Nebeuwa: Your reply to me I must say was quite amusing. Some of the words you have used, I have not seen since I took the SAT many years ago. Do you really believe I have ulterior motives my friend? Please give me some credit, I am not callous. Yes, I do admit that I have used comparisons, but all I am trying to say that the Nigerian communities in the US and the UK are not very different, therefore, it must be other reasons why young Nigerians in the UK are joining gangs. And I believe that lies with the societal problems found in the UK, such as class, race, education etc. Please stop ignoring the elephant in the room.
you sir are too simple-minded to cope in a brilliant discourse such as this.
sadly, you brought it up and you have littered the whole place with conjectures.
oh dear, britain is way smaller than america and crime stories get more coverage. the british media
is one of the best in the world so they tend to cover everything. i don't read about young nigerians
in nigeria joining gangs too. should i then assume it doesn't exist there?

there are gangs everywhere. the attention given to it by the respective news media is the difference here.
fuckin hell, there are more black men in jail than in college in america
and this dude is saying the blacks in the uk have more societal problems?
1 out of 3 black males in america is expected to go to jail at one point in his life.

Gbawe: You clearly don't know what you are talking about and your amiable language does nothing to hide a shallow desire to gain validation through feeling superior to others. You say this should not be "a schlong measuring contest" and then you , in the same post, go on to say this "but we in the U.S. have more opportunities". Come on dude it is not Rocket science. It is obvious your thread is a mischievous attempt at getting folks to massage an ego obsessed with vacuously looking down on others.
the dude is a joker. blacks don't have any opportunities in america.
if we are talking about black males, then this even more laughable.
they either end up dead on the streets or locked up in the penn!
compare the % of black population in america to the % of the black population

Katsumoto: That the government outlawed caning does not mean that a parent should now be resigned to fate. There are parents out there who are willing to risk an invitation from social services and the police to ensure that their kids turn out alright. The government wont live in your house. Parents must take responsibility. Besides, a parent is older than a child and should know how to motivate and discipline his/her kids.
haha -
so what do you expect these parents to do?
they must work 9 to 5 to provide for these kids. they come back home tired n spent!
now they have to monitor these unruly kids who are fearless. they know if the parents poke their
nose too much, he can call social services and lie the parents sexually abuse him.

by the time they know he's fibbing, they would have spent the better part of 2 yrs in jail.
parents are handcuffed to raise their kids the proper way here. the kids are so difficult to control.
sometimes they even pretend. saints at home, devil incarnates in school. teachers can't touch them,
parents can't touch them.

Katsumoto: Isn't it safer to know your enemy than your enemy who is pretending to like you but killing you silently?

How do you ignore racism in the UK?
by doing better than your white counterpart!! it's so simple.
if you put in the shift, you get appreciated. if you rest your laurels and wait for british manna,
then you have yourself to blame.

i have never been racially abused in britain in my entire life. i have taken more
abuses in nigeria than anywhere i have been. so do you really expect me to take racial
issues serious?
Politics › Re: The Crime Wave Impacting British Of Nigerian Descent by coogar: 8:46pm On Apr 22, 2012
Dont blame the kids - Blame their parents.

Many cant afford to send their children back to naija periodically for holidays.

Many parents that can afford to do so - dont for one flimsy excuse or another (eg fear of kidnappers)

So we now have a generation of children of Nigerian origin that do not know their culture.

Many join gangs - as a supplement to being part of a tribe because they have lost their culture.

A few clever parents make the sacrifice and send their children back after a period to get some culture back home. Their children tend to turn out better.

If you ask many of these children where they are from they will say 'Peckham or Brixton' rather than Nigeria.

If you ask them their tribe they are more likely to say 'The SW2 Massive' rather than Yoruba, Igbo or Hausa.
another complete trumpery.
how can you blame the parents? it's the government and their idiotic laws concerning the child is the difference.
caning has been prohibited in british schools for eons. parents can't "discipline" their kids otherwise they get thrown in jail.
let's just say the government has given all the powers to the kids and they can behave anyhow they want to.
i don't blame the parents - i blame the government!

Nebeuwa: Is that so? I feel this is about to become a schlong measuring contest.

The U.S. is more immigrant friendly than any other nation in the world. There is no comparison. A nation that was founded by immigrants, compared to a nation that is not. Sorry, but we in the U.S. have more opportunities. Heck, I would go as far as say that Nigerians in Canada have more opportunities to succeed than those in the UK.
contrary to what you think, britain is one of the most multi-cultural country you can think of.
every race is accepted. it's no biggie. we don't have hilly-billy rednecks or white supremacists nonsense
you guys deal with over there. yes, racism still exists but it's so negligible, it can be ignored.

the usa is not immigrant friendly than the united kingdom, that is farcical!
canada have more opportunities for immigrants? this is becoming a joke now.
i am sure afghanistan and somalia have more opportunities too.

Nebeuwa: Gbawe -

You asked me if I have ever been to the UK? The answer is yes, I spent a summer in the UK a few years ago staying with family members. And I've seen firsthand the "gangsta culture" that is pervasive amongst black youth in the UK. I was quite taken aback by it, because these black youth in the UK try to imitate the hip hop culture that is present in the United States, which I found amusing.

England is smaller than the United States, but I believe there are more Nigerians living in the UK than there are in the US. I could be wrong though.

That being said, you cannot deny the fact that many British of Nigerian descent are finding themselves in the news committing heinous acts. Was it not a couple of days ago that three Nigerian youth killed a young man in cold blood in the UK? I hate to say this, but stop living in lalala land and wake up and smell the coffee, or tea if you like. Something needs to be done about this wave of criminality that is not only impacting Nigerian youth in the UK, but black youth in general in that country.

This is not about competition between Nigerians in the UK and Nigerians in the US, because there is no competition. We in the US have more opportunities to succeed than those in the UK. Affirmative Action is one example.
that's complete bull.
the black youths in the uk have more opportunities to succeed than those in the usa.
what are you talking about? the opportunities of a british born black guy is limitless(if he takes advantage of it).
he has about 20 countries in europe he can walk into and work without any hassles.

debosky: Let me get this right - you're angry because women are told to leave violent, degrading and depraved marriages? Would you prefer they remain in abusive relationships just to bear the title of Mrs so and so?

Let's even accept that the people giving advice are in terrible abusive marriages - does that change the truth that women should get out of abusive relationships? ?

It's like saying a drug addict telling others to avoid drugs should not be listened to simply because the person giving the advice is still addicted to drugs.

Your position beggars belief - maybe it's the pain of divorce talking, but it makes no sense.

6 goals scored in the 2nd half(30 secs celebration per goal)
4 subs(30 secs per sub).
i have not even added stoppages via injuries n time wasting.
it should have been 8 mins.

chamotex: Total madness.
At 4-2, Fergie should have taken Welbeck off for an extra midfielder and make it 5 in midfield.
Everton should be given some credit too. At OT with 2 goals down, most teams would have given up but they kept on pressing.

I can't wait for next Monday now.
scholes should have been taken off at 4-2. he offered nothing defensively after then!

debby999: Dear married women and men,pls I need your advice on this issue. I just had a baby boy and still on recovery, my sister inlaw came and Since then my peaceful home has turn to war zone. As am writting this I feel like runing away with my little boy. This lady has never talked to me since she came into the house.she is type that does my "brother's house I don't send anybody".Big war started the day I finished cooking and was about dishing food this lady went to pot and started taking her own. After she finished the eating, I called her and explain to her as I should to my younger ones, that it was not right for her to take the food I just finished cooking without letting me knw. Most times they will take all the meat in the food. The next day my husband called me that her siSter reported me to him. So I told him and he to said it was right. I didn't knw they have tabled the matter with their other sisters and all of them called me and saying I must allow their sis. To go the pot anything anytime she wants which I refused, she was just calling me names. I was suprised when she said my husband supported that the lady should be allowed. My husband came in I told him all that happened,he couldn't stand on his ground to defened his wife infront of his sisters. I felt unprotected. The last one that happened that made me write this was the day my husband brought up dat issue again, bcose he noticed his sister has not been eaten the food in the house. He said I have to treat his sisters with care and piortity and if I don't treat them dat way, bcose a always insist on the right thing, dat anything I see I should take.I told him since you cannot give me protection I have to let my parents knw about incase anything happens to me.called my parents to let them. My baby started crying I bathed him and gave him the baby so I can prepare his food. On bringing the food to feed him,my husband pushed me out, took the food frm me and gave his sister to feed him. Carried me up and threw me on the bed, my hand hit the wardrobe, I was carrying. I dressed up to get a recharge card to let my people knw, he carried me up again and threw me on thE bed. I have to sneaked out late at night when he was sleeping. I called them and I was scared to go back again, I remebered my baby I had to go back. When I got back he has gone out to look for me, I opend my room to sleep, I found his sisters sleeping on my bed, I left them and slept on the couch. I asked the little girl he said my husband told them to sleep there. Am no longer feel protected with him. Since he can humulaite his wife in the presence of his sisters. Waiting for advice. Sorry for the errors, typed it in hurry so I can attend to my baby. ThAnks all.
what kind of sister even turns herself into a glutton and eats meat like a lioness?

Mikel is a failed project.
mikel is the best defensive midfielder in this league bar carrick!
he understands positional discipline. he reacts to danger quicker than most defensive midfielders in the league.
the statistics back him as a gem. i dunno why people don't understand what mikel does.

Ibime: If you weren't an obdurate fool, you would know you were typing rubbish.
AVB wanted to play tiki-taka with Ramires as the main fulcrum of his midfield. Coogar, you need deliverance!
He would be better off playing tiki-taka with Reo-Coker as his signature midfielder!
for goodness' sake, stop talking out of your arse.
i did not say avb wanted to play tiki-take. i said he wanted attacking football with flair.
ramirez is the best candidate in the dross chelsea fc call midfielders.

Do you think Porto played tiki-taka or did they play swift footie? The only decent passer of a footballer they had in midfield was their DM Joao Moutinho (same thing we have in Mikel and Oriol Romeu). The other two midfielders (Alvaro Perreira and Guarin) are swift fast pressers of the ball like Ramires who are not noted for any tiki-taka. You need deliverance!
he is making his own argument again. where in my post did i say villas-boas played tiki-taka.
or any attacking football with flair = tiki taka? ibime, use your brains now.
before you know it now, you would start peddling this info about that i said porto played tiki taka under villas boas.

If you werent an obdurate troglodyte, you would know that in Ancelotti's first season, Chelsea were tiki-taka Kings with these same players and scored 107 goals with it. You would know that Chelsea dominate possession against almost every team with Ancelotti and Scolari, yet possession is not 9/10ths of the law. We have seen games with Scolari where Chelsea control 75% possession but teams just park the bus and hit on the counterattack like they do to Swansea. Thats what happens when you dominate possession but Shekpe keeper (for Torres, read Danny Graham) and your wingers (for Kalou and Malouda, read Sinclair and Dyer) do not convert possession into goals. Chelsea midfielders have never had any problem dominating possession.
whoever said possession is the almighty formular in football - you love making your arguments.
keeping possession is good but you have to do something with it while you have it. a good example, barcelona last night.
however, not having possession at all won't get you far in the league. you might get away with it in few games but the league
is a 38-game marathon. so use your head when debating with me, you inscrutable arselicker.

A fool like you might have accused Fabregas of being unable to play possession footie just because Arsenal finish fourth very season.
even when statistics say arsenal hug possession in every game? hell no!
i am not as daft as you are lying to us this current chelsea bunch have the highest possession stat in the league.

Possession is not 9/10ths of the law. As of the time AVB left, Chelsea were 3rd best team in possession yet flopping just like Arsenal.
irrelevant.
what is relevant is chelsea don't have the players who could adapt to attacking football with flair.
too many mechanical footballers in the team. how can chelsea be 6th on the table? unthinkable!!
