Zaynie. Welcome back kiss kiss

Ovems. Pele. grin I can completely relate.

All the suggestions and much more given by all the mums here, I tried them all and my son didnt budge. There is nothing you will offer my son at night that he will take apart from breast milk - even formula. I introduced milo when he clocked one, introduced heavier meals but he would still wake up at night to suck (not once, not twice). At the height of desperation, I bought robinson's fruity shoot, caprisonne but he would refuse them all.

At a stage he would pull my top up and be dragging my boobs from my bra. Once he's back from nursery, he won't even wait for me to take off my coat before he starts crying to be breastfed.

I finally had to take the bull by the horn and adopt a 'gangster' technique last week Saturday and today is the 9th day and we are breastmilk free. grin grin

For the first time in monthssssssss, he slept all through the night on Friday.

Phew !!!

Now when he wakes up at night, he eats any snack I offer - sandwich, oats, plantain, etc, he drinks water, we watch "wheels on the bus" for 5-10mins, and he sleeps off. grin grin Tonight, I will be reintroducing him back to his cot. No more co-sleeping as he enjoys placing his head on my chest. cheesy

I will suggest you endure till he's 12 months old. If at 12months, he fails to self wean or you are still adamant on stopping him from breastfeeding, mention my username and I will share my 'gangster' technique. grin
Pls ma, share it now. I really need it, save me o.

Thanks Onegai, Soonest, AlphaHandMaiden and Zaynie. I will try to give him water instead at night. When I tried it sometime ago, he refused to take it and woke up fully instead. I have also tried ignoring or cuddling him instead of feeding him and he just cried and became fully awake. I feed him well at night, but no matter how much he eats at night, he still wakes up. Will try with the water again and see how it goes. Thanks once again.
We are in the same shoe o my sister, I have tried all the triable, this boy refused o, except BM at night. Planning to wean him this Dec, but how to go about it is my daily thought now.

Feddy27, I have always known that you are a beautiful mum, God bless your family.

jazzyjazz, your response to questions always melt my heart. More wisdom.

AlphaHandMaiden, you are lucky with your mother in law, not all are like that. Most mil think they came to enjoy o, practical example from my side. After bathing baby, she will go and brush sit down and be expecting B/F, she will finish eating and shift the plate to one side for you, and lie on the sofa to sleep leaving the plate on the table to come pack, if you don't prepare lunch, she will frown face and do as if she has not eaten since morning.
If you don't pass, she won't drink water, as in she will send you to go get it.

She will complain that I don't like breastfeeding in the public, that my BM doesn't fill up, she saw me with pressure pot, she said she will buy, wanted to go with knife Go-TV, Wanted the son to go drop her in the village, Hubby self was tired and said she is not coming again. Always complaining that my rice is not done.

When I couldn't tolerate her excesses again, I told my hubby that I want to travel to where I will be taken care of and have adequate rest. Took over my baby from 2 months and we are 14 months now.

But, come to think of it, I didn't know that there is tradition for omugwo o, my hubby doesn't believe that and that he can never allow me to go stay with any of his family members for any reason. I love that man mehn, always on the same page with me.

Lawvlypearl, Pele. I almost cry when I was reading your rant. I don't know all these men that allow their wives to go stay in family house o, if you can't come over, stay in your house. I can't deal mehn!!!

Congrats to our new mothers.

exactly the king of treatment I'm looking for, thanks its back pain, I will try both
ok , the flat surface is not matress o. And pls, adjust the way you breastfeed, bring baby close to breast rather than bending ur back when breastfeeding and avoid lifting heavy object. If you want to pick or carry things from the ground, don't bend ur back, do as if you want to kneel down and carry whatever you want to carry.

Pls mamas as a nursing mother how do I get rid of jedijedi, I can't stand or sit straight, back pain is killing me too and I don't want to take all this local agbo.

I know we haven't registered here grin but pls help cry
Squeeze scent leaf and drink it for like 5 days, you can as well prepare bitter leaf soup to augment the scent leaf. Avoid sugary things.

For more clarification, is it back pain or waist pain?

If its back pain, it not jedijedi o, may be the way you are sitting breastfeeding. Lie on a flat surface for like 30 minutes everyday. Massage it with balm.

But if its waist pain, try my first option.

babythug:
Thorpido has done justice to your questions really! I'm hoping this thread goes far to enlighten those who don't know.

I don't even think it should be called female circumcision but female genital mutilation.

If it does prevent promiscuity it's probably from the emotional trauma the victim has experienced (that's for those who had it done at an age where they were aware)during the process.

Many women who were circumcised do not enjoy sex per se later on in life. This is one of its many disadvantages.

As for the powder ish..... its total hogwash! Of true then we shouldn't be using dusting powder at all since it purportedly has many cause effects! There's some talk about it being linked to cervical cancer though! I also don't see the essence of adding something with menthol to a baby's privates anyway.

I will advice you keep a close watch on your aunt so she doesn't convince your mum to chop off baby's "you know what".

This Africa sef na wa! One minute we seem to be moving away from old traditions next minute you'll see someone doing this to their child
Am sure this child won't forgive her/his parents for this kind of act. They need to be arrested. Haba!!! this is pure wickedness o.

Experienced Papas Mamas and Doctors, please help me chook mouth inside this matter o.

So an aunt saw mum bathing my daughter and started asking why we didn't cut off that thing in her hoohaa.
I started wailing that it is not even something any mom in this age should consider.

Then she said there is an alternative.
That leaving it like that will make her too "active"
That alternative is dusting powder.
Dusting powder!!!

She says it will kill some cells that cause the need for too much pleasure.

Please don't read and waka pass o.
Let us deal with this matter.
People need to be aware.

I am concerned because I wouldn't want to my girl to grow up and start being promiscuous. I heard a story of one waka waka lady who claimed that it was because nothing was done to her hoohaa...

Is there even any truth in that?
If there is, are there ways one can prevent such?

Should the hoohaa of our female infants be left just as they are? Any risks.

Help please embarassed
Pls, don't allow it o. Dusting powder is not even meant for babies body/skin talk less of applying it to that area. Just bring up your baby in tr way of the Lord and pray for her to be an obedient child. Teach her what she needs to know per time and don't create unnecessary fear in her. She will surely make you a proud momma.

Kind of scared to leave my newborn with all these omugwo stuff, when the time comes sha, we go know who get pikin.

That was how MIL was stylishly massaging my boy's C/ssion site, after serious warning from nurse. I told her son to pls stop her immediately.

[quote author=spiceeamiee post=51303027]Good afternoon bumping mamas. Hope we are all doing fine. I'm new here (although I posted about my preg news a few days ago). I asked our sabi mamas what kind of prenatals I should be taking but nobody answered me oo embarassed embarassed embarassed. Anyways I sha went and bought Pregnacare Original and Folic acid with Vit B12. I hope I am on the right track? If there are any other vitamins to add, please let me know. Its not that I'm self medicating o. I only found out that I was pregnant this past Saturday so I have been making inquiries about antenatal registration but I just want to be proactive pending when I will register which will be by this weekend by God's grace. I have a few questions to ask and pls, able mamas don't pass by without answers o

a. How do I officially register on NL preggy thread?

b. I got married on 29th Oct. My last period was on 22nd and ovu was 5th of Nov. Found out I was preggy on 19th. However, I read online that the pregnancy will be counted from the first day of my last period. By this calculation, I should be almost 5weeks now. Ejo, is it true? I feel its funny considering that I never even stay husband house reach 5weeks.

c. The other issue that has been bothering me is this. From 5th of Nov, I had this terrible cold and catarrh and I took Actifed tablets twice daily for 4days. On 11th of Nov, I had very terrible waist pain that I couldn't stand up. It was so bad that I feared I was going to get paralyzed and my village people that did not want me to get married had finally caught up with me grin grin grin. Kai, I had no idea it was implantation pain. On Sunday the 13th, hubby got Diclofenac for me and I took two tablets. By evening of that Sunday, I was having terrible heartburns (I have ulcer) so I thought it was caused by the Diclofenac I took. By Monday 14th, I bought Omeperazole and took one tablet. I did not take the Diclofenac again. I also only took the Omeperazole tablet once. By Saturday 19th, I did a strip and blood test which confirmed me preggy. Now my fear is if all these drugs I took will not affect my babies ( im praying for twins!) In any way.

Pls, don't self medicate in pregnancy, not so safe. H&H bumping.

Mothers without househelps, how do you guys cope? Please I need ideas o! My mum went back to her base two weeks ago and it's not been easy for me. Still sourcing for S househelps but yet to get one. Hubby had to take me to the hospital last night because I felt so weak but I'm better now. It's not easy taking care of my ds, the house. My husband etc. I'll appreciate useful tried and tested ways to manage myself. Hubby tries too but he works till night time so the only time he can really help out is on weekends
I do the ones I can and leave the rest. I cannot come and kpai untimely!

Do the little you can do, rest ! Pls, don't kill yourself o, cos life will continue. So pls, sleep while baby is sleeping, back baby if you have little things to do.

Don't work round the clock. The only chore I can ask you to do while baby is sleeping is sweeping, may be Lo is in the bedroom, quickly sweep your sitting room.

Mama, I ve stopped the regal gin. I took just four bottles (the small one) over a space of three weeks and then stopped. Then, what alternative can I use if I stop the gripe water. I don't want to just leave her like that.
Infacol is okay, though I didn't use it but mamas here confirmed it.

Tell grandma to help massage with hot water as mitchyy explained in that screenshot. Its very effective.

Mamas in the house pls help a FTM. I have the following concerns:

1. My dd is a month today. I noticed that she stretches a lot, sometimes in pains. I give her gripe water but it doesn't seem to give her relief. She used to get some relief when I lay her on her tummy but yesterday and today have been different. She wakes up crying when I do. What can I do to relieve her of the pain as my mum says its her navel healing from the inside. I just can't bear it when she starts stretching.

Pls help a FTM

Talking about people's opinion..... mine is not about my baby but what she told me was annoying.

I delivered through cs. So when my friend came to the hospital she said ' did you pray and read your bible ' and am like wtf because she had a virginal birth. Mheeen I just told her not to ask me such nonsense question.

Some people need a brain resetting slap. she felt I didn't pray hard enough or what.... does she know the number of days I prayed and cried to God to grant me safe delivery? God did it, My baby arrived and I'm alive cs or virginal birth the goal is # mother alive, baby alive, husband alive and plenty money#;d
People are just too pius, so God that gave the wisdom fr another option of delivery doesn't know what he's doing. A Dr once asked me the process of my son delivery and I told him its natural delivery, he just smiled and asked which one is artificial delivery.

My boss told me immediately he noticed that I was pregnant, that I should prepare for both delivery methods, that anything can arise at anytime and to even say then that I was fighting high blood pressure during my preggy days.

So the most important thing is safe delivery and having a healthy baby.

Pls experienced mother's in the house help!

My DD who is two weeks old hasn't pooed for three days now but passes gas( farts) a lot, she is on EBF. Should I be worried?

Also her cord stump fell off on the fifth day and I have been cleaning the site with cotton wool and spirit but I noticed the place bkd slightly this evening while I was changing her diaper, I cleaned the stale blood away and it stopped, is there cause for worry?

Pls help a FTM.
EBF babies can go for days without poking, as long as she is farting.

Keep cleaning the navel, but if by tomorrow or next you are still seeing blood, may be you should consult your Dr.

As per colic, let me post mitchyy's method for you.

Congratulations!

Zion, I sight you. How is our baby doing?

She thanked me later!!!
