That's why I asked you to get Goalkeeping stats per 90 to compare De Gea and Ospina for last season, and then post it here. I'm sure that would prove to you that Ospina is better than DDG

goalies are only as good as the defence before them. with moröns like evans & jones playing in front of de gea, it's not hard to see why de gea would concede more goals. you need to first look at the number of shots we concede before you can analyse the difference between de gea & ospina.

if de gea had a stable defence in front of him like courtois did, he would have conceded nothing more than 15 league goals all season.

Again, I'm not arguing who is better...I only pointed out the flaw in sirCumalot's method of comparison.

There are so many reasons why those statistics are very misleading.

Firstly, comparing both players on a per 90 metric is completely wrong, when there is such a huge gap in the number of minutes played between the two.

To test this out, run the exact same comparisons between Matic and Coquelin on a per 90 metric. Come back and testify if the story the stats suggest tell an accurate story. Or do Phil Jones and John Terry. or maybe De Gea and Ospina.

Secondly, Valencia played as a winger and central midfield for some parts if the campaign last term, Clyne was a full back. I'll let you guess who should have naturally have more take ons...and more chances created.

Manyoo is not really in a position of strength in European football right now, and you guys have had to significantly overpay to attract players of the 'right' calibre.

I mean a player like Schweinsteiger for example, is virtually guaranteed another Bundesliga title and at least a round of 16 spot in the UCL....before the league has even started! The only way to tempt that kind of player is to throw a lot of cash at him....and when he inevitably fails to perform in a manner as should befit the wage packet/transfer fee...it would be the whole Rooney/Falcao/Shaw/Di Maria argument again.

Whether or not Schweinsteiger and/or Muller have been contacted by your club is irrelevant, these players are just examples of players that fit the player profile that Manyoo are looking for....and IMO it looks like LVG maybe making the same Mistakes that Moyes made

the problem is - the majority of the players he would like to sign would be long-drawn transfers. most marquee signings always have drama attached to them & they will drag on till the last minute. i don't think he's stüpid not to see we need about 4-5 senior players.

I'm not bothered by what clubs like Liverpool are doing. It was the same gusto at which t hey signed players last year that they are doing same this year. I just hope we address the balance or lack thereof in the team, with regards to tactics and personnel.

These things have always existed. The thing is there was always adults around (mothers) keeping a keen eye on the neighbourhood children. You just couldn't come into a neighbourhood and take anybody away.
