Tetehjewels:
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State, said officers of the Nigeria Police Force, have arrested Senator Rafiu Ibrahim (representing Kwara South Constituency) ahead of Saturday’s elections.

Hon. Muideen Abdulrahman, Chairman, PDP Kwara South Youth Forum, raised the alarm in a statement Thursday night.

Abdulrahman said the action was a sign that the Police have decided to take sides against the opposition.

“The reason behind Senator Ibrahim’s arrest is currently unknown and reminiscent of last year’s arrest of Kwara PDP leaders in Kwara South constituency during the bye-election”, he noted.

“As at the time of this statement, Lola Ashiru, the candidate of the APC for the Kwara South Senatorial District, was holding a late-night rally, where he celebrated the arrest of Senator Ibrahim stating that the party had the “full support of the Government at the center.

“We, the youths of Kwara South Constituency, hereby call on the international community, specifically, observers who have come to witness the February 23rd election, to take note of the partisan and irresponsible antics of the Nigeria Police Force.

“We also call on all well-meaning Nigerians to join us to call for the release of Distinguished Senator Rafiu Ibrahim, who is known as a peace-loving and highly-performing legislator who always puts the needs of his constituents first and foremost.

“Additionally, we call on the Acting Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, to cease and desist from utilising institutions of state from harassing leading political figures in our state.

“Elections are not do or die affair, hence, all candidates should be free to test their popularity at the polls without fear of intimidation by men of the Nigerian Police who are sworn to ‘serve and protect’ all citizens irrespective of their party affiliation,” he said

He posted this quote from Yemi Osinbajo

'I Wasn't informed of the meeting, when I heard of it, I was refused entrance. Yet, Governors were allowed to attend. -Osinbanjo-

If this quote is confirmed , it will not be the first time the cabal is treating Osinbajo this way. The VP who is considered a paper weight politician is not regarded within the presidents Political circle.

Since Buhari has been the most mentioned name in Nigeria this past year, I think Oxford Dictionary should consider creating a space for him in the dictionary.
For example:
Buhari: /boo-ha-ree/ adjective: hard, difficult, painful , troublesome, harsh, wicked, liar, bad, thief.
.Verb: Buhari.
. Past Tense: Buharied
. Present Continuous: Buharying
. Present Perfect: Buharise
E.g:
... Some girls always like to buharise things,
.
... The test was Buharistic,
.
... I had a very Buharied week.
# Buhari: To complicate, make things worse, unbearable.

[quote author=danieljoel759 post=75959226]On Wednesday, Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo gave the sum of N1 Million to veteran actor, Babatunde Omidina, better known as Baba Suwe.

Osinbajo made the donation through the Office of the Youth Organising Secretary, APC Lagos, Aregbe Idris who was also in the company of popular Nollywood actress, Remi Surutu and other musical acts.

The donation was made as a kind gesture supporting the treatment of the comic actor who is reportedly battling with diabetes amongst other ailments. While making the donation, the vice president offered prayers of quick recovery and further urged well-meaning Nigerians to lend their support to the actor.

“God is to us a God of deliverance; and death has no power over your life. I am positive that his healing hands will restore your health and cast out every form of infirmity in your body,” Osinbajo added.

The Nigerian army has finally reacted to the viral video of cadets, assaulting a young man whose clothes were removed. In the video which went viral last year December, the cadets were spotted slapping the assaulting victim and also torturing him. The Nigerian army who reacted to the viral video of cadets assaulting the young man in a press statement released today, stated that none of the alleged cadets is fully dressed like present day Nigerian Army (NA) personnel. The statement further revealed that the camouflage is not the proper Nigerian army camouflage in use today.

According to Colonel SAGIR MUSA, the Acting Director Army Public Relations, with the silent professional transformation going on in the NA and the professional temperament of the NA leadership at all levels of command, one will be doubtful of the conduct of these “fake soldiers’ as shown in the video recording.

Politics / Re: Abandoned Niger Delta Regions, Beautified By Buhari – Lauretta Onochie by collinsprince: 4:29pm On Feb 21, 2019
psucc:
By Nwafor Sunday

The social media aide to the Nigerian President, Mrs Lauretta Onochie, Wednesday, reeled out facts to prove that the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, President Muhammadu Buhari was indeed a man of his words. Lauretta Onochie Buhari, who came to power democratically in 2015 promised Nigerians ‘CHANGE’, which undoubtedly, was achieved in spite of the economic recession that struck the country in 2017.
Buhari, in his three and half years declared war against insurgency, corruption and economic hardship. His administration is winning the war gradually. Recall that Vanguard had published a statement by Femi Adesina were he listed 10 things Nigerians should know about their economy, and how Buhari has achieved so much in the economic sector. However, following the alleged report by Niger Deltans on marginalization, Onochie took out time to number out projects which President Muhammadu Buhari has completed and some still ongoing in the region. She said that Buhari constructed Otuoke road, ex-president Goodluck Jonathan’s village which he (Jonathan) could not construct when he was the president. “Otuoke, his own village, had no road leading to it nor water. Along with water, the road has only been constructed by the administration of Muhammadu Buhari, a man so much hatred has been galvanized against in the Niger Delta.” Read her full statement below: Under Buhari, The Abandoned Niger Delta Has Been A Construction Site.

I have always held and opined that leadership is about meeting the needs of the people. It’s not about having my brother or sister in position of leadership, unless such a brother or sister has the competence to deliver the dividends of democracy to ALL. I’m worried we’re not allowed to participate in some Rivers’ elections – Buhari Ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, a Christian, PhD, and core Niger Delta son, led this nation for six years. The Niger-Delta has little or nothing to show for it. Otuoke, his own village, had no road leading to it nor water. Along with water, the road has only been constructed by the administration of Muhammadu Buhari, a man so much hatred has been galvanized against in the Niger Delta. But the people know better and they know who their leader is. They know the one who truly loves them; they know the one who cares about them; they know the one that is bringing development to their region; they know the one who is fighting their corner; they know it is President Muhammadu Buhari. Here are some of the projects that are either under construction in the Niger Delta or completed, just some of them. Credit to whoever compiled this. Thank you.

The construction of US$186 million (N65 Billion), 240MW, Power Plant in Afam, Oyigbo, Rivers State. (commenced in 2016, in partnership with General Electric. Project almost completed).

Construction of 120 billion Naira Bonny-Bodo Road in Rivers State, jointly funded by the Federal Government and NLNG. (Project ongoing).

3) The construction of a 459MW Azura Power Plant in Edo State, in partnership with the private sector. Approvals for the US$900 million (N315 Billion) project were given by President Buhari, leading to commencement of construction in 2016. Project completed in May 2018, seven months ahead of schedule.

4) Payment of N1.3 trillion statutory arrears to the NDDC, this money was owed to the commission by all governments of the PDP in an oil boom. Buhari is doing this in a recession. Before this payment, the NDDC has turned may communities in the region into a construction site.

5) Construction of Cassava Processing Plants in six Niger Delta Communities. The communities are Mbutu community in Aboh Mbaise LGA and Okweketa Umuekwune in Ngor-Okpala LGA, Imo State; Ibeku Village, Umuahia, in Abia State; Wanakom in Yala LGA, Cross River State; Gbarantoro, Ekpetiama in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State and Bah Lueku, Nyokalena Village in Khana LGA of Rivers State, Igbotako in Okitipupa LGA of Ondo State.

6) In partnership with the IOCs, Payment of initial $10m (3.5 billion) for kickoff of Ogoni Clean Up. Facilitation of the Clean Up exercise, leading to initial payment of $177m (N62billion) for the first year of the clean up. 15% of this amount already paid to 16 contractors for mobilisation, leading to site mobilisation recently. Over 20,000 persons already given medical services, and 400 surgeries carried out in the medical aspect of the clean up. Procurement for water provision ongoing. And preparation for second year of remediation ongoing. Training and employment of indigenes of Ogoni to work in the project.

7) Completion of new Port Harcourt International Airport Terminal. Police, INEC ready for Feb. 23 elections in C’River Completion of the 60km Alesi–Ugep Road in Cross River State; contract awarded for 72km section from Odukpani Junction to Ugep.

9) Ongoing construction of Modular Refineries in Delta, Rivers and Akwa Ibom States. Delta own is almost concluded. This is a way to involve Niger Delta indigenes in their own oil, something they’ve been clamouring for in years but nobody, not even their “brother” could provide for them.

10) Water Projects: Completed Ogwashi-Uku Dam, Delta State;

Completed Ekeremor Water Supply Project, Edo State;

Completed Northern Ishan Regional Water Supply Project, serving Ugboha and Uromi communities of Edo State;

Completed Rehabilitation of Ojirami Dam Water Supply Project, Edo State;

Completed Central Ogbia Regional Water Project in Bayelsa State.

11) Social Investment Programme: 85,000 N-Power Beneficiaries in the South South; School Feeding has kicked off in 3 of the six States: Akwa Ibom, Cross River and Delta. 214 women who specialize in Poultry and Snail Production were given between N350,000 to N500,00 Each, 198 women and youths in the Niger-Delta region were trained on ICT & business hub, poultry & fish production, under PMB’s administration, 60 youths from the Niger-Delta region were also trained on assemblage and repair of phones.

12) Kick off of Federal Maritime University in Delta State, to the praise of many Niger Delta leaders. Academic activities commenced in 2018. NDDC currently constructing a 69Km link road and bridges to the university. Oil-producing communities draw up template to manage 13% derivation

13) Work is now ongoing on the East-West Road after it was abandoned by previous administration.

14) Ongoing dualisation of Yenegwe Road Junction-Kolo-Otuoke-Bayelsa Palm.

15) Ongoing rehabilitation of Sections 1 to 4 of the Enugu — Port Harcourt Expressway. 16) Rehabilitation of Calabar–Itu–Odukpani Road that links Akwa-Ibom to Cross River (ongoing). 17) Construction f 25KM Ogbia/Nembe road in Bayelsa State costing N21 Billion. Project already 100% completed.

18) Buhari dealt with the so called Niger Delta Avengers, putting Tompolo on the run till today. He eliminated the threat of Don Wanney in Rivers State. The government, through NIMASA, bought several speedboats to deal with the threat of pirates on our waterways.

19) Nimasa engaged 3,752 seafarers, 1,000 of them from Rivers state alone.

20) Many Niger Delta States were unable to pay salary before Buhari took over. But through his comprehensive bailout program to state governments, these States were able to begin to pay salary. This is why all governors in the country love him today

Politics / Re: APC Speaks On Allegation Of Influencing Police Postings To Rig 2019 Elections by collinsprince: 10:25am On Feb 07, 2019
aminulive:
@POLITICSNGR

The All Progressives Congress, APC has reacted to allegations that the recent redeployment of Police Commissioners was aimed at 'rigging' the 2019 general elections, PoliticsNGR has learned.

National Publicity Secretary of the party, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu in a statement in Abuja on Wednesday described the allegations as 'laughable'.

He said, “A nebulous group which parades itself as the CUPP has made some laughable allegations on some police postings, particularly in Kwara State ahead of the forthcoming general elections.

Ordinarily, the APC would not respond to a group of charlatans running errands for the embattled President of the Senate, Dr Bukola Saraki.

However, since the group has issued the statement as a decoy for him, we would direct our reactions to their paymaster.”

Issa-Onilu reiterated that the APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, and indeed other senior party leaders mentioned in the statement were too busy with the party’s presidential campaigns.

He stressed that the APC leadership was too busy with campaigns than to be involved in the childish conspiracies and spurious allegations contained in the statement.

Issa-Onilu, however, said that it was not within the rights or responsibility of any political organisation or group to dictate to agencies empowered by laws how to deliver on specific mandates.

The APC spokesman added that the party believed that leaders with a modicum of honour, should not tread on the path of cowardice by hiding under nebulous groups to make unsubstantiated allegations. He said that the PDP is now scared of its own shadows.

“Let it be known that our party, the APC, has not copied such dubious template from the PDP,” Issa-Onilu said.

He reiterated that “a new and progressive Kwara State beckons through the votes of the people,” adding that the Kwara electorate would decide on the new political direction in the state.

“Kwara State has suffered enough backwardness and underdevelopment resulting from the selfish grip of a self-appointed leader in the state.

“In the next election, the will of the Kwara electorate will prevail,” Issa-Onilu said.

Mutteeme:
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has alleged that the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, had planned to use the uncollected Permanent Voters’ Cards, PVCs, to allocate votes to President Muhammadu Buhari.

In a statement yesterday night by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr. Kola Ologbondiyan, the main opposition party appealed to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for extension of time by three days for collection of the PVCs.

The party said the demand of three days extension was predicated on reports across the country that some compromised INEC officials at the collection centres were deliberately refusing to issue the PVCs to voters, thereby frustrating millions of registered voters.

According to him, “The PDP believes that this deliberate refusal to release the PVCs is part of the wider plot by the APC to disenfranchise millions of Nigerians and frustrate their eagerness to vote out President Buhari at the February 16 presidential election and elect the peoples candidate, Atiku Abubakar.”

The party demanded explanation from INEC for turning back registered voters who went to collect their PVCs and directed them to come at a later date for an exercise that is programmed to end on Friday.

It also called on the leadership of INEC not to plunge the election into a needless controversy but to redeem itself by extending the closing date for the collection of PVCs by three days.

A Nigerian man identified as Peter Nkwuda, reportedly stabbed his neighbour to death over noise at their residence at Oroke Onuoha, Ebonyi Local Government Area of the state on Monday.

The 25-year-old man stabbed his 50-year-old neighbour, Cyril Oko to death, after they got into a heated argument for raising the volume of his sound system to the discomfort of his co-tenants. He was reportedly asked to reduce the volume of the sound system, but reportedly refused.

However after Cyril barged into his room and reduced the sound system's volume himself, Peter brought out a knife and allegedly stabbed his neighbour in the chest. The deceased reportedly died at the scene as all effort to stop the bleeding, proved abortive.

Politics / Re: Sagay Reveals Why He Joined APC, Blasts Yinka Odumakin by collinsprince: 10:34am On Feb 06, 2019

Prof. Itse Sagay (SAN), Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption (PACAC) on Tuesday declared that he is now a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

He however maintained that he did not join the party for material reward.

Sagay, in a statement made available to DAILY INDEPENDENT, said he joined the defunct Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN) founded by the late sage, Obafemi Awolowo, and later became a supporter of the defunct Alliance for Democracy (AD), Action Congress (AC) and Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) led by Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, who according to him, is the closest inheritor of Awolowo’s mantle.

Sagay, in the statement, also had some strong words for Yinka Odumakin, National Publicity Secretary of Afenifere, who he said supported and became the spokesman of President Muhammadu Buhari, then candidate of the Congress for Progressives Change (CPC) in the 2011 presidential election, but dumped him for former President Goodluck Jonathan, who won the election.

“I have never been involved in politics for gain in my life. In 1979, I joined the UPN of Chief Awolowo. I was a member of the UPN Think Tank, based in Ile-Ife and headed by no less a person than the late Prof. Sam Aluko. We asked for no material reward and were given none.

“I was a supporter of AD, AC and ACN led by Asiwaju Tinubu, who I regard as the closest inheritor of the Awolowo mantle. Now, I am a member of the APC and I am serving it just as I served the Action Group. I have not changed since 1962. I will never change.

“In 2011, Odumakin came calling at my house with a card from Gen. Buhari seeking my support. Odumakin spent two hours, vigorously putting across the high qualities of Gen. Buhari. Although, I was already inclined to support Buhari, Odumakin’s visit capped the whole matter.

“But, what of Odumakin himself? He was a chief supporter and spokesman for Buhari in 2011, but as the whole world knows, Buhari has no free money for anybody. And so, Odumakin packed his bag, abandoned Buhari and headed for Jonathan to become Jonathan’s errand boy.

“Jonathan lost the election and carpet bagger Odumakin pulled up his tent from Jonathan’s environment and headed for Atiku to pitch his tent there. Odumakin always follows the money…

“He is a man who moves from camp to camp in order to feed. Unfortunately, Odumakin brings bad luck to every principal he purports to serve. When he served Buhari, Buhari lost the presidential election in 2011. He moved on to Jonathan, and Jonathan lost the presidential election in 2015. Now that he has moved on to Atiku, Atiku’s fate can be foretold.”

Sagay, in the statement, also denied the claim allegedly made by Odumakin that he supported calls for the extradition in 2015 of the late Diepreye Alameiyeseigha, former governor of Bayelsa to the United Kingdom.

“For me, the most painful part of his savage attack on me is his assertion that I betrayed Deprieye Alameiyeseigha, former governor of Bayelsa State. Odumakin had made this assertion before in October 2017; I corrected it in the newspapers. That he has repeated these lies again shows that Odumakin is a chronic and unrepentant liar.

“Let me say straight away that I was strongly opposed to the rumoured move by government to extradite the former governor. I was certainly not consulted by the government and could therefore not have advised them on that subject. All these stories were concocted by his enemies in order to ruin my reputation.”

PDP use the VP Helicopter for 16 years without servicing it, that's why VP Osinbajo crash land in Kabba today.
