@coogar why would anyone lie abt virginityhuh
so as to claim you are "holier than thou"
it's easier than admitting you have made massive mistakes in the past.

believe it or not - 90% of naija girls do it.
to be fair, i don't blame them though cos some men deliberately ask for it and women who don't want to lose a man they really love would lie to keep him. "ask no questions - i shall tell no lies".

Helloooo! In the world ahead of me, are there married couples or not? If cohabitation is better than living separately before marriage, can you guarantee that my marriage would not fail, after we cohabit? What's sweet about sinning before you get married? Unless you are an atheist! So what is the JOY in marrying someone you have been cohabiting with all your life? What's the difference?
marriages fail, cohabitation can also fail - all i am saying is cohabitation eliminates the illusion that comes with living separately before getting married.
everyone wears a certain mask in a relationship(initially), we all put up our best attitude at first and by the time our partners discover the real us in marriage - then they are bitter cos they have married the person they did not think they were marrying in the first place.

you ask - what is the joy in marrying someone i have been cohabiting all my life? i am sure you are claiming you have never seen couples who cohabited and are enjoying their marriages far better than the other divide("holier than thou"wink. the hypocrisy even gets disgusting when it was found out that nigeria has the most unfaithful women on the planet despite the fact that cohabiting is a taboo in the country. grin grin

who is fooling who? tongue

Really? And dating and courtship? What's the purpose of that? Is dating used to measure the number of girls you tried your hands on or just what exactly? What shock? And what is the guarantee that the next lady wont give you a shock? And the next? or the next? Now how long will you keep expecting a shock?
that's the essence of dating! try as many outcomes as possible to improve your chances of meeting the right woman!
i would never know a better woman if i have been stuck with one all my life. people date to seek the best before they are ready to marry. and if there's one thing you should be prepared for in life - there's no absolute guarantee to anything.

No! It wont be pleasant! Would it be pleasant that Hardunni cohabited with someone else, and discovered a shock in him, and left him, and you found out that she is NOT a virgin because she lost it while cohabiting? Haha!
i don't understand this question. if hardunni had told me the truth about her status before hand, i would have no problems with her history. the danger lies in the fact that it's easier for her to cover the truth if she's living separately. the major problem in today's marriages especially in nigeria(where living together is a taboo) is because the image does not match the reality. this sends a turbulent wave into the marriage and the man or woman feels they are being trapped in a deception. on the other hand, while i may be shocked in the discovery of hardunni's deception, hygiene, lack of anger management, etc. . . .at least i am not trapped.

And how many times will you keep kicking out! Or lemme get something right. . . Does cohabitation involve sex? If it does and you kick her out, who are you leaving her over for?
for a man that would match her perfectly!

sexkillz:
And that is the typical excuse when defending cohabitation! Cohabitation itself is one of those ills! Substituting marriage for cohabitation?  How would you truly stick to your man if you are not married to him? What's the point? Did you know, that when you are open to cohabitation, you will be open to separation when married? Co habitation only teaches us how to run away from problems confronting us! Instead of working on the relationship, we decide to tail, and move to the next person! If that is not a great ill of the world today, i wonder what ill is then!I'm NOT judging her, but Co habitation should NOT be suggested to anyone either! Nothing good comes out of it!
when you leave the confines of your present environment to the world ahead of you, you'd know cohabitation is actually better than living separately before marriage. cohabitation helps you understand your partner. you already know what you are getting into rather than getting a shock after marriage.

imagine discovering hardunni is not a virgin like she claims after i have married her. . . . . .would that be pleasant? whereas, that deceit would have been uncovered if we had stayed together before marriage. it now depends if i want to kick her out of my life or forgive her deception.

If you are married to this man, the child can call you husband daddy.it doesnt change the fact that she has a biological father especially as the child is going to leave in the same house with you and your husband.  teach her to love and respect your hubby the same way she would to her real daddy till when she grow she can choose whether or not to continue calling him daddy
we still call our uncle daddy and my causins too call my dad daddy. we grow with it and with still do. when they are together and we want to call any of them, we know how to differentiate, it feels so good honestly and it makes for close bound btwn families.
this is because you're in nigeria. that method is a very acceptable standard.
in england, children can only call their father "daddy". they are not trained to call their uncles "daddy".
separate the nigerian culture from this issue for a moment.

it's a model idea in the western world!

blimey, it's a norm especially in england where the bills are killing. what's the economic sense in a boy/f and girl/f staying in different houses and paying premium. they would never be able to save for their wedding. in nigeria, young people stay with their parents till they are married. that is not the case in the west for foreigners.

buzugee:
1.The name Africa is actually a white mans name. A white man named scipio africanus. So by calling ourselves africans are we re-enforcing  our subjectivity to white-power ?

2.The image of cesare borgia that is worshipped all over africa as jesus is actually the image of the son of  pope alexander the 6th.  The europeans during the renaissance painted all the image of black people (as black people were the dominant force prior to that and the image of a black jesus was the norm all over the world) white. they white washed all the images and arts and history. this was why it was called the RENAISSANCE. the image of cesare borgia was painted by leonardo da vinci. and ever since then the whole world has been worshipping the image of the son of pope alexander the 6th. if that is not idolatry i dont know what is.

3. The name lagos is actually a portuguese city in portugal. When the portuguese came to nigeria they named it lagos because it was a sea port and looked like their own lagos. The name has stuck ever since.

question ? is it too late to reclaim our dignity by switching these things or is it too far gone to even bother ?
abuja has since replaced lagos as the capital and we now have presidents who never wear suits but agbada and cowboy hats.
buzugee, we have since reclaimed back our dignity. the next thing is making pidgin english our official language so mrs patience goodluck won't be laughed at again.

Romance › Re: Ladies: Why You Should Practise Circular-dating by coogar: 1:22pm On Dec 14, 2011
jenny2007:
Hi everyone,
I guess you are wondering what I mean. I keep going through posts here about relationship issue like confusion as to where you stand in a relationship, your man is dating you and also dating others, he does not give you enough attention etc. I quite understand all of these. I stumbled on a blog online at the start of the year by rori raye (google her name) a relationship counsellor which has changed my life.
First of all, the most important thing that every woman needs to be happy in a relationship is self-love. When you love yourself you give out confident vibes which is what a man picks up on. This will determine the way he treats you. When you love yourself you do not tolerate his bad behaviour instead of dying in silence hoping he'll change. You communicate your FEELINGS to him when you love urself. Loving youself means that you put yourself first and your needs first before his. A man does not want your whole life to revlove around him. Loving urself means that you don't cancels plans to hang out with your friends just becos he called you and said he wants to see you. A man will respect you when he feels that you do not put his neeeds before yours. That tells him that you VALUE yourself. Secondly, a man wants to give you things and pay your bills. Forget all these men here in nairaland and their complaints about paying their women's bills. Ladies, a man provides for you because he loves you and therefore FEELS the need to take care of you. When u are the one paying his bills you take his masculine role away from him and that is dangerous. They might enjoy the feeling at the moment u do it but they will never feel CONNECTED to you because you have moved from you FEMININE role to the MASCULINE which obviously gives off the desperately- needy vibe. Ladies why do think that majority of men dump women that has helped them to the top from the bottom, its becos they have played his role and therefore they feel insecure and not man-enough around her. They feel less of a man. Next tin you see them with a new girl who they spend the money on, money that the other lady has given them or helped them to get. Their new woman makes them feel more manly because they GIVE to her and she RECEIVES. The other women comes off as desperate and need and a man can see this and either runs or takes advantage of you. So ladies, sit back and receive from your man. Thirdly,  I come to the reason why you must get yourself into circular-dating. It means dating several many men  all at the same time. It is not advisable to ' put all your eggs in one basket' as they say. Unless you have a ring on finger you should circular-date. When you circular dat you find that you do not put all your hopes, dreams, love, attention, time, etc on just one man who might end up calling off the relationship. When you circular-date you have options, you have a CHOICE out of many men. It does not pay to be exclusive with a man that isn't exclusive with you and this means the both of you dating each other alone. When you circular dat you do not feel the need to attach yourself to one particular person. Any man has to fight for your attention. Unless you are sure that your man is exclusive to ONLY YOU then yoy shld circular date. Don't get me wrong circular dating doesn't mean sleeping around. It simply means going on as many actual dates as you can with people you are attracted to. When different people are asking you out, you go on different dates with the ones that you like afterwards you get to make a choice and pick what you want and who you want when u have really gotten to know them. Increase your degree of difficulty. Don't play hard to get, be hard to get.by loving yourself, having your own life outside your relationship, being comfortable with receiving from a man, and circular-dating. This three factors make you a challenge and increases your degree of difficulty. If u love urself u would know how you want to be traeted by a man, what you want, when you are not getting it and what to do about it. People want what they can't have and when they finally get that thing they don't want to loose it.
you are smart enough to write this piece but not smart enough to space them with paragraphs.
i don't understand how some of you passed your exams writing words with no space to be read.
dickheads!

circular-dating my white arse!
by the time you clock 40 and you have been used by all the men in the hood. . . . .you would realize your many mistakes.

The One:
I have been following this thread for the past 2 days and have been holding myself back from commenting. There's a lot of uninformed commentary here from a lot of people who obviously don't know much about the area in question. The first myth I want to correct is the talk that the people in the area covered by the road are rich. BIG FALLACY. Not up to 20% of the people are comfortable not to talk abt being rich. People see estates on the main road from phase 1 to jakande and conclude that represents the population of the place. I challenge anybody to go along any of the roads off the main road and see the abject squalor in those without ANY govt presence. Places like Ilasan, interior Agungi, igbo efon, alfa beach, lafiaji village, olugborangan, onigbongbo village, ikota village epecially the one behind the oando filling station, the slum at Ilaje and Alesh, Alaguntan village and if you branch into Ajah places like oke ira, owode, langbasa etc you will think you stepped into the 18th century. Now govt does nothing for these people and the only remnant bequeathed to them by Jakande is now being taken away by Fashola. You see why they'll fight with the last drop of their blood. Now if you say they don't contribute to the state coffers, what about the so-called rich ones that live in the estates. Again govt does ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. All the estates come with their own amenities which the residents pay for because the govt will not do anything. The irony is that to do any project in that place costs an arm and a leg for consent and permits. I will not go into the argument about the morality or legality of the concession. Because of this issue, I went and checked my year-to-date playslip today and discovered to my chagrin that I've paid 8 million naira in PAYE taxes to the LASG this year alone! And someone will say Iam not entitled to a good road as the ONLY amenity govt provides for me?! Fashola cannot have it both ways, he either collects TAXES or TOLLS but not both of them.
that's a tea spoon out of the ocean if you have copped 80 million naira this year as income.
in a nutshell, what you have paid as PAYE taxes makes no difference if you don't tell us your income.

This thread has conclusively proven you are a certified . I really pity the man who has the misfortune of marrying you.
don't mind them. . . . .3 pages ago, these runts are arguing there's no alternative route at all. now that they have been told there are actually routes, the story changed to those roads are too narrow/not motorable/there are gates/etc.

if they want to use the crisp roads, they should pay for it.
if they cannot afford to pay, then they should relocate out of the area or build a canoe!

Lagos, LCC Unveil Alternative Routes Ahead Of Toll Collection
TAKING into cognizance the protest that characterized the proposed tolling arrangement on the Eti-Osa-Lekki-Epe expressway in time past, the Lagos State government, in conjunction with the Concessionaire, the Lekki Construction Company (LCC), last week unveiled the alternative routes ahead of December 18th, toll collection date.

The alternative route for those who may not want to pass through the Admiralty Circle Plaza (1st tolling plaza), located at kilometer 3 along the expressway, is the Ligali Ayorinde-Oba Oniru road, en-route Market Road-First Roundabout. The road is an entrance point to link the expressway for road users coming from either Ikoyi or Victoria Island.

Besides, the second alternative route is for the residents along the Lekki axis, especially, those living in places such as Agungi, Osapa, second round about, Jakande and others and those coming from Eleko-Epe axis. These set of road users have the opportunity of avoiding the tolling plaza, by making a detour at the second round about. The link road passes through Remi Olowude-Kuboye road, also linking the Oniru-Market to connect Exxon Mobil office in Maroko, for those going to, Ikoyi, Obalende and Lagos Island and Ligali Ayorinde to those going to Victoria Island.

Apart from the alternative routes, there are also slip/access roads linking the various communities and business concerns to the expressway. Such newly constructed roads are in places like QMB Builders market, Insurance PHB, Elizade motors immediately after the second round about and places like the Osapa-Agungi axis.

The third alternative routethat commence from both sides of Chevron areas are still ongoing. It was non-completion of these routes that informed the decision by the Lagos government not to allow tolling at the “Conservation Plaza”, the second tolling plaza located at kilometer 13, in the vicinity of Chevron Nigeria Limited.

Briefing Journalists during the tour of the road last week, the Director General, Private public Partnership (PPP) in Lagos Dr. Ayo Gbeleyi, explained the rationale behind the construction of these alternative routes and access roads.
According to him, one of the agitations by the residents and other stakeholders was the perceived financial burden that tolling would impose on them. Besides, there was this complaint about the inconveniences the fencing of the right of way (ROA) would also impose on the residents and businesses to connect their respective homes and offices.

“The reality was there that these agitations are not unfounded. However, government, in its quest to ameliorate the financial burden, asked the concessionaire to ensure that alternative routes are provided at the appropriate locations. Besides, they were also instructed to provide slip roads at the various locations to avoid undue frustration on the residents”, said Gbeluyi.

On the issue of fencing, many factors informed the decision. Part of the reasons, explained the PPP director general, include the need to protect what he called “traffic insanity”, by the various residents and business owners that may want to come out or get to their premises at every point. “This, coupled with the instances of animals that usually strayed into the highways and the need to protect the ROA from any form of abuses were some of the reasons that informed the fencing. It was purely to ensure safety of lives and property and not for any other ulterior purposes”.

On whether there is political undertone for the suspension of tolling by government last year, the Commissioner for Information, Mr. Abdul Lateef Aderemi Ibirogba, said contrary to the notion that tolling was suspended because of election, “the main reason is that government want to ensure that all the grey areas such as provision of alternative routes, fencing and number of tolling, among other issues were properly addressed”, he said, adding that it was the same consideration that informed the suspension of tolling at the second plaza, pending the completion of the alternative routes and slip roads in the affected areas.

Earlier, the Managing Director, LCC, Mr. Opuiyo Oforiokuma, had announced the commencement date of tolling to be as from the midnight of December 17, 2011. He explained that apart from security and other traffic related innovations being put in place by the L.C.C , “Nigerians plying this route would understand and experience an uncommon service delivery along the axis”.
He told the gathering at the media parley that the second phase of the project will complete in 2012.
