Career › Re: Should I Stop Work And Do A Masters Programme? by ConcernedNL: 9:51am On Jul 16, 2017 |
rien05: Hello House,
Kindly advise me on which way to follow. I currently earn 150k per month and I am thinking of enrolling for an MBA in Unilag. My headache is I will have to pick the full time option because it is cheaper and has better lecture hours, which means I have to stop work. Classes are from 9am-2pm weekly. The fee is about 200k. I am skeptical about the part time option because its classes are during the evenings from 4pm to 8pm. I live and work on the island(Ajah) and close by 5pm. My boss won't allow me close by 3pm. He might agree to close at 4pm but even if he agrees to 3pm, there's no way I will get to Unilag before 5:30pm(on a no traffic day) by public transport. And lets say I finish lectures by 8pm, with the traffic and all I might be getting home by 11pm or so(dangerous for a girl). And it will so tell on me because the stress will be too much.(I am already a Lekpa I don't want to disappear). The koko again is that the fees for part time is about 500k.(I just started earning 150k ooh and also ponzi finish my money at the beginning of the year. GREED. don't blame me ohh, many people fell victim with me). The last option is the Executive MBA. Classes are on saturdays from 8pm to 4pm. The fee is about 2Million. I won't even go there. If I say I should do another Masters course it will have to be a science course which are all full time.
My question is should I take the risk to forfeit my job and do my MBA? The forms are out. I want to prepare my mind before buying the form(N22,500). I really want an upgrade to my certificate. I also need money to keep me going because there is no one to lean on. Everybody is forming OYO. And I also don't want to regret embracing an opportunity now that I have money for fees. No one knows tomorrow. Please advise oooohhhhhh mbok It will be tough, but you should try the part time once and for all. I also found reasons to procastinate like you are about to do and its not worth it. Eventually your current no masters degree position will be obselate. BSc is the new secondary school cert. Join me in the journey. |

dammyluv911: Please My Friend Needs Advice Urgently
A friend of mine got herself pregnant by a male friend of hers. Initially the guy wanted her to get rid of it and she has been warned about abortion. The guy later accepted the pregnancy and promised to take care of her and the baby.
He said it should better be a female child. The guy said he will collect the child but he won't marry her claiming he does not love her. My friend is now in love with this guy and she wants them to bring up the baby together cos she does not want the child to pass through what she passed through (she was brought up by a single parent).
This guy claims he does not love her and he doesn't want to see her with any other guy, he asks questions whenever any guy calls, he cares about her welfare and a times complains about her dressing or even dictate for her on the clothes to wear.
Pls it there any way she can make the guy love her? A man doesn't love you he doesn't love you. He will always believe she wanted to tie him down and dislike her for it. She's in for a really tough ride, I hope she is more fortunate than usually obtainable. She should forget the guy though. |

Family › Re: A Strange Woman In My Home.. How Do I Go About It?? by ConcernedNL: 9:58pm On Jul 07, 2017 |
Hernyolar: Good day familylanders. I come here to air my current dilemma and ask for a way out. I'm married with a kid, got separated with my husband last year Jan due to some little issues that weren't managed properly and got escalated.. We stayed in touch for A year cos of child welfare and the rest. He obviously had a relationship with another lady in his base, while I remain single Sometimes this year, we started talking about reconciliation and the talks went well, we've seen our mistakes and accepted to work on the marriage. He confessed to me he had a relationship with a lady but he told he was married with a child and he wasn't going to divorce his wife neither marry her (the lady) so twas a deal sort of and he has broken up with her ( which she confirmed)
He's come to see me in my place and I got posted for an official assignment to his state..He told me the girl has refused to leave even after he told her he has reconciled with his wife and the rest.
I got in yesterday and all hell was let loose, the lady was so violent and was saying all manner of trash, threatening fire and hailstone.. I simply asked her, do you know he was married? Did he tell you we were divorced?? Did you see my things in the house? She answered "yes". She said she has no place to go..I was even willing to give her something to take care of herself but she said " no", she wanted my husband and I should start realising she will become a second wife..
My husband in all this have been calling people to talk to her and go without violence..She's called my in-laws to curse(dunno how she got their numbers)... calling friends to tell them she isn't moving out of the house
It's really messy here and I don't want to create a scene..someone advised me I should involve the Civil defence authority.
I really dunno what to do
Please advise me
Royalroy For your safety and that of your child, vacate the premises, even if you succesdilky chase her out, she could still get people to attack. Your husband must deal with the situation before a set time, if he is unsucessful, my dear, you might have to move on. When he was chopping a mad woman he didn't know, now the mad woman has hooked his neck. |

stressedout: I packed into a new compond last week. Everybody is okay or minding their business which i like about the place because i like to mind my business too. But there is this family that has a child that don't have single respect in her.
One instance is when i washed my cloth and spread on the wire. When she washed her own she pile my wet cloth on each other and spread her own. i didnt say anything.
second time is when i kept my rat gum in front of my house and went to get pipe to remove the rat. she was sweeping and swept sand all over the gum and useless it. when i protest she said it is a mistake and she is not going to apologize for an ordinary mistake. i almost flog her with the pipe.
This is a girl of 22 that claim to be a graduate but no sense at her age. I dont want to involve the parents but i want to find a way to deal with her and teach her respect for the elderly. how do i go about this? Either you become friends with her or ignore her totally, regardless of what she does. Don't get into an argument with her at all, just seek peace with all men, its not for you to deal with her. |

damesilver: A CALL FOR IMPROVEMENT IN HEALTH CARE FACILITY IN FUTA.
On the 30th of June 2017, I was down with a serious illness which necessitated my repeated visits to the school health center. This is not the first of my visits to the center for medical attention but this time around my ailing condition is debilitating. The reception there was however fair; but some crucial areas need to be strengthened with utmost urgency due to a general decline in the economy of the nation which has a strong link with the health status of the citizens.
I am a student of the school in the faculty of environmental studies. I visited the center at around 2:00 pm on Friday the 30th June, this year. I was given some tablet which proved later to be inadequate for the containment of my ailment. On getting back to the class, I sensed an aggravation of the symptoms. I visited the center again at around 4:45pm. I met some students there, too, who were waiting to see the doctor. It was discomforting that after about 30 minutes we were still waiting; so I enquired as to the cause of the delay. We were told that the doctor was attending to an emergency.
I made it known to a nurse there that amongst we students waiting, there could be an emergency, too. That a student is standing upright doesn’t mean he/she still has modicum of strength at his/her disposal to wait a little longer. It is not too good that only one doctor is made to attend to patients at that time, especially in a campus health facility. What if there more cases of emergency at that time?.
Fortunately a little while, the doctor on duty came to attend to us. I laid my complaint and she recommended that I take injection which I quickly nodded to in acceptance. During my session with her I apologized for my impatience as to the demand for her attention. She responded that only one doctor would be on duty at evening period till the following morning.
On getting home at night, I made effort to sleep but sleep proved to be impossible. I was always waking up at every passing hour. The ailing condition was getting fatal, that all sort of thoughts raced through my mind. I set out to go to the medical center around 4:20 am. Everywhere was dark but I braved up myself. I trekked a long distance before getting to the health center. I got to the center at 5: 00am. I requested to see a doctor but I was told the doctor would not be around until 9:00am. This is shocking.
I explained my condition to the nurse responding to me, but she reaffirm that until 9:00 am I could not be attended to because that is the the time doctors and lab scientist would be around. I couldn’t take emergency injection because I was an ulcer patient according to the nurse. . Now I am sitting waiting under this painful condition until the time comes when the doctor will come around. I hope I still make it till then.
My point of emphasis is that there are more doctors during the day but not so during the night. A lot of our best brains and future scholars are dying due lack of attention these matters. It should not be. With a bleeding heart I write this address because I'm going through this excruciating experience. This is a very serious situation which should worry our administrators.
I learnt that the new vice chancellor, Prof. Joseph Fuwape, is an honourable man with a listening ear. I hope the paramount issue raised in this article would not be treated as tissues of lexical labyrinth but rather gain his attention and that of all stakeholders in connection with the medical Facility in FUTA. It is my earnest prayer that I receive strength from above enough to scale me through this. It is my turn today, the son of an unpopular peasant trader. It could be anyone’s turn tomorrow or that of those we love and care so deeply about, wherever they may be and however tastefully furnished the facility they have is, to which they look up in unwavering trust.
This article is not written with a base intent to unsettle the peace in FUTA campus. It is an appeal to authorities. It should therefore be seen as a sober reminder, a humble plea for a redirection of official attention to salient but nevertheless important issue in our community.
We need not wait until we get knocked by the painfully lessons of experience before we live up to standards and best practices in all things. It is a marvelous thing that I can still type this address while writhing in pain. As I roll my eyes, I feel pain, pain in the lower waist, and legs.
We wonder when someone known to be gentle strangely goes berserk and insanely irate, getting mad at human and material resources. But we should not be too quick to blame him/her. People like that might have been stretched to the limit of their patience. However, violence should not be our last resort to registering our displeasure. There is no justification for that.
I regret to be pessimistic as whether I will make it or not. But let our dear scholars, parents who have children in schools, law makers and the researchers in the academic world see this.
