lol okay ![]() hotwax: |
Gerrard59:Right. And keep in mind that pay hasn’t gone up in the same way inflation did. When I was a teenager/adolescent adult, my mom was chief nursing officer in a govt hospital and even for a civil servant that was a nice spot to be. Since that time, income hasn’t been reviewed and they still earn the same income from then. Especially those of them who retired in their positions at that income rate. You can’t even do much with that same amount of money now. That’s how these conversations come about |
erico2k2:You’re so right. Neither have I. It’s a whole ass mortician degree or mortuary assistant certification required for those jobs but we like to talk about what we don’t know . |
And what’s the problem with that? Must everyone be a king? Kobicove: |
Gerrard59:It has to depend on the bank and the level of management Bigger better bank, probably better benefits. Like the general manager of diamond bank can’t be the same as one unit manager in sub division of the bank. Or even a small/medium bank. That’s the problem with all these generalizations |
hotwax:Those people living “fake lives” also built houses for their moms in Nigeria and their own houses in Nigeria that they own outright without mortgage just like you . What’s your argument? This mortgage argument is so dvmb. |
maasoap:Well one of my CNAs at work used to be a bank manager in nigeria too. She didn’t have a choice as a new immigrant without support to do what you’d consider low wage job as a CNA. Now she’s done with nursing school and passed her Nclex. I’ll be orienting her if she’s lucky to get into the unit where she formerly worked as CNA. This woman is more than 10 years my senior. And she worked with “kids” who probably 20 years her junior as colleagues. You’ll never hear anything negative from her or about her behavior. I know a typical Nigerian madam can’t do that. Or a Nigerian oga. There’s nothing wrong with a little humility because you’ll go a long way. She already has her eyes on advanced practice education as soon as she gains experience. Meanwhile her former bank has been bought over in the time she was here and few other managers who worked with her have to be laid off. I’m not saying everyone has to emigrate but she must have had her reason and I bet she’s glad she did. One thing that must pass is time. If you don’t like where you are, go for the next thing. Even if it requires a few months or years of discomfort to achieve the end goal. She didn’t let the fear of temporarily doing a low wage job stop her. |
Is there any category of people who are destined for those jobs? It may not be your choice understandable but what’s denigrating about it? Denigrating jobs should be things that are illegal. Any honest work shouldn’t be considered denigrating. Do public bathrooms in Nigeria not have cleaners? Do you guys just let your public bathrooms deteriorate? What the issue with Nigerians abroad doing such work? maasoap: |
Emetex22:You want to tell a Nigerian madam or oga that their servant deserves a living wage, respect and similar standard of living as them? You must not know us. Nigerians are very very extremely excessively egotistical people. They want to be lords and masters over anyone around them without actually being qualified to do so. You can tell by the way they denigrate certain jobs. That’s why they’d rather suffer than do a job they deem to be lowly even if the job solves their financial needs. That’s why you see them on here thinking they can use “wiping bums” as an insult to CNAs/nurses abroad. As if the sick people in Nigeria are usually left to rot in their own piss and feces. Honestly I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s the case since they think it’s an insult to provide dignified care to sick and dying people. One person on the front page said care giving is worse than cleaning toilet. I imagine it’s the assisting the patient with activities of daily living they consider to be shameful. I’ve never seen this type of behavior anywhere on the internet before except on Nigerian forums. |
I believe you ABANGWABOI: |
She’s providing for you and you’re still the lord in your house. And you’ll beat her if she realizes to give you money? Okay na ABANGWABOI: |
No problem with that as long as the man is not trying to claim odogwu-unchallenged-alpha-meil-dictator-of-the-family whose wife doesn’t get a say. This is the new age. Equal contribution, equal respect and equal responsibility. Note that I didn’t say they have to be the same. Being the Same is not synonymous with being equal. They can be different and equal partners in the marriage. Not lord and servant types of marriage that Nigerian men tend to want. Can’t do that with a weak pocket. I don’t know what woman would want to provide for the man, do all the home keeping and child raising and still serve him. franchasng: |
I was speechless. She looked at me and said it was a man's duty to cater to his family, and she could only "assist." Her words felt like a slap. Here I was, drowning under the weight of our expenses, and she was holding back. When we tell you these antiquated gender roles you strictly enforce will come back to bite y’all in the balls you call us evil home wrecking feminists. Come back when you’re ready to evolve. Until then, cry about it because you’ll refuse the solution even when it’s staring you in the face. |
Misogyny speak If you took time to review her academic credentials, political achievements, number of times she’s been voted into the several offices she’s held, you can puke see she’s just as qualified if not more qualified than the men who’ve sought that office before her But because she’s a woman, you can’t help but see her as an airhead. A typical sexist derogatory term used specifically for women. Yet Trump has never been coherent a day in his life. His stupidity has been very apparent from day one. There’s literally no comparison between him and the lowest class of politicians much less Kamala who’s as qualified as they come. Despite his many blunders and his history as reality TV person you somehow don’t see him as an airhead Y’all should be embarrassed TheChameleon: |
They should implement these measures more often. Let people understand they can’t just wish death on a different group of people just because you don’t like them. Learn to stay wherever you came from if such things are tolerated over there. Can’t be traveling to countries where you know it’s not tolerated and then bring it with you |
this looks amazing Akposy. We’ve missed you. What have you been planting? Akposy: |
It’s like that? I better cancel my Turkey plans then. Wow |
waveman2:Why do you guys always compare women who are selling THEIR OWN bodies (I don’t approve btw) or selling images of their bodies for money to men who are defrauding OTHER people, duping OTHER people and killing OTHER people? Seeing the difference yet? Do you have any thinking skills? For example; If I show my naked body to someone and they pay me money, then a guy comes along and kills your child to earn money. To you, those two things are equivalent? I’m befuddled. I really want to know what it is about a woman selling her sexual services that’s so evil and egregious to you guys that it’s equivalent in your minds to when men hurt others and commit bloody violence. Try to explain it logically without using religion. I’m waiting but not holding my breath. |
Silentgroper:If the shoes doesn’t fit..: |
Silentgroper:No. Just a reason to wonder why men are outraged about it. |
Men are the consumers |
What a harrowing ordeal |
Yampotatocarrot:I’ve had my pressure cooker for years with no issues. The pressure only comes on when it’s on the pressure cooking mode. You’re not supposed to open it until it’s done decompressing. When it’s on the setting for slow cooker, rice cooker, sautéing etc there’s no pressure. Alternatively, you can look into a slow cooker if you’re worried about the pressure in pressure pots. Had one for years as well and it’s very handy for things like beans, slow cooked ribs and soups (oyibo style). Just put all the ingredients in at once, close it and go to work. Everything will be ready by the time you get back. But our typical Nigerian meals are best made stove top. Because of their deep flavor profiles, they can be complex and their various ingredients need different cooking times. |
Yampotatocarrot:Not really. Rice cooker is just for rice. Most of these recipes need you to open the pot occasionally to add an ingredient or stir. Rice cooker works best when it’s closed for the duration of the cooking. I’ve see a video of someone using it for fried rice but they basically had to add everything all at once and then close it. I don’t see how that would be a good fried rice recipe. However instant pot (pressure cooker) has different settings for other types of meals including rice cooker setting. So if you’re looking for one equipment that can cook rice and do all that, the pressure pot would be your friend. I don’t use my pressure cooker for rice or any of the other recipes it’s programmed for but I just know the manufacturer claims it can do all that. Happy cooking. Don’t burn yourself 😘 |
Drugs are scary man |
1stGenAmerican:Very well seasoned. I know it’s going to char up beautifully. Don’t forget to share when you’re done. Happy Labor Day. |

ednut1:I once bought garri from African store that looked so weird. Like almost neon yellow in color. Didn’t notice in the store at first because their lightning was dim. But at home it looked like fake color was used instead of palm oil. Could have been turmeric (I’m giving them the benefit of doubt) but I can’t be sure. One thing is certain is that it wasn’t oil. So strange |
He actively suppresses any posts calling for the end of the genocide Free speech they say. IndeedKnownUnknown: |
Tightpussy2024:I deleted my account when he came on board I knew this was the BS it was going to come to. Until something seriously heinous happens because of what he allows people to post on there, he won’t learn |
None authoritarian countries do want free speech. It’s just that Musk’s definition of free speech is hate speech. The two aren’t the same at all. Free speech is freedom to speak out against oppression by the elected/appointed authorities. Freedom to profess your faith. Freedom to live how you want. When their version of free speech is to promotes violence/discrimination against any subset of people , then it’s not free speech. It’s hate speech. Elon knows this. He’s very very deeply disturbed and an unintelligent disingenuous liar. ivolt: |
X thrives on fascist misinformation. This is what people want. When they claim Biden is stifling Facebook from posting freely. When you open your website freely to misinformation bandits and let them post things that can lead to erosion of trust in medical and scientific institutions, erode trust in their neighbors by lying to them. You risk national security breaches |
