Coogaarrr. cheesy did I say that now.that was why I asked what is attention sef? If you spend all your time together however go pay bills na? Most naija guys that I know don't even want to marry a jobless girl talkless of a guy? But ambition is relative like I always say.let me give an example two doctors one is content being a GP and is home by 7pm most week nights he is not poor but might not be as loaded or as revered as the consultant neurologist who is working long hours with research scientists to formulate ground breaking surgical techniques. Sometimes sef time spent away pursuing a dream might not even translate to hard cold cash.
and this is where fulfilment comes into the equation. some men feel fulfilled working long hours, bending their heads on a research & looking for the next ground-breaking invention.

Nothing wrong with attention naa grin. Some girls do not necessarily want money, power etc some don't mind a modest lifestyle, sharing one car etc if it means they get to spend more time with their spouse.

In other words, know what you want.Dont marry or date a fiercely driven person(some women are too) and start whining about attention.apart from driven some people's line of work need it .even we the children knew that daddy goes to island club every Friday night.we could be eating dinner and next thing he has to go to Abuja for 2 days.Funny enough my hubby is direct oppodite because in a way I knew I was not like my mum.If my hubby is not at work or studying or hanging out(very rarely) he is at home and we are doing stuff together.Deep down I don't think I could have coped with that my parents lifestyle.then again we even live in a different environment.
so you would advise a woman to marry a jobless guy with no ambition or career that drives him but he's ready to give 1000% attention? cheesy grin

My dear sucess(which is relative sha) comes at a price and sometimes TIME is a currency that most very successful influential people do not have. Now I am not saying you should not make time for loved ones but in essence the quality of the time with folks like this has to take over from the quantity of time. Ask the spouses of most Fortune 500,FTSE 100 CEO's politicians etc.Dabid Cameron had to cut short a holiday to call a cobra meeting on British nationals joining ISIS imagine Samantha Cameron whining that he Is not giving her attention co she cut shirt a family holiday.Uneasy lies the head that wears the crown.

Coogar, a successful man should know how to manage his time... He should specially make out time for his loved ones, very important. ..
a successful man isn't chasing women in his late 20s. if you know how much time successful men have dedicated to their craft, you won't be saying this. there's plenty of hardwork & time involved to succeed in this life.

most women will rather have a rich and cheating husband than a broke and faithful one that showers them with attention.

why did OP say yes knowing "attention" was a major problem? Answer on a big placard pls... anyone grin
only a rëtarded male would believe such nonsense. every man must have seen or experienced the role money plays in relationships.

women aren't loyal when the money is not flowing. it's the endurance factor that varies. she's ready to dump him at the drop of a hat when his pocket dries up.

OP what do you mean by attention? As in you guys don't spend time together at all or he is very career/business focused? I am not being funny here but if a man or person is very career/business driven or has certain dreams believe me as a spouse you might have to make certain sacrifices.that is just the hard fact.my mum told me my dad left her at home two days after their wedding on a political campaign that meant she actually rarely saw him for over a week. They later went on honeymoon to 3 countries when I was about 2 years old and left me behind with my grandma angry My mum knew she was marrying someone with political ambitions right from their courting days and she prepared her mind that he might not always be there due to that ambition. Now I am not saying it was always ideal as i remember late nights, long absences but when he was there the time we spent together formed some of my best childhood memories. My mum knew what she was getting into and I can't really say he was actually not a good father or husband because of the time he spent away pursuing that dream.

My long epistle (sorry OP grin) is just pointing to one question 'can you deal with it?' If you can't it's ok just think long and hard about it because it might not get better after marriage.
attention = lounging in bed all day together, reading poems to her 6 times a day, blowing her phone with 100 calls per day. grin

Why do most guys think women value money more than anything else in a relationship? Just like guys can not survive without respect in a relationship, so women can not do without attention.
because we men are not fools!
we know the importance of finance in relationships. no romance without finance especially when dealing with the hypergamous nigerian women.

behind every successful man, there's a woman - that's because women always chase successful men. grin cheesy there's even a research out there that says women enjoy sex more important if her partner is rich/successful. grin

financially, she gets almost anything she wants from him. that's the biggest attention a woman can get. many women would kill themselves to wife this dude.

@bolded, I disagree. . Both are very important but woman/family takes precedence. who are you making the money for if not your family? and you're placing them below the money?? undecided
only unambitious men would put women over their career/money. chase the money & women would chase you. that's a fundamental law of nature.

there is no rich man who sits down at home dishing out attention unless he's 50+. young men go out there to make what they can before age starts slowing them down. money/career should take priority over any woman.

Next time don't come with your first tester role and you make 400/ day. You faked 5 years cognate experience.
so you actually expect an intelligent boy like me to carry a virgin CV into the software tech industry that is as porous as anything? no wonder you struggle to get jobs. you really think all those asians have the 8-year experience their CV says? grin cheesy grin

and yes....
that was my first job as a tester. i defended my CV to the T with verifiable references. i always had my friend on BBM whenever i ran into a brick wall & he bailed me out. within about 2 weeks, i met 3 other nigerians in my circle & the rest is history.

siddon there make boxers dey wear you.
the last dude i did phone interview for had only be in the UK for few months. he got the role (£350/day - 6 months contract). no prior knowledge, no experience, he didn't even have ISEB certificate. if you want a job, holla @ me. grin

I don't really have time to be going back and forth with you cos I'm a bit busy. But, you and I know you lied on the pay rate. How much do you expect them to pay the Solution designers, the architects, and the project manager if they pay you ordinary bug detector grin £400/day. (and It'd will be clear as a day to any experience lead tester that you were faking it).
sharrrap & stop talking like an amateur.
there are software testers that are on £500/day - different companies, different rates. you need to know how this industry works. what you see on jobserve are agent rates, they are very negotiable.

i always tell them what my last rate was in the previous job & i will not go below it. it's a take it or leave it matter. sometimes they call back, sometimes they don't. i can show you plenty of examples in my email right now of various job offers that even come with awoof £300 if i recommend an employee for them.

Abeg abeg drop your veteran status. There's no way you are rookie and you will take up lead tester position even after a creative CV. Your ass would be exposed.
how would it be exposed?
i was properly tutored by someone who was already in the job for about a week, he designed the CV for me & laid out the likely interview questions & how to defend the CV i was presenting....

I asked again professional tester mr Coogar...which area of testing did you make 400 a day? Non functional/functional --manual or automation?
manual/automated
selenium
jmeter
QTP and so on & forth.

and no, the role wasn't a lead tester....it was test analyst!

but is it ethical & moral to check the size of one's potential mother-in-law before proposing? was it really foresight for you or you got lucky?

i used to know a chic that was size 8 way back in naija in her early 20s.....then her family moved to the US via visa lottery. 3 months after arriving in america, she became size 18. grin

i am 100% certain she would have maintained her size 8 if she never traveled out of her comfort zone in lagos. what i am trying to say is - "other factors" get in the way of these things sometimes.

Sagamite:
You would have to have more than 2 years experience to make that on contract.

To make that, you would need to be making close to, or even more than, £500 per day.

Not many testers make that much, more so, not those with small experience or no leadership responsibilities.

Any company management that tried paid that to a mediocre rookie, would be roasted by the board and investors as 'moorons on a pyre'.

You can get Accenture or IBM in to provide testers for way less than £500 per day. More like £180 per day if their business development and senior consultant team do a good sales bargain. You will get the organisational experience, the robust testing methodology, the IT knowhow and the transfer of risk for far cheaper if you hired them. And this £180 would not go to the tester, only about £23,000 per year would hit their bank account (pre tax).
you don't get my drift....

the first ever testing job i got was £400/day. i had no prior experience apart from a friend who told me about it, built a CV & coached me on how to respond to interview questions. on my CV, i had 5 years experience but in reality, i had 0 experience + few youtube tutorials.

only junior testers(fresh from college) would be contented with £180/day. besides, the wages quoted is pre-tax - a contractor is self-emoloyed. he still has to hire an accountant to sort out his tax with inland revenue & stuff. it's completely possible for anyone(non-graduate) to earn up to £500/day as long as he can defend the CV he's presenting to his interviewers.

Sagamite: Another was one cretin that claimed he was making £100K per annum 2 years after graduating in the UK. When I asked what he did, he said he was a software tester. grin grin grin grin grin

I told him he was a blatant liar. No one would pay a software tester £100K with only 2 years experienced. I explained that I know for sure the CEO all the way down to the line manager would be sacked by the Board if they found out they are paying that much for the services of a graduate that has no special skills out of their annual budget. Even many CEOs and Directors in the UK managing over 300 staff would struggle to make that much annually, talkless of a graduate with 2 years experience who is a mere IT tester. And he did not even attend any of the UK's top universities.

He disappeared and went to continue drinking the garri he drinks in London while claiming some false success. grin grin grin grin grin
to be fair to whoever the cretin is, testers make around that amount per year if he's on a contract. permanent staff are paid peanuts though.

the actual number of years after graduation doesn't matter.....it's all about whatever he writes in his CV.....and his ability to defend his CV.
