83% of the Republican proposed tax cuts goes to the top 0.1 percent of the population. Y’all were played (like we said you would be) when he told you there would be no tax on tips, no tax on social security and no tax on overtime. Drank the coolaid like mugus they are. They really thought others would suffer and they wouldn’t. From cuts to health and agriculture funding to fears of new tariffs negatively impacting local industries and consumers, Republican lawmakers are starting to push back against certain aspects of Trump's plans. And they are doing so carefully, acknowledging that voters want to shake up business-as-usual in the nation’s capital — and wanting to avoid Trump’s ire.
Sen. Katie Britt, R-Ala., recently pushed back on the administration’s funding reductions under the National Institutes of Health. The University of Alabama at Birmingham is a major recipient of that money, which has helped make it the state’s largest employer.
Britt told AL.com that “a smart, targeted approach is needed in order to not hinder life-saving, groundbreaking research at high-achieving institutions like those in Alabama.”
Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine, said the cap on indirect costs under NIH grants was “poorly conceived” and would impose “arbitrary cuts in funding for vital research at our Maine institutions.”
Among the top 20 states that take more money from the federal government than they sent in tax payments, 13 are solidly red states that voted for Trump in the last three elections, according to an analysis by the Rockefeller Institute of Government of the fiscal 2024 budget. Meanwhile, the top five states (and nine of the top 10) that send more money to the Treasury Department than they receive voted for Democrats in the last three presidential elections.
Trump’s tariffs have also ruffled feathers among some of his otherwise solid allies on Capitol Hill. That includes Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa — the Senate president pro tempore and chair of the Judiciary Committee — who protested when Trump threatened to levy tariffs on imports from Canada.
Grassley,” noted the high cost of fertilizer and asked for an exemption that protects Iowa farmers.
Sen. Patty Murray, D-Wash., the vice chair of the Appropriations Committee that oversees government funding, said Trump should go about his attempts to slash or freeze money in a different way: by winning congressional approval first.
“Running farmers out of business, derailing infrastructure projects, cutting cancer research and killing good-paying clean energy jobs isn’t just unpopular, it’s devastating for working people everywhere — and it is time Trump reverses his illegal funding freeze and DOGE cuts in their entirety,” Murray told NBC News. “Trump’s policies are hurting communities and families in red states and blue states. If Trump and Elon want to cut funding for cancer research and infrastructure projects, they need to send us a proposal and try and win the votes in Congress to do it. |

Saw this post online and I couldn’t have said it better "A day in the Life of Sue Republican.
Sue gets up at 6 a.m. and fills her coffeepot with water to prepare her morning coffee. The water is clean and good because some tree-hugging liberal fought for minimum water-quality standards.
With her first swallow of coffee, she takes her daily medication. Her medications are safe to take because some stupid commie liberal fought to insure their safety and that they work as advertised.
All but $10 of her medications are paid for by her employer's medical plan because some liberal union workers fought their employers for paid medical insurance - now Sue gets it too.
She prepares her morning breakfast, bacon and eggs. Sue's bacon is safe to eat because some girly-man liberal fought for laws to regulate the meat packing industry.
In the shower, Sue reaches for her shampoo. Her bottle is properly labeled with each ingredient and its amount in the total contents because some crybaby liberal fought for her right to know what she was putting on her body and how much it contained.
Sue dresses, walks outside and takes a deep breath. The air she breathes is clean because some environmentalist wacko liberal fought for laws to stop industries from polluting our air.
She walks to the subway station for her government-subsidized ride to work. It saves her considerable money in parking and transportation fees because some fancy-pants liberal fought for affordable public transportation, which gives everyone the opportunity to be a contributor.
Sue begins her work day. She has a good job with excellent pay, medical benefits, retirement, paid holidays and vacation because some lazy liberal union members fought and died for these working standards. Sue's employer pays these standards because Sue's employer doesn't want his employees to call the union.
If Sue is hurt on the job or becomes unemployed, she'll get a worker compensation or unemployment check because some stupid liberal didn't think she should lose her home because of her temporary misfortune.
It's noon and Sue needs to make a bank deposit so she can pay some bills. Sue's deposit is federally insured by the FSLIC because some godless liberal wanted to protect Sue's money from unscrupulous bankers who ruined the banking system before the Great Depression.
Sue has to pay her Fannie Mae-underwritten mortgage and her below-market federal student loan because some elitist liberal decided that Sue and the government would be better off if she was educated and earned more money over her lifetime.
Sue is home from work. She plans to visit her father this evening at his farm home in the country. She gets in her car for the drive. Her car is among the safest in the world because some America-hating liberal fought for car safety standards.
She arrives at her childhood home. Her generation was the third to live in the house financed by Farmers' Home Administration because bankers didn't want to make rural loans. The house didn't have electricity until some big-government liberal stuck his nose where it didn't belong and demanded rural electrification.
She is happy to see her father, who is now retired. Her father lives on Social Security and a union pension because some wine-drinking, cheese-eating liberal made sure he could take care of himself so Sue wouldn't have to.
Sue gets back in her car for the ride home, and turns on a radio talk show. The radio host keeps saying that liberals are bad and conservatives are good. He doesn't mention that Republicans have fought against every protection and benefit Sue enjoys throughout her day. Sue agrees: "We don't need those big-government liberals ruining our lives! After all, I'm self-made and believe everyone should take care of themselves, just like I have."’ Don’t be a Sue. Don’t vote against your own healthcare, environmental protections, financial security, manufacturing regulations etc. |

Oh good. then I’m happy for them. Will be harder for the nazis to kolobi their country if that’s the case. Ibime: lol una no Sabi UK.
There are 650 seats in UK.
107 are already off the table for Reform (Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland) who always vote for their National Independence parties or Labour.
73 are off the table in London
Add Liverpool (die hard Labour), Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, Leeds, Leicester, Derby, Nottingham and half the seats are gone. As in no chance of picking up even 20% of the vote in any parliamentary seat in these Cities.
We've not come to many other towns yet
Then of the half the seats that's left we have die hard Labour and die hard Conservative towns. Even if they take Conservative votes there, they are going nowhere.
Reform is dead on arrival. If they take more than 10 seats at the next election, it's been a great election. With Kemi leading the Conservatives, they could possibly do better and go up to 15. 30 is a number I will put my house on. |

I read about that too. Much like scientists often experiment on mice because they’re mammals. We can tell how things might affect us by how it affects them. Like the current popular weight loss medications (the glp1s) that have been found to reduce obesity at far drastic rates than any medications of their kind. Also now being studied to cure other problems like alcoholism and chronic kidney diseases. They have to test first on mice before proceeding to human trials. If you leave it to the right wing who only know how to propagandize, they’ll say the researchers are spending millions to help mice loose weight. IjeBos: I remember a while ago there was an article about the government spending millions on study of shrimp in the ocean or something(can't quite remember). The right wing media was lambasting it. So, I looked up the study of the shrimp and was surprised that it had very long term practical applications esp. for the military of how things move in fluid motion in deep water.
Just saying, somethings look and sound crazy, but always aren't.
In this case, these cups are a "bespoke self warming mug that is used for heating liquids and beverages on very long service missions on a particular military airplane." (based on reddit). It seems these mugs have to plug into these planes for power and not interfere with the highly specialized electronics in these airplanes. Here is an article from that thread of someone trying to find ways to make it cheaper. https://www.travis.af.mil/News/Features/Display/Article/1566000/travis-developing-new-hot-cup-handle-design-could-save-air-force-thousands/
So, it's not just a coffee mug you can get at a grocery store. It has to be specially designed for each plane and tested to make sure it doesn't interfere with it. It may still be somewhat overpriced though, but there will be a lot of outrage before people look into why it may cost so much. |

Ibime: Calm down. Reform.wont even win 30 seats at next election talkless of Farage becoming Prime Minister I don’t know about the UK but that’s what people thought about Trump too in his first term. “Surely that many people won’t vote for the well known New York City con man over a more qualified candidate just because the other candidate is a woman?” And sure they did. Even while he lost the popular vote then, it was astonishing to see how many people couldn’t get past we don’t want a woman president mindset. We often underestimate how people’s biases can erode their reason. I’ve heard it being called the normalcy bias. As a person you don’t want to cause yourself distress by thinking that there could possibly be that many racist or prejudiced people around you. So you dismiss it by saying surely that can’t happen. And then it happens and leaves you confused as to why such a huge number of people still harbor presumably archaic biases even to the point where they’ll vote against themselves to hold up those biases. I saw the videos of the attacks on black people in the UK. Would I be surprised if some of the same black people who possibly feared for their lives at that time still vote for the party behind the ideology that caused the attacks? No I wouldn’t be. |

Ilekokonit: The hard of hearing Nigerians who rush to defend Trump will not understand your writeup nor would they have read about the South African White Apartheid regime that imprisoned Nelson Mandela for 27 years for fighting against White minority rule in South Africa.
All some Nigerians do is to rush to comment without having the required exposure nor the full understanding of the issues at stake combined with their high dose of colonial mentality that is always thinking that a white, Indian or Chinese man can do no wrong and is always right on issues even when that white man is trying to enslave them into perpetuity.
The whole Western world is becoming more and more right wing racist by the day. Its only that Trumps own is not disguised.
From the extremely violent UK anti immigrant riots last August (where mosques were burnt, some black people were attacked by mobs of white men on the streets and mobs of very old and very young white men, women and children set fire to hotels housing immigrants) to the conservative party competing with the Reform party to be more anti immigrant than them to the Reform party leader Nigel Farage eventually winning a seat in parliament for the first time (after trying for close to 30 years) once he ramped up his anti immigrant rhetoric in a campaign where some of his party politicians said on camera that illegal refugees should be slaughtered and their families attacked and that the royal navy should shoot them for target practice once they stepped off the boat.
Only yesterday, the UK ruling Labour party not wanting to be left out of the immigrant bashing suddenly changed the rules such that a lot of refugees who have patiently waited for the 10 year period before being allowed to apply for UK citizenship will now no longer be entitled to UK citizenship FOREVER because they entered the UK via a dangerous route - e.g by boat or by hiding in lorries. A lot of these refugees were already assessed 10 years ago and were deemed to be genuinely fleeing for their lives from dangerous countries like Afghanistan or fleeing war in Sudan.
But for these desperate refugees who have waited patiently for 10 years according to the rules to claim UK citizenship are abruptly faced with the Labour party seeing that racism is now an election winner (and being emboldened by the amount of racist rhetoric Trump has gotten away with in just 3 weeks in power) have now jumped on the racist Anti immigrant rhetoric that has TOTALLY consumed the UK and it's politics to suddenly change the rules and deny these refugees the right to apply for UK citizenship even though a lot of them will be killed if they return to the countries they fled from - thus rendering them stateless which is against the law.
Then you have Germany where a Racist party may well win the next election.
We haven't yet factored in the perpetually drug addicted (Ketamine) hyperactive insomniac and Nazi saluting, Apartheid sympathizing Elon Musk whose parents got rich from Apartheid in South Africa and whose money helped the Buffoon called Donald Trump win a second term and Trump now wants to pay him back by allowing his white Afrikaner kin from South Africa emigrate to America while at the same time denying birth right citizenship to those born in America to legal migrants in clear breach of the US constitution.
It's not looking rosy for anyone with brown or especially black skin living in the West or hoping to move to the West as the West is now a toxic racist enclave and Nigerians can keep hailing and justifying racism all they want but sooner or later it will touch you if you live abroad and even if you don't live abroad, it will soon touch you because at this rate, black people especially Nigerians will soon find it near Impossible to get Visas of any sort to Western countries especially America. Just watch.
It has already started and our Chief of Defence Staff was recently refused a work related visa at the Canadian embassy.
So, Nigerians should continue hailing Trump and his racist crew. E go soon reach everybody. ‼️ |

The guy mentioned bleach, and Trump mentioned disinfectant, but trump mentioned the bleach. He asked have they tried something or experimented with something like that. Nowhere did he ask anyone to inject bleach.
this is from the nonsense you typed "Trump followed by saying supposing there’s a way to introduce those disinfectants and the light into the body. Maybe by injecting. He specifically mentioned injecting the disinfectants (of which bleach was an example used)."

It used to be that presidents are cautious of what they said because of the understanding that their words can have far reaching impacts. It comes with the highest office in the land. Everyone understood that. That’s why his stupid statement had health experts scrambling to tell people not to inject any disinfectants most of all bleach. As that was the specific example being talked about in that session. If you’re such an attention LovePeddler that you can’t shut up and let experts do their job of health advising, such that your unsolicited suggestions puts people at risk, then maybe you’re not mature enough to be president. You think if you apply enough gaslighting, we will go down an injecting bleach rabbit hole and forget that you guys supported him all through the time he was on the internet making lewd remarks about his own daughter ? Are you off to your WhatsApp group to borrow a response from that your one shared Maga brain cell ? Maybe get some gaslighting tips on how to explain away a grown grandfather lusting after his child. He didn’t mean it like that? Is that going to be your next response? Or maybe I need to buy his book to understand the true meaning. Ah |

IjeBos: The term TDS is insane. Unbeknownst to them they are describing themselves. I've never seen such a self delusion and an inability to be self reflective. They’re known for projecting so it didn’t even surprise me when I found out. I just couldn’t help the laughter that followed |
