Purist: I don't mean to join the coogar-elampiro argument, but pardon me if I'm mistaken -- isn't Rooney expected to have more possession, more passes, higher accuracy, and more assists than RVP since he's played mostly as an SS/AM or even CM at times? RVP is the one leading the line, who do you expect him to be assisting or passing the ball to? The opposition goalie?
elampiro has never argued with common sense.

he's beating his chest that rooney had more passing accuracy - conveniently forgetting rooney played several games in the midfield where there's no pressure.

then he highlighted the fact that rooney played in 7 different positions - a point that should have nullified rooney's supposed superior passing accuracy.

RVP is the arrow head, his main priority is to receive passes & shoot. he had more shots from open play than rooney. this is why rooney had less shots per game than RVP

i don't hate cleverley, he is one guy i still have hopes for in the team but he needs to step up his game.
off to work. i will log on later to see how elampiro responds to your subliminal barbs at his managing director rooney grin
cleverley is where i expect him to be.....
he's ticking along really well. carrick is the boss for now - one day cleverley will become the boss. there was a time carrick/fletcher were also understudying scholes. it's turn by turn.

u see as i dey take style dodge the argument?
coogar tink say i be elampiro? if him like make e type rooney a million times i no go bite cheesy
i used rooney because he has the poorest passing stat in our attack. when intricate short passes are imbibed, cleverley's skills come to light. his movement off/on the ball is the best in our team bar hernandez.......this is why his combo with anderson was beating big teams at the start of 11/12 season.

https://i.minus.com/ibjcFn0SF9Wv1g.gif

the above is the example of the kinda 1-2 ball i am talking about. we have very few players in the squad capable of returning this pass to cleverley.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by coogar: 8:21pm On Nov 12, 2013
afrodoc: except that these same players make the killer pass later in the sequence of passes. they "recirculate" the ball until THEY SEE a good opening then they make the slide rule key pass. however in tomC's case when the ball is recirculated to him he just keeps on making the same safe passes all day, its either he can't see the opening or he lacks the ability to make the pass through the opening or he lacks the confidence.
for the sake of Man Utd i hope its just a matter of confidence
exactly!!!
the barca stalwarts all have the retain possession mentality unlike our own team with mediocres like jones, valencia, rooney, etc. by the time cleverley plays 1-2 ball with rooney, the fatso doesn't return the pass to keep the ball......and the move is wasted.

sometime later during the game, rooney takes a cornerkick that is headed in by RVP & his mistakes are forgotten. rooney gets an assist & MOTM award while the players who don't take setplays are harshly criticised. when the passing game is imbibed by every player, cleverley can do this....

https://i.minus.com/ibxUawnBgYv8mx.gif

cleverley touched the ball more in this move & he provided the killer assist. question is - how many times have we played like this since this goal?

1) I wont be drawn into your Rooney issue, thats you and elampiro's nollywood movie, watch out for part 4 grin
isn't rooney the AM? even van persie makes more forward passing than rooney - SMH!!

2) if you are comparing cleverley to a geriatric scholes who was clearly past it, i agree with you i would take cleverley over scholes, redondo or ray wilkins over the last 2 seasons cheesy
except that geriatric scholes had more accuracy than the other midfielders. it says more about carrick & co.

3) the truth is we both know carrick is better than cleverley, the point is carrick should have a more proactive partner not cleverley. cleverley would be a really good squad player to have for now.
biko, no one is arguing cleverley vs carrick here. i told you already that carrick is the only midfielder better than cleverley. i will put cleverley slightly ahead of anderson only because anderson is less durable.

P.S you didnt think of different formations in those teams when u were hyping cleverley's passing. the fact remains in those clubs very cautious passers are usually paired with someone who is more willing to play more expansive football and take a few more risks passing. i have seen cleverley too many times pass up a glaring opportunity for a through pass just to feed the ball wide to a full back, killing moves in utero!
which is what football should be about.....
this is what busquets, xavi & iniesta do week in week out. they only make safe passes. if they are not certain of the pass, they go backwards & try again. the key is to retain possession instead of forcing the issue & trying a hopeless hollywood passes.

dademola: alex song was faaaaaaaar betta dan mikel.....this isnt even debatable!! Assuming they swapped clubs, arsenal wld hav been playing coca cola league 1 football....courtesy mikel!! Back to d "sideways" cleverley, even if u bring stats dt suggest he has more foward passes than ozil and iniesta combined, it doesnt change d obvious fact that HE IS VISIONLESS, ORDINARY, MEDIOCRE and AVERAGE!!!
nitrogen: 1 million likes o jare, don't mind Coogar. He has forgotten that Statistics and football are negatively correlated. Something wey we dey see with our korokoro eyes, na im one statistics from one useless source go dey decieve us, abegi, don't be surprised if statistics talk say Xavi better pass Zidane or our Cleverly better pass carrick sef wink

Abeg, Coogar, park well joor. Cleverly is just a motherfucking average and visionless player as well as a mediocre.
says the fans that argue against facts & sticks to the popular belief. you see what you want to see - however, what you see is a mirage or an illusion. cleverley passes the ball forward whether you agree or not.

afrodoc: Understanding the dynamics of the game it would be more logical to compare cleverley's stats to fellow midfielders who play in and around the same area he plays in, not comparing him to strikers and defenders and goal keepers. how many times in a game does de gea pass the ball backwards? compare apples with apples and oranges with oranges.
so the above explains why cleverley should be making more forward passes than rooney? lololololol - this is hilarious & ridiculous.

The midfielders there are Cleverley,Scholes and Carrick. Cleverley has the highest percentage of backward passes amongst the midfielders at a whopping 15%ncompared to just 8% for both Carrick and Scholes
hahaha - by the same token, cleverley also had more forward passes than scholes - an issue you would have argued against if i didn't produce the stats.

Carrick had 37% of his passes going forward compared to a paltry 23% by Cleverley.
Now this is the problem. Carrick despite his lack of pace is a pretty good screen in front of the defence, however Carrick should not be paired with a midfielder who is even less attack minded than Carrick as these your stats show.
carrick had 37% of his passes forward because of the virtue of his position. he plays slightly behind cleverley & he has fewer options behind him to pass to than cleverley. this is also the reason ferdinand & evans also have low % of backward passing.

The comparisons you make are not quite accurate as Busquets at Barca has a more attack minded Xavi as partner, Mikel had Lampard,Ramires etc, Alonso had Gerrard. The summary in my view is Cleverley is too timid offensively to be Carrick's partner.
cleverley plays in a different system......barca play 4-3-3, united play 4-2-3-1. the passing options in both systems vary slightly. there's also the small detail of the accuracy of their passing.

cleverley has more accuracy, 37% of carrick's passes going forward become ineffective with less accuracy - even though they go forward, they fail to achieve the aim intended cos of a higher inaccuracy than cleverley's.

dademola: hahaha! I think i like where this is going! If u asked; who was more creative btwn song and mikel as at dt time, wot wld ur response be?
chrisley024: His forward passes gave him wat?. Song still got more assists than him.
I guess u saw his tru pass during d wkend?
and it didn't occur to you this is one of the reasons mikel won every title in england & in europe and song won nothing for arsenal in england? should a defensive midfielder be supplying assists when his team is conceding 49 league goals in a season? biko, what's the priority??

when song retires, he would show his children his assists while mikel would roll out his league titles, his champions league title, europa cup title, FA & carling cup medals. hmmmmm & community shield too.

back to cleverley & the myth he plays only sideways & backward passes.....this is the stats in 2012/13.

https://therepublikofmancunia.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/accurate-passes.png

it's funny cleverley plays more forward passes than rooney & less backwards passes than rooney. there's a universe of difference between statistics & opinion from nkwobi beer parlour.

I had to mark out just one word out of your post, simply put, 'Cleverly is vision-less', someone that has got vision will always look ahead, someone with 'even' blurred/unclear vision will have something he is pursuing, but a vision-less individual has got nothing, Cleverly passes to the back and sideways, is that the/your definition of VISION?

low spërm count is a fault that happens in men. it can affect prolific sex maniacs & celibates. it's not caused because of sëxual activity or inactivity.

Everyone does it..in everyway they can.
People always know people who know someone who knows..
however, no investigation can stop my marriage cos i was a randy teenager with raging hormones as long as i was smart enough to avoid unwanted pregnancy or a damaging STI. it's not the same for a woman who can still be judged for her past sëxual history.

so on this note, men & women are not the same.

There is a lot we can do actually. At a personal level and at a bigger level. You should see the girls I train grin
80% of them are having sex already. siddon there. women don't tell each other the truth so don't take what your girls say as the gospel truth.

Mothers actually send their girls to me. The first thing I teach is self esteem. Some men just don't deserve some kinds of women.

When women raise the bar, men will have no choice than to change.
what has self esteem gotta do with answering nature's call? you would be surprised that it's the kids from religious homes that are more prone to teenage sëx.

celibacy fosters prostate cancer. my GP warns me every week about it. grin

Anyways, what Chilli said is not a lie. A man who has sex everyday or too frequently may not be very fertile.
hahahahaha - jokes!!!!

Sperm cells take about 75 days to mature. If he exhausts them, by going all around with all kinds of women, he'd probably not have enough at the time his wife is ovulating. His chances of getting her pregnant would be slim.
it's a continuous process - it never stops. as some get mature today, some mature tomorrow & some mature next tomorrow. the process never stops so there's no way a man can use up his spërm cells.

Couples TTc would be advised to stay off until that period so their chances are increased.
staying off period is to coincide with the woman's fertile days. a man is ready anytime of the year. biko, where are you getting these strange theorems? grin cheesy

who does these investigations & how thorough are they? i mean - if a guy is a prolific player who's managed to play safe(no babymomma & no STI), will the pre-wedding investigations clear him or stop him from getting married?

But I hate to hear that men can go ahead and do whatever and even be praised at it while women can't and would be stigmatised for it.

The point is, whatever is bad is BAD irrespective of who is doing it.
men will always go ahead & do as they please. we are tasked to make the first move in the wooing stage, we are supposed to lead in the relationship. it's imperative we have enough experience before marriage. that's the dictate of the society - unfortunately, there's nothing you can do about it. grin

deols: Read what I wrote earlier. I agree with the Op. I would be angry if a brother knows and does not tell me aomething like this.

But I disagree that a guy being promiscuous is different from a lady being that.

The lady could even be wise enough to use protection amd the guy silly enough to contact STIs that may render him infertile. In women, The risk is not as much as you make it seem.
there's no STI that does not show symptoms in men. our anatomy is simple. semën & urine are the only things permissible with us. the moment a guy sees a foreign fluid, he already knows he's in trouble.

with women, it's different.
more than half of the women out there see no STI symptoms. they can see all sort of coloured fluids in their nether region & still think it's a natural process.

enough women have given birth to blind babies cos they didn't even know they were carrying gonorrhoea for aeons. that wouldn't happen to men. so male promiscuity is not the same as female promiscuity.

pickabeau1: In that case, no problem
I think what you ladies have an issue is the reputational issues..

nah....
they have to show internet support to their fellow female. women are actually the ones that would raise the loudest alarm if they discover their baby brother is about to get married to a runs girl.

women with their mother hen attributes are more protective & they would kill before they see their brother getting married to the wrong partner.

My point remains though..I'd want to know if my relative knew.
whether he knows or not is irrelevant as far as i'm concerned. i will tell my brother everything. it's now up to him to either go ahead & marry her or make a complete u-turn.

his life is worth more to me than a doomed marriage.

that's a lie from the pits of hell...
the more a dude shägs, the better for his sëxual health & the incidence of prostrate cancer is reduced to the barest minimum. a married man that is shooting blanks must have been shooting blanks since his birth - it has nothing to do with his sëxual history.

Not sure it has the same potential impact as multiple abortions though
abortion is way worse.....

He wasnt as influencial in MF as he is today buh his impressive passing range and calmness when under pressure frm opponents, where there for all to see! There's no basis for comparism wit a cleverley dt prefers to "hide" in games by continously passing sideways and backwards, and running aimlessly like a possessed goat. It baffles me wen such "charasteristics" (and certainly not "qualities"wink) are celebrated for a midfielda playing for arguably d biggest sporting institution in d world.under normal circumstances, cleverley shud be carrick's understudy in CMF and certainly not his partner, buh considering d form and fitness issues of oda midfieldas in d side, we are kinda stuck with TC 23! On sunday, Phil jones was our best player in d 1st half! If he just adds a lil finesse to his game, he wld be a better option to d present cleverley
that was exactly what happened when carrick played alongside scholes. scholes was the one hailed to be the brainbox while the media thought carrick hides & was generally useless in our midfield. i can show you several articles condemning carrick till alonso & xavi said he was united's most intelligent player.

when cleverley grows into his role in few seasons, the perception would also change. english fans prefer the blood & thunder kinda players. you don't even have to be effective - just get your shorts dirty. kick lumps out of the opponents & run around like a headless chicken & you are a world class player in england. why do you think gareth barry played in the world cup?

it took how many seasons for carrick to win the slot in the PFA team? they are gradually realising he's more effective than your average gerrard/lampard. he's won more than them & he's the common denominator in our midfield since 2006. remove aguero's last kick of the season & drogba's offside goal and carrick would have won 7 league titles on a bounce.

players who go about their business quietly, play the safest passes, make things simple & not complicated are often forgotten. i remember jones running with the ball twice & end up losing the ball. cleverley in his place would have completed a pass & the matter is quickly forgotten.

Carrick - The King Of Control
Most successful English central midfielder is overlooked by fans and underappreciated but not by his team-mates who value his vital work

In future years, it might come to be a quiz question. In an era of repeated false dawns for the national team, who has been English football’s most decorated central midfielder? The instinctive answer, surely, would be either Frank Lampard or Steven Gerrard. Both men surpassed the landmark of 100 internationals this year and, for more than a decade, the debate has raged about how best to fit them into the England team.

It is startling, then, to think that there is someone else who, despite having 178 fewer caps than Gerrard and Lampard, has actually won two more Premier League titles and played in as many Champions League finals as his two more illustrious England team-mates put together.

Michael Carrick is a man who has been too easily overlooked throughout his career, particularly at international level, but not last night. For a match described simply as "The Decider" on the front cover of the Football Association’s programme, it was Carrick rather than Lampard or Jack Wilshere to whom Hodgson turned.

Carrick has always been something of an acquired taste. Loved by his team-mates for the way he quietly goes about his business yet mistrusted by many fans for a supposed tendency to become anonymous during the most critical moments of games.

If ever there was an opportunity to change perceptions, it was on Tuesday night.

So did he succeed? Probably not. Was he one of England’s best players?

Absolutely. In a match that was played at a frantic pace, Carrick did what he generally does. He protected his defence, he made telling interceptions and his use of the ball was excellent. Yes, there were times when a relative lack of pace meant that the match passed him by but there were still rather more moments when he quietly pinched the ball off a Polish player or started an England attack, such as when he picked out Wayne Rooney to almost create an early goal for Chris Smalling.

At the end of the first half, Opta produced statistics that underlined Carrick’s status as England’s best user of the ball. He had made 51 passes during that opening 45 minutes and found another England shirt 48 times.

His holding presence to the left of England’s midfield also allowed Leighton Baines and Gerrard to push forward more freely than if Lampard or Wilshere was in the team.

That was utterly critical in the 41st minute when Carrick’s simple side-footed ball released Baines for the wonderful cross that led to Wayne Rooney’s goal.

At Manchester United, Sir Alex Ferguson would frequently underline how easy it is to overlook what Carrick can do in preference for the more eye-catching role of a Gerrard, Lampard or Roy Keane. Yet going unnoticed does not automatically amount to being ineffective.

Carrick is not authoritative or combative midfielder in the style of Keane or a goalscorer in the image of Lampard. What he does offer, however, is something that is more subtle but often more important. It is control. It is the discipline to maintain his position on the pitch, the vision to read the game and so make that crucial interception or simple pass.

To his detractors, surely there is a good reason why Carrick was virtually ever present in a Manchester United midfield that has won five league titles and reached three Champions League finals over the past seven years?

Ferguson puts it like this: “In the modern day game, you don’t need tacklers the same way you used to. There’s no call for it. It’s about anticipation and reading the game. The refereeing is also of such a standard now that you can hardly tackle anyone, so that sort of thing isn’t the same issue as it used to be. Carrick can read the game and also play in front of the back four. If you look at the central midfielders in the Premier League, he can match up against any of them in terms of quality.”

It will be fascinating to see how Carrick might fit into England’s midfield in the future. Hodgson said this week that he would be happy starting with any combination of Gerrard, Lampard, Carrick or Wilshere in his team.

Gerrard’s status as captain, however, means that the choice is rather more realistically one from Carrick, Wilshere and Lampard. It is a nice option to have. Wilshere can be the linchpin of this England team over the next generation but, for the control and that rare ability among English players to keep possession, it is perhaps Carrick who best represents the present.
so when people say gerrard & lampard are more accomplished, simply spit in their faces. phil jones is gradually moving towards the gerrard/lampard group. blood & thunder football that is easily noticeable but ineffective.

ifyalways: So,its 2020 and I'm at a wedding reception. The groom is Dayokanu and the bride is Coogar's cute, innocent lil' sister.

I am coogars guest so I sat beside him. I couldn't make the church service though and only saw the groom at the reception. I became dizzy and couldn't believe my eyes. Dayo from Egbeda? Dayo aka "fear no skirt" ? Dude banged anything in skirt! 3 of my hood girls told me they had DC's for him at different times, I personally remember seeing him hanging out with about 6 different ladies at various times. Fortunately, I never banged him.

So,I call my friend Coogar and say, " Is that your sister's hubby or the best man?"
Coogar: Yes,that's him.The groom.
Me: Dayo?
Coogar: Yeah. You know him?
Me: ooh dear,I do. All the way back to Egbeda, our high school days to Uni. His nick then was fear no skirt , he got 4 of my GF's preggie, dated the widow of chief ABC, bla bla. . .
Coogar: Wow,I remember that nick. "Dayo the baddest guy", he chuckles. I even lost one or two chicks to him,his game was so slick. No sweats. He was just being a guy then, having fun, testing the waters. Now he's a man, changed, responsible and matured. He's good now. Relax"

Double standards. Hypocrites. Pharisees.
even you would agree a man that got 12 women pregnant is not the same as a woman that aborted 12 times. haba, men don't carry wombs so what's the comparison?

it's the world we live in. a female virgin at 25 would be applauded. a male virgin at 25 is an object of ridicule by the society. the general conception is he must be impotent to have abstained so long.

ryom: A friend is considering starting a family. He's 46. A professional, decent job but I don't think he's wealthy. Don't ask me what he's done with his life all these while! He presently is thinking of settling with a 23 year old undergraduate who does not seem to mind the age difference. I am not sure how best to advise him. I think he should get an older lady. What does the house think?
age is just a number.....as long as there's love between them, what's the biggie?

madonna is 55 and her boyfriend is 22. jennifer lopez is 43 and her boyfriend is 26.

and if there's anyone here not dating, don't worry, it's possible your other half isn't born yet.
