Ma, how can one go about it then? Though cereal was what saved me during the weaning period, rather than breastfeeding at night, I gave him cereal or tea and this reduce the rate at which he used to feed at night. Then , during the day also, I reduced to breastfeeding like 2x, later reduced to 1. after 2 weeks, if I say suck suck he will just put his mouth and bite my nipple. That was how I stopped finally. Then dealing with engorgement again is another work, but warm compress helped me and I was relieved finally after 1week.

Am planning start weaning my kids but the thought of them loving breast like kilode is giving me headache. I don't really know how they will react to it. My hubby said I should wait till they are a year six months, that like seven months aways, huh? Can I cope, I beg am managing till they are a year old.

Pls what's the best practices for weaning kids?

Reduce it gradually till they feel the taste no more. U can't just stop them at a go, it's a gradual process. that's what works for me. Rather than breastfeeding at night, give them cereal.

u can apply sudocream and also free her from diaper during the day. With time, it will dry up. Hope the stooling has stopped? if no, pls take her to the hospital for proper treatment.

Dunno how to say dont touch her hand... she sucks it.

Hmmm, u really need wisdom in that aspect, cos some people are easily offended and you have to protect your baby as well.

The only solution I know here is to always clean the hand with wipes when u r outside and wash it with soap as soon as u get home. But, is there anyway u can stop her from sucking?

My girl was purging and i did take her to d hospital and it returned after 1 week and i went to anither hospital.
Now it has stopped.
Only 4 SIL to shout over d phone that i like to watse money.
I dont know if i asked her for money or if its her money.
Mschewwww....

I was so worried cos we had d ROTA virus vaccine o.
I was worried shitless.
Thank God its all in d past.

No, some children have their teeth without any hitch, but when the baby is kind of uncomfortable/feverish during teething, then you can give bonababe or any other Brand. Bonababa has piriton and its not really advisable to be loading it into baby's system everyday. Just tell her u have heard and if she asked you if u have started it, tell her yes and follow your heart.

To me, I think unusual watery/mucus poo like 4-5 times a day calls for concern.

The most important first aid here is ORS! keep the baby hydrated, if the baby is not taking it, use sterilized syringe/ dropper to help out.

To all mamas: Read thru your baby immunization card to see his to treat diarrhea, and always consult your Dr before things get out of hand.

Pls o wonderful mamas, if ur baby is purging, don't allow anyone to tell u is teething o. Do the needful by taking your baby to the hospital for proper treatment.
My neighbour's sister just lost her baby due to diarrhea.

God will give us the wisdom to be able to take care of these babies.

I don't think she will be offended. There is a lady in my church that we hardly talk, when she gave birth, I sent her some OK stuff via her husband and I later discovered that she doesn't dress well for the baby when they later resumed church. So, I packed my boy's used clothes and baby shoes. I sat with her on the day I wanted to give her the stuffs, played with the baby and after the service, I just handed the pack over to her, she was very greatful. To my surprise, for the past 3 weeks that I gave her those stuffs, she has been wearing the clothes for the baby to church and now, we sit together in every service. She really appreciate those things and that has made me decided to give her more things.

We are best of friends now. So, do your own part and u will be surprised she will appreciate it.

There is nothing you can do. My boy brought out 2 teeth at 11 months. Pls don't compare him, children have different milestone. Some children were born with teeth self, I yen tun nko!!!!!

I've not weaned a child before ooo but my neighbour told me of how she weaned her son using bitter leaf. She plucked few bitter leafes, smashed it and rubbed the water that came out from it on her tips so whenever her son came to suck, he will just taste the bitter taste and run. She continued doing that for days until the toddler got tired of looking for the bitter stuff himself.

My sis, I thought weaning a baby is a difficult task before but now, it seems its one of the simplest thing to achieve I. this journey so far. I planned to breastfeed my boy for 1year 6 myths before but different kinds of mouth here and there made me change my mind to 15 months. His father has been complaining, but I kept breastfeeding him, so few days back, his father started yabbing him of sucking, only for me to bring out breast, he looked at me and started smiling, he sucked it a bit and stopped. Another time, he looked at me put his mouth and bite my nipple, he has bitten me like 3 times now without sucking.

Now to the main issue, whenever he wakes up, I give him cereal. That will make him to sleep for like 4 hrs at a stretch. Then I give him Tea again, that take him till day break. Then Crunching Digestive biscuit whenever he feels like his mouth should be busy.
He now wake up less unlike when he was still sucking at night.

God just made it easy for me. Thank you Jesus, it can only be You.


At least, am proud to breastfeed him for 15 months.

Hello Mamas, compliments of the season.

Pls oh, My DD (she is 3weeks and 5 days) hasn't pooped in 24 hours (last she pooped was around 4am on friday morning and it was quite much). She has been releasing very smelly 'fart' and peeing well, but she still hasn't pooped and i'm a bit worried.
I have taken lots of orange and beans so that she can get it through BM to help her poop but nothing yet o.

we are on BM and formula (NAN1 which she takes only twice a day)

Worry not, but since she is on formula as well, you can give her water. 24 hrs is nothing to worry about as long as she is releasing gas (fart).

Be ready for more smelly fart with the beans you are eating. lol.
