But Biden put it in motion and made sure it was banned before he left office, so why put the blame on Trump that obviously changed his mind instead of lashing out on Biden and Democrats?
it was a bipartisan agreement. I’m unhappy with both sides as far as the ban is concerned.

But I won’t accept Trump acting like he’s a savior now. When we know he’s only interested in personal aggrandizement. And this wouldn’t even have happened if he didn’t start the Chinese fear mongering. Solving a problem you created doesn’t get you praise. We wouldn’t be in it if not for him.

The next 4 years are going to be insane.

1) Trump says he wants to Ban Tik Tok becasue it is a China spy tool
2.) Congress bans Tik Tok and it is signed into law
3.) Trump now says he wants to save Tik Tok (which again he called a Chinese spy tool) with an Executive Order.

So many layers of insanity here. The biggest being that the incoming President of the US thinks he can overturn a law signed by Congress and the previous President and upheld by the Supreme Court with an executive order.
I think he should go back and read the Constitution. It's clear he hasn't.
The GOP are unserious people and again this next 4 years are going to be insane.

TikTok Flickers Back to Life After Trump Says He Will Stall a Ban
Some users saw the social media app come back online on Sunday, following a shutdown when a federal law went into effect requiring a sale or ban.

https://www.nytimes.com/2025/01/19/technology/trump-tiktok-ban-executive-order.html#commentsContainer
Now he’s coming out to act like a savior. Create a problem. “Solve” the problem 🙄. I’m sure the conditions he’s giving them for reinstatement of the app include them thanking him publicly and genuflecting at every possible opportunity. Every update they send about this whole issue includes special thanks to him and all he’s doing to bring it back to life.

What happened in the last 12 hours since it was banned? It’s no longer a threat? Or the special thanks they’re giving him now will ensure the Chinese don’t steal our data?
The drama
The narcissism
I just can’t.

I wish that was enough. But even if you don’t use it and someone on your network is, high chances are they’re already tracking your devices and collecting information about you just from that person being on your network.

The tiktok you use in usa is so different from the highly censored one used in china.
Trust me, all the nonsense we see on tiktok can never be acceptable in china.
Weibo is just like X and highly censored.
Infact, social media is highly censored in china.
China is not supposed to be the USA standard though.
Don’t they have a restrictive communist govt? the opposite of what US claims to be?

We claims we don’t want to be like China but stepped right in the footpaths of China.

All the data privacy concerns they’re claiming to have, are somehow not applicable to the other social media platforms who have been mining US residents data for years and selling to the highest bidders for advertisement purposes. Facebook messenger logs into whatever WiFi network you’re on and accesses the device information of every member of that house or class or workplace even if they themselves don’t have messenger. All they need is for one person on the network to have FB messenger and everyone else’s privacy is gone.

They don’t really have privacy concerns or the other sites would’ve been censored since. The real concern is financial concerns. And also the ability of people to share information without the filter of billionaire owned news outlets. They should be upfront about their reasons for banning it.

I don’t like hypocrisy.

Use web browsers as much as you can
Apps generally steal your data
Some steal more than others
I think most people know that. They Generally don’t give a fvck about their data being stolen or not. Stolen data is used to create ads targeting you. At the end of the day, people who have expendable income don’t care about that. And those who don’t have it also don’t care.

The issue is the hypocrisy about data safety

A booming American economy?
Yep. Upwards growth in 2023 and well as 2024. Predicted to keep its upward trajectory through this 2025. Unless something shocks the system (like an unreasonable Trump tariff). But watch him come in and try to take the credit for the growth of the last two years and the new year to come. Then when he inevitably fvcks it up, he’ll start blaming the “deep state”🙄

Like Biden said, democrats spend a lot of time on the policies but not the politics. These are things people either didn’t know or locked their minds to. As long as they get stick it to their enemies, all is well.

They claim they couldn’t afford milk and eggs. Yet consumer spending was at an all time high. With gas averaging $3/gallon in most states. Except California and Hawaii with gas above $4, every other state is between $2-$3.
Something that hasn’t happened in a long time.

Reuters:

WASHINGTON, Oct 22 (Reuters) - The U.S. economy will continue to provide most of the thrust for global growth through the balance of this year and in 2025, led by robust consumer spending that has held up through a wrenching bout of inflation and the high interest rates used to tame it, the International Monetary Fund said on Tuesday.
In its latest World Economic Outlook, the IMF raised its 2024 and 2025 economic growth forecasts for the U.S. - the only developed economy to see its outlook marked up for both years - and its chief economist said the "soft landing" sought by the Federal Reserve in which inflation eases without big damage to the job market had largely been achieved.

MindWar: The Psychological War on Democracy
Biden’s Alternate Reality
A farewell to the establishment

JIM STEWARTSON
JAN 15, 2025

On August 2nd, 2020, I saw a terrifying movement, a neo-Nazi online cult, referred to as QAnon by the press, metastasizing through bizarre conspiracies and game mechanics that I helped invent 20 years ago. Six months later, it attacked the Capitol. as I predicted.

I have spent every day since trying to warn about it — through the entire Biden administration — 1627 days, 20,000 hours, 107,000 tweets, 10,000 videos, 1,600 articles, hundreds of podcasts, two frivolous lawsuits.

When Musk started to show his true colors three years ago, I warned what he is. As he weaponized Twitter to brainwash people into his techno-Nazi worldview, and Mike Flynn traveled the country on a QAnon tour, I yelled into the void that we were missing the point. Over and over and over.

It all came to nought of course. The Department of Justice and FBI were fatally compromised, and the President made a decision that protecting “norms and institutions” was more important than protecting American citizens from being brainwashed — or holding people accountable for J6.

Despite what seemed like a valiant effort to torpedo Trump by Jack Smith, it all went out with a whimper. Smith’s final report on J6 is a relic, the retelling of an attempt to work in a system that was never going to let him succeed.

Tonight, Joe Biden will give a speech touting his successes, and it’s true that he set the economy back on track, and passed meaningful legislation, just like all Democratic presidents do. But, like all Democrats, he didn’t fix, or even acknowledge, the real problem.

Joe Biden says “we braved through it. We emerged stronger, more prosperous, and more secure.” I beg to differ. Joe Biden never left the alternate reality of the establishment. He surrounded himself with milquetoast aides who fed him the positive outcomes he was looking for, but never gave him the truth.

The “America” Joe Biden fixed the economy for is dead. The establishment alternate reality he will talk about tonight is dead. None of what he did matters because the other alternate reality, the fascist conspiracy movement created by Flynn and his co-conspirators, now replicated at monstrous scale by Musk, is more powerful and more organized, with infinite financial resources. This is not Trump 2.0, it’s a takeover by the PayPal Mafia, a group of Nazi immigrants who saw us as a soft target.

The reality is that like every Republican president since Nixon, the Republicans had to cheat to win the White House. And like most, they had to collude with our foreign enemies to succeed. But this time is fundamentally different.

At the inauguration on Monday will be the American oligarchy, a group of psychopaths competing to be the world’s first trillionaire, conspiring about how best to create “hardship” and “austerity” to suck the last remaining money out of the Treasury so they can create a feudalist eugenicist slave state. Trump will issue 100+ executive orders decimating everything Biden did and plunging the nation into terror, on Day One.

Musk now has office space in the White House, as will numerous other billionaires in the Cabinet and other top positions in the government. Jeff Bezos and Mark Zuckerberg, who pretended to be in favor of democracy, and control a massive swath of the digital and physical economy, have completely capitulated. Tim Cook and numerous other tech billionaires donated to Trump’s Inauguration slush fund.

The Russians are quite pleased about it.

All of this was preventable. All of it was foreseeable. But for four years, nothing was done to stop it. Joe Biden allowed himself to be lulled into complacency, into thinking that if we just did the right thing, it will all work out. Sadly, those days are over because people have been lied to for so long, they think the “right thing” is to destroy their own country.

I respect the President, and his 50 years of service. In many ways, he did an admirable job, but in the most important job he had, the oath to protect and defend the Constitution and the American people, he turned out to be another old man living in an alternate reality created for him by others.

The truth of the matter is that we are at war and the President was never honest about it. His administration presided over the the end of the American Experiment as we knew it. He will be seen in history as our Paul von Hindenburg — who handed over power in a “peaceful transition” to Hitler.

That said, I have not, and will never give up on my country. Perhaps, in the end, the kleptocratic kakistocracy being installed and the horrors this regime will execute are the only thing that will snap us out of it. Perhaps what will emerge from the wreckage will be better. But that will not happen on its own.

We must protest, resist, and sabotage every attempt at seizing more power. We must stop being afraid to get in their face as they try to defraud us out of our rights, labor and resources. We must stop being afraid to call Russia the enemy, a terrorist state that must be defeated, not a legitimate nation.

Unfortunately neither “history” or “power” will be “in our hands” after Monday. The power of our military, our economic might and the labor of the people will be handed over to a transnational crime syndicate who wants to remake the planet.

The way forward is opaque but I am convinced it exists. I do not think America, per se, is finished. But unfortunately “we braved through it” is a line absurdly premature.

Yet, crickets on this unqualified mess of a person in one of the most important jobs.
They know the truth . I refuse to chalk it up to ignorance.

As with all their politicians that they go gaga about, it’s almost always about something else than the job or the ability of the nominee to do the job.

Pete said he wants to restore “warrior culture ” to the military (whatever that truly means) without women in combat positions. That’s the reason they support him. It’s usually some emotional nonsense like this that fuels their political stances.

But it’s pathetically funny coming from a blubbering alcoholic who smells like whiskey at work. Pretty sure a female soldier can mop the floor with him without breaking a sweat. He doesn’t need senate confirmation. He needs to go to rehab. But one can only hope.
