For your information, Tinubu is not in charge in Borno, there are good roads in Maiduguri, and there are no tolled gates there as well. When are you moving there just to escape this Tinubuphobia? In case, that place is too far, do exercise your right to live anywhere and move to your village, at least there tax would be 5%.

This week  Tuesday was my birthday which i did not even remember (lol), and i called her to have a meeting in one of my houses in lagos so to know how the tenants are doing, to my suprise b4 i get there on the appointed time, on opening the gate, i was surprised to see her and  a group of females singing " Happy Birthday To You "  to me behind a 2010 Toyota Camry with a customized number plate in my name .

Now i dont like the idea, i pretended to be happy in other not to spoil anyone's mood. The main thing now is i want to return the Car which is still park inside the compound, i want the way to do  it without hurting anyone.

The problem with the above is making Jones a midfielder.
Let's just say he's a great athlete.
this term alone, we have had. . . .
fletcher(hiv-virus), anderson(broken leg), giggs(old n grey) gibson(brain farts) cleverley(ankle). . .i think fergie's hands are tied!
although, he brought this upon himself. even before scholes retired, we all felt united needed at least 2 central midfielders.
now we need about 4. . .unless cleverley and anderson gets back in january(before the end of the transfer window).

@coogar you ignorant thing! You still don't get it do you? Stop making assertive statements as if you know! If you earn a million a year, you are not in the highest tax band so your tax cannot be 200,000.

I'm expecting your next show of ignorance.
you are a disgrace. . . .it's a shame you still don't get it. . .
my point is - what you pay in tax is insignificant because it's dependent on your income.
the government didn't just ask you to pay 8 million. it's because your income falls in that range of people who should be paying 8 million - jeeeez!
your reasoning is so obtuse.

so because you pay 8 million means you shouldn't pay @ toll plazas?
are you really this thick? what has your income tax gotta do with the road?
you guys really need to explore the world beyond you and see how things are done in the developed world.
the 1st world countries work a treat because their citizens pay for the luxuries - go and pay @ the toll plazas and stop whining like a hungry kitten.

Unfortunately I tell it as it is.Never hidden my disdain for Carrick but it won't Obscure the fact that he played extremely well today.
I feel he doesn't take the midfield by its collar far too often. But maybe if deployed properly,he can do some part in filling our midfield void.
but what you completely miss is the fact that in those games people thought he played poorly were games where he paired with giggs or anderson(neither of them can hold). with phil jones, you have 2 good midfielders who can both hold and can both gallop forward. jones is quick. he can quickly recover if he or carrick loses the ball and the danger is averted.

carrick has been buzzing for the past 6 games or so now.

@coogar is so ignorant! Is is that you don't know that tax band in Nigeria is 5 - 25% with 25% being highest. The reason why it's 20% for highest band is that you have a 20% personal allowance so it's 25% of 80%.

You people just come here as if you know what you are talking about!
you are the ignoramus here. . . .telling us you have paid 8 million naira this year. . . what you pay in tax is dependent on your income.
if you had made 1 million naira income this year, your tax would be around 200,000 naira.

the tax band in nigeria being 5-25% is too low. it should be more!
the upper limit - lower limit is too low. it should be something like 15% - 45%.
Politics › Re: Occupy Lekki: Lekki Toll Gate Protest-update by coogar: 1:15pm On Dec 18, 2011
The One:
Lekki is my immediate environment and I spend 95% of my time there. People in those areas don't have two heads as not to pay tolls. Which security are you talking about? I pay for security because police is useless. Which business environment? It's the most hostile anywhere in the world. Thank God I work for a MNC which deals in a global commodity not affected by local issues. If not, LASG policies and inactions would nearly have killed it. A lot of you do not feel the pulse of the citizenry, you have been given a hatchet job and you must do it without thinking.

And yes, fortunately for me, I've earned 40 million this year. Does that say I should be cheated?
you and the man who paid 1 naira tax this year because he made 5 naira are the same thing.
both of you paid 20% tax. you have not been cheated, he has not been cheated.

as a matter of fact, you should be paying a bit more as a high earner. your tax should be 40-50%.
that's how it's done in the ideal world. the rich should pay more so the government can take care of the poor.
Politics › Re: Occupy Lekki: Lekki Toll Gate Protest-update by coogar: 1:05pm On Dec 18, 2011
The One:
I ask again.

I personally have paid more than 8 million naira in taxes this year. My question is, will Fashola alllow me claim my toll expenses as tax rebate? If not, what exactly is the use of all that tax?

Forget all the shenanigans and rigmaroling discussions, this is the funamental question people are asking. Does my huge tax not qualify me for amenities? If the govt feel they cannot do it and outsource it, is it not then morally right that I also withold some of my taxes to cover for this?

This is the fundamental issue
paying 8 million naira in taxes means nothing - what you pay is dependent on the tax rate in lagos.
if the tax rate is 10% in nigeria, it means you have made 80 million this year.

i can pay 500 million naira tax if i have made 5 billion naira as income this year(assuming tax rate is 10%).
your huge tax does not qualify you for amenities - cos that's the way it is all over the world.

The One:
In essence you are saying I should not expect anything back for my tax. If you know anything I enjoy for all that tax, pls point it out to me
what should the brits do if you are here moaning about your tax in lagos?

on top of my 32% wage-tax, i pay the following. . .

council tax
congestion charge
toll plaza
road tax
vehicle license
tv license(after buying a television and paying to subscribe to cable tv).

and you're here complaining about amenities? grin grin grin grin

Any family that has 2 cars definitely aint a poor family, or do poor people in US have 2 cars? Do not allow sentiments to affect your sense of reasoning.

Hmmm Londoners should be asking their govt why the taxes paid is not enough and why they have to pay additional tolls just to drive within central London.
don't mind the enemies of progress. . . . .
lagos has to be the most congested state on the planet and yet people don't car-pool. a rich chief with 30 cars would ask all his drivers/kids, etc to take all the cars out and congest the roads. irresponsibility of the highest order.

this toll plazas would reduce the number of cars on the road - which is good news to lekki residents anyway. . .and they don't have to use that road.
they can trek, use a ferry/canoe or whatever means they can dream of. the government needs those funds to maintain/construct more roads in lagos like it's done in the developed countries.

Why venture into an adventure you know will leave you embarrassed? What's fun about that?

Are they that dumb or what? huh

not all players get caught - or lemme simply say the notorious players don't get caught.
only the amateurs, wannabes or the pseudo-players get caught.
the notorious players are professional about their tasks - they come out of their venture unharmed and undiscovered!

the notorious players plan, plot, strategise and calculate the risks to the 5th decimal place.
if the venture would expose him, he wouldn't even go into it. every move has been mapped out and he knows his escape route even before he starts the project.

in the end, you would just hear myths & rumours. . . .nothing concrete!
their escapades can only be whispered under the breaths of their victims.
the fact is - a real player can't be caught.

Villa is cool, but I prefer big strikers cos they allow you to play with one upfront effectively, hence Torres is the best!

how did torres became so shyte that ibime now feels he's the wackest striker ever.

they only go with reigning strikers(and the moment that striker is out of form - they change gears like the british weather)

there was a time he lavished praises on klose(highest goal scorer in tournaments), podolski(the best young player in the world), etc.
Good Afternoon,

My dear Nigerian brothers and sisters, if complaining about the socio-economic and political state of Nigeria would have solved her little problems, they would have been solved eons ago because the main manifest virtues that we inherited from our ancestors are the art of complaining , arguing amongst ourselves about our problems, positing different solutions, and, ultimately, implementing absolutely nothing.

The only way that we can get out of any problem in life, be they national instability or underdevelopment, or unemployment, or ill-health, etc,  is by continuous fasting and prayer. Yes, you read that right.

Pray from morning till night. Fast from dusk till dawn. Bog the crap out of God and fill His in-box with your requests. To hell with practical solutions.

Instead of looking for a job, or, better yet, instead of creating one by using the skills that you have learnt so far in the course of your education, or from your experience and/or environment, you should genuflect, look up to sky and beg God for a job.

Instead of studying, you should pray till the very last minute, because Jesus said that, "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by the words that proceed out of the mouth of the Almighty." The Holy Spirit will lead you to the right answers.

Instead of relying on yourself and thinking about ways in which you could positively impact your country, you should complain day and night, argue with your friends about the ineptness of your leaders, about the developmental stagnation of your country, and then continue praying to God, because His time is the best and He knows what you are going through. How  would you appreciate Him if you are an independent, thoughtful, and problem-solving individual?

Instead of putting in fruitful hours into your passion, you should go to your place of worship, dance for hours, sing like a fat child who has happened upon cake, and make your desires known to God. Remember, where two or three are gathered in His name, He is there with them(So all those prayer wey u dey pray on ya own, Baba God no go answer o because Him talk sey you must be at least two people. I don talk my own o).

Are you searching for a spouse? Off to the house of God because without a human mediator(that is Pastors, Alfas, Babalawos etc) your search will inexorably end in vain. If it does not, your marriage will. Except the Lord buildeth that house, they that doeth so, doeth so in vain. Be warned. Why should you waste time getting to know a man or woman when God can tell His servant who is the perfect person for you.

The more perceptive of you may opine that we already do all these. We pray like no other nation on earth. Yes, we do allocate copious amount of time to prayers, but I dare say that it is not enough; not only must we fast and pray till our breath is almost out and till we are at the point of death but also till reality has become a sort of fatuousness that inanimate objects seem to move on their own accord. Only then will the Almighty send forth his Angels to miraculously change Nigeria. Remember, it is because of our inadequate prayer sessions that God is punishing us with homosexuals, kidnappers, corrupt officials, joblessness, and other forms of evils. These things are foreign to the African culture. We have always been a pure, God-fearing, kind, loving, and war-hating group of people.

Those who have ears, let them ear.

If you are not a Christian, kindly replace any aforementioned verses with the equivalent ones from your Holy Book. Given the similarities amongst most religions, I am deeply convicted that you would not be hard-pressed to find such verses.
prayers without work achieves nothing, i am afraid!

In order to avoid all these arguements and insults. Eros had given a very sincere and truthful advice; SET THE DAMNED THING ON FIRE and there will be nothing to fight over.

To be sincere, we are being ruled by 'animals' and until you act contrarily you won't get positive response from them. Is FG not attending to BH issue today? Yesterday, they thought it was a joke. cheesy
the irony!
so if you set the damned thing on fire, you have not acted like an animal?
