It’s supposed to help with digestion and weight management too. At least that’s what I heard from some Asian creators

There are different types of chilli in this world.
Some are mild, some are hot, some are super hot.
Nigeria use the hot to super hot types.
So you look at chilli from the naija perspective.

Eg korean hot pepper flakes is not as spicy as ordinary ginger if i use itbut to the Koreans, it's hot. Even if I put 3 full spoons, it's just for colour as I will not feel the bang. But in the same food 1 scotch bonnet can make me look for water as the scotch bonnet here is hotter than the one at home. The same with habenero( yellow pepper)

The hot chilli there can last for one year. Just scoop small teaspoon. There are some pepper I cut big deliberately and use as veggie. Some are not even spicy at all. We just use them cos of vit c.

Beautiful and I am sure delicious too.

How peppery is your jollof on a scale from 1-10 with 10 being extremely hot?
Thank you. Spice level 5/10. So the people I live with don’t cry.

My personal preference is 8-9/10

I hope your family is doing ok and moved to safety. The way they are talking about it has me concerned.
And hurricane season isn't even over yet.
The US is going to have to have a real discussion about what this means. I pray there is no loss of life, but the economic damages are going to be extensive.
Thank you.
They evacuated. Life will be spared so we’re thankful for living in a world where these things can be predicted by scientists and safety precautions implemented. Imagine the lives that would’ve been lost otherwise?

Yep. A lot of economic devastation but money can always be re-acquired and property can be rebuilt.

1) Just because you said it doesn’t make them true. Hunter’s laptop did what? What exactly is that statement. Is that a complete statement? Or you’re being ambiguous so I can fill in what you’re trying to say?

2) Babies aren’t being killed after they’re born as a form of birth control or for even any reason at all. No mom is changing her mind last minute after giving birth and decides “welp I changed my mind. Here you go doctor. Pls kill the baby”. And the doctor obliges. That mom, the doctor and all assisting staff would be in jail before the shift is over

Pls tell believable lies at least. These people can really get yall to believe anything. I don’t know how we got here but it needs to be studied by future generation of psychologists.

And now I remember afresh why I don’t even bother going back and forth with right wingers on the internet. Thanks for reminding me.
bemeruca:
60 minutes, fact heck, Trump on Hunter's laptop. They said it was a lie but it wasn't. Why should he go back?

During an ABC debate, he said a governor says they can kill the baby even when it is born on the topic of abortion. They fact-checked him, saying it was a lie, but what he said was true.

So a truth can change to a lie to the uninformed who rely on the media. When a truth is told and the media says it is a lie, the uninformed will believe the media.

But republicans governors are on record stating they’re getting all the help they need and the govt and FEMA are responsive to them

What do you y’all gain from such blatant lies. This is a level of mind numbing bold faced fvckery that I can’t comprehend nor will I try to because I don’t want my brain to shut down.

What’s y’all’s problem? Good lord![quote author=bemeruca post=132325554]FEMA should be replaced

I feel evil laughing at this.
It’s very unfortunate. I have family in Florida and I love to visit there. Would be sad to see what the aftermath will be to the beauty of that state.

But according to Ron & co, climate change is a woke ideology made up by snowflake liberals to convince them to give up their freedoms, sell their souls and become gay. Or something something. I don’t even know.

I just know that a lot of the damage will be terribly sad and utterly preventable.

When you are fact-checked, and each time they say it is a lie, it ends up being true, yes, you should back out. Kamala is allowed to lie and not be fact-checked; Trump says the truth he gets fact-checked, and the truth changes to a lie to the uninformed watching.
Yes and the earth is square. Since we are now allowed to say whatever. Even the ones that don’t make any sense.

Trumps truth changed to lies? I’ve heard it all

Backing out of an interview because you’ll be fact checked is wild.

So we’re just okay accepting the right as the party of lies? Okay.

Different rice for different dishes for me. I don’t particularly have favorites as I find using the right/wrong rice will affect the result.

Jasmine for Asian fried rice dishes
Parboiled rice for Nigerian fried & jollof rice
Basmati for tomato stew. Also good for Nigerian jollof
Sticky rice for sushi bakes, rice bowls or similar dishes
Long grain for pilaf and also tomato stew.

descarado:
Hi rice lovers, what variety/ies of rice do you love best?

I love broken jasmine rice a lot.
Glutinous rice
Sushi.
I use broken jasmine to make fried rice. Tried it first to make Guyanese fried rice.
These variety of rice are best eaten without tomatoe stew.
Good for sticky rice dishes or rolls.

Actually, basmati followed by long grain comes last for me.
Long grain is best for jollof as it absorbs nutrients quicker and very sweet variety.

The salad looks very simple. I should give it a try because I'm sure it is very nice.
It is.You can make your own dressing “Olive oil, lemon juice, pinch of salt. Black and white pepper & honey. The key is to leave it in the fridge for a little while for the beans to soak up the flavors.

Or use balsamic vinegar 👍🏾👍🏾

OP my condolences. May he rest in peace.
What are you studying in Canada and what are your chances of making a good living with your degree in order to provide for your daughter?

It’s unfortunate that some men don’t think of what will happen to their children when they go around and lay with strange women. I can understand a relationship not working out after one kid and no marriage.

But leaving a legally wed wife who had four kids for you to marry someone probably one of your kid’s age is a big big red flag IMO. Especially since a prior relationship also didn’t work out. That tells me he was the problem. After the 1st and 2nd kids, he should’ve known it wasn’t going to work. Leaving after four kids makes it unbelievable to us that he’s the angel you’re claiming he is.

Since he refused to get his home in order, you have no choice but to forge ahead with your own life and if you must fight for stuff, do it from a distance. Your little 2 year old didn’t ask to be dragged into this mess. If they end up hurting you in the process, your toddler might very well become an orphan. All for property that you can earn by yourself twice over if you apply your time, brain and skills well. Good luck and may you find comfort in your time of grief

I dreamt of Nigerian food last night. Like correct authentic grandma style naija food. I woke up disappointed it was just a dream. If I weren’t grown up, I might have cried.

radautoworks:
When I look at food blogs, I'm looking for stuff I don't see everyday to expand my horizons. The same thing I eat everyday over and over again defeats the purpose to me. It's the reason we don't serve Nigerian food at my restaurant except once in a blue moon. There are a million and one places (literally) that sell Nigerian food in Nigeria. I want my customers to taste something they would find hard to get anywhere else. A different palate. In the US, if I had a restaurant, it would be Nigerian because that's rarer.

I love Gboyega's posts because he tends to have creative twists, and I love Coco's because of the farm to table and presentation. Home made jam? GTFO!!

And for some of us, we make the same things whether in Nigeria or out. So does geography dictate, ingredients, or country of origin? As far as Nigerian food, we get the exact same ingredients overseas as in Nigeria. This is 2024. Next time I'm in the Nigerian grocery store I'll take pictures.
