Things are just falling apart for jonaTAN and the PDP.

CATALOGUE OF FAILURE BY PDP TO SCUTTLE THE DEMOCRATIC PROCESS
1) Remove Tambuwal and use Ihedioha to announce conducting Election isn't possible cos of war with Boko Haram (plan failed and backfired badly) 2) Plans to remove Attahiru Jega last week through illegal terminal leave (plan failed as the opposition got wind of it and global pressure foiled the plan) 3) Block the use of PVCs and Card Readers (INEC under Jega insists NO GOING BACK ) 4) Try to get a kangaroo court injunction stating INEC erred by not including YDP (judge came out smoking, denied them and ask them to STOP SMOKING THE WEED they are using)

ziccoit: We always give credits to mediocrity, this is Nigerians major problem. What you said among other things are simple functions of a government. Water, road, electricity and so on must be made available by the government, any government that list those among her achievements doesn't have business being on that seat.
What make a government stand out is policy formulation which must be futuristic. How many times did you hear Obama and co discussing about road construction etc? . Eh you say wetin? Please stick to your parochial minded politics. In fact, the construction of roads & bridges or their refurbishment was pivotal in Obama's first term in office up to the present budget recently sent to Congress. ...President Obama's top economist gave administration support for a new $75 billion stimulus plan that passed the House last month, but a new analysis shows the government has stimulated little in the past year through one of its most vaunted programs -- road construction. In fact, regions and states that received ample stimulus funding for building roads and bridges had equally high unemployment rates as areas that didn't get cash from the $787 billion recovery package signed in February of last year, a new Associated Press analysis found The figures put to the test Obama's argument that more road money would address an "urgent need to accelerate job growth." Construction spending would be a key part of the Jobs for Main Street Act, a $75 billion second stimulus to revive the nation's lethargic unemployment rate and improve the dismal job market for construction workers. The House approved the bill 217-212 last month after House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., worked the floor for an hour; the Senate is expected to consider it later in January http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/01/11/stimulus-spending-roads-bridges-effect-local-unemployment/ |

Guess this explains GEJ's lack lustre attitude to the insurgency in the past..
Buhari Wants Boko Haram Leaders Flown To Aso Rock, Kicks Against Emergency Rule
General Mohammadu Buhari has asked President Goodluck Jonathan to provide an aircraft to fly members of the Boko Haram Sect to Aso Rock for negotiation just like late President Umaru Yar’Adua did to the Niger Delta Militants prior to the Amnesty program.
General Buhari who also kicked against the emergency rule imposed in Borno, Yobe and Admamawa said President Goodluck Jonathan should resign from office for his inability to tackle the security challenges facing the country...
Military Offensive Against Boko Haram,Anti North;Buhari Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) National Leader, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, has criticised the declaration of state of emergency in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe States and the subsequent military offensive against the Boko Haram Islamic sect. Buhari, who featured on the “Guest of the Week,” a Hausa programme of the Kaduna-based Liberty Radio, yesterday said the federal government’s action was a gross injustice against the north.

socialmediaman: Ok, first, here is a list of people convicted or jailed without conviction under buhari:
1. GOV. JIM NWOBODO, ANAMBRA STATE (jailed for 22 years for corruption by the Military tribunal in 1984)
2. GOVERNOR ABBA MUSA RIMI, KADUNA STATE (jailed 21 years in for corruptly enriching 96 legslators of the State House of Assembly by N500,000. Rimi said he had given the money to the legislator "for keeping the law and order in their constituencies"
3. I know this third one will interest you. GOVERNOR AWAAL MUHAMMED IBRAHIM, NIGER STATE. He was convicted by the military tribunal for corrupt practices in 1984. Released by IBB and barred from holding political office for life by the IBB regime in 1986. Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Awwal_Ibrahim
4. GOVERNOR AMBROSE ALI, BENDEL STATE. Fmr. Bendel Governor Ambrose Alli was jailed for 100years for misappropriating funds belonging to Bendel State to the tune of N983,000 meant for a road project. He was later freed when the Esama of Benin, Chief Gabriel Igbinedion, paid a fine to the government. Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ambrose_Folorunsho_Alli
5. VICE PRESIDENT ALEX EKWEME (this will also interest you). Brig. Tunde Idiagbon told reporters Thursday that the stockpiles of money ranged from $56,000 found at the home of former Vice President Alex Ekwueme, to $4.5 million at the residence of the last civilian governor of Kano State, Alhaji Sabo Bakin Zuwo. Source: http://www.nytimes.com/1984/01/21/world/around-the-world-nigeria-says-it-recovers-millions-from-ex-aides.html
6. Governor Aliyu Sabo Bakin Zuwo, Kano state. He was sentenced to 300 years in jail by the military tribubal in 1984 after millions of dollars was said to be found in his home in kano.
7. Umaru Dikko, Kaduna state, former minister of transport and adviser to Shehu Shagari, fled the country to London on self exile when Shagari was overthrown. There was later a failed attempt to smuggle him into the country to answer corruption charges. The government accused him of large scale corruption, especially embezzling millions of dollars from oil revenues.
I will just list the other governors and their sentences on corruption charges:
8. GOVERNOR ABUBAKAR RIMI, KANO STATE. (sentenced 21yrs)
9. APER AKU, BENUE STATE. (sentenced 21yrs)
and many others! So from the list, how was Buhari selective in dispensing justice?
Concerning the "making Nigeria ungovernable for Jonathan" here is evidence that it was not made by Buhari:
It was Reuben Abati, through the GUARDIAN Newspaper that attributed FALSELY this statement by Alhaji Lawal Kaita to Muhammadu Buhari in 2011. Lawal kaita is a close associate of Atiku Abubakar.
“The North is determined, if it happens, to make the country ungovernable for President Jonathan or any other Southerner who finds his way to the seat of power on the platform of the PDP against the principle of the party’s zoning policy. Anything short of a Northerner president is tantamount to stealing our presidency. Jonathan has to go and he will go. Even if he uses incumbency power to get his nomination on the platform of the PDP, he would be frustrated out”. Said by Kaita, not Buhari.
source: dailyindependentnig.com/2012/06/making-nigeria-ungovernable-for-president-jonathan/
Reuben Abati and Guardian Newspaper later apologised to Buhari about the false publication after pleading out of court settlement: dailypost.ng/2013/01/13/presidency-begs-buhari-to-settle-slander-case-out-of-court/
Here are excerpts of the apology:
GUARDIAN Re: For the attention of General Buhari Thursday, 11 July 2013 00:00 Editor SIR: “On April 22, 2011, The Guardian Newspaper published an article on page 51 titled “For the attention of General Buhari” wherein certain allegations were made against General Muhammadu Buhari’s alleged role in the violence emanating from the elections. The publication was based on information which we believed to be reliable at that time. Since the publication, however, we now have reason to believe that certain parts of the story were not verified to be correct before the publication. We assure General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) GCFR of our highest esteem and regret any distress or embarrassment which the said publication may have caused him.”
Thank You. Keep researching, someday i hope you'll drop your ethnic sentiments and judge based on personal research and not bias. Your enemy is a corrupt government whose fraudulent and sick political activities are causing underdevelopment of Nigeria, illiteracy and suffering and anger and division towards one another by Nigerians.
Thank You Straw man arguement as usual. I noticed you disingenuously sidestepped the other issues i raised & picked on the only issue you could tackle conveniently. Even at that, you still did not explain why the vice was incarcerated & the president was kept under house arrest and released after two weeks. socialmediaman: very malicious post with deception clearly intended. Buhari does not claim to be a saint, he just has no tolerance on corruption. Every past military government was brutal, i remember the administration of Olusegun Obasanjo that set up detention and death camps; a desert where you were thrown in to die of starvation. Yet, as president, people were hopeful he would salvage Nigeria. He didnt quite do that, but he separated the military from civilian politics and introduced federal character in their recruitment. The issue is not whether he is against corruption or not. The crux of the issue is how he dispensed justice. After Buhari and his boys overthrew the govt of Shagari with the sole reason that the govt was highly corrupt, he locked up Dr. Alex Ekwueme – the then VP in Kirikiri maximum prison but left Shagari – the president and Head of govt in his mansion. Ekwueme was tried by the tribunal set-up by Buhari and the tribunal declared that he was even poorer than he was before he came into office. Yet, Buhari jailed him and allowed Shagari to relax in his mansion. He gave Dede Sam Mbakwe 100-year jail term for stealing nothing and also went after his wife. Ambrose Ali was tried for an undeveloped plot of land and he was jailed for 75 years with heavy torture that led to blindness and later death. Jim Nwobodo and Lateef Jakande were jailed for 100 years for stealing nothing. Adekunle Ajasin was tried by a military tribunal and found innocent. Buhari ordered a fresh trial, he was found innocent again. Buhari changed the tribunal and tried him again. He was still found innocent. Buhari still jailed him. But, Buhari left his personal friend – Awwal Ibrahim – the then highly corrupt governor of Niger State who was arrested at Heathrow airport with £14 million. Awwal was never jailed. He was placed under house arrest in his mansion like Shagari for just two weeks and indeed released Furthermore, how does the phrase 'i take responsibility for everything that happened in my government' translate to 'i apologise for the wrongs perpetrated by my government'? Buhari is just being clever by half. Need i remind you that nearly all those executions on his watch were carried out by a retrogressive law. The decrees were promulgated and back dated. Who does that? Except of course Buhari. Remember Decree 4? You have access to the internet like you alluded to. I suggest you read up on these issues |

VolvoS60: ^^^ The 'opposition' as you phrase it, has at least 7 other parties and at least 6 presidential candidates. To the best of my knowledge, it has not decided on a consensus candidate. Your comment implying a joint decision by opposition parties to present a 'recycled candidate' is simply odd. Nigerians are free to choose whom they want.
And that choice includes the right to punish non-performance. By your own admission, GEJ did nothing when action was needed. So on what grounds have you decided that he has performed 'relatively well'? And in which 'other sectors'? Sectors other than the 'lethargy sector'? Your phrasing here is unclear. Kindly clarify. Ok maybe i should have been more specific. By opposition i mean the main opposition party being the APC. Do you even know the names of the other candidates running for the office? If you do,care to share? Yes i was concerned the insecurity in North eastern part of the country wasn't getting the attention it deserved until recently. Other sectors where the president has performed creditably well are in the areas of agriculture. And unless you choose to live in denial even folks on the opposing side agree the incumbent government has performed wonders in the agric sector. Roads & transport,Nuff said. The economy is still set to grow despite the slump in oil prices. Experts who make these forecasts are not blind to the reality on ground. Just to mention a few. Like i said earlier, the only likely area GEJ has not performed up to par is wiping the religious bigots from the face of the earth who insist it's their way or the high way

egift: Oga while you lament about Buhari serving under Gen. Sani Abacha, do ask yourself the following: - How many of those working with Jonathan served and supported Abacha? - Why is it despite the Corruption in that regime, Buhari came out as a very bright star? - Despite heading one of the richest institution in that regime, after 16yrs of scrutiny, not even a kobo was found to was stolen by him? OBJ who did the most elaborate investigation, said nothing was found against Buhari and is today support his ambition.
As I said, only the very corrupt politicians and their agents who do not want to stop looting Nigeria are against Buhari as the President of Nigeria. Unless you choose to be disingenuous, you must recall the famous words of Buhari on Abacha....The late military Head of State, Gen. Sani Abacha, did not loot the national treasury contrary to the general impression, two military former heads of state have said. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, who ruled Nigeria between 1983 and 1985, and his successor, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida, gave Abacha the clean bill in Kano yesterday after the rememberance prayers marking 10 years of the death of Abacha, who ruled between 1993 and 1998... Since then...Channels Island to return £315m Abacha loot DECEMBER 1, 2014 BY NAN States of Jersey in the Channels Island will return to Nigeria £315m, seized from the late Sani Abacha, says Michael Birt, the island’s civic head. 'Abacha loot': Nigeria to get $227m from Liechtenstein “FG uncovers fresh N3.2trillion Abacha loot”, reporting that the billions of dollars stashed away in foreign bank accounts by the late military dictator, Gen. Sani Abacha, may far exceed the already established US$ 5 billion, as a Special Investigation Panel (SIP), tracing what has now become ‘Abacha loot’, stumbled on fresh clues indicating that the stolen funds still trapped in offshore accounts stand at over 3.2 trillion Naira. On pa Buhari himself,do you recall the all to familiar story of the 52 suitcases? What about the missing NNPC 2.8 billion Naira? So much for your 'man of integrity'. |
