I have been taking care of my mother since before I got married, I have other brothers older and younger but they are not financially buoyant. (So they claimed) I did not mind this but kept on caring for her ( house rent, feeding, other bills).

Although it's a burden to me, but she is my mother. Now my wife suggest that any money I want to give to her should pass through her (I will send to my wife then she sends to my mother) or she does the sending and I later pay her back.

Her claim is my mother is fetish with my money. I'm confused can this be true? Sometimes my mother will make simple money request my wife would say I should ignore her. She says she is taking me for a fool. I am beginning to get tired of this whole thing. Please help with advice or opinions.

Truth be told, I really don't know how some of you Igbo's see things.

I haven't seen much here that overinflated. Styfff can vary pretty widely depending on where you live. Accommodation in New York that's $3000 might be $1500 in New Orleans.

Your comment suggest you have a pretty good professional job along with your spouse. If there are two good earners in a family abroad and neither wastes money on fashion and gadgets, then then yes you can have money left over.

Other people though may have only one income (usually for kid issues), and the income is not great, but so they will tend to struggle. Extra income from spouse makes a lot of difference abroad.

Those who haven’t traveled think living abroad is Disneyland. It had its perks but you also have to bust your azz to pay these bills every single month and when you don’t pay, you get kicked out of your place or the utilities get turned off or they even come and take your car.
Living abroad comes with the stress of maintaining yourself monthly. People borrow money so they can take their annual trip back to Naija just to floss and flex then they spend the rest of the year or more paying that bill.

For a family of 5. Province, Alberta.

1. Mortgage =$2,500 (ppty tax & insurance included)
2. Grocery Shopping = $900 (African food, Eat out Inc.)
3. Utility bills (electricity, shaw and mobile phones) = $700
4a 1 Auto loan and insurance = $730, we have 2 cars one is paid off. and one is on loan
4b. Auto Gas = $200 wifey doesn't drive much
5. Day care for the last child= $800/month
6. Miscellaneous =$200

Total = about $ 6000 monthly

Whats the essence of this post other than showing off and childishness. Peoples circumstances in life are different. We have people at home doing better than those abroad and we have some residing in Western World who are stucked there for years and cannot even feed themselve. We all know those abroad send money home regardless of the country. Even those at home spend more money on their loved ones. We can't be comparing and competing with ourself. This post is highly unnecessary. God can bless anyone regardless of the country you are and your situation can change quickly.
