Crime › Re: EFCC Arrests Man With 30 ATM Cards, 8 Signed Cheques by coogar: 12:07pm On Aug 06, 2013
Akainzo: Raises a red flag, sure. But is raising a red flag a crime? Note that nowhere in the write up does it say those cards bore different names, so don't make any assumptions. The spade to be called is that EFCC shouldn't have gone to press until they've concluded investigations! Heck, I have 6 FBN cards alone in my name and another 4 from UBA, not counting my other local banks and foreign accounts, so if EFCC operative were to see me, I would have committed a crime?
if the cards bore the same name, why would he be arrested in the first place? of course - the cards couldn't have had the same name on them - thus why he got arrested!

My guy stop that sensationalism, possession of cheques in other people's names is not a crime in the UK. Attempting to cash other people's cheques by impersonation is however a crime.
tell that to the metropolitan police when you are pulled. the first thing is to go into your wallet, they ask for your name and then check if you carry any ID bearing that name. then they frisk your bank cards and check any discrepancy......if there's a difference, you would be arrested....

Hmmm, by your logic, I would be a serial fraudster considering how many ATM cards that I actually have in my possession.
all your ATM cards would have the same name on them. it's unusual but if your ID matches the name on the cards then you cannot be arrested. that couldn't have been the case with this suspect.

Let me give you a hint, I once needed to be frisked because of the iron in my shoes, when the UK customs guy saw my bulky wallet with all the cards, he was taken aback and asked to see my wallet. It was rescanned and he looked through and I merely got waived on. Not all the cards bore my name, however they all bore the same last name. I sure wasn't arrested as you'd made it seem I ought to.
please compare like for like when you argue. the cards all bore your last name - that's the key here. you would have been sorry if they didn't bear your last name plus additional 8 different cheques found in your possession. you would be drinking milk & brown bread in prison by now.

The guy might be guilty or he might not, he probably is in this instant, however what I am pointing out is possession of many ATM cards is not in itself a crime.
possession of dozen ATM cards with different names is a crime. if your name is not on the cards then they are stolen and stealing is a card. why would 20 different people hand over their bank cards to you? what explanation can you possibly provide to convince the police you aren't a fraudster?

elampiro: Rooney Shirt Printing is most popular in 20 years of Premier League

In a report appearing on the official Barclays Premier League website, it was announced that in the 20 years of Premier League football, the most popular player name printed on football shirts has been that of Wayne Rooney by a large margin. The shirts with Rooney printing started being produced in 2002 when the English forward made his debut with Everton, but their demand soared when he moved to Manchester United in the summer of 2004, and when Ruud van Nistelrooy vacated the number 10 jersey in 2007.

The data regarding shirt sales comes from Sporting iD, which has developed the technology behind the replica shirts of the Premier League since 1993. Rooney’s name came ahead of those of Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard, Chelsea striker Fernando Torres (counting also when he was at Liverpool), ex-Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo, and Chelsea midfielder Frank Lampard. The market for the Premier League shirts has been expanding year after year, with the demand for shirt printing following suit. The popularity of Wayne Rooney is showing no signs of diminishing as the player is breaking record after record to write his name in the all-time stars list of Manchester United.
http://www.football-shirts.co.uk/fans/rooney-shirt-printing-is-most-popular-in-20-years-of-premier-league_15388
i will check on this....
from what i gathered so far, rooney is the most popular in the premier league from the sales made by sporting iD. sporting iD is different from kitbag. every shirt-seller would come up with different stats on this. besides, the fact that sporting iD has been operating since 93 does not mean they have been collating stats since 93....

2010/11 was the first time rooney topped the charts in his career according to the sales made by sporting iD.

Rooney is not just the most popular shirt sale, but the most popular by a large margin since 1993, the highest in Premier League history. I have told myself not to involve in endless arguments. This shows the collation dated back to 1993. Shearer, Henry, Giggs, Cantona, Beckham,Lampard, etc all played in the period used and Rooney came on top.
so how's kitbag that started operating in 99 the same thing as sporting iD?
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by coogar: 11:21am On Aug 06, 2013
elampiro: You got it wrong. I have seen report where Cantona was having the highest sale at a time. And Cantona didn't play till 99.
i want to see this report - don't just throw conjectures in the air without backing it up. i have also seen a report where OBJ was the highest goal scorer in japanese league.

Rooney had almost 45% the United sales for a long period, so how can RVP one season sale be anywhere near that?
this is another lie - back it up and tell me when rooney had this 45% of united's total sales.

So what is the image right for Wayne Rooney? CR7 has 60%, bu we weren't even told if shirt sale was part of it. Also we read how Beckham made money for PSG in shirt sales, no one mentioned if he made a any personal cash from the sales. We can't rely on presumptions.
rooney's image rights is part of why he earns £250k per week. all these funds are estimated, worked out and spread out over 52 weeks to calculate his wages per week.

If Beckham has made over a billion pounds in Jersey sale for his clubs, I wonder how much Rooney has made for United.
david beckham was a better football brand than rooney. beckham had the looks to go with it and he's played for 2 of the biggest shirt making brands for the 2 of the biggest clubs in the world. playing for man utd and real madrid was going to guarantee that. this is why beckham is 4-5 times richer than rooney can ever be.

Clubs make more money from promotional proceeds of some players than others. It's just like a bank, some bank marketers have brought in much more deposits that generates income big enough to pay 500 workers whereas other marketers are in the negative, their deposit mobilized can't even pay them not to talk of colleagues. But everyone still earn salary from the pool. Even though the money came from the customers, the records have it at whose instance the monies were generated.
you are a village boy.....
fans pay the wages of football players - their image rights go straight into their accounts. when it was revealed united's shirt this season was coming out with a collar, man utd fans rushed to the megastore hoping to have "cantona 7" printed on the new shirts - they were disappointed as the store refused to print cantona on the shirt claiming cantona would claim the image rights if they did.

I Know what to expect next. . Go on then, Lets have that rant grin
this laboratory rëtard will not learn to keep his mouth shut. the research itself was conducted by kitbag and no one here said all the shirts bought in the UK are sold by kitbag....

elampiro: It is not about being a striker. Is Gerald a striker? Was Beckham a striker? At least I know Rooney has not served half of Giggs time. Beckam also served a long time, even strikers as Lineker and Shearer served their clubs longer time but Rooney holds the highest sale ever in UK and abroad. RVP has probably not contributed 5% of the revenue the club has got from Rooney. Rooney is paying salaries of fellow players and coaches as well as growing the club overall income.
stop talking rubbish jare....the stats are based on kitbag's sales. kitbag itself only started operating in 99. they didn't start collating stats until after the millennium, so how's linekar or shearer or beckham relevant in these stats?

if RVP hasn't contributed 5% then rooney couldn't have contributed 10%. rooney paying the salaries of which players? you are a joke. the sales rooney makes are split on percentages with the club. the rest goes into rooney's account - the process is called image rights. the fans pay the wages of players, not rooney!!!

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by coogar: 11:59pm On Aug 05, 2013
elampiro: I haven't time for long arguments. It is a fruitless exercise. However, I wasn't even talking about shirts. But in respect of shirts, Rooney's was the second highest selling behind Kagawa in the first few weeks of release of the new shirt 2013/14 season. Even now he is reported still second. This is not the first time Rooney dropped behind in shirt and rebounded, he will rebound again. Don't forget too, he is the all time highest seller, all for United. RVP has that long road to travel. When will he get there, should there be a big signing, RVP chance of growing his sales will be gone forever. So he won't even get to Rooney's record.
all-time highest seller is irrelevant - he's the longest serving united striker we have had since kitbag started collating the stats..... it's all about the present!

elampiro: Exactly what I am saying. Rooney did it for 9 years. So for how long will RVP do it?
rooney did what for 9 years? ruud & ronaldo sold more shirts than rooney when they were here.

RVP might not even be relevant by 2015. So I am not carried away by his one season football for United. In the United history book RVP is just a kid.
he won a golden boot in his debut season for man utd - he made sure rooney became a spare tyre within 5 months. RVP is superior....

And who says Rooney can't beat him this coming season?
who would buy rooney's shirt? he would be lucky to have one shirt bought in his name - he's ending up like bendtner in the coming season...

Akainzo: I am still wondering what the crime as alleged by EFCC is. Is it that he had 30 ATM cards? Is it an offence to have 30 ATM cards, or is it an offence to have 30 bank accounts?
30 ATM cards surely raise the red flags and let's be honest, what kinda businessman possesses 30 different bank cards? those cards would probably bear different names and that itself is a good reason to arrest the suspect immediately....

Is it an offence to have signed cheques in your possession?
it would be an offence if the cheques are drawn in different names and the dude in question does not bear any of the names. even in the UK, he would be arrested on the spot!

Either the level of journalism in Nigeria has gone to the dogs or the EFCC is playing to the gallery. Care must be taken to ensure that our fears and disdain for fraudsters is not used as a fulcrum for illegal detentions. No where in this piece was any crime alleged or in the process of being committed.
30 ATM cards and 8 signed cheques show the markings of a serial fraudster. if the cards were cloned, then it's even worse for him. no matter how you spin this, this guy is guilty to the hilt. call a spade a spade for once.....

How We Funded Anti-Apartheid - Jonathan
11. The role played by individual nations, including my country Nigeria, in the struggle for the emergence of a new South Africa that is non-racial, independent and democratic is already part of the special linkages between our two countries. In those dark seasons, Nigerians stood by their South African brothers and sisters, because we shared your pain and concerns. Today, we also stand shoulder to shoulder with you as brothers and sisters and as partners, working together in pursuit of mutually beneficial interests.

12. Suffice it to say that throughout the long-drawn, anti-apartheid struggle, although we were not geographically contiguous, Nigeria was, nevertheless, considered a Frontline State, by the sheer fact of our commitment to the just struggle for freedom in Southern Africa.

13. It is important to recall, that this was a cause every Nigerian was committed to, not just those in government, but the people themselves. It was for this reason the Southern African Relief Fund (SARF) was created.

14. This was funded with deductions from the salary of every Nigerian worker, irrespective of rank, both in the public and private sectors as well as donations from ordinary Nigerians in all walks of life, including students. This fund was placed at the disposal of the liberation struggle.

15. Nigeria provided scholarships for students from South Africa. Our musicians waxed albums in support of the anti-apartheid struggle, a memorable one in this respect being Sonny Okosun’s timeless piece, “Fire in Soweto”. Our poets wrote protest literature denouncing man’s inhumanity to man; whenever South Africans protested against injustice, Nigerian students also took to the streets in support and solidarity.

16. At the international level, Nigeria gave leadership at the United Nations, the Organization of African Unity, as it then was, the Commonwealth and several other fora in the fight against apartheid. For instance, we chaired the UN Special Committee Against Apartheid (UNSCAA) for most of its existence.

17. We spearheaded the boycott of the Commonwealth Games. We nationalised the assets of British Petroleum (BP) and kept away from our borders those who had dealings with the then racist minority regimes in Southern Africa, all in the course of the fight against apartheid and minority rule. Your struggle was our struggle, your pain was our pain, and today, your freedom is our freedom.
RSAMAN, as you can see - my parents deducted funds from their salaries to fight against the white minority group treating föols like you as slaves on your home soil. so the next time you open your cess-pit you call a mouth, remember nigerians provided scholarships for the students in your country to have quality education....

South Africa Praises Nigeria's Military

The South African National Defence Force (SANDF) foreign relations head has praised the Nigerian Armed forces for its strong relationship with the South African military.

Major General Daniel Mofokeng, head of SANDF Foreign Relations, said Nigeria was in the forefront in the struggle against apartheid and that the country made huge sacrifices for the liberation of South Africa from minority rule.

Nigeria supported the then Frontline States organisation, which was established to achieve democratic majority rule in South Africa. Former members included Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Mozambique, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe. According to the South African Institute of International Affairs, Namibia contributed an estimated US$61 billion towards the anti-apartheid effort between the 1980s and 1994.

Nigeria played a pivotal role in establishing the United Nations Special Committee against Apartheid in the 1960s while ordinary Nigerians contributed financially to the anti-apartheid movement, especially in reaction to the 1976 Soweto uprisings.

Mofokeng said that Nigeria also offered military training and support to assist the African National Congress. According to him, Nigeria’s gesture helped shore up relations between Abuja and Pretoria.

“I must say the relations between the two countries most especially before 1994; has been extra ordinary in the sense that Nigeria has been in the forefront in the anti-apartheid struggle. It assisted and trained our cadre, our students and military students then. So I must say the cooperation between the two has been very great indeed”.

“The Nigerian Armed Forces’ very intimidating credentials, in terms of its military professionalism, is exemplified by its role in Liberia, Sierra Leone and most recently, in Ivory Coast,” Nigeria’s Defence Adviser to South Africa, Commodore Jacob Ajani told the Voice of Nigeria
