Instead of taking your daughter home, you took the mad man for deliverance and still left your daughter with him in the same house. People really need to learn that you can’t pray away everything.
And staying married isn’t a do or die affair. Now look. That poor woman

No. it’s the concept that I find interesting not the item she chose. iPhone is as shallow as they come. But the whole idea of being buried in something you like is pleasant to me. I’d most definitely have chosen something way different

GloriousGbola:
but the interests here are empty status symbols

that is all the iphone is in most third world countries - no one buying any of those late model iphones is using up to 20% of the features, and most of them will funnily enough only use free apps on the device.

a late model iphone is honestly one of the most foolish purchases you can make in nigeria, when you consider the actual value/utility from it

then again, we are all about status symbols so i guess it goes with the 65 inch tv to watch 480p content, the playstation to play fifa only, and the suv that cannot be driven through rough roads

Correct sister.

The ones that’s their moms and sisters are always making problems know themselves and you can tell by the kinds of things they say on here.

Someone like me, I’d have to finish living my life before I’ll start meddling in a sister-in-law’s home. No be so?
These ones know themselves
pocohantas:
It is not by chochocho. If you genuinely love your mum/birth family, I will know. If you are using them to cause unnecessary tension in the relationship/marriage, I will still know. My brother do pass like this. As I didn't indulge him and warned my mum to stop going to their house unnecessarily - hasn't he rested and faced his home?

She didn’t agree wholeheartedly. That’s a problem. She can’t convince her mom if she herself isn’t convinced.

Finance isn’t really the problem, I’m just not into crowds and heavy flashes
Well that’s a bigger problem than finances then.

You like lowkey quiet ceremonies. Your wife-to-be likes big ceremonies

Meet in the middle? Maybe a medium-smedium ceremony?

What number of people counts as a low key event to you and what’s her ideal number of people? Meet somewhere at the average and you can both be satisfied.

Hopefully.

I’ve had to convince the daughter though, because she wants an elaborate one. She’s accepted but not very comfortable with it, convincing her mum who has probably informed her different clubs and societies seem a strong challenge to me
What’s your reason for wanting a low-key wedding? Is it finances or you’re just not into big ceremonies? If the former then you guys can agree on a compromise. DIY some of the things you would’ve otherwise paid for, find less costly alternatives where possible. If possible increase some of the money you are willing to spend and they have to agree to foot the cost of whatever extra is needed on top of the basic expenses that you are willing to pay.

If not, both of you can part ways. Resentment can linger if either party feels like they didn’t get their dream wedding.

Romance › Re: Giving birth to female children, is a punishment. by cococandy(f): 10:56am On Oct 04, 2024
Exactly. Boys are easier to raise because they don’t even bother to raise them. That’s why we have so many of them misbehaving up and down everywhere
pocohantas:
I just saw his response to you and hopefully no woman procreates with him. He is a dangerous influence for the boy child if he believes heinous crimes brings no shame to the parents. This is why some of them think training a boy is easier because they let boys be boys. Then raise the girls in perpetual fear of being victims of the boys actions.

This one needs our prayers, Coco.

Romance › Re: Giving birth to female children, is a punishment. by cococandy(f): 9:11am On Oct 04, 2024
I totally get the point. You think daughters being wayward is more shameful than sons being wayward or criminals.

If as a human, a daughter being wayward brings you more shame than a son being wayward too or worse a criminal, then you’ve lost the plot.

Means you consider bad behavior worse based on the gender of who’s doing it. And more insidiously, extreme bad behavior leading up the harm, hurt and possibly death of others is less in your opinion when a man does it versus when a woman decides she wants to be free to use her body as she pleases

I totally got your point and it’s reprehensible.
Shame on you

essentialone:
You are yet to get the point. I am not saying who is better between Male child and female child.

I am referring to the shame and trauma brought to their parents.

The guys in question you just mentioned are criminals who may never get caught. And so it brings no shame and disgrace to their parents, not taking anything away from the wickedness of their actions.

But you see female children. 90% are source of endless public shame to their fathers. Most times their mothers care less. Often because they too passed through same system. Until you are a Father, you may not fully understand.

If you are a lady here and your father is still alive, ask him to be honest about this issue and tell you his fears and worries. You go shock.

Shameless gender who do nothing but bring unseen tears to their parents.

Hopefully some day they use the same energy to address the crimes and insecurity in the nation that isn't carried out by the girl-child. Because obviously the highest the girl child does is "sexual waywardness". Which is somehow worse than what lands the logical set in prisons world over. Briliant logic!
I saw a harrowing video of a group of men cutting another man while he was still alive. Seemed drugged up but awake and alive. They were doing it to harvest his organs and sell. It’s such a disturbing thing I saw that try as much as I can, I can’t get it out of my head and my mind.

To Nairaland men, showing your nudity is worse than things like that. Their obsession with female private parts is something out of this world. I’ve never seen anything like it before. That’s why I’ll never judge a woman who’s doing anything that falls under their category of immoral behavior. I hope they continue to see and continue to stay mad about it

When has it become the job of stop and search policemen to search people's phones? I thought they said they had no right to do that? The Nigerian police needs a new code of conduct. These old ragtag men that are anachronistic to these modern times should be thrown out and fresh highly educated ones brought in.
We can't continue like this in this age and time.
They are still men. And one thing for sure, men and abuse of power are like 5 and 6

Yes, they don't most times.
A family member or friend has to be with you. If you are 100% at the mercy of the hospital staff (who are most times short-staffed), you will be lucky not to take your own life from the level of neglect you will suffer.

So you are quite accurate in your observation and concern as to why it is used as an insult.
Imagine if you don’t have family? 😢
