PoliticsHow Kalu Stole N3bn And Nyame Spent N250m On Stationery In 2 Months by Colonia(op): 1:48am On Jul 17, 2007
The former governor of Abia State, Chief Orji Uzor Kalu, has been accused of laundering about N3 billion by the EFCC. The EFCC detailed a total of 107 counts charge, giving a blow-by-blow account of how he allegedly used the machinery of Slok, his private company, to launder about N3billion.

The EFCC said a pattern was established in the alleged looting of Abia State funds in the form of “piecemeal but frequent” transfer of the funds between the trio of Kalu, his Mother, Eunice Agwu, and Emeka Kalu.

They also gave details of how the former governor of Taraba State, Rev. Jolly Nyame, allegedly allocated the sum of N250 million for the purchase of stationery for government offices and diverted about N180 million for his personal use. The former governor said this in a confessional statement signed by him.

In March 2003 N45 million and N55 million were transferred on the 18th and 31st and on the 3rd of June 2005, N21million and N10million were allegedly transferred to Slok account.

A total of 19 witnesses, including investigating EFCC operatives, have been lined up to testify against Kalu.

On another count, the former governor of Taraba State was accused of receiving a bribe of N80 million in April, 2005, from a contractor, Abubakar Suleiman of Alusab International (Nig) Ltd, through Salman Global Ventures (Nig) Ltd in the Ibi/Wkari Water Project awarded by the Taraba State Government.

In his statement to the EFCC, the former governor admitted knowing Abubakar but said he did not know details about his company and promised to contact government officials that allegedly gave him the kick back and stated that “whatever is my share, I will refund it.”

Last Friday, the EFCC arraigned Joshua Dariye, Saminu Turaki, and Orji Kalu of Plateau, Jigawa, and Abia States respectively.

About the accuracy we only have God to ask because no one actually knows the true situation.Maybe we shld start by checking how much of the State allocation was spent and how much missing since he became governor.

we should focus more on how we will make our own millions and billions. talking from now to tomorrow will not change how much they claim they have.
Good advice but we need to keep it real ,its good to make money as long as we don't plan on looting like many.

Gbenga Daniel I can vouch for. He was running a well established international business before he came to run for governorship. Lemme go and search google.

His current salary as governor is far less than what he was making as a business man.

Na wah for Nigeria O! Do you guys remember that Harry Akande wanted to become president of Nigeria? With his billions of dollars, am sure if he'd been the one quitting office May 29th with a total asset in billions of Naira, Nigerians would have still shouted. You must enter a pauper and leave a pauper or enter a billionaire and leave a pauper. That is the way of the Nigerian Government official.
I would thread softly with this, because we have been lied to for many years and all these assets declaration, who is actually confirming that the stated income etc is true. Is there a body in Nigeria that looks into public office holders assets ? Or is it just a matter of whatever they declared ?We are been enslaved by our own people right here in Nigeria. Everybody mentality is all screwed up because of poverty, some had to run to our old masters ( Oyinbo) for survival. It is time for a change . Lets us face it and i have said it before until we Unite and stop been self centered things will never change.

How much is your yearly salary as a governor?
BIG B based on this declaration , the governors are just writing the checks  grin some don't even know how much they make . Its too overwhelming. We are all very well aware that he has more than what he declared. Have you noticed how quick our politicians claim that their wives have Billionshuhhuh makes me wonder what royal family they all married from??

I am actually getting sick of this biased press releases . They are misleading and evidently controlled by certain individuals. The guys that knows whats up are either in exile or in jail. The point is OBJ will not be arrested for now because I am guessing he was smart enough to agree to leave him out of any future investigation. Let's do the math he piloted this new goverment for a reason. But i think if they decide to arrest governors they need to arrest everybody involved. is that going to happen? I have no clue. And watch this!!! who even has the right to initiate such arrests when everybody na Thief!!!!!

Exactly, and these are the same folks that we cry and cry that the leaders are destroying the country. It is sad and a shame that we find it very difficult to see part of the problems inside our homes or back yard.

Yes, the leaders are bastards, but we also need to get it together as the citizens of Nigeria.

Country like United States maintains a great status (better standard of living) mostly because of the citizens' commitment and dedication to doing what is right.
Right on, here goes another man made problem. The solution is not yet here we already planning the problem.

If you sit in Abuja eating money, contracts etc what do you think common Nepa man will do? This leader need to know that they are not fooling anybody. example, you get into a position all of a sudden you have more cars, marry more wives, send all you kids abroad. Do they think commom market woman needs a recommended glasses to know whats up. Please gimme a break.

Colonia ha ha ha. Remember LEADERS get gifts and criminals or accused politicians get kickbacks. IS it ethical to accept gifts as a public figure?
Until we realise that once you get so called " gift" you have sold your integrity , soul etc we will continue to hide from the truth. How can you be eating someone food and talk bad about the food,In Nigeria you are considered a traitor. As long as your SOUL is for sale you will always shy away from the truth. As we all know the TRUTH is bitter.

How can you stop kickback in Nigeria. its in our blood and we will not award contracts without kickbacks. There is no check and balances or accountability in Nigeria and that is what is killing us. Even the local taxi driver will not service their car until the wheel fall off. our issue in Nigeria is too complex.
Most of this company know they can get away with murder in Nigeria , this will never happen in a society where accountability is priority. We need leader that will hold folks responsible for all their actions.
PoliticsRe: Nigeria : The Land Of Promised Electricity. by Colonia(m): 3:46pm On Jul 15, 2007
I have no idea what they are doing so far. It is a shame that up till now we do not have stable electricity , no good roads and we have terrible infrastructures. But we should also be careful and remember corruption is now part of our culture. It will take some time to have credible government and not to forget the populace mindset which is full of corrupt practices. But i have hope that things will turn around if we all join together to bring back our country.

Guys!!we need to accept the truth,  we all contributed to the state of things in our beloved country. Like i said in the past we are unique creation. ( Nigerians in general) We all need to redirect our energy and lets focus on positive things for once . All these negative recomendation has never helped and will never help us. if we arrest all the bad folks , which is very cool and bring them to justice , are we really addressing the issue from individual household ?. is our outlook toward life better? we all need to pray for restoration . Something is missing in Nigeria until we can identify it i dont know what to say and by the way what is missing is "THE TRUTH".Lets face it ritual kiliings , 419, pen robbery, lie lie everywhere etc. Lets bring INTEGRITY back to Nigeria Peace!

Just to let you guys know very few Nigerians are given opportunity to get to the top in Oyinbo land . Unless you have your own Company it is very difficult to reach the top in Oyinbo Land. I understand if Companies owned by Indians are giving their Nationals priority. Let Nigerian companies do the same. Or else !!!! we are selling our birthright . I pity the coming generation. If we sell ourself short at home imagine what is going on all over the world where Nigerians are relocating to.

angel101 where has our leaders fail us? they are not taking the necessary action to bring the country back to the right part. IF you must recollect, Nigeria's are the most useless and mentally deluded people. We criticize every action, we don't and can not stand change. remember when IDIAGBON and Buhari came with war against indiscipline? what did we all say.

People were saying HE must be crazy and after the guy was overthrown by IBB we say the impact of his administration and what his intentions are. So many people here won;t even hold a flash light to assist their neighbor to change a tire at night and yet they want to talk about security. Can you have a functional security with no training and no ammunition? you pay this policemen 8000 Naira a month and yet we expect them to prevent crime with their hands.
