Mr, please I would not want to trade words with you here, but I would rather advise you to learn how to mind your business. And for the record, I am not a fool. I will not want to insult because maturity does not call for that. stpat1:[/s] |

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is investigating possible lodgement and distribution of the slush political funds distributed by the former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs Diezani Allison-Madueke, in First Bank of Nigeria. FBN Holdings Plc, the parent and holding company for First Bank of Nigeria and its former subsidiaries, at the weekend confirmed that the EFCC is investigating the bank because of alleged connections to Diezani’s funds. In a regulatory filing at the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) yesterday, the company stated that EFCC has invited an executive director of First Bank, Mr. Dauda Lawal in connection with the Diezani’s funds and he has been cooperating fully with the anti-corruption agency. EFCC had two weeks ago also visited Access Bank and Sterling Bank in what appeared to be an industry-wide investigation of the use of the banking system to launder and distribute slush political funds. EFCC had earlier arrested the managing director of Fidelity Bank in connection with the ‘Diezani’s funds’. Both Access Bank and Sterling Bank had clarified that the visits by the EFCC were not connected to the Diezani’s slush political funds or the alleged diversion of arm funds linked to the former National Security Adviser, Col Sambo Dasuki (rtd), otherwise known as Dasukigate. In a statement to the NSE, Sterling Bank had affirmed that it did not hold account for “the public officer from the previous administration to which this matter (EFCC’s visit to the bank) has been linked either officially or otherwise”. Sterling Bank explained that while the reason for the visit by the EFCCwas not immediately clear, it has now been confirmed that the investigation is related to the banking relationship of a non-bank financial institution that is a client of Sterling Bank Plc. “We affirm for the public records that the bank does not hold the account of the public officer from the previous administration to which this matter has been linked either officially or otherwise; the non-bank financial institution (Asset Management Company) in question purchased a number of loans on a recourse basis from Sterling Bank Plc on commercially acceptable terms and this is the link of the concern raised by the EFCC to Sterling Bank Plc,” Sterling Bank stated. http://thenationonlineng.net/first-bank-admits-efcc-investigation-diezani-funds/

The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu on Thursday, May 12, released a poem from Kuje Prison in Abuja. The letter which was sent by IPOB to NAIJ.com was said to have been released through a lawyer representing Kanu. Sit back, relax and enjoy yourself while you read through Kanu’s poem below. The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu I am Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of Indigenous people of Biafra and also the director of radio Biafra. I have restored Biafra without a gunshot, I have destroyed Nigeria with truth and I have conquered Nigeria with Chiukwuokikeabiama. They waited for me to bomb and shoot, but i refused to use metallic bullet and atomic bombs, I only used intellectual bullets and bombs and I have flawlessly won the war. I stood just ordinary radio station and propagated the gospel of Chukwuokikeabiama, the word of God is power and that power have destroyed Nigeria and restored Biafra. I observed freedom of speech and fearlessly preached truth, I am fearless even before death because am prophesy of over 400 years ago. If God is not man then his prophesy shall come to pass and those that stand against God will know Chiukwuokikeabiama is creation. I have lawfully followed stipulated procedures for self-determination and have never been involved in any form of violence or crime, I have always told you Biafrans to be disciplined and law-abiding and you have made me proud. I am grateful that we are whiter than white and whiter than snow. We have no dishonour neither do we have any spot, they have killed us mercilessly and we have never killed back yet they arrested us and tried to break us to betray Biafra. They arrested me for saying the truth, nothing but the truth. They arrested me for demanding Biafra, they arrested me for embracing freedom of speech. They conspired and arrested me for being lawful and demanding attention. They arrested me because peace is prohibited in Nigeria; they arrested me because dialogue is impossible in Nigeria. They arrested me because I refused to take up arms, they arrested me because I defeated them intellectually. When a man is defeated by reason, he sought to discharge his frustration on justice. I am a prisoner of conscience and I am sure the world still have conscience. I am Nnamdi Kanu, I have chosen death, I shall die for Biafra and let my death give my generation a better life, let my death be a guarantee for a better future, let my death be your smile and let my death end your marginalization, subjugation, slavery and tears. I am Nnamdi Kanu the lion that chose death over the abuse of his people. I instead die than renounce Biafra, give me Biafra or kill me is where I stand. I have been arrested for nothing, I am a prisoner of conscience, they are here to break me, to make me renounce Biafra but they don’t know me, they don’t know Biafra is my religion and they don’t know renouncing Biafra is a death sentence, is like committing suicide. In their widest dream shall I commit suicide and I assure them that days of reckoning will come, for Chiukwuokikeabiama shall avenge the death of His children. I have taken an oath with the name of God that I shall never betray or give up Biafra because I knew this day will come. I am physically and psychologically prepared for this period. I took the oath and staked my family, my generations and everything I am, and so giving up Biafra in any condition is impossible, even at gun point, I will only accept my inevitable death than renounce Biafra. I have been arrested before but this time is more severe, the harder the price is the closer the Kingdom of God, even Yawehesua prayed that only if this cup will pass over him. They came with every tactics they know to deceive me into signing off Biafra, they promised me freedom, heaven and earth, but I told devil to get behind me for the Kingdom of God worth nothing man can offer. I am more intelligent than them and I will defeat them to a point nothing will be left to fight for, Biafra will be and it has come to stay. I appeared in the court on 19th Feb 2016, in the face of this persecution to coerce me into giving up Biafra, I wore a clean white cloth and tagged Biafran flag under the pocket of my white lace. I tagged the flag there because that is where life is and this is to tell you that Biafra is why i breathe. I will never ever disappoint you and will die for Biafra to come. The Biafran flag badge tagged on my white lace is to remind the world that I am resolute and shall never in this life accept their gold to sale Biafra. The world has no option except giving me Biafra and everything in Nigeria shall be at risk if anything happens to me. Biafrans love me and together we have chosen death or give us Biafra, should anything happen to me then my command remains. Meanwhile, I have followed you great Biafrans and I must confess that I am satisfied, you have made me proud and my message to you all is to stay strong, remain resolute and focused. We must not give up, we should continue pushing strong, we should continue our peaceful protest because it is frustrating Nigerian government and we must keep spreading the message of Biafra and at the end we shall win. https://www.naij.com/828600-lion-chose-death-abuse-people-nnamdi-kanu-writes-poem-prison.html CC:lalasticlala; mynd44 |

The Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano, has launched a helicopter for aerial surveillance of the activities of herdsmen in the state. The governor, who stated this during the Workers’ Day celebration in Awka, the state capital, assured the people of the state that his administration had all it would take to prevent any attack by the herders. Obiano said that before the growing menace of the Fulani herdsmen in the country, he had set up a special committee to foster peace between farmers and the cattle grazers in the state. The committee, the governor noted, was made up of the leaders of the Hausa-Fulani community in the state, government officials, security agents and some representatives of agrarian communities across the state. Obiano said, “This committee has made the herdsmen to pay compensation to communities whose crops were destroyed by their cattle seven times in the past. And we have also paid compensation to the herdsmen when one community breached the peace against them. That is the nature of our engagement with them in Anambra State.” He warned that his administration would deal ruthlessly with the herdsmen should they become “needlessly hostile against their host communities.” Obiano added, “There is routine helicopter surveillance across the borders of the state to ensure that any suspicious gathering of people(herdsmen) or curious movements across the borders are quickly picked up and analysed by security experts.” The governor commended Anambra workers for their support to his administration, saying “if Willie is working, then the workers are also working.” He restated his administration’s commitment to workers’ welfare. Obiano added that the state government would consider a salary increase for workers once there was an increase in the state’s Internally Generated Revenue. The Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Anambra State chapter, Jerry Nnubia, had commended Obiano for putting up an excellent performance since he took over two years ago. Meanwhile, as the various pressure groups in the southern part of the country threaten to move Fulani herdsmen from their communities because of recent killings in Enugu and other southern states, the National Coordinator of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, Mr. Garus Gololo, has said such an action may ignite national crisis. Gololo told one of our correspondents, “It is only in Oyo that there are up to 2,000 herdsmen; in other parts of the South-West, they are not more than between 200 and 800 while in the North, there are over 30 million southerners.” According to him, many of the southerners have big houses in their original homes especially in Igbo land but such houses are empty because a lot of them are staying in the North. He said the National Assembly had intervened in the crisis between farmers and herdsmen, insisting that “if the herdsmen have not committed offences that warrant their being forced out of the South, they should not be forced out.” http://www.punchng.com/anambra-monitors-herdsmen-helicopter/

Picture this scene -you are sitting at your desk or maybe even in a meeting and your mobile phone rings. You see a strange number and out of curiosity you decide to pick the call. The caller introduces him/herself as a Recruiter from XYZ Company. Your first thought is," How the heck did they get my number?!” Irritated, you are about to ask him/her how he got your mobile number and ask them never to call you again. But hey, not so fast! That is a Recruiter calling. The one person who can change your life and career in one fell swoop! Wiki describes a Recruiter or Head hunter (it always sounds like some ritualist when put that way) as someone engaging in recruitment or the solicitation of individuals to fill jobs or positions within an organization. They may work in an HR department or on an outsourced, third party basis. Okay, you will argue that I am making a case for Recruiters-which is what I am (no shame there!). But it is a decent case to make! Your Recruiter can change your life, and that is the truth of the matter. In fact, I wish I could change my life/ career as well and as often as I change it for others! Here are a few reasons why you should pick up that call, move out of earshot and listen attentively when your ‘friendly neighborhood’ Recruiter calls. Recruiters make it their business to know the plum jobs in the market. They typically achieve this through personal contacts in corporate organizations, networking with other Recruiters, and unfortunately, having to pound the streets in back-breaking business development. The executives in these corporates many times have positions they want to fill discreetly, wishing to avoid publicity and possible internal upheavals that advertising a position online or in newspapers can cause. He informs his 'favorite' Recruiter who then calls you, if he believes you are qualified. Secondly, you and your Recruiter have slightly different objectives that work very well together. You want a plum job, a career move that will take you from your N10 million per annum to N22 million per annum, perhaps more. Your Recruiter wants to provide his client with the best candidates possible for the role. Do you see the congruence of purpose here? Well, especially if you are one of those qualified? It's a win-win situation for all three parties involved- Recruiter, Client and Candidate if you will take that call. Thirdly, once you take that call from a recruiter (and you treated him or her nicely) there is a tendency for a relationship to initiate on the spot. The Recruiter then quietly slips into the role of your adviser, compensation expert, labor rights advocate, lawyer....even P.A. sometimes- considering how many times you have to remind some candidates to attend interviews and other forms of assessment they agreed to in the first place! Some Recruiters have been known to act as marriage counselors! (Just kidding!). The important thing is that a relationship develops and I have had cases where I have guided the careers of my candidates (now friends) way beyond the scope of work for many, many years. This of course includes, where off-limits rules do not apply, informing the candidate-friends about new opportunities as they arise. Another important reason you must pick that call from your Recruiter is that your interaction with him will help you establish your worth in the market place. I have seen managers who were shocked at what they could potentially earn in their fields but had buried their heads in the corporate sands of one firm, like the proverbial ostrich!! The Recruiter tells you what you are actually worth as it is his job to know what salary ranges are across sectors in the economy. There is also the educational role the Recruiter plays in the lives of the candidates. A candidate who has not been interviewed in say, 5 years, usually is tentative and 'un-confident' when he or she has to confront the job market. Part of the role the modern Recruiter now plays is to prepare candidates to face the whole job process. Many firms (ours inclusive) now offer outplacement services which revolve around helping candidates who are leaving job roles to resettle in new jobs- career transition and new career development in a nutshell. Aspects of outplacement include CV development, change management, psychometrics, interviewing and negotiation skills, etc. So, is your phone ringing? Check it! It could be your Recruiter that has come calling. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain by accepting that call. https://www./why-you-should-listen-when-recruiter-calls-chinedu-duru?trk=hp-feed-article-title-comment |

hello, I will need your insight on how to tackle this. disloman: |
Harriet Tubman, (born Araminta Ross; c. 1822[1] – March 10, 1913) was an African-American abolitionist, humanitarian, and a Union spy during the American Civil War. Born into slavery, Tubman escaped and subsequently made some thirteen missions to rescue approximately seventy enslaved families and friends, using the network of antislavery activists and safe houses known as the Underground Railroad. During the post-war era Harriet Tubman was an active participant in the struggle for women’s suffrage. According to Politico, “Harriet Tubman will bump Andrew Jackson from the front of the $20 bill while Alexander Hamilton will stay put on the $10 — a historic move that gives a woman prime placement on U.S. currency”. Ben Carson, Former Republican presidential candidate and retired neurosurgeon, expressed his love for Tubman and her accomplishments but implied that Harriet Tubman should be placed on the $2 bill as it ‘would be a more appropriate honor’. Tennessee Sen. Lamar Alexander also said Jackson shouldn’t be replaced with Harriet Tubman, arguing that ”history shouldn’t pit the former president against the anti-slavery activist’. Sen. Lamar said: “United States history is not Andrew Jackson versus Harriet Tubman. It is Andrew Jackson and Harriet Tubman, both heroes of a nation’s work in progress toward great goals. It is unnecessary to diminish Jackson in order to honor Tubman”. The decision stands, Harriet Tubman will be the first black woman on a national currency. Hillary Clinton supports the decision to put Harriet Tubman on the $20 bill. A woman, a leader, and a freedom fighter. I can't think of a better choice for the $20 bill than Harriet Tubman: https:///YcsZC4ZrKg -H — Hillary Clinton (@HillaryClinton) April 20, 2016 During a conference call, Wednesday, Treasury Secretary Jack Lew told reporters: “Today, I’m excited to announce that for the first time in more than a century, the front of our currency will feature the portrait of a woman, Harriet Tubman, on the $20 note. Her incredible story of courage and commitment to equality embody the ideals of democracy that our nation celebrates, and we’ll continue to value her legacy by honoring her on our currency. There are a number of options of how we can resolve this. We’re not taking Alexander Hamilton off our currency. The two things most important are the security of our money and getting this process to move as quickly as possible. Due to security needs, the redesigned $10 note is scheduled to go into circulation next. I’ve directed the Bureau of Engraving and Printing to work closely with the Federal Reserve to accelerate work on the new $20 and $5 notes. Our goal is to have all three new notes go into circulation as quickly as possible, while ensuring that we protect against counterfeiting through effective and sophisticated production”. Advocate for “Put a Woman on the Twenty Act in Congress” Rep. Luis Gutiérrez (D-Ill.), introduced a similar bill in the Senate) last year. He also commended the decision. Gutiérrez said in a statement: “There has been a lot of talk about putting a woman’s portrait on our money, but finally it sounds like Secretary Lew is putting our money where his mouth is. It is crazy that women have been mostly absent from our money up until now, with only a few exceptions”. An artist is making amazingly realistic - and creepy - cakes, and shocking people all over the world with her designs. Katherine Dey even runs tutorials, teaching people how to make cakes which look like undersea monsters, pigeons, human heads, and babies. Dey, who also paints and sculpts in New York, makes completely edible sweet treats which get strong responses from the people she serves them to. It's hard to stomach the idea of eating some of them, such as this brain with the stem attached: She told BuzzFeed: "I am inspired by a lot of things. I love that strange feeling I get when something looks real but it isn’t. Or when a cake doesn’t look particularly appetizing but it is a cake and it tastes delicious. "I like to make people feel two conflicting things at once. The subjects I choose are things that have interested me forever, be it anatomy, mushrooms, or portraiture. I love portraiture. Making a portrait of someone helps me to really see them. I love the details." http://www.telegraph.co.uk/food-and-drink/news/this-womans-creepily-realistic-cakes-will-freak-you-out/?cid=sf24633566&sf24633566=1

Boko Haram has been forced to produce its own fuel to power its motorbikes because of an acute petrol shortage caused by a military squeeze on supply lines. A senior military source said the Islamists were paying huge sums of money for jerrycans of fuel while a woman who recently escaped from the group said they were making groundnut oil into biodiesel. “Boko Haram were paying outrageous sums to get fuel and the incredible profit margin made young men defy the risk and take fuel to them,” said the source in the Borno state capital, Maiduguri. “The cutting off of fuel supplies has badly crippled Boko Haram and that has been made possible by blocking all identified supply routes and the crackdown on the suppliers,” he told AFP. Fuel vendors seeking to exploit the group’s need for fuel could sell each 25-litre jerrycan for 50,000 to 70,000 naira ($250-$350, 222-311 euros) each, said escapee Ya-Mairam Ya-Malaye. A jerrycan of fuel in Maiduguri costs only $13. But the risk of being caught up in a military aerial bombardment on Boko Haram positions has forced the vendors to stay away, said the security source. Babakura Kolo, a civilian vigilante assisting the military against the Islamic State group affiliate in Maiduguri, said the militants would pay any amount to get fuel. “It was a lucrative business for the fuel vendors,” said Kolo, who was involved in the crackdown against Boko Haram suppliers in the city. “But we have taken care of them and Boko Haram are feeling the crunch because they are out of supplies.” Previous reports have indicated the rebels are also running low on food. – Groundnut oil – Nigeria and its neighbours Cameroon, Chad and Niger began a concerted fight-back against Boko Haram in January last year, recapturing territory lost to the militants the previous year. President Muhammadu Buhari has said the rebels, whose insurgency has killed an estimated 20,000 people and forced some 2.6 million to flee since 2009, can no longer fight conventional warfare. Instead of its trademark hit-and-run attacks using pick-up trucks mounted with heavy machine guns, the insurgents have even mounted strikes on remote villages on horseback, bicycles or on foot. Ya-Mairam Ya-Malaye, a 57-year-old mother-of-eight who was among hundreds of women and children abducted from the town of Bama in September 2014, managed to escape Boko Haram last week. She said the group has devised a crude way of adding salt to oil extracted from groundnuts to make biodiesel for their motorcycles to mount attacks from their Sambisa Forest enclaves in Borno. “They confiscate the groundnuts (that) farmers in villages in and around Sambisa cultivated all-year-round from their farms and irrigation fields,” she explained from Maiduguri. “They crush the nuts using diesel-powered grinding machines to extract the oil to which they add salt to make it light and combustible.” Boko Haram had been getting fuel from young men who would bring the petrol to designated points near Sambisa (forest) for the fighters to pick, she added. Ya-Malaye said she was taken to Sambisa Forest from Bama and moved between camps as troops pushed further into the former game reserve in pursuit of the militants. The offensives and heightened border security made it difficult for the militants to receive deliveries from fuel vendors from Maiduguri and Cameroonian border towns, she added Read more at: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/04/boko-haram-facing-fuel-shortages-makes-security-sources-escapee/ |

The Industrial and Commercial Bank of China Limited, the world’s biggest lender, and Nigeria’s Central Bank on Tuesday signed an agreement on yuan transactions. The Director General of the Foreign Ministry’s African Affairs Department, Lin Songtian, told reporters that the agreement “means that the renminbi (yuan) is free to flow among different banks in Nigeria and the renminbi has been included in the foreign exchange reserves of Nigeria”. According to Reuters, the agreement was reached following a meeting between Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari and Chinese President, Xi Jinping. “Borrow Cheapest Possible Money” The agreement came before President Buhari attended the official opening ceremony of the Business Forum on China-Nigeria Production Capacity Cooperation holding in Beijing, China. A Nigerian government official had over the weekend said Nigeria was considering the possibility of issuing Chinese panda bond to make up for the deficit in the 2016 budget. Addressing reporters after a breakfast meeting with the business and investment community early on Saturday in Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial city, Finance Minister Kemi Adeosun said the government’s objective was to borrow the cheapest possible money. The breakfast meeting focused on the imperatives for fiscal discipline, investment and diversification of the domestic economy in the face of strong local and international headwinds such as the steady decline in oil prices and weak global economic growth. President Buhari is in China on official visit aimed at securing greater support from Beijing for the development of Nigeria’s infrastructure, especially in the power, roads, railways, aviation, water supply and housing sectors. At the official opening of the forum were Chairman of National Reform and Development Commission, Mr Xu Shaoshi, Nigeria’s Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Okechukwu Enemalah, National Security Adviser, Babagana Monguno and Minister of Foreign Affairs Geoffrey Onyeama. http://www.channelstv.com/2016/04/12/nigeria-china-bank-reach-agreement-yuan/

A python captured in Malaysia on Thursday is believed to be the largest snake ever captured. The Telegraph reports it is eight meters long and weighs 550 pounds. If confirmed, the reticulated python would be 33 centimetres (one foot) and 200 pounds larger than the current Guinness Book of World Records holder, the Missouri-based Medusa. Reticulated pythons are thought to be the world’s longest snakes. The monstrous snake was discovered under a tree by workers at a construction site in Paya Terubong, on the island of Penang. It took members of the civil defence department half an hour to capture the reptile. It is currently being held at civil defence headquarters while awaiting a transfer to the state wildlife department. ound in Southeast Asia, reticulated pythons are non-venomous constrictors. They are usually not a danger to humans, although they’ve got the strength to kill an adult male, and their jaws could open wide enough to swallow a teenager. Even if its size is confirmed this new specimen will not be the largest snake ever found. In 1912, a snake shot on the island of Sulawesi in Indonesia measured 10 meters in length. Fossils of Titanoboa, a 12 meter-long relative of modern boa constrictors that lived about 60 million years ago, were found in Colombia in 2009. http://news.nationalpost.com/news/world/largest-snake-ever-captured-eight-meter-half-ton-python-discovered-on-popular-malaysian-island cc: lalasticlala

o address the lingering fuel scarcity, the Nigerian President has reportedly summoned his Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr Ibe Kachikwu, for a brief on the supply of products across the country. Mr Kachikwu had to shelve his scheduled interaction with the media to attend the President’s summon. Channels Television’s State House correspondent confirmed that Mr Kachikwu was indeed sighted at the Presidential Villa on Tuesday but the outcome of the meeting was not revealed. According to the spokesperson of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Mr Garbadeen Mohammed, there is nothing unusual about the summons, as there is need for constant interaction between both of them. Nigerians would be hoping that the meeting yields result as they continue to grapple with fuel scarcity across the country. There are still long queues, high prices, and black marketers are having a ball. http://www.channelstv.com/2016/04/06/presidency-summons-kachikwu-fuel-scarcity/ |
