Just like the connection the world recognises in a mother &child, so we believe that Mary and Jesus were connected here on earth and are still connected today in heaven.

Now you don't necessarily have to believe in this or practice it but you can at least respect it the way you respect the mother of your dearest friend. You don't need to be a Catholic to get favours from her..You just need to ask as we are all her children whether we love her or not. You could be like the woman in one of her many stories where a childless woman went to one of her statues and said, ' I heard you can give children, please give me a child' and by God's grace she got it.

It's not easy to explain how she works but you just notice little little extraordinary graces or good luck in some things while living your life normally.

One thing has always held me back from condemning gay people...emphasis on 'people'. Actually I really feel sorry for them because no human would willingly choose to be held in such disgust and contempt by his environment: family, friends, community...This makes me feel that they really can't help being gay and if someone can not help being something....then what exactly will we do about it now? I have no answer. Worse still, they are EVERYWHERE and can be found in every country culture and tribe. So this tells me it's not an upbringing thing but some people just come to the world like that.

Many have been killed, many have died in the closet and still many are springing up everywhere.

All I can say is that women should keep fighting the fight. You have to pay the price for what you want. 10,000 years of culture will fight you back so don't be discouraged. You don't really expect the eternally favoured by society men to support you, do you? There was a time women weren't allowed to go to school not to talk of being a doctor or lawyer before we even talk of political posts, or something as simple as driving a car. Imagine Fela's mother was the first woman to drive a car in Nigeria. Some women of the past paid the price for the change in our society today...lost their homes, families and even their lives fighting for what you enjoy today. Now most men don't want to marry a woman who is not a graduate and working in a good place. Men now want women who would contribute to the home in addition to their standard duties.

The battle is real and you will hear all sorts of things but what's important is what do you believe in? They ll come after you with violence like ur mothers of old experienced. How strong are you? There are great decent men out there whom their mothers did a good job training. Align with them and win your battle.
