POTUT:lagos rakes in the highest PAYE in nigeria and they are also the most populated(always remember the population in your assessment). it's the single most important factor in lagos as the amenities and resources cannot cope with the 15 million population. the number of heads in lagos alone is more than the population of 3 west african countries put together. if you want improvement in the basic amenities - taxes have to be introduced. back to the PAYE issue you mentioned. i don't see how the government can provide the amenities you so crave when the workers fleece the government with "ghost workers". in my opinion, it's the government paying taxes to these unscrupulous people who milk the government dry. who are the people creating ghost workers? every year, the government finds out there thousands of ghost workers collecting salaries for x number of years. do you know the implication of that? There has never been a plan to reduce the number of toll plazas. Where are you conjuring that from? You are clearly not being real.between lagos and ibadan back in the days, there were 3 toll plazas. later it was reduced to 2. is that reduction or increase? How is this spastic? What was the purpose of repaving 2 lanes and adding a third? Was it not to ease congestion? So why do you think some citizens wouldn't want to avoid congestion by getting on the tolled lane?they wouldn't want to avoid the congestion now because they would pay for it. nigerians don't like paying any extra especially when they know there's an alternative route free of charge. it won't worth their while to pay. besides what happens on the day there's no congestion on the repaved 2 lanes? the tolled lane then becomes useless, won't it? then the purpose of setting a toll plaza would have been defeated. can you now see how spastic the idea is? So anything government asks us to do is right and we must do it? Even when it can't stand reason?you have not been doing it for 51 good years - see how the rebellion has turned nigeria to abu dhabi nigeria: the best country to live on the whole planet. ![]() Are you really in control of yourself? Or your runaway asylum mentality is?irrelevant questions to the topic of discussion. you have a duty to be responsible and forge a better future for the coming generation. this is your chance to contribute your quota otherwise posterity would judge you. you are where you are presently because the previous generation did nothing. don't follow suit! |
nateevs:i guess we should wait but juan mata is setting the league ablaze. this is also mata's debut season whilst silva struggled in his first season at city. i would wait till chelsea visit city - if mata obliterates city's midfield again then it would no longer be a myth. . . .it would be a fact! |
do you get 3 toll gates within a space of 20 kilometre abroad on a popular district ?
i don't. . . . .but at the same time every working citizen pays taxes. no ghost worker scheme to short-change the government. on top of that, motorists pay road-tax and they sometimes pay @ toll-plazas if they use their roads. Why should lagos motorist pay tax when they are already taxed at work ? You care to answerthe tax you pay at work is quite different from road tax. you pay road tax for using good roads devoid of pot-holes, poor visibility, hoodlums and lighting. no more death-traps. less visits to your mechanic. reduced crime rate on our roads proper lighting for good visibility at nights proper maintenance of that road by lcc. less traffic &less time of travel. what of the state generating more money from toll gates at the broader of the state rather than in the state ?at the border, you mean? of what good is that one? the lagos toll-gate was eventually removed after it failed to serve it's purpose. lekki/eti-osa environs represent the elite in lagos. it's probably the most congested strip in the whole of west africa. let it serve as the 1st experiment, if it works there then toll plazas would spread across the state. |
nateevs:but skysports did not say the number of minutes it took each player to cop the chances/assists. mata - 13 appearances, 953 mins silva - 15 appearances, 1170 mins. |
POTUT:the facts mean shyte to me as far as i am concerned. one of the reasons nigeria is so shyte is the irresponsibility of the citizens. i am used to getting taxed and enjoying the benefits on the roads, electricity, hospitals and other basic amenities. i see no reason why the same methods cannot apply back home.
all these points are barking without biting. your state government has asked you to pay. pay up or shut up. lagos motorists don't pay road-tax, do they? and you are complaining? Now, where in the world is a 20 kilometer stretch tolled 3 times?toll the new lane? who would use a tolled lane when there's a free lane? what a spastic idea!!! ![]() Please consider these sincerely. I support the notion of tolling in a private-public partnership if this will only involve one toll plaza, but not 3 over a 20 kilometer stretch.they have to start somewhere. . . . . . . in no time, 3 toll plazas would reduce to 2 and eventually, 2 would reduce to one. it's for the greater good. endure the pain now so your children would enjoy the benefits later. |
nateevs:ibime would come up with his long-winded tales by moonlight that villas-boas did what he had said 3 weeks ago about chelsea. chelsea's midfield coped very well with the array of stars man city lined-up and they did so without fat frank who covers 400km per game. i think we can simply lay it to rest now that mata is a better player than silva. or is my assessment premature? |
coded guy:i hope you know he had fletcher and gibson on the bench? those are natural midfielders. why play a team with no natural midfielder? giggs is not a midfielder. park is not - neither is jones. fergie's selection wasn't the best but let's assume gibson/fletcher are not match-fit for argument's sake. the match that got me hyper was the old trafford game against benfica - when he rested hernandez and rooney.
2 points. Over to you SAF.
2 points gap created by a spastic referee.without demba ba's farcical penalty, city and united would have been tied on the same number of points. i expect arsenal fans to send massive emails to skysports so that they can start talking about yaya toure kicking juan mata and slapping him. hopefully, toure can cop 3-match ban for an unsporting behaviour. arsenal would breathe easier without toure this weekend. |
nateevs:portugese kevin keegan? ibime is a tool. the work ramirez put in there today is beyond lampard even in lampard's prime. what a work-horse and he's bound to improve at 23. lampard came on - scored a penalty, did nothing afterwards and won the man of the match?? i saw him and geoff shreeves but i am not sure he got the champagne - did he? |
Eko Ile:that bushman's mentality has to change. a lot of nigerians need to go back to school and learn that state governments are not magicians. the money they spend are taxed from the people. in a sane world, the rich even get taxed the more to cater for the poor. The way I see it, the Lgs should be taxing their own locals too raise money for local schools, roads, clinics and other services while the state tax everybody for state roads, universities , bridges and other state projects.exactly! a situation where chief okoro owns 20 jeeps and he would not bother about the several pot-holes on his street is irresponsible. they should introduce road tax in that part of lagos. owners of suvs should pay more. We should also have funds created with taxes of maybe 1 or 2 kobo on everything we buy, maybe even on petrol like they do in the US and other countries. They build and support their highways with taxes from petrol.absolutely! this is why i think fashola is too nice. in his shoes, there would be a public purse motorists would be taxed on petrol. i would put cameras on the some major roads on the island to hook over-speeding drivers. i would also introduce road tax. Bottom line, somebodys got to pay someway somehow. Nigerians just need to get real and forget about awoof, it's time to start paying for what we crave and use.excellent point! hercules07:they have done that and people are still complaining? |
debosky:kolarov! he's a beast. he won't even give walcott the space to run into. |
debosky:bad news for arsenal. . . . .it would be that kovac guy and that dude would murder walcott. in a game like this, ramirez is very useful. he travels with the ball to break lines. very useful tool to have in a team. what's your opinion of mata vs silva. i think mata has outplayed david silva tonight! |
clichy red card. . . . and ibime would tell us ramirez is not a good player!!! |
juan mata is a bastard! ![]() what a player!!!! |
clichy is really getting sodomized by sturridge. chelsea should isolate clichy a and let sturridge deal with him. |
BlueDiva:if sturridge had made the decision he made tonight in the past 6 games, chelsea would have beaten arsenal, liverpool and qpr with huge margins. when he decides to play for the team, he can be good. the sturridge of last week would have blasted straight at the keeper from an impossible angle. |
nku5:why can't it happen? lekki residents belong to one housing estate or the other. have the cars registered with lcc. get a special tag to be displayed on the wind-shield of the registered vehicles so if others are paying say 100 naira, residents would be paying 50 naira or thereabout. |
debosky:debosky, are you watching this match? |
sturridge crosses and meirelez scores! sturridge, can you now see it's good to pass? |
villas-boas looks like juan mata's father. the resemblance is shocking! |
mukina2:what was terry doing that far upfield. the moment he knew he wouldn't get the ball, he should have fouled aguero. he allowed aguero to turn n deliver a killer-pass to balotelli. |
dayokanu:but terry is. . . . .the culprit getting attracted to aguero and leaving a massive gap @ the back. |
nku5:residents that are motorists should simply ask for tags or tabs on their windshield obviously, the residents should get a subsidy! |
balotelli scores! john terry is such a useless defender! |
eros:and the government would simply build another one and double the toll-fare. how is this a problem? https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/6/68/Dartford_Crossing_Toll.jpg/800px-Dartford_Crossing_Toll.jpg the picture above is the toll @ dartford tunnel in the uk. for a period of 2 yrs, i used that road every working day and paid for the luxury. and what i paid excluded road tax and the normal tax from my wages. up till today, motorists are still paying to use that road. the governments of developed countries are not magicians. all the money they spend to put the place together are taxed from their citizens. if nigerians adopt this method gradually(instead of always expecting the government to serve them a plate of rice on their dining table), the country would be a much better place to live in. as a lagos resident, i would trust fashola's government enough to put my token in any of his toll plazas. his excellent record speaks for itself. |
Eko Ile:it peeves me when some nigerians cannot think out of the box and you would find out the people complaining the most are not even yorubas. the non-yorubas migrate to lagos for better lives and they demand what they dare not say in their states of origin. people should realize lagos is over-populated. how that state works baffles me. the amenities are seriously overloaded because people won't stop trooping in. ask these people to pay to enjoy better services and they complain - because nobody has asked them to pay in enugu, ebonyi and bayelsa. if those places are that better, why not relocate back and leave lagos alone? |
debosky:shut up your mouth. . . . .there was a reason he said that. his celebration was criticised by alan pardew @ st james' park. pardew felt some of villas-boas goal celebrations were over the top in the technical area and villas-boas then said maybe the players should celebrate their goals on the bench to nullify the impression that he's showing off. |
eros:yes - using a mere road in that part of town is a luxury. seeing that most roads in the country are death-traps, haven of daredevil robbers, poor lighting, etc. of course, you need to pay for the services of that road. nigerians want their government to model the government of developed countries and yet the citizens of nigeria don't want to model the citizens of developed countries. how does that work? Men, some Nigerians really need psychological help. I can't even argue with you because you just fall my hand by that statement.if you don't think using good roads is luxury then you should sue your teachers. with a good road, you don't have to wake up that early, your car gets less visits to your mechanic and the time of travel generally becomes shorter. all these things are luxury fashola's government is asking you to pay for. pay up or shut up! |
musKeeto:spoken like a true homoerotic peasant you were born to be. . . . what is so out-of-this world in listening to a thousand songs a day? i don't live a sad, uninteresting life like you do. i am not poverty-stricken as you are. lying that i use the 4s even after tumababa and coogar exchanged i-messages on this very same section? you are a tool and you would die a tool(heaven willing). Get a life bro, maybe change your profile pic, did your mom not show you love? She only let you suck one Bosom? Rubbed bitter leaves on your thumb so that you'd stop sucking? Your dad hit you on the head twice to demonstrate 1+1=2? Why harbor so much hatred for the world and yourself?you are the spermhead your mother should have swallowed with a bottle of courvoisier. that she allowed it to swim upstream, flagellating to the ovum might be the worst mistake in the history of humanity. now that we have you on our hands - you have become a problem to extinguish because of the human rights act. i can only pray you get shot by armed robbers so you can spare us your misery. 2012 is coming. If the mayan calendar is right, you've got 12 months to dump Siri and get a real babe, experience the world and learn to love.and you have got 12 months to dump your galaxy s2 and rid yourself of the absolute rubbish device you brag about. be positive. believe you can come out of your poverty bracket and join the echelon of the elite. stop surrounding yourself with failure. what exactly is your problem? do you need a job? do you need money? are you handicapped, perhaps with a criminal record? ![]() To each his own problem. At least, I've done my best to convert one fool. It's your choice to accept words of advice. This would be my last reply to you. I'd rather argue with more reasonable and logical people.you cannot even convert a minute to seconds and you think you can convert your impoverished life? muskeeto, this is not the life you ordered. if idiocy is a felonious crime, you won't get a death sentence - you would cop a death paragraph.in my whole life, i have not yet seen so much idiocy stuffed in one individual. surely, i have seen more intelligent silverback apes in london zoo. |
Kobojunkie:you have made several senseless remarks heavy enough to sink the titanic. the lekki tolling is a very correct decision. the problem with you and most nigerians is the fact that everyone wants to live in lagos by force even when their income does not fit in. if you want to use the lekki road, pay for the lekki road and the state government shall maintain that road until they can think about building an alternative route. that to me is logical. for the ones whose finances would collapse because of the tolling. they should move out of lekki to go n stay in the suburbs. with that, the pressure on the road would lessen and the government would have much less to do maintaining the road. everyone cannot stay in lekki. and the people, because they demand their tax money entitle them to alternative routes before the one route that has been available for them for 30 years be tolled.what useless tax do lagosians pay? abeg. . . . .don't even go down that route. nigerians don't pay any tax at all with their devious schemes and tricks they use to defraud their own government. i make 100,000 naira a month and my tax is 20,000. this looks pretty on the eye and the general idea is that the state government keeps the 20,000 but the reality in nigeria is i have created 5 ghost workers to recoup that tax in four folds back from the state government. in other words, it's now the government paying me tax, not the other way round. if i were fashola, i would put a toll-plaza on every road in the lagos island environ. lagosians want to enjoy good roads like the other developed cities in the world - then let them pay through their noses for such luxury! karl max:it is enough. . . . . .he should mount 5. 3 won't produce the cash to construct another alternative route in time. do nigerians pay "road tax"? are there congested charge area on some lagos roads? fashola is too nice for lagosians. |
eros:the seeds of nigerian women! |
musKeeto:you miserable sod! all you kept doing is lying to yourself your archaic samsung s2 is better than i-phone 4s until i put you to the sword. the most idiotic thing is you have not even seen the 4s. . . . .your comparison was with i-phone 4 and you felt 4 and 4s are the same device. when your mates were learning logic in school, you were busy chasing trapping rodents in the bush. ![]() |
nku5:of course, i do! |
