa.com, I am not Ameyawdebrah.com, data used in this analysis was derived both locally and globally. The objective of this information is to alert us of the reality and then call for change, an invitation to examine the serious problem facing Ghana.

If something is not done about it, the consequences will be disastrous. Also other West African States should beware, because if the Gateway has fallen, hmmm na Wahala o!

Religion / Solomon Lange – One Of The Greatest Gospel Singers Of Our Time by Ckariam: 8:04pm On Nov 15, 2013
I first heard the Song of Solomon Lange during my recent trip to Abuja. My cousin Kelechi Onwuka was so kind to accommodate me, and his room mate from Jos was equally hospitable. It was just a one room self contain and the guys were so caring.
One album that was always playing was that of Solomon Lange, by then I didn't know his name but I just loved every of his tracks even though I had my favorites. I decided that I must purchase one for myself and family. So we went out and bought it.
I listened to the CD in the car while returning back to Owerri, my friends in the car marveled to the talent this young man has and most importantly using it for the praise of God. The songs became so part of me that up till date I still play it in my house and my wife is equally singing to the song.
My excitement sometimes grows dim because not too many people know this guy and even have the opportunity to listen to his tracks. Well those in the eastern part of Nigeria don't really know him and even his song is not known in Ghana.
Undoubtedly Solomon Lange is endowed from on high with the gift to sing and praise God, he uses English and Hausa languages in this act. Not too many songs in Hausa are gospel that I know of, so when I listen to him, he is speaking in tongues and the spirit bears witness that he is glorifying the Father above.
In my strong opinion, Solomon Lange is one of the greatest gospel musicians of our time, not just in Nigeria but globally. I understand how common his song would have gained popularity if he was singing profane and vulgar words but his righteous choice to give honor to the Creator who has given him this gift will surely not go unrewarded.
It is not necessary to incline you to read on when you can have a feel of his performance and together glorify the most high. Nobody I am sure after listening to him, or even watch him perform will not glorify the God of Abraham, Isaac and Solomon.

Jokes Etc / ‘aalloo’ New & Fast Rising Ghanaian Comedian by Ckariam: 10:40am On Nov 13, 2013
Do you know that the article "Where are the Comedians in Ghana?" Which went viral sometime in January this year truly motivated talented Ghanaians to come out of obscurity? Indeed many music talent shows were sponsored by the big companies this year and Nothing, absolutely nothing for Comedy was organized in such huge platform.
However Comedians who are not yet known are numerous in this Country but it is talking a gradual process for their emergence. Aalloo as he is fondly called is a born comedian. Those who know him outside his family consider him a clown, he is so humorous, that anything he says will crack your ribs. His family did not want him to trail the paths of fools so he was compelled to attend school. He is a graduate of Kofi Annan India – Ghana Centre for Excellence in ICT- Advanced Information Technology Institute (AITI) and works with Starbow airline but that did not stop him for pushing his comedy calling.
Aalloo has appeared on the popular KSM show 'Thank God Is Friday'. He was also active the upcoming Comedy Bar series. Aalloo has the endorsement of David Oscar who discouraged him from attending 'Born Stars' simply because he is way beyond that level. Prior to his cognizance by the media he was actively engaged in weddings and campus events where his fan base has grown rapidly. All were praising his efforts and hoping that what they enjoy from his lips would become a national comedy catastrophe.
Aalloo is ready to take on the Ghana comedy stage as a true comedian that Ghana and Africa will be proud of. He is capable to entertain and ensure that broken families are even reconciled through his jokes. Ghana can once again shout with joy because a new comedian has emerged.

Culture / 10 Striking Differences Between Nigeria And Ghana by Ckariam: 7:59am On Nov 06, 2013
Ghana and Nigeria are two sides of the same coin, many similarities abound especially the lingua Franca being English. In this article, attempts will be made to scrutinize the outstanding differences existing among the two instead of the similarities.
The following are the Ten unique points which will inform the novice, enlighten the expert and perfect the stories of Nigeria Ghana relations.

1.The Security Entrance in Bank halls

It is a matter of policy from the regulatory body of Nigeria banks to have secured entrance system that will prevent the quick, easy access or movement into bank halls. This initiative was introduced to curb armed robbery attacks in the Nigeria banks. Unlike banks operating in Ghana, the entrance into their bank halls are porous. For example a UBA Nigeria will have a secured entrance but the UBA Ghana will be casual of the door. There is definitely the presence of a policeman in every branch of any bank in both countries.
Nigeria has taken a reactive approach to security but Ghana is yet to be proactive in this measure. For me, Ghana should learn fast from Nigeria’s experience and not wait till woes befall them to implement stringent measures on the entrance.
Just of late and probably inspired from the terrorist attack on Kenya, UBA Ghana commenced scanning of customers with a handy scanner. Sometimes it is faulty and everyone enters without check. It was not there before but now it is.

2. The Accompaniment used in eating Roasted Corn

The preparation of roasted corn in both countries is quite different. After a corn has been roasted in Ghana, it will be dipped into salty water and then given to a customer to chew, The accompaniment is usually coconut in Ghana.
Nigeria especially the eastern side will not dip into any salty water, and coconut is a secondary option. The land is blessed with a fruit called ‘Ube’ or pear in English. It comes out during the same season as corn which is raining season. It is also important to note that due to advancement in the agricultural sector in Ghana, corn or maize does is not a seasonal crop anymore. Use of irrigation, corn is available year round. I wish Nigeria farmers can copy this and make corn available year round or perhaps continue the traditional practice so that corn will retain its value.

3. The use of Keke Napep transport system

While Nigeria uses Keke Napep as means of transporting humans and goods, Ghana uses it to transport goods. The vehicle is not even noticeable in Ghana because of its insignificant quantity in the country. In parts of Nigeria where it is allowed, the legion of it is terrifying. Most of this drivers or riders were former Okada or motorbike experts who transferred same attitude to this new vehicle. It was introduced as a safety measure but the nuisance has compelled the government to restrict their movements. Their mode of operation is clumsy and their attitude towards fellow road users is an embarrassment to civil society.

4. Working land lines

I have written else where about the tragedy of Nigeria’s land lines. Some of the structures are still there but it is dead. Ghana still operates a land line, even before it was sold to Vodafone, it was well managed. The benefits to the economy cannot be overlooked. In many places in Nigeria you will see the evidence of mismanagement in the telecom sector. Internet availability through land lines remains one of the fastest and cheapest in Ghana. Also worth mentioning is the jobs created in that industry.

5. New Sim Card Registration

The only requirement for you to obtain a new SIM card legitimately in Ghana is to present a government ID card. No further question. In many cases street vendors are empowered to register new customers and this is where crime SIM cards are obtained. It was designed that people who do not have any government ID cards and will never obtain one may be registered since they want to talk. It is also a requirement for one opening a google account to have a valid mobile number. Once a SIM card is obtained without proper identification, a solid foundation has been laid for Internet crime to perpetuate.
In Nigeria, the registration of SIM card is a more serious business, in short I consider the registration of SIM card as a biometric process, because not only will your face be captured, but your finger prints will be taken. A thorough bio data will be taken, even asking your maternal identity. Ghana can emulate Nigeria’s intensive approach to this as a nation sincere in combating crime.

6. Time before New Sim Card can Function

So you have been subjected to this intensive registration process in Nigeria and you want to make call or use the Internet on your mobile, then you will be told that it will take till 6pm for it to work. A SIM card purchased and registered in Nigeria will not work at once, there is a waiting moment. The reason for this delay is hard to come by, but that is the case, It used not to be like that. In Ghana it starts at once. No need to delay when the power has been given to you to express yourself everywhere you go. Feel free!

7. Road Block System

The police are there to maintain law and order, and also provide security to people but the type of road blocks differs in both nations.
In Ghana, it is called barrier. In many instances you are notified with a road sign of a police barrier ahead of you. Then you see a neat set of police officers, a red plastic road block or metal in some areas. Sometimes with a reflective police jacket hanging on it. Then they gently greet you and you switch in the inner lights if in the night and if there is feeling of suspicion which is usually not the case, a search may be conducted or other demands required.
I wish to state here that Ghana police also like stopping cars with Nigeria plate numbers a lot just to find fault, or frustrate and extort.
The Nigeria road block system looks like a war zone, you will notice leaves on the road, then you will see fire in small pots burning, then you will see heaps of sand bags, these road blocks are constructed in such a way that you see one on the left, another on the right, then another on the left while passing through this check point of harassment. So your movement in most road blocks is made in zig zag pattern.

8. Gas used in frying Akara or Kose

This has never occurred in contemporary Nigeria society and will never happen if trends remain same. Why will a woman frying Akara use gas? even in Aso rock where President Good luck lives, it will never happen. Nigeria supplies gas to Ghana via the West African gas pipe line project and Ghana uses it to generate electricity and also fry Akara or Kose. Many small chop bars in Ghana use gas to cook their food. Dependence on firewood or kerosene is minimal unlike in Nigeria where majority of the people avoid the high cost of gas.

9. Mode of Admission into University.

Do you want to enter a university in Nigeria? Then be prepared for the following exams- WASSCE, NECO, JAMB, University aptitude test set by the respective colleges. One more thing, your admission is not strictly dependent on your good grades. You need connection, who you know and not what you scored will take you in. Ghana is quite simple, just your valid WASSCE results is sufficient for you to gain admission. No further exam, not who you know, not how much you can bribe with but your brains alone.

10. Use of Sirens

In Ghana the sound of sirens are usually heard when a fire service vehicle is rushing to save a situation. It could be fire outbreak or a collapse structure or any form of emergency requiring their service. Another source of sirens sound on the road is from the National ambulance. In their bid to save life, or convey the injured to hospital, sirens are heard to inform road users of the critical moment so that they give way and free access is granted. Few times it could be the President.

In Nigeria, just make little money and you have a pick up truck and another car. You are qualified and ready to move like a head of state. You go and apply for military police with AK47 and they will follow you up and down causing harm to innocent Nigerians and driving recklessly on the road. Imagine what happens when many road users are using sirens with mobile force with them and then there is heavy traffic because nobody will bow to the other. Every politician in power, top government officials are also with their escorts, moving in their convoy. For me every Nigerian is equal and must be accorded same security, they have shared our security personals among the so called elites and everyone moves on the road with sirens.

Conclusion

If you have taken your time to read the entire analysis, I hope you have picked one or two points. You will bear me witness that if every difference is enunciated here, we may fall asleep while reading this but I end with one experience a Nigerian novice in Ghana had, he saw an Elderly man and greeted him politely ‘Well done’. The elderly fellow was provoked and demanded what he has done to merit such compliment. To him, that was not a greeting but to the Nigerian young man, he has demonstrated respect.

Politics / “dishonest Government Contractors” Nigeria’s Worst Enemy & Threat To Progress by Ckariam: 9:39pm On Nov 01, 2013
This group of People consist of Fathers, Brothers, Uncles, Mothers, Aunts, Sisters and so forth, it also includes friends. We know them, they are not strangers, they do not wear mask and of course they know us, they walk about like sheep but they are ravenous wolfs, seeking to devour the development and progress of our dear nation. Simply put they are the CONTRACTORS!

After a careful observation of what goes on with the projects being executed on behalf of the state. After an in depth look into most completed projects designed for the betterment of the people of Nigeria, I cannot help but cry FOUL! Cheap labour, cheap materials, shoddy structures with the life span of a gastrotrich.

If a person entrusted with the money of the State to serve and deliver quality work will have the propensity to deliver nonsense for our generation without consideration for the next generation, such a one should not be allowed to walk free in this country. It is time my people we all stand up and tell them enough is enough. We want sustainable development, we want quality and not quantity, and we will see to it that we get it.

You cannot fool us all the time, now we have seen and have become wise.
To me the following points expound the tragedy created by this criminal contractors who fill their pockets with monies meant for projects, as we explore this issues, let me state categorically that their cohorts in perpetuating this evil to Nigerians are equally guilty and will not go free.

The tragedy of the commons

There is a popular Igbo adage that the goat owned by the public suffers hunger the most and with high tendency to die faster. Unlike the goat individually owned which the owner takes good care of. Example of such miscreant attitude is easily demonstrated in public toilets, public schools compared to private schools, public hospitals compared to private hospitals. We naturally do not take care of what is collectively owned. Hence many contractors do not feel that the public deserve solid structures. They in securing this contracts are not prepared to do a good work, those in government positions of trust whose obligation it is to ensure that the right people get the work, and that the right work is done according to the specifics tendered, are the first to affect the project.

Certain percentages are mandatory illegally, whatever remnant left after the contractor also takes substantial amount is for the Nigerian people. Thus a substandard project is gladly commissioned by these thieves and the consequences is tragic. Is it not better my people that we drive on dusty road designed by nature, with the rain and flood understanding their natural course on the road, and both motorist and pedestrians conscious of the genuine path to follow? Instead of creating a modern high way of death, in no distant time pot holes are everywhere, and then prayers are even unable to save the innocent from the trap consciously created by this wicked contractors.

Lack of patriotism

A probe into this matter simply confirms lack of genuine love for this nation. Why then should we continue to entrust projects to those whose track record show expired works? For it is contrary to the principles of patriots to endow an enemy.
Any contractor whose works are dangerous, whose interest is not that of the Nigerian people is an Enemy.
Any threat to Nigeria’s peace, progress and stability requires the utmost allegiance of the faithful to combat it even with our last drop. Enough is enough of this lackadaisical handling of our nations finances. For me it should be seen as a glorious privilege to be awarded a contract to serve your fellow brothers and sisters, the present era, while retaining the future in mind.
One who desires to execute projects on behalf of the government must first love Nigeria with his heart, might and mind. The person should not put financial gain as the first motive, that person should seek to put up a structure that generations unborn will see and confess that such fellow was different from the rest. A passion to serve, to build up, to clothe our beloved nation with her true glory must fill our minds. When this is in place, I assure you, we shall see works that commensurate with the capital deployed , we shall witness structures capable to stand the test of time.

Greed

Covetousness is a sin. Nigeria as a religious nation teaches her people this principle. Why then do we forget that wealth acquired on earth will not proceed to the eternities with us? A good name is better than riches, time will teach those who failed to appreciate this truth a bitter lesson. Wealth acquired through integrity and hard work is a blessing to those who patiently made it, a blessing to their posterity and people.
When a greedy contractor takes money meant for building a good school for the Nigerian children to build a solid house for himself and family, so that he brags as a successful man, while endangering the lives of our children, causing financial loss to the state because the project will be repeated, will face the wrath of justice.
Greed leads to so many atrocities, and the ultimate outcome is devastating.
Government’s monitoring team should be above the temptation of bribes from contractors who are doing bad job. Get them to pay back every kobo, convert that their mansion to classrooms. Let the Nigerian children get the best education in public schools because if the money was well invested, it is the best still, they will have.

Loophole in Government

There are those of us today who are working in the public sector, I have a question for you: Have you served this country with all your heart despite the weakness in the system? Have you stood out from the rest because you do not condone corruption? Have you attempted to reform and bring about positive development in your little and humble capacity? If yes to this questions, then on behalf of the good people of this great nation Nigeria. We Thank you so much, We appreciate you, We love you. History will always vindicate the just.
If your answer is nay to the above questions, if your position is negative, We call upon you to change and restitute to us destitute of this nation. Your wrong choice has caused us damage, it has motivated some of us to seek the wrong path. Now live the rest of your life as a true civil servant, with utmost loyalty to the constitution. You only become the greatest when you serve genuinely not by how much you stole. We can and must reconstruct our approach to eliminate loophole, when you seize from taking percentages, when you stop giving contracts to unprofessional family members and friends but to those who clearly qualify, Nigeria will rise to its rightful place. Your choice today has infinite consequences to us, may our developmental projects be sustainable.

Nonchalant attitude from the civil society

We are in the democratic dispensation. The power of government lies in the hands of the people. Majority of projects approved by the state are built in communities. Many times local labour is incorporated. We may not be experts to understand all the technicalities but I know that the spirit of our ancestors and blood of our heroes will prompt us when a contractor is doing substandard job. Let us decide today in both word and action that we have liberated our selves from traditional bondage of laxity. That we shall not knowingly permit fake and counterfeit roads, hospitals or bridges in our communities. This battle against corrupt contractors will be won and the victory will be for the generations unborn, who can confidently say that our fathers sweat is not in vain. As they look back at monuments constructed decades before their birth, even their own posterity will exclaim with triumph that the fight against bad contractors was won at the grassroots level, yes at the community level.

May I conclude by reminding us that in one way or the other, we are contractors of one sort or the other. Many times we are giving opportunities by friends and family to serve but we fail to deliver according to promise. If you fail the people you know, what then shall you do to Nigeria?

Celebrities / Who Is Chuks Ineh? by Ckariam: 7:47pm On Oct 29, 2013
Chuks Ineh remembers as a young man returning from his village Obowo, IMO State, when his family stopped briefly at Mbaise to say hello to his Uncle Emeka who was returning back to the Village from Lagos.

When his uncle mentioned his name as he was given money to him and his siblings, the mad man over heard his name and said to Chuks: ‘You are Amazing’. Ever since then his life and works were filled with amazement.

Chuks Ineh journey in life cannot be complete without mentioning his clever nature in handling matters.

In his early days in Junior secondary school at ADJS Mbieri, Chuks Ineh would compose short stories and one of his very close friends Obioha Osuoha will draw a cartoon as a supporting image to perfect his article.

He studied General Arts in Government College Owerri where he was very active in Literature in English class. His passion for the writings of Shakespeare motivated him to purchase other works of Williams Shakespeare outside the recommended curriculum with his pocket money. Politics / Nigeria’s Weak & Corrupt Judiciary System Is Affecting Development by Ckariam: 8:19am On Oct 29, 2013
Posted by: Chuks Ineh , October 29, 2013
The reflections of my visit to Owerri prisons recently will never leave my mind, especially when a prison warder cheerfully showed me the information on the board behind the old and untidy reception area. The figures clearly indicated to me that there was something terribly wrong with our judiciary system in Nigeria. It provided accurate statistics that instead of justice, the opposite is the case. The number of inmates actually serving their time as convicted criminals was in hundreds. Then the chunk number of occupants of the prison were those awaiting trial or those whose cases are still being treated indefinitely in court rooms.

Immediately I asked myself what exactly is the judiciary doing to help Nigeria to be better?. Stories of how lack of money deprived an innocent man justice and freedom abound. I know that money influences corrupt Judges and lawyers and that their tenacious acclaim to be men of great academic repute is only a strategy for perpetuating evil and intimidating the weak.
A judge who without human sentiments will allow another man spend time in confinement even after sensing that the accused is innocent just because he could not afford to bribe his way to freedom, is the person who truly deserve to be locked up here on earth and hereafter.

The truth hurts, and it is only the evil ones in the judiciary system that will be offended by my position on this matter. For those who may attempt to conspire against me for writing this down, I am not afraid of you, because you are nothing but dust like me, and your mortal powers have limitations. One thing I know for a surety is that truth will always triumph over lies. And all those who have used their temporal privileges to intimidate, to set up, and imprison the innocent must have their reward. Why should a case in court take such a long time before reaching a verdict? If there is no evidence against the person, why unjustly detain a Nigerian talent?

Justice demands that penalty be paid for crimes committed against humanity or the state. Bear in mind that I am not an advocate of anarchy, neither am I agitating for the elimination of prisons, far from that.
We have witnessed history repeat itself over and over again how the innocent are thrown into prisons, while the guilty and wicked move about freely in the society. We also know that due to allegiance to certain authorities and groups, and with people in power in high places, it is easy to alter the destiny of a good man briefly by corrupt lawyers, police prosecutors and judges. We have also seen that those who endure well this false trials and injustice become triumphant at the end, either in this life or after they are gone.

The power of the judiciary is to interpret law, it is an arm of government independent and with enormous powers. The judiciary to me is the custodian of justice and has the same capability like the executive and legislative in ensuring development in Nigeria.
If proper checks and balances are maintained, if corrupt politicians are dealt with according to law without fear or favor, there will be great improvement in human development. The constitution of Nigeria is supreme, nobody is above it and all must be subject to it. All must be governed within the tenets of the law. Many people in Nigeria feel that they have arrived to a state of constitutional independence, that the law is no longer for them, that they are above the law. Such stupid feelings should never be allowed to possess their minds in the first place, how much more retain their mindset. Who on earth is above the law? Nobody!

I foresee a time when all those whose conduct and pride is in complete disharmony with our fundamental human rights, when all those in position of trust to protect the integrity of the constitution but betrayed it, all those who have carefully denied the innocent justice because of poverty will be brought to book. Nigeria will one day surprise the entire world by prosecuting the true offenders, Nigeria will one day confiscate the properties of all corrupt politicians and judges who have acquired ill gotten wealth at the expense of the Nigerian people, Nigeria will one day be the giant of Africa in matters of justice and anti corruption crusade. Where no man or woman will go free after committing a crime because the person has money. It is only when judges are corrupt that evil and wickedness, even injustice reaches its peak.

We need to look into the judiciary system, a complete overhaul is necessary. Let the judiciary take its rightful place as a strong force, an independent arm in governance. Let men who are above reproach, whose Interest is not the filthy lucre, who can without fear or favor demonstrate the power of law as an instrument of equality and equity.
A lot of young lawyers are graduating everyday who after training can not boast of any serious campaign against the ills of society. Who as learned as they foolishly assume become incapacitated before a common SSCE holder police man whose heart is filled with crime. A lawyer whose voice is not heard in public or private teaching the people their rights, empowering them with knowledge. A lawyer who only desires to grow through the rank, receive training by his corrupt seniors, master the tactics used in implementing injustice and perpetrating corruption. Woe to all such lawyers who have selfishly absconded from the true cause of their calling, whose interests is to amass wealth, look good at the expense of truth and justice. Are you not pained with what you are seeing as wrong and out of order? Why are you then all of a sudden quiet? Who do you think will fight this battle for justice in this state?

For all those who love truth and justice, for all those who cherish freedom and fairness, be you a learned man or unlearned, let us rise together not as crude folks but as noble and intelligent beings and fight against this evil. We shall only lose this battle if we do nothing and keep quiet.
The majority of us are tired of the corrupt system and we shall be victorious in our quest to see transformation, we shall be glad to see a land where the guilty pay for their crimes and the innocent walk freely with their heads high, this is partially possible when the judiciary is not corrupt. I may not have visited other prisons in Nigeria, but I do not suppose that the case will be different there, the Owerri Prisons can serve as a case study and example of the weakness in our Judiciary system.

As for what goes on in the prison and their living conditions. Let us leave that for another day.

Culture / The 10 Things Nigerians Know About Ghanaians by Ckariam: 6:42am On Oct 27, 2013
On the 1st of October 2012, I penned down the popular article “10 Things Ghanaians know about Nigerians”. That was not an imaginary composition rather a well researched topic. That article has sparked conflict, generated controversy and defiled the historical purpose. It is not surprising since there are unintended consequences to our choices.
Many have waited patiently for a rejoinder from me at least by sharing the Nigerian opinion about Ghanaians. To them such analytical reaction must emanate from the author of the revelation of what who knows about the other.

In no distant time, I will be completing my eight years in Ghana. I have preached here as a missionary, I have lived here as a Masters student, I have done business here, I have married from here, I have given birth to the best children on earth here, a daughter and a son. I love my wife, she is the best any man will have, she is Ghanaian and I am Nigerian, and our kids are Nigerian Ghanaian. I have shared this brief for a purpose, that I am as objective as I was when the first was published about Ghana perception of Nigerians. I have spoken well of both countries every where I find myself because in my home there is no border between Nigeria and Ghana. In my family just like few others, it is where Ghana and Nigeria reconciled.

The following reflect the true feelings of Nigerians about Ghanaians.

1. Ghanaians are peaceful people

One of the striking manifestations a Nigerian notices in his environmental transition in Ghana is the presence of cordial relationship and harmony. How Ghana acquired such peaceful climate? I have no idea. People hardly fight, there is always an amicable way to conflict resolution. The land is blessed with tranquility, Nigerians indeed feel relaxed here than in Nigeria, at least you do not get to worry about kidnappers, or terrorism. Nigerians coming from a background of loud noise- sounds of generator, sounds of sirens, sounds of bomb explosion etc appreciate Ghana’s peace. One thing that contributed so much to the peaceful state of Ghana is the working judiciary system. So nobody takes laws into their hands.

2. Ghanaians hate Nigerians

One of the orientation that a Nigerian will pass to his new brother in Ghana is to remind him that the people of Ghana do not really love Nigerians. The new entrant having seen one or two signs will concur to that traditional doctrine of enmity. Generally Nigerians in Ghana feel that they genuinely love their host country and does not understand the reason for their hatred towards them. Admiring a Nigerian comedian or movie star or musician or pastor is not same as loving his brothers and sisters resident in Ghana. Chinua Achebe in his personal history of Biafra, the book “There was a country” indicated that Ghana and Nigeria relationship has not always been cooperative. Such historical undertone confirms the feelings both sides nurse in their hearts. Sometimes without taming the feelings, such hatred do manifest in government policies targeting Nigerians and their interest in Ghana. Many Nigerians are insulted and mocked as if Ghana is without sin

3. Ghanaians worship white people

Present a black man and a white man before a Ghanaian and he will choose the later. Nigerians feel that Ghanaians want to copy everything western. That they tend to bow to a white man more, submit to his ordinances more than to African course. That contrary to what Kwame Nkrumah tried to to achieve with African Unity, his people lean towards the white than the blacks. Looking at this view from another angle, it implies that Ghanaians are not racists, but the danger is that a Ghanaian can sabotage his fellow blacks just to win favor in the eyes of a white man. That such mental weakness and appreciation of ones race as submissive to a superior one is annoying to Nigerians. A Nigerian man is proud of being Nigerian and black, he will promote his culture and not reason with racial inferiority.

4. Ghanaians obey the law

Have you ever observed how Ghanaians can be in a queue in a traffic? This is something that baffles Nigerians. A nation that obeys law maintains order. Nigeria is a country where law is designed for the poor. A chaotic society where injustice and corruption is glorified. Nigeria is a nation where the judiciary has failed in using law as a tool for development. Where youths cast doubt as to the reality of the separation of powers of the arms of government. To the Ghanaians, they are not yet fully law abiding but comparable to Nigeria, Ghana has done well. Ghana is not a country where laws are broken without penalty. Ghanaians are conscious of the law, and that even helps Nigerians who reside here. At least they are witnessing what it means to be law abiding and the true effect is that when a Nigerian returns back home, he is more law abiding than before and is naturally inclined to be an activist of justice.

5. Ghanaians are pretenders

Not just coming from the lips and heart of Nigerians but the people of Ghana do testify against her own people as pretenders. Ghana has capitalized on that good name in the international community as a good nation and will not dent it, instead they act as if all is well. Nigerians in Ghana have a strong opinion that Ghanians as mortals are bad like them but hide theirs. This could be a smart strategy to get what they want but it is equally a dangerous thing to deal with a chameleon. Be yourself and let the world know you for who you really are and not what you desire to become. Many youths of Ghana are into Internet scam popularly known as Sakawa, so 419 is not just a Nigeria thing. The debate as to who taught who will be left fair another day.

6. Ghanaians have fair complexioned people

Many Nigerians are surprised to see that Ghana has fair complexioned people. Their original notion is that they are all black skinned, not just dark or brown. To see a fair complexioned person, a Nigerian will first suspect the person to hail from Nigeria. Many white people married black Ghanians and their offsprings complexion is brighter. That is not the only reason, there are also naturally fair people here but majority of Ghanaians are very dark.

7. Ghanaians practice true Democratic Party system

In the democratic system of Ghana, a party stands for something. A party manifesto is known, a party’s dogma is in the heart of the followers. If you belong to a political party, you don’t just easily cross carpet. It is almost like a religion, and everyone knows what to expect when a particular party is in power. Party politics is not for convenience, you are born into a party, your family is in a party. Unlike in Nigeria where political parties don’t understand their purpose, and the people follow any with the money because no one trusts any party. You can win in any party and decamp later.

8. Ghanaian land lords cheat

A visit to rent control will reveal that many aggrieved Nigerians have resorted for justice against their mean landlords or, land lady as the case may be. Nigerians feel that because they are foreigners, greedy landlords try to take advantage of them. Many have similar experiences of cheating and deliberate defiance of housing contract.

9. Ghanaian education system is good

Nigerians love Ghana because of their Education system. It is easy to get admission to Ghana universities. If you pass your WAEC, then you can attend as far you can Afford the tuition. There is less strike, less exam malpractice, and absence of cultism menace. Nigerians schooling in Ghana schools are countless and can be seen in all levels. Certificates acquired from Ghana is also valued more than those from Nigerian universities.

10. Ghanaian electricity is better

Comparable to Nigeria where a community pays for transformer, or the accessories to connect electricity, Ghana electricity company functions. Ghana sees electricity as a source of generating revenue, it is business. Unlike before there used to be steady light for a long time but now the energy crisis has made things a little different. Still the situation in Ghana is better than Nigeria. It is just of late that stabilizers are being sold. Nigerians have vowed to return home once President Good luck Jonathan fixes this electricity problem.

There are of course many things that each nation know about the other, and it is also true that the ECOWAS treaty is not of full effect. Ghana and Nigeria relationship is not a choice, but destiny. The nature of their relationship is a normal but can improve.

Celebrities / Photos & Review Of Juliet Ibrahim’s Premier Of ‘the Number One Fan’ by Ckariam: 9:13am On Oct 26, 2013
Her first produced movie, The Number One Fan was premiered at the National Theater, Accra, Ghana, Juliet Ibrahim was well supported by family, friends and fans. Juliet Ibrahim told me that AY the comedian was unavoidably absent because of a movie he is doing in America.
The movie witnessed so many new celebrities first role in the movie industry especially Big Brother former housemates Keita and Zainab. Also Selly was also in the movie even though she has done other few movies before. There was a little issue with Selly's immodest gown, she was so uncomfortable when seated for an interview and kept covering it.

Another new entrant into the industry was Juliet Ibrahim's sister. The movie was kind of all about her. She was exceptional in her performance and never behaved as if it was her first role in a film. It also demonstrated that the Ibrahim family has got talent.

The movie did not start at the specified time of 5pm and 8pm respectively, and the turn out was not huge. I wonder why despite the low fees charged for tickets. Some pundits argue that the MTN hit maker which had Iyanya in town caused the divided attention.

Some of the contestants of Miss Nigeria Ghana 2013 were there to assist as ushers, tall and well presentable damsels proved their love for Ghanaian new movie producer, singer, mother, and actress Juliet Ibrahim.

The film was shot in beautiful locations, a good camera equipment was used, smart crew. It was kind of difficult to grab the concept of the movie. It is not a typical Ghanaian movie. AY the comedian even though acting a strong role as a police detective but still he was able to infuse comedy into the complicated movie. The complication could be tagged as suspense, since most movies are predictable thus to prevent such traditional occurrence, confusion and a complex atmosphere was created.
The movie was also good in creating what seemed like real event, Sandra of Fashion 101, Ameyaw Debrah and others all featured in the film during a red carpet scene.

Due to fatigue, I slept off, just like many people also slept off , and the mosquitoes in the national theater with their rude and imposing entertainment got really to me and others. The national theater management should fumigate that place, so that it does not become a theater for transmitting malaria to unsuspecting audience.

Generally, the movie premier of 'The Number One Fan' was successful, and Juliet Ibrahim has proven that she can equally add a dynamic touch to the movie industry of Ghana. Her associate Jackie Appiah came late to the event though and was about to enter the hall when the small crowd was about to come out, so she ran away to her car with her big body guard...just adding that gist.
Kudos to all the team of Jewels production, I will recommend this movie to all African movie fans.

Politics / Photo: Nigeria Police Officer Urinates On Governor Rochas Okorocha's Structure by Ckariam: 9:52am On Oct 25, 2013
Wonders will never seize to occur in this our nation Nigeria. Do you remember the time of 'War against Indiscipline'? It was a taboo for anyone to misbehave in public or create funny scenes like urinating on the road, littering the street and so many other social misconduct. In those days if you are caught engaging in any act of indiscipline, you will face the full rigors of the law.
Sometime ago a new Facebook page emerged from Owerri called refined people, actually here is their link: https://www.facebook.com/RefinedPeople. One of the issues that sparked serious debate was this-
"Ever wonder why some "educated" "graduates" and "intelligent" people still urinate along roads, instead of controling their system and looking for an appropriate place ?
They were truly under-educated!!
Which category do you fall into?"

This was my response to that concern "Two things: 1. Emergency! It is more appropriate to urinate on the side of the road than pee on your pants during critical moments.
2. Lack of public urinals: Many places lack basic amenities like urinals, the call of Nature must be answered by politicians first by providing public urinals so that when it calls, their citizens can gladly respond in the right place".
That response given on the 14th of November is still applicable today. However the thing that I did not really think about when that concern was raised on that platform was how serious was the issue?
Imo state Governor Rochas Okorocha has built certain structures in Owerri, some of the towers are quite confusing as to the purpose but despite that fact it will never serve as a urinal for both civilian and police. It may look like one to some but the location of this structure, very close to Rockview hotel Owerri, and Imo Government house explains it all.
The view of this misconduct by the police officer is in a strategic location, the popular Wetheral round about, anyone within the location at the time of action will see the traffic officer urinating comfortably, school children can also learn from his bad example, is he not the one suppose to at least maintain law and order in the road committing the act.
The plight of this Nigerian police officer during moments of emergency will not justify the act, but in a situation where there is no public urinals in areas to help the urgency of nature, one may be left with no option to patronize the walls and towers built by Owelle Rochas for the beautification of the state.
Another point worth mentioning here even though I will treat at another point extensively is the approach of Owerri capital development authority popularly known as OCDA, in demolishing structures. I wonder why this government body is more interested in destruction than in building. Yes, they can defend their position that illegal structure must be eliminated, no problem but why don't they equally exercise same strength in building public urinals? The Owerri master plan may be a classified document privy to few, but the majority of us have not seen it, my only question is this: Does not that Master plan have provision for public urinals?.
If yes implement it, if No! Then use the same government power to alter or modify a master plan to achieve the civility of Imo people. Development is useless when it excludes human development, and this aspect I feel the OCDA group lack because even their approach is militant.
A time will come when our people will go to public places like fast food, banks, and even hotels just to patronize their rest room instead of their core service. Companies can as part of their social corporate responsibility provide at vintage points a urinal for the people. A small token can be charged for maintenance. There is also the opportunity for an entrepreneur to invest in public urinals since everyone is imitating and not being innovative.
Finally the Nigeria Police Force should train their officers on how to conduct themselves in public. It will be easy for one called to ensure law and order to be effective if indeed the person is keeping the law. Also those found guilty of embarrassing the Nigeria Police must be brought to book. I understand that the current commissioner of Police in Owerri is not a corrupt person and I hope he remains like that.

Investment / Not Every Western Union Involving A Nigerian Is 419- Ghana Bank Cautioned by Ckariam: 2:13pm On Oct 23, 2013
The energy and mind of a young bank cannot be compared with that of an older bank. It is expected that a matured bank hire younger and innovative people into their system to boost their performance and energize the operation. When an older bank like Ghana Commercial Bank with their experience and mediocrity fails to catch up with the contemporary reasoning, a lot of financial loss will be incurred and the fresh smart banks will capitalize on that weakness and make more money.
The experience I had this morning will further expatiate the above point. Yesterday night I got a message from Google Adsense informing me of my recent payment. I was duly informed to log into my account and take the Western Union control number, proceed to any Western Union agent and take my cash. It was an exciting moment for me to at least finally reap the reward of a genuine online business.
Not too far from me was a Ghana commercial bank branch. I entered and filled a form, initially I missed the question and answer part but later filled it in.

The problem with the payment

The cashier at the desk will be in her early 40s, she will not comprehend the rationale behind Google as an entity making payment to me instead of a human being. So she won't pay me the number because the sender is not a human being. I showed her on my ipad the entire correspondence between me and google and the need for the bank as an agent of Western Union. I decided to talk to the manager but was interrogated by the operational manager. I also explained everything to her but the cashier won't still pay. It was time for me to meet the manager of the Adenta Shopping center branch. She was a very friendly person but revealed to me that nobody has come to their branch with such request before. They don't deal on such transaction involving Google but that Google should pay me directly into my account. She desired me to go another western union agent but I asked her to investigate on Adsense, then she called George from a higher office of their bank and explained many things I told her and he said NO! Do not pay him.

Beige Capital pays me

I went into a small branch of Beige capital and very close to Ghana commercial bank. The bank was filled with young people. The form to fill was simple and there was no agitation on their side. I had earlier called the best blogger in Ghana Ameyaw Debrah to seek his help all long the crisis, and trust he is good at assisting someone get things right. I was payed in a blink of an eye and I proceed back Ghana Commercial bank.

Lessons for Ghana Commercial Bank

I presented the receipt of payment to the Bank and they made a photocopy of it. The bank apologized for wasting my time and their suspicious attitude towards me. Yes I was carrying proudly a green passport but I am not into scam or fraud or 419. During this entire drama I called Ghana's best blogger Ameyaw Debrah and he was very helpful to me.
It is imperative for Ghana Commercial Bank to keep up to date with contemporary online business, and to also appreciate that Western Union is not strictly for individual money transfers but corporate institutions do use it. A proactive approach is better than a reactive one. Now I will excuse you to go spend wisely my hard earned money from google Adsense.

Politics / If Only Anyim Pius Anyim Will Fix The Broken Clock by Ckariam: 8:17am On Oct 10, 2013
One of the politicians that Nigerians love is current secretary to the federal government and of course former senate president. For me his style of leadership, natural charisma and sense of comportment is tempting and enviable. A good member in the Goodluck Jonathan led administration.

A visit to the Federal secretariat in Abuja revealed a lot that affected adversely my thoughts of him. It was difficult to comprehend why such a great man would abandon such a little but significant issue. The consequences of his inaction still lingers, thus producing lackadaisical pattern in our civil servants.

That sense of urgency was lacking, the spirit of delivery was weak and the consciousness of value was absent, all because the clock that was installed in the building was not functioning. When I asked some civil servants who was responsible for fixing the clock so that it will work, I was told that Senator Pius Anyim Pius, the SGF is the one in charge. Then I requested that I will like to see him and fix this clock with my own little funds as a service to my country because it was embarrassing to see a clock that was installed for a purpose, not for decoration remain adamant to reality. The curiosity as to what could prevent the SGF from solving this small thing was not as heavy on my mind as to the consequences of his neglect.

Let us look at some of the effects of this faulty clock on the Nigeria civil servants and their service to this great Nation.

1. Reporting time- From the gate entrance where the demand is usually your identity card, through the reception and then to various rooms and department. There was no electronic system of recording the time a worker reports to work, if there was i saw none. I saw what looked like a security man wearing light brown sitting on a chair with table on certain entrance to departments. If there was a specific time for workers to report to duty, there was no compelling force. Everyone looked free and careless. As a matter of fact, the time on the clock provided by authorities to regulate affairs supports all movements.

2. Bad example- I expect that the federal will train the state civil servants, and the state will train the local civil servants. What those at the federal secretariat have learnt is poor time management. That us exactly the same thing that they will teach in practice to their subordinates. Their inability to work with time has affected their psychic and it is hard to find a situation where time will matter to them.
3. Service delivery- when people become unconscious of time, when people do not appreciate the value of time, it becomes impossible to use time wisely. Instead of wise sayings like 'Time is money' or 'Time waits for no one' you will hear crazy and uninspiring statement like 'No hurry in life'.

There is time for everything under the sun, and time must be measured. Where there is a way to track time indicates progress, demonstrates the anxiety to achieve set goals. The Importance of time cannot be overemphasized, in this modern time it was part of the things a mobile phone came with before camera and Internet was added. Indeed each individual working at the Federal secretariat may have a clock at home, carry a phone and wear a wrist watch.
They are not strangers to reality however the clocks installed at the corridors of many floors of the building was for a purpose despite the fact that all have their personal time piece. That original purpose is being defiled, the outcome is disastrous to productivity.

In my judgement a lot in the attitude of Nigeria civil servants will be corrected once Anyim Pius Anyim solves a key problem of fixing the clock. He should remember that time is running out because 2015 is around the corner. This may seem small and petty, but seconds result to minute, and minutes yield to an hour, and hours make a day, everything moving at its own pace and design but nothing is constant.

Politics / The True State Of Nigeria At 53 Revealed by Ckariam: 9:41am On Oct 05, 2013
Signs abound to inform and prepare the Nigerian patriot that still All is not well with our dear country. For me the most suitable evidence of Nigeria at 53 state is the nature of Nigeria Telecommunication
(NITEL) equipments dotted across the nation.

Least we suppose that Nigeria is an exemption let us examine Ghana. Ghana government until she sold her Ghana Telecom to Vodafone, the land line telephone system was good and functioning. With the purchase by Vodafone, services has improved, land line calls sustained, cable Internet enhanced and more workers hired.

The Nigeria story as much as we may murmur, and some of us with nonchalant attitude towards the affairs empower the politicians stupidly will continue to witness degradation in things that matter most.

True development is sustainable, the inability to maintain and improve our cable communication system just because the mobile system was introduced is completely unacceptable and ridiculous.

Strange enough many mock the current trend of Nigeria’s telecommunication cable system, feeling that its demise best demonstrate the end of few access to talking on phone. There were days of course when many would go to a friend or neighbor to answer a telephone call from a relative but the GSM eradicated such practice.
The intent of this article is not to commend that era but to prove that lack of maintenance culture has denied our great country many opportunities. Land line is still important today and even more than in those earlier times.

The Nigeria telecommunication equipments depicted herein reveals the true nature of Nigeria democracy at 53 of independence. Instead of a covered unit, it is open but confirms the irony that our system as open as it appears does not function. There is a strong pillar, just like the works of our heroes past but such concrete foundation is like a grave. The twisted cables enhance our confused relationship religiously, socially and politically. Nigeria system is messed up, with ugly appearance and discouraging demeanor.

Imagine in a land were everything can be stolen, it is surprising that the worst of a Nigerian criminal equally abandons or neglects to take without authorization this equipment. When a thief finds no worth in the equipment, it sends more messages across.

Of what use then is this to the sons and daughters of Nigeria? Perhaps many younger generation would wonder what exactly is this equipment? An installation in the public domain with the appearance of a museum.

All is not lost yet, and it can be revamped, the Nigerian land line system can be totally transformed and instead of being an eyesore prove to the world that we are not just building new sandy projects but we are restoring the solid critical infrastructures that will affect positively our economy.

Any government with the true agenda to restore what we once had, what we once cherished, what once mattered will indeed fulfill the prophecy of not allowing our heroes labors to be in vain.

Nigeria at 53 should look inward, take an inventory of our assets and inject the appropriate remedy to bring them all back alive. Restoration is key, maintenance is paramount and in this wisdom gradually introduce new infrastructures that are solid and would take Nigeria to its rightful place in the global Economy.

TV/Movies / Selly & Nando 'makeout' Case May Go To South Africa Supreme Court by Ckariam: 8:21am On Jul 21, 2013
Selly is now enjoying the aftermath of big brother house, at least today marks just one week that she was chased out permanently from the chances of securing $300K, perhaps now & forever more in her life if opportunity comes but once.
She may never be opportune to such a situation whereby $300K is the ultimate reward.

She claimed that there is no regret for not bringing the money home, that even if one remains in the house till the finals, only one person will win it. The mentality of self comfort and consolation can be inspirational.

As for me, Selly's life has changed forever, the sacrifice for fame has been paid, and thus she becomes the tool of the media, perchance at the moment and if she remains naked in her activities with them will always be remembered by the hungry media, feeding the public with both facts, speculations and concoctions.

In her recent media report, the things that came out of Selly's mouth, one media house or two, in constant daily update of their cherished readers and audience interest will not exhaust all. What it means is that Selorm is ready for action in the world outside the house. Her chase in life has turned to her favor, she will no longer chase things again but things will chase her.

According to her, she has already secured her first movie role in Nigeria. A producer called when she got out of the game. At least as first Miss Goldenwood and one capable of many things in front of invisible cameras, there is absolutely nothing she can not do with one or two physical cameras.

My only problem with what is going on in Selly's life is this, that she and her mom will pursue legal actions against Nando. My people say hmmm! Look at that, this is an international case of comedy. That they have communicated to Muti Choice and will seek legal action against Nando, he must tell people how he got STI or STD because she Selly does not have any of such diseases.

If Selly had a man who will marry her before going there, and she lost control even when it was obvious that He was watching her, she decided to have 'Make out Sex' because according to her the boy did not put his anaconda into her in the house, and then you return home and start preaching ' my boyfriend is a wonderful man & I love him...blah blah we will get married' instead of apologize to him first on a public platform, then many things are amiss. She humiliated him in public and so redeem him in public.
My father told a story of accusing someone in the public market as a thief and going quietly to the person's home to apologize sincerely. How will the many visitors to the market from different locations know that the person is not a thief really?

The Nando court case is not an election petition, what happens in big brother stays in big brother! Nando is not afraid to also come out and tell the media his own part of the story.
Their action was not done in secret, The African eye was watching, the ugly accusations outcome is real. Hence are we going to continue witnessing outside the house, the drama of sex, or make out or STI or STD and who knows- pregnancy.

Move on with important projects and not remind people of the ugly things done there in BBA. The court case is not even feasible, will it be in the South African Supreme Court? Since the act was committed on their land and both are foreign nationals, treating the case in any of them either the petitioner (Selly) or respondent (Nando) country may raise fear and doubt of the outcome.

Also another challenge is the cost of movement from ones country to South Africa. Each person will travel there but I think I have got an idea, Selly & Nando can create a new TV series out of this fuss, they can capitalize on this opportunity rearing its ugly head, they can actually turn something negative ( Not STD results) into positive .

Crime / Nigerian Nabbed In Ghana For Peddling Fake Drugs by Ckariam: 4:33pm On Jun 28, 2013
The Ghana Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) has arrested a Nigerian Igbo Man who has been peddling fake drugs in Ghana.

The suspect is currently in the custody of the Accra Central Police, a release by the Chief Executive of the Authority, Dr. Stephen K. Opuni has said.

Kingsley Okafor was arrested on Saturday with fake medicines, which he intended to supply to pharmacies in the Accra Central Business area.

The medicine peddler had in his possession at the time of arrest; DAZ (Diazepam) injection, Avomine Tablets and Cafergot Tablets, all of which are fake prescription-only-medicines (pom).

Further investigations conducted by the FDA revealed that the fake medicines were smuggled into the country from Nigeria and stored in the residence of the peddlers at Accra Newtown from where they are supplied on demand.

Avomine tablets are used to treat nausea and vomiting; Cafergot, for the treatment of a severe type of headache known as migraine whilst Diazepam is used to relieve anxiety or induce sleep.

The FDA, therefore, cautioned the general public, especially pharmacies, hospitals, clinics and other healthcare facilities against buying medicines from drug peddlers and other dubious sources.

“Medicines purchased from these sources are not only fake but are also transported and stored under improper conditions, which could result in their deterioration well before their stated expiry thus putting the health of consumers of such medicines at risk.

“Additionally, information from the general public on persons in any practice possible of endangering public health and safety with respect to FDA’s mandate is most welcomed.

Entertainment / Ghana Female Rep At Big Brother Chase SELLY Stole My Husband by Ckariam: 9:00am On Jun 11, 2013
Reports reaching us this morning indicates that Ghanacelebrites.com has released a bombshell news on the female representative of Ghana at the Big Brother Chase. Whatever be the intent of this story will be determined by those who already like Selly. She is not aware of this publication and will not be in a position to defend herself . So let us not rush into conclusion yet. Find below the story-

I am usually unperturbed when someone wakes up and decides he/she doesn’t want their spouse/partner anymore and decides to move on to someone else.
Afterall, we all fall in and out of love. You cannot blame people for seeking happiness. My problem with Praye Tietia however is, young man, didn’t know you were not in love when you were fathering 1, 2 and 3 and 4 kids with the same woman?
You didn’t have a problem at all with being with her all these years until recently? All of a sudden you ditch her with 4 kids and say you have issues you cannot work through and proceed to get involved with someone you think is more suitable for your class in your opinion?
I was shocked when I sat in a salon and heard people diss Praye Tietia for leaving his wife for a ‘camel-faced’ woman with the whole of Azar paints showroom displayed on her face. LoL!
I was even more shocked when he granted the Delay Show an interview and admitted and stated his situation, and said he was in love with someone else who he would soon marry.
Really Praye? Really?
Anyway, prior to this, not many people spoke about Selly (Selorm Galley)-Ghana’s present female BBA representative. She first put herself in people’s faces when she contested for Miss Goldenwood, during which I am told she was already dating Praye Tietia.
But as you know, the more popular you get, the more dirt people will dig up about you. Although people will fabricate stories, this one is confirmed and true.
Selly has successfully taken Praye Tietia from his wife and kids (12, 10 and 6 years old) and gotten him to fall so much in love he has started talking publicly about marrying her.
Praye Tietia, we are glad you have found love but can you take care of the woman and kids you have left behind so we do not get bombarded with shameful stories of their destitution?
One older woman actually told GhanaCelebrities.Com how she sometimes has to help the woman and kids out with petty living finances.
Praye Tietia who happens to be the only child of his parents, has left this woman and his kids to their fate. He will not even pay the kids school fees, send them feeding money or upkeep. Nothing! Praye does nothing at all for any of his kids, GhanaCelebrities.Com has learned.
An amazing twist to the story after a lot of digging by GhanaCelebrities.Com is that, Praye Tietia is said to have vehemently refused to accept responsibility for the 4th child, claiming he is not the father.
He does not even want to see this woman anymore or have anything to do with her and his 4 children (3 of which he has accepted as his).
In this day of a very difficult economy, this woman has to fend for 4 children all alone while their father gallivants about town parading his Beauty Queen Selly .
This just breaks my heart. Why a woman has to have kids with a man and then be faced with bringing them up alone—just makes me sick. Leaving a woman in emotional turmoil is bad enough, do not add financial turmoil!
Please Praye Tietia, do at least take care of your children.

Religion / Ghanaian Police Commander Orders SCOAN To Host Activities In Bigger Venues by Ckariam: 3:06pm On May 21, 2013
The Greater Accra Regional Police Commander, DCOP Christian Tettey Yehonu, has directed authorities of the Synagogue Church of all Nations to quit hosting revivals at their Spintex auditorium in Accra.
Speaking to Citi News, DCOP Yehonu noted that the stampede that occurred at the weekend could have been avoided if the church had chosen a bigger venue to hold its events.

Four people died on Sunday as a result of a stampede at the Synagogue Church of all Nations. The stampede occurred as people struggled to secure a position to receive holy water blessed by the Presiding Prophet, T.B Joshua.

Mr Tettey Yehonu indicated that, “the place was too small to manage a congregation of this magnitude”, and suggested that the Accra Sports Stadium or the independence square were more suitable alternatives to handle a crowd of that magnitude.

Meanwhile, officials of the Church who say this is the first time people have died in any of their services worldwide, have told Citi News they did all in their power to save the situation.

Reverend Sam Mc-Canan is a Reverend at the Synagogue Church of all Nations in Accra said: “The happening yesterday at Spintex is unprecedented, we are used to crowds and huge numbers but not something like this. We are a crowd puller, but we are not used to a number like this. This is a first of this kind, and we are very devastated about it”.

“…We are going to do a thorough work to ensure this does not repeat itself. Everything started orderly this morning, until 30 minutes when we heard a stampede outside the office”.

“We went outside then saw some casualties lying outside there, and others trampled over. We cancelled the meeting and called the national ambulance to intervene”.

Celebrities / Keturah Hamilton Finally Speaks On Jim Iyke & Nadia Buari Affair by Ckariam: 10:07am On May 21, 2013
It is usually when things are tough that people remember God. Nadia Buari may be smiling that she has found her right man but she should learn from her predecessor. Keturah Hamilton has been in pains, reading, seeing all the activities of her ex Jim Iyke with his new lover Nadia Buari on the internet.
Everyone agrees that relationships are best and sweeter at the beginning.
While she has given up on bad boy Jim Iyke, she resorted to being her own comforter. On the 13th of may, she tweeted that " tough times never last, tough people do".
The pain was so unbearable, she could not sleep so she tweeted the next day early morning around 2:49AM being the 14th may," we met for a reason, either you are a blessing or a lesson". Jim Iyke enjoying his new romance, the beautiful skin of Nadia, the sumptuous lips will not even consider the feelings of poor Keturah.
And it came to pass that Keturah Hamilton resorted to divine intervention to know for real if all these stress and heartbreak is worth it. Ask and it shall be given you, behold she got an answer. She prayed the entire time by 2:14 PM the same day, she tweeted again "I prayed to the Lord.He answered my prayer, and took my worries (Jim Iyke) away".
Keturah Hamilton has been delivered from Jim Iyke, he is now free to hold hands with Nadia Buari at the VGMA and follow her to her house.
Despite her worries vanishing, the thoughts of Jim Iyke dealings with her still lingered. Check out her other tweets and judge for yourself.

"Whoever digs a pit will fall into it, And he who rolls a stone will have it roll back on him"
7:55pm - 17 May 13
"God is setting me up for the greatest feast ever, right in front of my enemies" [Jim Iyke & Nadia Buari?]
2:47am - 18 May 13

"If u prayed for my down fall u should get your refund back! I declare no weapon formed against me shall prosper# Amen"
5:42pm - 18 May 13

This tweet is for Nadia Buari, she ought to be careful of Jim Iyke.
"Never sweat over something that's not officially yours..."
1:12am - 20 May 13
There is no greater comfort than that from the scripture she tweeted "I'm the vine,You are the branches. He who abides in me, I in him bears much fruit; for without me you can do nothing. John 15:5

Religion / Ghana Bishop Reveals That Pastor Chris & TB Joshua Are Agents Of Satan by Ckariam: 12:13pm On May 20, 2013
Bishop Isaac Owusu Bempah, Founder and Leader of the Glorious Word Power Ministries International, has labeled two of Nigeria’s celebrated pastors as partners in winning souls for the devil.

In the godly words of the controversial Owusu Bempah, the founding President of Believers' LoveWorld Incorporated also known as "Christ Embassy", Dr Christian Oyakhilome (popularly known as "Pastor Chris"wink and General Overseer of The Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN), Prophet Temitope Balogun (aka TB) Joshua, are not “true men of God” but leaders of occults, winning souls for the devil.

And this claim, according to Owusu-Bempah, is based on God’s revelation to him in a vision as well as his own analysis of the scripture, works and conduct of the two popular heads of two religious organisations in Africa.

Owusu-Bempah said he once heard Pastor Chris saying he saw nothing wrong with homosexuality and lesbianism and wondered which true man of God would lead his flock with such beliefs.

“No doubt he [Pastor Chris] is a friend and partner of TB Joshua”, Owusu-Bempa noted, claiming both men are dubious men of God who have a pact with the devil.

He was speaking with Okay FM’s Kwame Nkrumah Tikese last week.

For Owusu Bempah, Nigerians have allegedly realized the dubious character of the Nigerian televangelist faith healer and founding president of Christ Embassy and his partnership with TB Joshua and have consequently chased him out of the country to South Africa, where he presently resides.

On TB Joshua, Owusu-Bempa claimed he once saw him with his feet on the floor preaching, an incident he said revealed to him that TB Joshua was not from God.

“When you see anyone claiming to worship God who worships with his feet on the ground, he’s an occultist. And TB Joshua is an occultist.

“Ask yourself how TB Joshua, who claims God called him, worships with his feet on the ground? Let me tell you if you go to any church and you see the leader worshiping with his feet on the ground, it’s a sign of demonism; it’s occultic. People like that follow spirits that are not of God. It is occultic.”

Asked what makes him judge his fellow preacher man as not being of God besides his criticisms that TB Joshua does not wear shoes, he said he once saw TB Joshua in a vision as a strange animal with two horns, a wolf-like face with wolf-like teeth and the tongue of a snake, with blood all over his lips.

According to him, God later revealed that TB Joshua was an occultist who did not draw his spiritual powers from God.

“Some time ago, I used to like TB Joshua. I was watching him on television, and the Lord opened my eyes. ‘I saw him with horns on his head, and he had the face of a wolf. His tongue was that of a snake and he had blood smeared all over his mouth.”

“Immediately, I rushed into my bedroom, and the Lord told me that he wasn’t from Him but was working under the authority of bad spirits,” the pastor added.

That was when I realized TB Joshua was demonic and not of God, he claimed.

The man who has himself been labeled a false prophet by some of his critics, advised Ghanaians not to be misled by signs of wonders and so-called men of God whose powers do not come from God.

He also accused TB Joshua in particular of sometimes faking miracles to win the confidence of his flock. “He can perform a clean miracle today and contaminate it with a lot of fake ones”.

Joshua claimed his “own junior pastor went to his church to be healed. He was forced to sit in a wheel chair and made to claim before the cameras that he had received his healing even though he hadn’t. He returned to the country and within two weeks, he passed away”, Owusu-Bempah stated.

He again cautioned Ghanaians not to be in a hurry to attend the services of Prophet TB Joshua since he is the “anti-christ.”

“If you are a pastor who worked under him and he gets to know you want to reveal his secrets, he kills you directly,” Owusu-Bempah alleged.

“If no one is willing to say this, I will say it: TB Joshua is the anti-christ and an agent of the devil...I know of a pastor who attended his church, and when he should tell you about what he saw, your mouth would drop,” he stated.

Religion / 4 Dies At T.B Joshua Church Today by Ckariam: 9:10pm On May 19, 2013
Four persons have been confirmed dead at the Spintex Road branch of the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) founded by Prophet T.B. Joshua in Accra.

The tragic incident occurred after a stampede ensued at the church Sunday during the distribution of free holy water.

Greater Accra Police Public Relations Officer DSP Freeman Tetteh confirmed the death to Joy News and said the bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the 37 and Police Hospital mortuaries.

Some 13 persons were also severely injured during the incident, officials have said.

He said the incident happened around 8:30 am shortly after the announcement that the holy water was going to be distributed for free.

According to DSP Tettey, the church was advised by the Police to truncate the service, which they did.

Thousands of people had flocked the church in pursuit of healing, spiritual and financial breakthrough.

The holy water, according to many TB Joshua followers, is acclaimed to be the panacea to the many spiritual afflictions.

The church is yet to formally issue a statement on the incident.

Celebrities / Glo X Factor To Drop Reggie Rockstone Of Ghana by Ckariam: 9:41am On Apr 29, 2013
We all know the idiom Honesty is the best policy. That even in situations where it is useful to lie, you should always say the truth. It is even a more serious issue when brand ambassadors tell lies to the public. A brand ambassador represents an organization in a positive manner. It takes skills and a certain amount of expertise and integrity to be a good brand ambassador

It is critical that a brand ambassador be an effective and clear communicator. The ambassador needs to speak and enunciate clearly. He or She also must sense how best to communicate what needs to be conveyed.
On the 18th April 2013 at Aphrodisiac night cub, Reggie Rockstone was interviewed by Gladys Owiredu host of the MultiTV Showbiz review, concerning speculations that he would be one of the Judges at the X Factor. He denied such development and few days later, he tweeted that he is one of the judges.
Why did he lie about it? Only Reggie can answer that, but there are implications for dishonesty.
Depending on how Glo position themselves, if conscious of what their brand ambassadors are doing. As a brand, you buy into the attributes of the star, and if you don’t get those, then you have a right to question the relationship.
Glo may also decide to give him a second chance since a lot of efforts has gone into the X factor preparation, and pulling out will affect the entire plan but that does not speak good of Glo as well.
