dayokanu: What do you call when your opponent outposses you home and away by 54% thats a 8 points difference
still fine margins.

same number of shots on target - same number of corners.
the only facet of the game that bayern dominated was fouling madrid players
to upset their flow of the game.

real madrid won 2-1 on the night!
bayern did not dominate the game.
in the end, aggregate of the tie was 3-3.

BlueDiva: It's smacks of stupidity to say a team doesn't need a plan B.
The reason AVB flopped was because he was clueless; no plan B.

If Barca had resulted to long balls and shooting from outside the box they could have stood a chance.
Only a dummy keeps using the same method for a task when it isn't working.
you lack horse sense.

why would barcelona need a plan b when plan a works 95% of the time?
they are willing to accept losses like the chelsea game the other night and the inter game!

xavi said: "If you go two years without winning, everything has to change. But you change names, not identity. The philosophy can't be lost. Our fans wouldn't understand a team that sat back and played on the break. Sadly, people only look at teams through success. Now, success has validated our approach. I'm happy because, from a selfish point of view, six years ago I was extinct; footballers like me were in danger of dying out. It was all: two metres tall, powerful, in the middle, knockdowns, second balls, rebounds … but now I see Arsenal and Villarreal and they play like us"

"I like the fact that talent, technical ability, is valued above physical condition now. I'm glad that's the priority; if it wasn't, there wouldn't be the same spectacle. Football is played to win but our satisfaction is double. Other teams win and they're happy, but it's not the same. The identity is lacking. The result is an impostor in football. You can do things really, really well – last year we were better than Inter Milan – but did not win. There's something greater than the result, more lasting. A legacy. Inter won the Champions League but no one talks about them as a brilliant team."

"You watch Liverpool and Carragher wins the ball and boots it into the stands and the fans applaud. There's a roar! They would never applaud that here."

Jeel: Barcelona head coach Pep Guardiola is expected to announce he is quitting the club on Friday, according to Spanish media reports.
Guardiola is believed to have had a meeting with club president Sandro Rosell this week, during which the 41-year-old outlined his intention to resign.

The Spaniard apparently told club administrators he was mentally and physically drained after four years at Camp Nou.

It has been a difficult year for Guardiola and his side, considered by many as the greatest team of all time.

The defending champions bowed out of the Champions League semi-finals against Chelsea on Tuesday, and lost to arch rivals Real Madrid on Saturday, all but ending their La Liga title hopes.

In his first season at the club in 2008, Guardiola's team won a La Liga, Copa del Rey and Champions League treble - he's claimed 13 titles in all at the Nou Camp.

He is now expected to take a year-long break from football and it is thought he has ambitions to work in the English Premier League.

Barcelona are believed to have already identified Athletic Bilbao coach Marcelo Bielsa as his ideal successor, Goal.com understands.

The Argentine is out of contract in the summer and has the unanimous backing of the Barca board, as well as that of Guardiola, who considers Bielsa the best coach in the game today.

Indeed, it is thought that Guardiola may even be asked to attempt to persuade Bielsa to make the move.

Should the 56-year-old Bielsa reject the offer, Barcelona will then seek to appoint someone from within Guardiola's inner circle, namely assistant Tito Vilanova, former B team boss Luis Enrique, who is currently in charge of Roma, or even ex-youth team coach Oscar Garcia.

Failing that, Barca could turn to former Villarreal coach Ernesto Valverde, or a foreign alternative, such as Germany's Joachim Low.

However, the club's directors do not believe it will come to that as they are confident of landing Bielsa, their prime candidate for the position.

Ibime: I dont think you know much about football.

Do you know how many youngsters I've seen who seem to have skill?

Shebi Gael Kakuta was the most skillful player at Chelsea 2 years ago?

Everybody has skill until he is tested on the big stage.

You claimed Daniel Sturridge was the best thing since sliced bread and together with Mata, would make Torres excel. When Daniel was exposed to continuous scrutiny, we saw the obvious flaws in his decision making.

You remember how I used to like Ricardo Quaresma, until his poor decision making became more pronounced?

I know youngsters with skill when I see them. Thats why one of the only youngsters I rate extremely highly now is Ola John of FC Twente. Kai, that boy is an animal. The boy always lifts his head up when cutting in from the wing and always makes the right decision.

Shebi you remember when Samuele Della Bonna was better than Lampard? (Old school Chelsea fans would remember). At the end of the day, Lampard always had more skill than Della Bonna.

Skill is something you cant see. Ariel Ortega could dribble better than Maradona but he lacked the composure to make the difference. Thats the kind of skill our youngsters have - it is not decisive skill!!!

How many of those boys could hold possession like Mikel, chest the ball from the air like Drogba, swivel and score. How many of those boys could pick out assists in the blink of an eye like Lampard. Those boys may look good cos they denge on the ball but none of em can pick the three passes Lamps picked in the semi against Barca - the two passes to Ramires and the one to Kalou where Kalou just stopped running. All Chelsea have always needed is some pace on the wing. Those are the only skills we are missing in the team.

You give Guardiola them boys and he'll take em to relegation.
that's what to look for in young players. the ones who stare at the ball all the time are the runts.
the ones who can hold possession, look up and find a team-mate with a pass are the precocious talents.

like xavi said: Education is the key. Players have had 10 or 12 years here. When you arrive at Barça the first thing they teach you is: think. Think, think, think. Quickly. Lift your head up, move, see, think. Look before you get the ball.

If you're getting this pass, look to see if that guy is free. Pum. First time. Look at [Sergio] Busquets – the best midfielder there is playing one-touch. He doesn't need more. He controls, looks and passes in one touch.

Some need two or three and, given how fast the game is, that's too slow. Alves, one touch. Iniesta, one touch. Messi, one touch. Piqué, one touch. Busi [Busquets], me … seven or eight players with one touch. Fast. In fact, [the youth coach] Charly [Rexach] always used to say: a mig toc. Half a touch!

PhysicsQED: Interesting.

Driving under the influence is a big deal in the U.S. in some places what with drunk driving or "drugged driving" causing the deaths of young people each year. Making racial slurs is just seen as socially objectionable in most places. Not something a person can be arrested for.
this is why i have always maintained america is a 3rd world country - forget the hype.
in the uk, a member of the public can call the cops that you were racially insulted - and the offender would be arrested n charged to court.
it is that serious!

I agree that he is responsible for his own actions since he has a conscience like all other mentally fit people, but I guess my point is about the significance of a criminal record to one's reputation and opportunities. It seems like overkill to me, but I could be wrong. Maybe a significant fine or mandatory community service would be more appropriate if the government feels the law must intervene.
community service is also a conviction here!

Your surprise kind of baffles me. It seems like a completely legitimate possibility. In the U.S. they have the Aryan Brotherhood prison gang and people are only arrested for violent race/hate crimes in the U.S., not for statements.
nothing surprises me about america. i am sure they have worse organizations than aryan brotherhood in prisons.
the truth is, nothing like such happens here. racism is a big issue. the biggest offence anyone can commit.
an offender becomes an enemy of the state. even after serving time, he would need police protection for the rest of his life.

Thanks for the answers. I was just curious about how well the system was really working.
working perfectly!

moremi2008: No, you are NOT thinking outside the box. You are just a desperate woman with little self-esteem. I am happy for you that your marriage finally worked out well (but you are only a few years into the marriage anyway and it made sense for you to stay and fight for it). It makes no sense to advice this woman that has tried her best to make it work for a decade to keep fighting.

This is why all the women in my life MUST go to school and make something of themselves. I just can't imagine my oldest sister, a U.S. doctor, being treated this way in her husband's house and she just stays there in silent desperation. It's only women with nothing to contribute to society besides a womb that hang on desperately to failed marriages. If you have something to offer the world and can stand on your own two feet, there's no reason for a man to treat you like garbage for the rest of your life. Aunty Aigboma, please take your experience as an exception to the rule; stop sentencing your fellow women to a lifetime of misery.
moremi2008, this is a grey area - it's not written in black n white.
your oldest sister could be a professor - if she wanders into the naija terrain, men would treat her the same way.
if she decides to stay by herself with the kids, it's a social stigma.
even if she doesn't care about what the society thinks, she's human after all - loneliness, desolation, etc.
she would start picking up men in bars, pubs, etc to warm her bed - naija society abhors such.

Marcelo 'El Loco' Bielsa

https://static.guim.co.uk/sys-images/Football/Clubs/Club_Home/2012/3/7/1331145245962/Marcelo-Bielsa-Athletic-B-007.jpg

The exchange was eloquent, a treatise on image and reality, the two faces of Marcelo Bielsa. It was played out at Estadio el Madrigal where Villarreal had just drawn 2-2 with Athletic Bilbao. Athletic's coach was addressing the media in his normal way – voice low, gaze lower – when he was asked about his odd touchline behaviour. Was it coincidence that after every Villarreal attack, he got up from his haunches and paced to the other side of his technical area, taking exactly 13 steps?

Bielsa did not look at his questioner. He never does. Staring down, he spoke in his usual slow monotone. "What is coincidence," he replied, "is that when there's such a nice game going on, someone spends time counting my paces."

They call the Argentinian El Loco and maybe they look too hard for madness. The way Athletic are playing, watching him not his team is absurd, yet it is hard not to be drawn to him. Bielsa is unusual, there is something addictive about his actions. Besides, person and professional are inseparable. The question is: is he really as mad as he is portrayed? "No," says the forward Iker Muniaín. "He is madder."

Bielsa arrived last summer and Athletic's players still have not completely worked him out. They have never seen anything like him and do not think they ever will. He is disconcerting, praising awful performances and bemoaning brilliant ones. Above all, he is intense. Compulsive. Obsessive. Mad. "He lives for football," the striker Fernando Llorente says. There are days, adds teh midfielder Javi Martínez, when he does not leave the Lezama training ground until the small hours. It is, he says, "insane".

When he arrived, Bielsa had watched their 38 league games last season, writing all the details on colour-coded spreadsheets. And that really is all the details – he says: "There are 36 different forms of communicating through a pass." He watches thousands of games, building a footballing taxonomy, like some kind of botanist. If a player does something new, he labels and stores it, learning from it. Teaching from it, too. Few are so didactic: he once drew on his shoes to show players exactly which part of their foot to use, wearing them for days after. Video sessions can last five hours and players joke that they do not dare make a mistake lest the green laser rest upon them and Bielsa demand a convincing explanation.

Training is intense, even when Bielsa takes children from the crowd and gets them to deliver instructions for him. Stopwatch in hand, he preaches high pressure, constantly interrupting and demonstrating. Gangs of players sprint from pole to pole, hunting as a coordinated pack, their errors revealed to them on a laptop. There is an almost childish wonder about Pep Guardiola's description of Athletic: "They all run up … and they all run down again. Up, down, up, down, up, down. They're fascinating."

All endeavour, no aesthetics? No. Bielsa, a former Argentina and Chile manager, has altered Athletic's historic identity as the most "English" of teams, teaching them in the words of one insider "not to be afraid of the ball any more". They have scored almost twice as many headers as any other team in Spain but where the ball used to be thumped into the area at the first opportunity, it is now being worked up the pitch. Only Madrid and Barcelona have completed more passes or scored more goals. "The style is totally different," says the defender Andoni Iraola; Llorente does the "opposite" of what he did before.

Synchronisation is fundamental, attacks automatic, movement mechanised, the pitch partitioned with tape, moves constructed and deconstructed piece by piece, passes made instantly. The circulation is constant. One exercise involves eight squares: two players cannot occupy the same space; if a team-mate enters your square, you vacate it. Crossing and shooting exercises, following specific, interchanging "passageways", do not end with the shot but with players sprinting back into their starting positions. Defence and attack are not separate.

"A man with new ideas is mad until he succeeds," Bielsa notes. Athletic did not win in their first five games as they struggled to assimilate new ideas; since then, they have lost only three of 21 and are one point from the Champions League places, their best finish for 13 years on the cards.

They are in the Copa del Rey final, seeking a first trophy in 28 years, and supporters are enjoying their football like never before. The sparkle in the eye of players, the sheer number of fans travelling to England – Old Trafford's highest ever away contingent – reveals what facing Manchester United means.

A few weeks ago, Bielsa was stopped by a group of kids who asked him to sign their sticker album. He said no, he had a better idea. He took the album off them and told them to meet him the following day, same place, same time. When he turned up 24 hours later, the entire team had signed the album. Not just any team: El Loco's team, the most exciting Athletic have had in three decades.

Ok, I get what you guys are saying, but I have some questions.

1. Does the arrest and jail time for racially aggravated public disorder stay on one's record? That is, does one then have a criminal record which one would have to disclose to an employer in the future or which might resurface as an issue if one runs for a political position in the future?
big fat criminal record! one has to disclose minor offences like driving under the influence let
alone a serious offence like making racial slurs.

Also, consider a man who was raised from the age of 4 until the age of 18 by his affable and avuncular but hardcore racist male relative and his relative's equally racist but charming wife following the tragic and mysterious demise of his artistic and fashionable parents somewhere near the Himalayas. Then he attends a university composed, in terms of faculty and students, of virtually one ethnicity or race, which is the same as his own and eventually joins the local chapter of an extreme far right political party and the local chapter of a national racist organization, with the urging and support of the family members who raised him. After attending a few meetings or rallies, he begins distributing flyers calling for the immediate deportation of certain religious minorities, the profiling of certain racial minorities, limitations on where certain racial minorities can go and of what political or corporate positions they can hold, and also calling several groups of racial and religious minorities "worthless kunts." After being arrested and serving a month or two, he goes back into society as racist as he was before.
in a nutshell, a boy who was raised by serial killer parents has the excuse to be a mass murderer?
allowing racists to hurl abuses freely would put a mockery on the 2nd world war the brits fought with their blood n sweats.
this is why it's important for parents to teach their wards and guide their utterances.

However, 15 years later, he reads some book or watches some movie stressing the interconnectedness and brotherhood of all peoples, has an awakening or enlightenment and starts to see all human beings as his brothers and sisters and disavows his former beliefs. He becomes a Quaker, lives in a multi-ethnic hipster commune for a short while, starts donating money to poor or sick people in countries where the people are of a different race than his own, and overall genuinely changes his ways.
if he changes his ways 15 yrs later then kudos to him.
it means his prison reform is now 100% complete.

Upon finally unraveling the mystery behind the circumstances of his parents' death, he is suddenly motivated to become a politician so that he can champion the passage of stronger and stricter safety requirements for certain vehicles and aircraft, but his former arrest and prison record become an issue for him and he is unable to withstand the media attack on his past. He loses the election and decides to leave politics alone. He then tries to get a job at certain companies to try to change things from within. However, his potential future employers see his criminal record and decide not to hire him.

Wouldn't this guy be getting screwed over by the system?
he should hold himself responsible for screwing up his own life.

2. Have people in Britain considered the possibility that the humiliation of the arrest, and the depression and/or anger that might follow from the prison time served, might push a minor racist over the edge and turn them into a full blown neo-nazi, and make them hardened racists that might more seriously contemplate violent action, rather than make them repent or reform? I mean, is this a talking point, or something that has been seriously debated publicly or in government before or after those racially aggravated public disorder laws were passed?
hardened racists in prison? that is if he survives the beatings he would get from the
yardies while in prison if they should get a wind of what brought him there.

3. Has anyone ever tried to resist the arrest physically or gotten into a standoff with the police?
nope. resisting an arrest is a huge offence as well.

4. Has anyone ever hired a lawyer to fight the charges and jail time?
not feasible.
even the animals in the uk know you cannot make a racial comment anywhere in europe.

5. Has anyone ever tried to claim that their twitter account was hacked or claim that they were being impersonated by a rival/enemy when they made racially provocative statements?
this is why you have ip addresses.
even if your twitter account was hacked, did the hacker use your ip address to make such
racial provocative comments?

But he is a class act, this guy. He showed steel nerves as a player, the French version of the Kaiser. Interestingly, he played for both United and Barcelona as a player, but didn't seem to enjoy himself much at both clubs. Fergie did say once that he always knew Blanc was going to be a coach, as he spent much of his time at United studying the training methods, the coaching styles and regimen.

There is also a scary rumour about Villas-Boas. God forbid. Not that he's a bad coach, but I don't want us to be his rebound club. He needs to find himself all over again, but not with Barca.
laurent blanc at old trafford? hell no.

your husband must be a clown. just 16 months and he's already making ultimatums?
for all you know, he could be the one with the low sp[i]e[/i]rm count. has he gone for any test?

chaircover: One year and 4 months of marriage and a husband is threatening divorce because his wife is not pregnant. A man who 16 months ago opened his mouth in front of a whole heap of witnesses and said " for better for worse, In sickness and in health"

PhysicsQED: Hmmm.

I'm all for anti-racism, but this seems like going too far in pursuit of an ideal. Somehow I just have difficulty accepting the legitimacy of arresting people for making racist statements or promoting hatred. Well, to each his own. It's their country after all.
it can fuel inter-community violence.

Gbawe: Another display of the disconnection with reality exhibited regularly by lunatics. Mate, the only folks you will be 'meeting' for a long time are the men in white coats who routinely come and give you your tablets and injections - and of course fellow "conscious" ghost brothers and sisters wink wink.
fixed!
Family › Re: I Want A Divorce. Need A Lawyer by coogar: 3:55pm On Apr 26, 2012
kcheerful: i av been married for 10 years with 3 lovely kids. the problem is my husband is an unrepentent adulterer and liar.
its been an issue in all our years of marriaige. the problem is he has always been like that before we got married but i thot it was just youthful exhuberance and marraige will change him
but i was wrong. i av begged him, quarrelled with him, prayed and done everything i can imagine. reported to his family my family but he seem to be cursed.
he runs after young girls of 21 to 23 at 43 years old.
i am tired.. cant take it any more.
when i told him i want to leave he said i am free that to get a wife is not difficult that there are many willing ladies pout there.
that he will not ask me to leave but if i say i want to go he will not force me to stay either.
so i want to leave.
i need a lawyer who will advise me on how to go about the divorce proceedings.
his lies are runnining me cracy
his unfaithfulness is making me sick
some of ds girls send curses an threats to my phone and when i tell him he is not bothered and tells me to go and sort it out myself.
in short i av made up my mind to leave
if u are a lawyer or knows anyone that is competent with divorce proceedings should drop her phone number or mail me on kofocheerful@yahoo.co.uk.
thank u
this marriage business is getting scarier by the day.
how many couples are actually happy in marriage? for feck's sake - did you people pick each other on the streets?
are men getting increasingly selfish? are women getting increasingly impatient?

anyone aspiring to marry should stop coming to this section of nairaland.
i think the woes clearly outweigh the smiles.
the people happy in their marriages should post more and eliminate these doom n gloom stories.

pazienza: Barca fans are just delusional,so busquet, sanchez, mascherano, pique, pedro are now exceptional players? Can you really say that these guys are the best in the positions they play in europe right now?

I know its hard for you guys to take, but the truth is that barca will never be that one team the whole world fears again, age has finally caught up with the engine of the team,Xavi, fabregas is still a long way from being the next xavi, and am sure that pep knows that this team can only go lower, the guy is going to bolt before the house clashes on him.
this is the type of nonsense people write that makes outsiders think nigerians are brainless.

make no mistakes about it, barcelona are still the best club in europe. in the last five seasons,
this is barca's record in the champions league:

2007/08 - semi-final
2008/09 - winners
2009/10 - semi-final
2010/11 - winners
2011/12 - semi-final

only a lunatic would write them off now, they would probably win it again next season. they still
have xavi, busquets, messi, pique, pedro. david villa would be back in the fray so are pedro and abidal.

RuuDie: None! That's why he scored. . . . but when the heat was cranked up ~ what happened!!!?
real madrid were trailing 2-1 on aggregate. ronaldo's pen was 5 mins into the game.
and he was not under any pressure? in european semis?

this was a player that provided the assist in munich, scored a winner against barcelona @ camp nou.
scored a brace last night to draw his team level on aggregate and now he's pressured?

what has messi done in the last 8 days?
answers on a post card, please!!!
