jayriginal: Did you know the number of possible ways ofplaying the first four moves for both sides in a game of chess is 318,979,564,000 ?
The longest game of chess that is theoretically possible is 5,949 moves.
According to the America's Foundation for Chess, there are 169,518,829,100 ,544,000,000,00 0,000,000 (approximately 1.70x10 29) ways to play the first 10 moves of a game of chess. And they thought a computer would solve chess!
The longest chess game ever was I.Nikolic - Arsovic, Belgrade 1989, which ended in 269 moves. The game was a draw.
There are 400 different possible positions after onemove each. There are 72,084 different possible positions after two moves each. There are over 9 million different possible positions after three moveseach. There are over 318 billion different possible positions after four moves each.
The number of distinct 40-move games in chess is far greater than the number of electrons in the observable universe. The number of electrons is approximately 10^79 , whilethe number of uniquechess games is 10^120 .
The first chess game played between space and earth was on June 9, 1970 by the Soyez-9 crew. The game ended in a draw.
An old puzzle: If you put one grain of wheat on the first square of the chessboard, two on the second, four on the third, eight on the fourth, and so on, how many grains of wheat do you need to put on the 64th square? The answer is 9,223,372,036,8 54,775,808(appr oximately 9.22x10 18 ) grains of wheat. That's a lot of nutrition.
The folding chessboard was invented by a priest who was forbidden to play chess. The priest found a way around it by making a folding chessboard. When folded together and put ona bookshelf, it simply lookslike two books.
Kirk and Spock have played chess three times on the show Star Trek. Kirk won all three games.
A computer called DeepThought became the first computer to beat an international grandmaster in November 1988, Long Beach, California.
The longest chess game theoretically possible is 5,949 moves.
The word "Checkmate" in Chess comes from the Persian phrase "Shah Mat," which means"the King is dead."
The number of possibilities of a Knight's tour is over 122 million.
The longest official chessgamelasted 269 moves (I. Nikolic - Arsovic, Belgrade 1989)
Dr. Emanuel Lasker from Germany retained theWorld Chess Champion titlefor more time than any other player ever: 26 years and 337 days.
In 1985, the Soviet player Garry Kasparov became the youngest World Chess Champion ever at the age of 22 years and 210 days.
During World War II, some of the top Chess players were also code breakers. British masters Harry Golombek, Stuart Milner-Barry and H. O'D. Alexander was on the teamwhich broke the Nazi Enigma code.
Some interesting facts arent they?
By the way, the lady playing blindfolded is Judit Polgar, a Hungarian woman who is the strongest female player ever. She only plays in womens events and at one time she was in the top ten strongest chess players in the world. The only woman to achieve that. It seems you are a guru. Off to get interesting facts about Monopoly.. I just always lose I don't know why. I guess I am not tactical. |

Do you play chess? I'd have challenged you to take it up but chess has a way of taking over a person. Those who really play know what I am talking about. No I don't. |

grad2012: why pls is sometin wrong wiv felvin Not medically confirmed but people have had experiences with it. jutino: used to take Felvin den but i noticed that after taking it my period will be so scanty so I stop taking it, what I take now it's just paracetamol. My friend practically survives on Felvin, she was even a distributor back in school and used to have shorter periods after taking it but she was happy about it. |

ephi123: That someone said something doesn't make it true through.
Every drug has side effects to varying degrees but to generalize and say Felvin causes fibroid, haba! Well, she wasn't the first person I heard it from and besides coming from a pharmacist just sort of sealed it for me. She could be wrong but better to err on the side of caution. At least that's what I would advice. |

It's been a long time since I've played Doom (I believe it was the original one on PC (DOS), yup a very long time), can't really help you there. Yup it was PC. Thanks anyway. Will keep searching. |

Just bear the pain knowing that its not going to last forever. I never take pain relievers or any drug at all because I don't want to hear stories that touch later in life. If it gets too much you can use a hot water bottle on your stomach. I used to have pains too but for some years now it has stopped. |

Gaming › Re: Worst Video Game Sequels by CoCoLav(f): 11:21pm On Feb 11, 2015 |
cao: This is obviously not a definitive list, you'd need to play every video game sequel known to man. What video game sequel do you consider the worst? What game made or almost made you give up on the franchise? Here are the ones I can think of right now:
Assassin's Creed: Revelations - This was probably the first AC game you never tried to finish. It suffers from the the constant back and forth gameplay, that reminds you that you're currently playing the most boring & repetitive AC video game ever created until...
Assassin's Creed III - The other AC game that bored you to death. Yes, it might have been less annoying than running back and forth like a headless chicken attempting to do the Macarena, and it had that epic pre-title reveal while you were controlling Haytham, but it still bored you. Yes, the hunting bit was exciting, but you got bored after skinning your 10th animal, while acting like a bored ninja on a tree. This was the second AC game you didn't finish. Fortunately, Ubisoft redeemed themselves with Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag. Apparently, we just wanted to be pirates.
Prince of Persia: Warrior Within - You thought ACR was Ubisoft's first attempt at the boring back and forth headless chicken dance? Nope, they pulled this travesty years ago, yes it also involved time travel with our dear Prince running back and forth in time in the SAME FREAKING BUILDING! By the third time of you doing the back and forth headless chicken dance, you probably threw away the game disc, while yelling "DUECES/WAKA/YOUR FATHER" or just simply screamed at it.
Duke Nukem Forever - This is solely here because I stopped playing FPSs while I was waiting for it. The majority of those who did wait & finally played it, label it as a dated disappointment.
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2 - This is solely here because it stopped me from playing the franchise. I was going to get this and the original game, but by the time I perused the forums, I didn't bother anymore. Then the final nail in the coffin happened - Disney bought LucasArts and then destroyed it, taking away their [only] hope of ever redeeming this franchise. Assassins creed revelation and 111 I never got to finish because yes it got me going back and forth. Prince of Persia wasn't so bad. I still prefer my car racing games like Asphalt 6 (haven't found any that beats it) for some reason I dislike need for speed. You forgot to mention God of war. I gave up on it. I think I kept playing Prince of Persia cos of his body PS: I have been searching for a particular game called Doom. Please mention me if you have it. |
