Your last paragraph is an example of why I said you’re overly negative. Because I said something that’s true, you’re insinuating that if given the chance, I’d imply money grows on trees. Thereby calling me a liar but not so outrightly. Anyway moving on. So you’re going to say with your chest of chests that average Nigerian immigrants don’t make 60k a year individually? Plumbers, truck drivers, construction workers, low paid healthcare workers, business owners make that. Pls say something else. MT: I do not really understand how to put it to you again.
In all my post, i emphasised there are Nigerians making it, and there are some who do not make it. I consistently maintained that your individual's circumstance will determine your journey.
Unfortunately, once people do not see it your way, you start giving them names. What do you mean by saying I am "overly negative"? Every statistics your poured out was based on your assumptions and not hard facts. You seem educated and I would expect that you would know how to back up your claims with empirical facts.
You were tossing figures likes beancake - 60KUSD, 120K USD as if that is what almost every one earns. Yes, Nigerians are among those migrants who are very educated in the US but knowing how that translates to earning for the family is quite complex and there is no data that will give you conclusion on that. I was surprised when you typed that it was a mater of public information. Pull it off, let's see your source for reference.
You are assuming. You are over promising. Let everyone make their own determination without you sweet talking them. Afterall, if things go south, you wont be there to lend them a hand.
Thank God I live abroad and in Nigeria, you would have told me dollars are grown on the tree.

MT: # You are upending the discourse. One, when we say "abroad", it does not have to be the US alone. Your post that I responded to was specifically about USA. Hence my comment Two, you have not shown with proof how many Nigerian family (husband plus wife) makes over 150k USD per annum. The data you referenced is relevant to a 3-member household - a father, a mum and a child. You need to consider that too. This is readily available information. Also I cannot use myself or my friends or my family as example because to you that’s going to be anecdotal. The same way Ibe’s example is also anecdotal to you. You have to use public information and that’s readily available. In IT, if you are skilled, a single individual actually makes over 120 USD per annum but how many people fall into that class. Not only IT. In business and healthcare and govt jobs. Each person making $60k is already a family of $120k a year. That’s literally less than the norm for professionals. Yes there are professionals making money. I am not arguing that but holistically speaking how many people make it? most immigrants families make it. . I am only saying, evaluate your current situation carefully and make an INFORMED decision. How does that translate to discouraging people?
If you accuse me of discouraging others, I will accuse you of over exaggeration. I agree. No one should make poorly planned moves especially across the continent. It’s not for everyone and one’s situation should be the determining factor. I’m not team japa by all means or anti japa. I don’t over exaggerate. If anything I’ll understate the figure so I don’t create high expectations. But you tend to be overly negative hence my comment about discouraging people. |

Most Nigerian migrant families in the USA are middle class. What are you talking about? And if both partners work, then they are most likely upper middle class. Realistically inflation makes it such that $100k isn’t what it used to be 10 years ago. Still any family making over $150k a year is comfortably middle class. And that’s less than what two professionals make together in year. Pls stop discouraging people MT: So because you cited just one family that you knew who started as a driver and made it as a middle class in the US makes it the norm.

I think GE is one of the most popular we have stateside. Quite affordable (as far as ranges go) and they last way past the warranty. Hence builders here use them in most houses so you don’t have to go back and make claims in a few years. I’m sure most of them are under $3,000-$5,000 even with fancy hardware. I’ve never heard of any of them ranges peeling. Even the basic ones under $1,000. But I don’t know if you can ship it where you are. Good luck on your quest. descarado: Hey chefs, anybody have an idea of a good stainless steel range induction cooker please?
I have been on this for months and still no headway. So frustrating. There are many products from so many reputable companies but which one is good, that's my problem.
I checked out bertazzoni range but all I see is that their products are good not review on which should be avoided cos I don't believe all are that good. I saw what I was looking for in one other brand from another company but not much was known about that.
Only stainless steel. No coating. They peel. The reason I am in this predicament. It's easier to buy a car than this honestly. Abeg, make una chuck mouth with pictures. Yours truly is confused. |

Hold classes and teach other men on NL. They need this lesson dipsx: Well we are not perfect but I believe in being the person u desire in the other.
First self-respect, my word is my bond. If I have committed to u then I do everything within my power to ensure I am not the one defaulting.
Secondly You need to get a trust-worthy person ready and open to learning, this is largely dependent on how honest u are as a person as in step1. I am that honest to telling my wife I just wanted friends with benefits at the beginning cos I was planning to marry my tribe then.
My wife is the 3rd woman I have shared my passwords with even though the 1st two didn't work, trust was never the issue.
Presently we are just 3yrs in marriage and far from perfection too but trust issues are almost entirely absent. She has the history of almost all the ladies but not exes I have long calls with.
Na me no dey remember her ATM pin cos money no dey too dey there. My cards are in her possession but she has never withdrawn in my absence without asking me first.
Because of this openness I can tell you that my wife doesn't at any point in time know my balance or salary, she care less about those details knowing and believing that I am not spending frivolously. We both need some privacy to account balance or how each person spends cos I can't take permission from her to help F&F. I am a very prudent person as well as I no get person to look up to most times.
We don't have joint accounts at the moment but with how we living that is almost what is happening.
The more u try to hide the more U induce others to probe. Openness is by far d easiest way to hide things as usual there is often nothing to hide. |

Lol iLegendd: E be like say I go ignore you before you push me into exposing my worth.
Just know that, academically, I was top 3 in Nigeria and top 2 abroad with a distinction.
Physically, I'm muscular and healthy — I never miss exercise.
Spiritually, I'm average — deviating from religion gradually.
Financially, I don't begged for money no matter the hardship from family members or outsiders — I give (especially when I have) before people go start to dey send DM to bill me.
Intellectually, I find solutions to problems faster than most people I have ever met home and abroad. It's only my guy in Spain that finds solutions faster than me. I don't know where that one got his own brain. I'm still the one that taught him female psychology and how to get any woman and last long in bed while he taught me a lot about technology hacking, etc., which is even my field.
With my big muscle and big dick, you known no say I suppose get standard and pride? So, I choose, not you.
If you call someone like me with all the muscular and brain weak, I wonder what you'll call other men.
Feminist no really get brain and choice sha. Always attacking men toll menopause and they become bitter. For me, I like women and will always treat them well, massage them, cook for them when I'm happy, f*ck them like no one ever would, pamper them, fight with them, reconcile, f*ck them again, spend what I'm willing to lose, etc., but don't ever insult me directly or indirectly or my mom or even any of my siblings — I don't forgive or forget. I have a journal where I write everybody's offences down no matter how little it is.
So, that's a little bit of me. |

You see this terrible headline and it didn’t occur to you the problem is men. Older men sleeping with children. But somehow the kids being sexually assaulted by older men are the problem? Okay iLegendd: With the rate of infections and careless expenses on transportation, you think I'd stoop so low? No, Brother, I won't.
Men are investing in assets that'll appreciate in value in 5 years, not on a smelly vagina of an infected or frustrated feminist.
Most frustrated feminists have cats, dogs, and other animals as pet and they sleep with these animals because men don't want them and when they contract diseases from these animals, they become born again and look for a naive Church member or a good guy to infect and spread it.
They just hate men and want every man dead, but we, as men, don't hate women — we just hate how they lie, cheat, become disrespectful and still want equality in a world where 98% of what they enjoy, including their dil*dos and phones are built by men. |

Pls loud it. The ones that adopt old western culture formed by terrible western ideals now want to claim it’s African culture and anyone who rejects it is woke and too westernized. Oh the irony musicwriter: What you called "Western culture" is actually African. It's adoption by the West is relatively recent.
Women even ruled nations in ancient Africa. Yes, there were women Queens in Africa before you heard of anything like that in Western culture.
Women weren't considered as human beings in Western culture and weren't allowed to participate in anything. You see that in your Bible.....in the new testament. Up to 1920, women weren't allowed to vote in Britain, the US, etc.
Not allowing someone to read your phone messages is a matter of privacy, which African women enjoyed from time immemorial.
Nothing was introduced into this world by white people until recently. It's just a question of them adopting something - like gay couple and imposing it on others....even when a country like Saudi Arabia and Malaysia had been pro-gay before the West. |
