I don't know whether some people think that evolution happens like pokemon or something. But on a more serious note, this problem exists mostly because evolution is just glossed over in our secondary school curriculum.

It's a fact that the Catholic church compiled the bible. I'm just saying that citing an outside source to show this fact is better than citing a Catholic one. That way, people won't just dismiss it as propaganda.

I have nothing against people following their respective religions because I believe in freedom of worship and stuff like that. But when you infringe on other people's rights in the name of your religion then you're nothing more than a criminal. This is why we have to separate religion from our country's laws. You may believe that something is morally wrong but that doesn't make it a crime, nothing is a crime as long as you're not negatively affecting another person

It is simple. The Bible was compiled and canonized by the Catholic Church.

The Jews put together the old testament and The Catholic Church put together the new testament and it took several centuries to do so. It was not until the Council of Carthage 397 years after Jesus death and subsequent approval by Pope Innocent I, that a New Testament was put together. Prior to that date, hundreds of gospels and “apostolic” writings were floating around in many different languages, some not so good or some even controverted. It was the Catholic Magisterium, guided by the Holy Spirit, which separated the good writings from the bad and selected the 27 books that are now found in the New Testament bible today.

So far as we know, Jesus himself never wrote a word (except on sand). Nor did he command the Apostles to write anything. The Catholic Church operated for many years by word of mouth and Sacred Traditions that Jesus and the disciples established and handed down and guided by the Holy Spirit to insure it would not be changed. In much later years, some of the early Apostles (and non-Apostles) composed the twenty-seven books, which were finally selected almost 400 years later and that now comprise the New Testament that is used today by all Christians.

Read Matthew 24:20-34. Keep in mind it happened about 2000 years ago. Then, answer this question honestly: did these things ever happen?

I sincerely do not mean to sound abusive and if I do please pardon me. I have personally thought that atheists belong to either one of two categories regarding evidence of God's existence....1. BLIND.. those who do not see evidence, these also do not see evidence of the existence of anything spiritual. 2. FOOL. Those who deny evidence. Because only a fool denies evidence. Again no abuse intended.
The first category should be pitied because their blindness is the very first evidence of spiritual forces. Of course there are witches, it`s not just a coincidence that every dialect worldwide has a name for them. Demons are real,, same the devil. Covens are real, of course they are. They are older than the earth. But Jesus is lord.
The second should be ignored.

Let me start by saying that I'm not attacking you in any way but that's the problem, we like to shift blame a bit too much. Granted, Nigeria has had way too many shitty leaders to make progress but we tend to forget that these leaders are also nigerians who were elected by other nigerians to come into power. So the problem is the nigerian society itself. For example, elderly people (to me people who are 30+) tend to chastise this current generation but they fail to realise that they are the very same people who ran our country to the ground. Nigerians need to learn to take responsibility for their actions and also encourage people who go against the grain to flourish because -let's face it, the old ways just aren't working anymore. Sorry for the rant.

Honestly, some things that people say on NL can cause cancer.

The Bermuda Triangle Myth has been debunked. But this doesn't make the area any less fascinating. For one, it is one of the few areas where the earth's true north doesn't align with its magnetic north, meaning that it can mess with navigation equipment on planes and ships.

Also, the area is prone to Carribean-Atlantic storms which can be quite unpredictable. This coupled with fact that there are deep oceanic trenches in the area makes it difficult to find evidence of any accidents.

These factors make the area slightly more hazardous for flight and ocean navigation but in no way supernatural or extraterrestrial for that matter. Besides, thousands of aircraft and ships travel through the area every year without incident.
VERDICT: BUSTED

That aside, if the original intent of man was to keep himself warm, how did the idea of na.kedness creep in. How did some parts become more private than the other?.

Man lost his natural adaptive features simply because of man's intelligence, making clothes allowed a vast majority of the hairless hominids survive to pass they're genes to the next generation. They had the advantage and so they survived. Man influenced his own evolution in this case.

Scientists aren't fully sure of the reason we have body parts that are considered private though. But one theory is that private parts are sensitive and prone to infection therefore, it was in our best interest to keep them covered.

I also find History, politics, philosophy and ancient antiquities intriguing and helpful in developing a sound and balanced view of the world through consistent logic.
Though personally i do not sorely rely on Science and Reason because i feel these are necessary for every human rather than regarded merely as sufficient factors.
But i greatly distrusts everything that contradicts science or outrages reason. . . Or out boycotts systematic deductions in order to establish immutable and unquestionable dogmas. .

The OP mentioned lack of knowledge as one of the challenges female atheists are facing in Nigeria, so I gave her basic things she should know about the world around her. Science deals with facts, so she should have facts. Stating facts to people is a better approach than bashing their religion IMO. You can't be taken seriously if you don't have knowledge. So while these things have nothing to do with atheism, they are still good points to make when asked.

Man invented clothes because man is a complex animal with a complex brain. We are the only animal that can work with intelligence. One theory states that before man's evolutionary split with chimpanzees, we used to live in cool forests with adequate cover because of the trees. But when the first hominids started to move into hotter areas, the hairy ones will have overheated and died. Allowing the less hairy ones to reproduce. The less hairy ones would have lost heat at night and died of hypothermia, but that's where intelligence comes into play, by building fires and wearing the skin of dead animals, the hominids were able to survive. These made it unnecessary for man to remain hairy.

OP, you've raised some valid points but there's one that can readily be remedied. You don't have to be a professor to some of these things but it takes extra effort because these things are glossed over in primary and secondary school.

At least we always have google. Google the following keywords on evolution: artificial selection, convergent evolution with marsupials, the laryngeal nerve, chromosone 2, ring species, endogenous retrovirus, the lungfish, archaeopteryx.
