I don't think you know Ibadan. I've spent 8 years in this city and I can confirm to you that these brown roof areas are actually minority in Ibadan. Go to areas like
Old and New Bodija
Iyaganku GRA
Agodi GRA
Ikolaba GRA
Jericho/Onireke/Alalubosa
Oluyole main and Extension
Elebu
Akobo/Carlton Gate/Kolapo-Ishola GRA
Bashorun
Ring Road
Eleyele/Ologun-Eru

And more that I can't remember currently. And trust me, I've listed almost the whole of Ibadan above.

I got to know these places while house hunting cus I've always lived close to UI. Rent for three bedroom flat in places above can go from 2m to 5m plus.

That's why I can't get you guys to see what I see...everything for you is tribe.

You feel as if I am here to attack your tribe. Well I am not, but since you no want to see....

NIgerian states need to charge more tax, and ye need to demand better from all your governors...FACT.

iF YOU don't like it, or see it as me attacking your tribe, when I am attacking BOTH OGUN AND ANAMBRA AND ALL THE OTHER STATES, then sorry.

Better wake up. You can get better and deserve better than your 'I built roads governor.'.

Even my state where they have 'done things'..yawn.
States don't need to tax people to increase IGR states need to build infrastructure and businesses to increase IGR..

Then states can tax the employees of the businesses through payee tax..

Taxing unemployed people is madness, greed and corruption and the fact that you don't see it like that means you're a greedy and corrupt person..

that's why you're defending Ogun state corruption..

Until both states and others too, including my own state...are making at least 5 trillion, and have better tax to gdp then we can talk.

Till then, I don't have much regard for them...

And until your state government charges council taxes of at least 100000 naira monthly to maintain those good infeastructure...they will spoil in 5 years time

We have seen it too many times....and we are tired of seeing it.
States don't need to have better tax to GDP or 5 trillion to build infrastructure in the state..

The government does not need to charge council taxes of at least 100000 naira monthly to build infrastructure..

State governments can build farms and export the farm products and increase their IGR, states can build tolled roads to increase their IGR, states can build resorts to increase their IGR, states can build tech companies to increase their IGR.. states don't have to tax anyone to increase IGR.

This is about Abia state with tiny IGR outperforming Ogun state with high IGR and that is due to Ogun state corruption and lack of will to build infrastructure around the state..

Stop defending Ogun state corruption and mediocrity...

Both Ogun and Abia have low money, and also are not building good enough infrastructure...as seen in the road above.

The problem is, your states are poor. Abia that you are praising, the fact is,....it could be much better. Same for Ogun.

That is why you guys should start looking for leaders that would get you producing. And then we can start from there.

Me, I no longer decieve myself with 'infrastructure projects'. It is one thing to build road...to maintain am, na another thing. That is not a function of 'allawee from abuja' (IGR in NIgeria is useless....until it enters trillions of naira in states like Borno, and even your Abia and Ogun then we can talk...somehow)>

MOdifed

For the record...Ogun has 120 billion, Abia 20 billion naira. That is not much money in the big picture...yes the 120billion naira even.

Note that I ain't defending Ogun government uselessness. Or attacking Abia. Just pointing out that your states are poor...and the corruption makes it worse.
Abia state is building infrastructure with its IGR which is much lower than Ogun state IGR but Ogun state is not building any infrastructure.. Infact mentioning Abia state in the same sentence with Ogun state should be an insult to Ogun state and its indigenes...

Ogun state is richer than Abia state but Ogun state has bad infrastructures everywhere...

Abia state IGR is small compared to Ogun state jumbo IGR...

it is not about producing... it is about the will to build things...

how can you produce with bad infrastructure everywherehuh

nairalanda1:
Oga, I know you people will disagree with me, and say I am defending corrupt leaders, (for the record, I believe corruption is a serious issue)...but the money your states get from Abuja is really scanty. Because we are not even earning enough money.

80% OF Our revenue is from oil. The number of barrels per day we produce is enough for a country of less than 10 million people. Not the 260 million people we have. That is why people have been shouting at governments past and present to diversify the eocnomy...but this government no dey hear.

Averagely, what some states get , if a state in the USA got that, they would declare bankruptcy tomorrow. Yet, we want what the USA wants....on top of income that compared to USA is scanty.

(Yes, that is why corruption in NIgeria is evil...the thieves we have running us now are stealing from a treasury that is scanty. ).

Our uptake from tax is less than 10% Tax income is 10% of our gdp. We collect tax from 30% of the population eligible to pay taxes. And oil income cannot satisfy our large populaiton, no matter how much we shout about corruption. If we were not corrupt...it would still be problematic.

SO, either your government raises income from non oil soruces, diversifies our economy and takes us on the road to industrialization in addition to actually fighting corruption, and removing subsides....or we can forget about decent facilites. Things cost money, as much as it annoys me.
nothing is wrong with the allocation money and it is not too small to develop the infrastructure of a state...

Ogun has more IGR than Abia but Abia state is building more infrastructure than Ogun state and that is because the Abia state governor has the will to improve and build the infrastructure of the state while Ogun state does not have the will to build the infrastructure of Ogun state.....

Are you guys ready to stop fighting and start facing the reality that the reason why you don't have decent facilites is because you are not ready to pay the kind of tax, and do the work needed to hold your government accountable....so that they can make things better.

LIke that nice stuff in Holland...you know, people pay heavy taxes for that beauty, plus run a diversifed economy. You guys vote PDP and APC that do the same thing over and over again, and the economy keeps getting worse....but no, na to get your son in power, is all ye both want.

Instead, na to vote tinubu into power and defend am, or vote obi into power and defend am, no hold am accountable self.
it is not about tax..

it is about the will to develop the infrastructure of the state..

He might be richer but Finidi is not his mate and he even yet to attain his accomplishments.

He better come out and apologize without delay.

It was Nigeria that provided him the platform to succeed and a Nigerian coach ,he should remember that.

We all love him,he should not let his emotions destroy that
Osimhen is right about the NFF and the coaches inviting players that are nursing injuries...

If you have ever suffered a joint injury or muscle injury you will know Osimhen is speaking from a view of emotional and physical pain who has played through injuries and it has affected his Napoli performance and appearances.. and this adds to the trauma he has been bottling up..

it is good for his emotional and psychological health because it seems the NFF is not concerned about psychological, emotional and physical well being of the players...

when they play for their clubs their clubs ensure they are not injured and are fit and we all see how well they play for their clubs while when they play for the S.E they are not fit and are nursing injuries and put out lackluster performances and we blame the players...

I don't even think the S.E or Super Falcons have fitness coaches and psychologists on the team.

Again, stop strawmaning. Finidi's competence as a coach has little bearing to do with the matter at hand. What protocols are you even refering to? I said there are legitimate channels where Victor could have aired his grievances including reaching out to Finidi himself.

Ok dates, NFF can't on their own pick dates, FIFA sets a window and teams are expected to choose a date within that window. It's why you'll notice every African country played within the time alloted and no one is playing a qualifiers today. At best you'll have a day difference but still within the window. Victor obviously couldn't have recovered early enough to make any of those games.

Again, don't conflate issues, Victor was wrong simple.
Victor is complaining about the NFF and the coaches inviting players that are nursing injuries.. Enyeama once said people won't know the injuries he played through for the S.E.

Osimhen is 100% right..

Let the NFF address the overage players playing in the NPFL with fake ages and build a league with high standards so that true talents are produced by the NPFL..

Oga, what you are doing is what they call "strawman". You aren't a sticking to the conversation but arguing a point that is not made.

No one has said Osimhen should be banned, we are just pointing out that he was wrong. You can't see how illogical your argument is. Can't you see how the first best thing was for Victor himself to reach out to Finidi to clarify what he heard. He obviously has his contact like he affirmed in the live. Couldn't your take have been that Victor teach out to Finidi? Couldn't Victor have also reached out to the media department of the NFF and asked for clarification? He could easily have asked that they release a statement debunking the allegation if that would help. Like I said, there was a thousand other ways this could have been resolved, but he chose to act like a child.

I saw th headline a few days ago and didn't even bother to read it. The first thing that came to my mind was that it was clickbait. The second which every Nigerian agrees with is that no one can't doubt Victor's commitment to the team. Even his haters no that. It was a non story from the very beginning. His reacting the way he did however gave life to it.
Do you think NFF have the intelligence to create such protocols?

If they had the intelligence then Finidi would have never been the coach because they would have sacked him for trying to get opposition players jersey..

Osimhen is venting because some people in the NFF would have pressured him to play with the injury.. NFF itself did not pick the right dates for the qualifiers and consider players recovery between games..

Osimhen was right in his reaction especially if it makes the sports ministry and NFF to create protocols to favor the S.E, flying eagles and U17 especially during the CAF qualifiers.

Finidi believes without big players like Osimhen the S.E will not score goals and that it is not his fault and responsibility if S.E does not score goals.

S.E has Umar Sadiq, Tella, Tolu Arokodare, Akor Adams, Gift Orban e.t.c but Finidi does not rate them and did not test them at all.

Shame on you for believing Finidi.. Manchester city and Arsenal played without top strikers and still score lots of goals.

Finidi is trying to blame Osimhen instead of taking responsibility for his own failure..

Osimhen has to rest.. even Lookman has to rest more because he played more games than Osimhen.

Yes we have a problem defensively, but we have an even bigger problem offensively.

Since the World cup qualifiers started we have played a total of 14 games and have scored a total of 14 goals. With our supposed world class attacking roster we average just one goal a game. We are struggling to score goals and the simple reason is because we've been figured out offensively.

Nigeria for the most part plays through the wings to score. Any coach worth his salt who has watched enough of our tapes will easily figure that out. Once upon a time we have skillful players like J.J (maybe Mikel) who provided options for us who could drive the ball through the middle and get some defensive attention freeing the wings a little. Now we don't have that.

South Africa and Benin just focused their defensive on Lookman and Chukwueze. The middle was the freest in both games but we had no player who could take the initiative to go through the middle. If we had explored both we probably would have scored more goals. This is where players in the mold of Eze and Olise could help.

Guess how we scored both goals? Fisayo and Onyedika through the middle.
You're not the coach and you noticed this grin grin grin grin

that means you're intelligent and also that local coaches like Finidi rely on luck and hope to win matches and S.E is in trouble with such coaches..

When I saw Onyedika's goal I thought Finidi or one of his coaches would have the intelligence of telling the players to use the wings to misdirect Benin players then pass the ball to the Penalty Arc of the Benin box and tell one of the players to roam around the penalty arc the same way Foden or De Bruyne roams there...

S.E obviously don't do offensive drills in training.. but they should at least show urgency and intent the way Super Falcons play...

Another thing is Alhassan Yusuf, Onyeka and Onyedika are meant to be starting players and un-benchable..

S.E needs DMs like Ucheibe , Deborah Abiodun and Ayinde that will chase and track players and only Onyeka, Yusuf and Nwakali mark that way... Nwakali is an abomination on this thread.

mistacoco2:
We are aware that Guinness just recently announced it exit from the country, a company that has been in operational for over 60 years in Nigeria. Just this year alone we have recorded several multinational companies leaving the country.

What could be the reason for their exiting.

Let’s share ideas.
Because they are losing money..

P&G left last year and I said the comment below to another NL user:

P&G said Nigeria is a $50m net sales country which means when they convert their sales to dollars they get $50m in 2022/2023 which means they make around N60b in sales.

Exchange rate for $$ in 2023 is around N900 - N1200 per dollar

Now divide N60b by N1200 you will get around $50m.

But in 2014 - 2015 the exchange rate for $$ was around N180 - N200.
So Let's assume they were still making N60billion in sales in 2014-2015.

Now divide the same N60b by N200 you will get around $300m.

So they went from making at least $300m per year in 2014 to making $50m per year in 2023.

If you were the owner of the company won't you close your operations.
