Even though i condemn the killing of innocent people, i think the Igbo's need to be law abiding and respect their host for peace to thrive. Not everyone will be peaceful and accommodating like the yoruba's who ignored several provocations from the Igbo's despite calling Lagos a no man's land, calling yoruba's tenants in lagos, and calling Oba of lagos names for stating his opinion concerning governorship elections. Even though we are one Nigeria, i think the Igbo's should stop their dominating attitude and let peace reign when they are away in the SW or North sad
BusinessNigeria’s CBN Orders Local Lenders To Accept Cheques Into Savings Accout by cnwokike(op): 2:22pm On Aug 03, 2016
Do you think this will be helpful?

LAGOS—The Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, yesterday, directed banks operating in the country to accept deposit of cheques into savings account and to begin to embed Bank Verification Number, BVN in payment cards.
The CBN, in a circular signed by Director, Banking & Payments System Department, Dipo Fatokun, dated July 28, 2016, sent to all banks and financial institutions and released, yesterday, stated: “The CBN in furtherance of its efforts at strengthening the Nigerian payments system hereby issues the following directives: “The removal of fixed interest rate on credit cards; Discontinuation of actual address verification in account opening for customers with customers with the BVN; Banks should begin to embed BVN biometric data in payment cards issued henceforth, to facilitate offline BVN verification and biometric based customer authentication on such payment devices as Automated Teller Machines, ATMs, Point of Sales Terminals, POS, Kiosks, etc.”
Other directives by the CBN to banks include: “Approval of BVN Watch-listing modalities and release by CBN of necessary Credit Risk Management System (CRMS) data, to facilitate its use for enriching the BVN watch-list; savings account customers with BVN should be allowed to deposit cheques worth not more than N2,000,000.00 (Two million naira) into their accounts, per customer, per day.
Emefiele CBN Governor Emefiele CBN Governor It will be recalled that in furtherance of efforts in the development of a safe, reliable and efficient payments system in Nigeria, the CBN in conjunction with the Bankers’ Committee, undertook some major initiatives. One of such was the launching of the BVN Project in February 2014, which was sponsored by the bankers committee.
The CBN had observed the progress so far in the implementation of BVN Project. In order to increase the tempo in the enrolment by the Deposit Money Banks (DMBs) customers on the the BVN, and to start reaping the benefits of the project, it is imperative to stipulate milestone for the implementation of the Project. The CBN had in an earlier circular stated: “All stakeholders are hereby advised to note and implement the following: That by March 2015, transactions valued at N100,000,000.00 (One hundred million Naira) and above, should be allowed for customers with the BVN; (These include, but not limited to, money transfers, loans, contingencies, etc). It saidt that by June 2015, all banks’ customers should have BVN. Any bank customer without the BVN would be deemed to have inadequate Know Your Customer, KYC.
DMBs should intensify efforts to sensitize their customers on the aforementioned development and enrol them for the BVN accordingly. It further said that DMBs are required to submit to NIBSS, as part of their weekly returns on Customers Account Details, the account status of customers that have submitted their BVN and those that have not. NIBSS in turn, will render consolidated returns to the CBN, on weekly basis, starting from 1st October 2015.”
It should be noted also that the CBN had told banks operating in the country that bank accounts without the BankVerification Number (BVN) would be operated as “No Customer Initiated Debit”. The apex bank said this in a circular titled: “Classification on Accounts with BVN Related Issues” sent to all commercial banks and posted on its website. The circular had said that such accounts would remain dormant until the account holder obtains and attaches the BVN to the account. The circular read: “It has, however, come to our notice, that some customers could not link their BVN to their accounts.
This is due to discrepancies between the record on the BVN database and the records on the core banking applications of the DMBs. “Such customers can approach their bankers for correction, but some of the banks could not effect the corrections.” The apex bank, in the circular, said that in view of this development, it had become imperative for the CBN to issue the clarifications. It said that such clarifications included corrections of Date of Birth on the BVN record.
This should be allowed once, with supporting documents, evidencing the correct date of birth. The CBN said that change of names due to marriage should be allowed with supporting documents, such as marriage certificates or affidavits, among others. The apex bank said that minor correction of names, due to misspelling should be allowed, with supporting documents such as international passport, showing the correct name. According to CBN, change of names that are totally different should only be allowed after customer has produced supporting documents. The CBN had said that this should be reported to the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) as a suspicious transaction by the bank customer.

CrimeBricklayer Abducts Two Children, Sells Three-year-old For N1, 500 by cnwokike(op): 12:28pm On Jul 29, 2016
A suspected child abductor, Ola Ibikunle, has been detained by the police after he was caught with a four-year-old girl in the Oyero area of Ijoko, Ogun State.

It was learnt that Ibikunle, a bricklayer, had held his victim, Eniola, by the neck and was about to strangle her in an uncompleted building when he was caught by passersby.

The suspect, who confessed to have stolen a three-year-old boy and sold him for N1,500, was later handed over to operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the Agbado Police Division.

PUNCH Metro gathered that Eniola and her 11-year-old sister, Opeyemi, were following their father, Segun Quadri, to a church in Ijoko around 2pm on Tuesday.

The father was said to have gone some distance ahead when the suspect ambushed the children and abducted Eniola.

The victim’s sister, Opeyemi, reportedly raised the alarm which caught the attention of some passersby.

The suspect was reportedly met in an uncompleted building while trying to strangle the girl.

An angry mob had beaten him up before the police arrived on the scene.

Ibikunle, who hails from Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, told our correspondent that Eniola was his second victim.

The suspect, who spoke in Yoruba, confessed to have stolen a three-year-old boy around the Ijoko area sometime in June and sold him to a man in the Sango area for N1,500.

He said, “I am a bricklayer, but I use child abduction to augment my wages. A man in the Sango area contracted me to always get children for him. I don’t know what he uses them for. Last month, I abducted a boy of about three years and sold him to the man for N1,500.

“This girl (Eniola) was the second child I would abduct, but I did not succeed.”

The victim’s father, Segun, said he and the children were already late for a church programme on that day which made him to walk faster than them.

He said, “The incident happened around 1pm on Tuesday. We had a programme in our church and we were late. Since Opeyemi is older, I thought they should be able to find their way to the church.

“I had gone some distance ahead when some people called me that Opeyemi said her younger sister had been abducted. She said the abductor escaped with Eniola to an uncompleted building and she led us there. We met him holding her by the neck.”

A police source told our correspondent that efforts were being made to apprehend the buyer of the abducted children.

“The suspect has confessed to the crime and he stated that he sells his victims to a man in the Sango area. But he has yet to mention the name of the kingpin. Some operatives followed him to the area twice, but he did not lead them to the man’s house. We are going to ensure that we track him down,” the source said.

The Ogun State acting Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the suspect would be further investigated.

He said, “It is a case of suspected child stealing. The police were able to arrest the suspect with the help of residents. The Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, has directed that the suspect should be transferred to the command headquarters for a thorough investigation.”

PoliticsRecession Tops Trending On Google, As Anambra State Leads Search In Nigeria by cnwokike(op): 10:33am On Jul 28, 2016
Perhaps there’s been some uncertainty about whether Nigeria’s economy is fully in a recession or just “technically” in recession, thanks to recent comments on the issue by CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele and Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun. Local interest in the term peaked in the past three months, with questions about the recession in Nigeria trending on Google in July. For those who may still be still in the dark about the state of the economy , it may be a good idea to pluck a leaf from the tree of knowledge growing in Anambra State. Anambra currently tops the list of states in Nigeria searching for “recession” and other related terms. Perhaps the curiosity of the gentlemen traders at Iweka road, Onitsha, who just needed to know why all this fuss about a recession, sent the state to the head of the Search list, trumping cosmopolitan Abuja and Lagos, as seen below. *Anambra State. *Federal Capital Territory. *Rivers State.*Lagos State. So why are residents of other States not searching for terms related to the recession? Unfortunately, Google has no answers to that question, but globally, Nigeria is one of the top three countries with the most searches for the term. In other words, we are not alone on this one -even good old stable Canada is worried. United Arab Emirates, Singapore, Nigeria, Canada, Ireland, South Africa and U.S.A Below is a list of questions people are asking in Nigeria about the recession. You may want to Google numbers 6 and 9 while you are at it. *Economic recession in nigeria? *what is recession / recession definition *what is economic recession *difference between recession and depression *recession proof businesses *how to survive in economic recession *how to add value during a recession *when is an economy in recession *how to make money in a recession *causes of recession Nigeria’s recession was triggered by a dip in government revenues and spending in the wake of the fall in global crude oil prices. It’s likely to be a bumpy ride ahead for the country, so it’s important to live by the first rule for surviving a recession- Start saving money now.

You still have not addressed the issues.
QuotaSystem:
Trash.

If OBJ so brilliantly diversified the economy during his eight years, did Jonathan reverse it back to a mono economy? Or can you explain why you're suffering right now?

We know a poor production base lies at the root of our economic problems, which is a consequence of lack of supporting infrastructure such as electricity, and leads to import induced inflation. We simply cannot remain an import based economy and thrive in the global economic space.

It is however glaringly obvious that the failure of previous administrations (particularly those that reigned over record high oil prices) to diversify the economy from oil which would have cushioned the effects of fall in oil price, is a critical and principal causative factor, because it has handicapped this government in its ability to quickly provide infrastructure and develop non oil revenue sources. The paucity of funds limits the capacity of the government to do a quick turn around of the present economic situation, although it's clearly a work in progress.

This is not about passing blame, but about acknowledging the dire situation we have found ourselves in as well as the efforts that the present administration is making in righting the wrongs of old.

If the above write-up was not tripe already, I'd have advised that you attach the oil prices that prevailed both under OBJ and GEJ to give it balance. Oh well.

Keep wailing at your self exclusion from this government, but your deceit of masking the frustration under such deceit will be firmly resisted.
PoliticsSoutherners Are More Nigerian Than The Northerners by cnwokike(op): 9:18am On Jul 22, 2016
In 2007 when Chief Olusegun Obasanjo sought for 3rd term in office as the President of Nigeria, I was vehemently against the move. I wish I knew what I know now at that time, I would have given my all to support the bid.
You may be wondering why the talk of OBJ now in 2016, and I will say why not talk about a man who was truly a statesman and not just mere politician like we have witnessed in the last administration and the current administration.

In 1999, when former President Obasanjo, a Southerner was elected, he distributed the positions in his kitchen cabinet in such a way that did not favour his state, region or ethnic group. And this has distinguished him as a true statesman, who has moral authority in any part of Nigeria. He appointed Ufot Ekaette from South-South as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation. His National Security Adviser was Gen. Aliyu Mohammed Gusau from the North-West. His Chief of Staff was Gen. Abdullahi Ahmed from the North-Central. His ADC was Col. Giwa Amu from the South-South. He appointed Andy Uba from South-East as his special assistant on domestic matters. Gen. T.Y Danjuma from the North-East was minister of Defence, Admiral Ibrahim Ogohi from the North-Central was chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Victor Malu from North-Central was Chief of Army Staff, Air Marshal Isaac Alfa from North-Central was Chief of Air staff, Musiliu Smith from South-West was the Inspector General of Police and Col. Sunday Are was Director-General of the Department of State Services.

Compare this with President Buhari’s appointments: NSA, Gen Babagana Mungono, North-East; Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari, North-East, SGF Babachir David Lawal, North-East; ADC, Lt. Col Muhammed Lawal Abubakar, North-West; CSO, Abubakar Usman, North-West; DG DSS, Lawal Daura, North-West; Minister of Defence, Gen. Mansur Mohammed, North-West; CDS, Gen. Abayomi Olonisakin, South-West; Chief of Army Staff, Gen. Tukur Buratai, North-East; Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Saddique Abubakar, North-East, Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas, South-South; IGP, Ibrahim Idris, North-Central. Buhari, a Northerner, has given more appointments to the North in contrast with Obasanjo – a Southerner, who gave more appointments to the North, and this is not statesmanlike enough.
Though I beg all the “wailers” to pardon me. I support the current nepotic government during the campaign. How would I have known that CHANGE has gotten another definition? Its seems CHANGE in the Nigerian context is chanji – lopsidedness. Afterall, my vote for change did not count as I am classified as 5%.

The only thing that has kept the nation going in this recession period we are through, in my own observation are the legacies of great Ebora, Baba Iyabo. Check the current happenings in Venezuela, then you will understand that if not for the foresight of my Mentor, Baba Iyabo, Are Mathew Olusegun Obasanjo, our case would have been worst off. Apart from promoting made in Nigeria goods, he also created and enabling environment for the growth and diversification of the economy. The eight years he was in power were the most peaceful eight years in Nigeria under democratic rule. What was the secret? All the geo political zones were carried along in the scheme of things and significant strides were recorded in the immediate post Military era.
If Jonathan was said to clueless, how would we classify the current administration? Obasanjo never blamed the Military regime for the challenges when he took up power in 1999. He got into work and with 2 years Nigerian has a sigh of relief. Most Civil servants started building houses, buying cars and their overall wellbeing improved. Fast forward to the present day, it’s now like if the Jonathan led administration has not been blamed in any official speech by the FG, the speech is not yet official.

In conclusion, now is the time to start preparing for 2019. We don’t need CHANGE any more we need progress.

The comment was made in a future tense. And also note that Nigerians dont value what they have. They always look forward to imported goods, foods etc.
Bolustic:

It's not that I'm not a lover of good news but I am doubting the quoted assertion.

How possible is it to plan export rice when a bag is still 15,000 naira in most part of Nigeria? Is it possible to export when you're not even self sufficient? If this is so, why is rice still being imported from Thailand, Benin and Niger Republics?

Is it that Anambra is not giving it enough publicity or what?

Christianity EtcRe: But Why Would God Allow Someone To Be Killed While Preaching His Words ? by cnwokike(m): 5:11pm On Jul 11, 2016
You cannot question God.

But we all will answer to deeds.
tayooluwole:
I have heard many cases of God's word preachers who have been killed, slaughtered and brutally mutilated while preaching or on other duties in respect to biblical God's commandment. Many were burnt alive while withing the church premises praying and praising God, many captured and were easily slaughtered, many were captured within their own house, raped and eventually killed and many more cases like that.

Seriously, all these occurrences left me with one critical question that has been dominating my mind for years, that why would God keep silent while such horrific murder is being unleashed on his consistent servant ? Why can't God, weather spiritually or physically, prevent such tragedy, to at least encourage other worshipers and consolidate the believe that God is truly mighty as it is being claimed. Preventing such tragedy, to me, has the efficacy of preventing many people from waking up one day and start thinking at all weather God exist or not.
Should we say our so called popular pastors, knows that there is no divine assistance they can enjoy while facing assassinating temptation and that is why most of them move all around with sophisticated security outfit...

I beg, rational whosiper should come to my rescue in answering this question ooo...

3. Will the job give you opportunity to improve yourself?
4. Can you save up something from the proceeds?
5. Do you think that taking up this job will help improve your capacity in certain skills required for building a successful career?
6. Have you prayed about it?

I'm roughly 2-3 months away from rounding off my NYSC programme and I just got a job with a telecomm firm and they resolved to paying 60k per month (after tax). This really has nothing to do with pride as some people might assume, just that I'm somewhat disturbed that the sum is not 'okay' enough, considering the harsh realities confronting the economy presently. I'm expected to start soon and I'm so confused, whether to accept or reject the offer.
