HealthRe: Mindbending Puzzles Designed To Boost Memory And Reduce The Risk Of Alzheimer's by cooncudee(op): 9:24am On Apr 08, 2017
CONCENTRATION

This is your ability to focus exclusively on one thing withoutbeing easily distracted.

As we get older, we usually retain the ability to concentrate on one task — such as watching a favourite TVprogramme — but we can become more easily distracted. Your attention levels are good if you are able to stay prettywell focused on a conversation (or a chat on the phone) even when the TV is on or people are talking around you.

But if you are finding yourself increasingly easily distracted, or you need to move to another room to concentrate properly, this could indicate that your attention levels are dropping — making targeted attentionexercises a good focus for you.

HealthMindbending Puzzles Designed To Boost Memory And Reduce The Risk Of Alzheimer's by cooncudee(op):
There's something so infuriating about striding purposefully into a room — only to glance around and wonder why on earthyou went in there in the first place.

Or perhaps it’s endlessly rummaging around for keys or spectacles because you’ve got absolutely no idea where you put them.

We might laugh off the occasional memory lapse as a ‘senior moment’, but as mini mental slip-ups become steadily more frequent, it can be very easy to wonder whether the odd missed appointment, forgotten password or inability to grasp that elusive word hovering tantalisingly on the tip of your tongue could be a sign of something more sinister.

One of the greatest fears for any adult is the scourge of dementia, and as a doctor of psychology specialising in Alzheimer’s disease, the question I am most often asked is whether you can reduce your risk.

Thankfully the answer is definitely yes! Studies have shown that a healthy diet, regular exercise, no smoking, not too much alcohol, good sleep, socialising and de-stressing are fundamentals for long-term brain health.

But the most exciting areas of research lie in the powerful regenerative effects of exercises for your brain.

Our studies show that just three hours of targeted brain training a week is enough to ensure that someone with early dementia can confidently function at a higher level.

But we have also found that a good mix of exercises builds the strength and flexibility of the healthy brain, too, keeping you sharper and mentally younger whatever your age.

You should think of it in the same way you would a quick walk or swim — simple daily exercises that keep everything ticking over.

Keeping your brain stimulated is crucial. In fact, people who continue to test their brains throughout their lives have been shown to have a lower risk of developing dementia.

If you already tackle a daily crossword puzzle or run through a few sudokus at the weekend, that’s great. But I’ve got news for you — I’m afraid that just isn’t going to cut it.

You really do need to mix it up with a wider range of exercises in order to glean maximum benefit from the brain’s ability to adapt and hang on to every single last drop of your thinking power for as long as possible.

My studies show that the perfect brain workout targets different parts of the brain, just as a proper gym workout would target muscle groups around the body.

For maximum brain power, you need to complete a variety of exercises which target different cognitive abilities.

Below are the different types of puzzle in our special pullouts.

Christianity EtcNigerian Theists Nd Hypocrisy- On The Zamfara Governor's Statement On Meningitis by cooncudee(op): 1:27pm On Apr 05, 2017
I was listening to I beg to defer on Nigeria info fm Lagos today, and they were discussing the Zamfara governor's statement on the outbreak of meningitis in the state. They were arguing if the governor has the right, as a public officer to release such a statement- that god caused the meningitis outbreak as a punishment for our sins. Then a caller called and said, some notable pastors- Sam Adeyemi and pastor Adeboye has said things related to that before and nobody is challenging them, why are they now challenging the governor for making that kind of statement. Is it because they believe that God cannot punish people for fornication by plaguing them with a disease that has no vaccination. Or they just want to blame the governor for god's actions.
Zamfara is a religious state and the governor has just resonated the mind of the people. Why come for his head. He has said his own, stop fornicating and god Will not touch you. stop blaming the governor. He can't possibly do anything about it. His hands are tied.

But we can still go out. Garner some confidence and power and come back to do our best in trying to redeem our nation.
Christianity EtcRe: [superstition] The Making Of Smart Morons by cooncudee(m):
Naturalized:
While it is easy to jump on both bandwagons - that of belief and unbelief in the supernatural - it really doesn't take much to think deeply about issues and apply a bit of rationale in situations as appropriate.

I am more agnostic than atheist but I find that both sides have a point.

Take for instance the Port Harcourt story, while it may sound like baloney to you, someone who doesn't believe in the existence of a supernatural (and by extension witches/wizards), did you at anytime ask yourself the question of what time the woman was discovered at that location? Did you consider the possibility that if she had been 'dumped' earlier commuters would have seen her earlier and the story wouldn't have happened around 9am? These are the questions we must always seek answers to inasmuch as we want to be the 'right' ones.

Just as I have seen religious folks claim any and everything as supernaturally designed with complete disregard for the realities of science, so have I seen atheists/agnostics reject the possibility of being science being wrong - which unknown to many is a possibility in itself as professed by many a renowned scientists.
have u asked yourself where the oyinbo witches and wizards went, they sure once had them in abundance before and they were burnt at the stake. Were they all killed? no. The white man has purged himself of those archaic beliefs. They've reviewed and rejected the nonsense. The woman's story you heard/read is a padded version of somebody's supposition of what happened, that has passed through and has been refined by many mouths/hands before reaching your hearing/view. call someone a thief in the market and of course people will believe you and assist in lynching the person just because he looks like a thief. somebody probably came up with the idea and it gained traction because of the way she looked. Trust me, most of the people at the scene weren't there when it 'supposedly' happened. Have you even asked why she isn't stark naked?

What isn't right isn't right. The 'witches' the Russian woman saved haven't killed her.

Moreover, branding people witches and discriminating against them or meting out punishment on them based on our religious convictions is unconstitutional.

Nigeria is filled with morons.

i used to call my friends who haboured the thought of going overseas to live after school unpatriotic and selfish, but now i'm beginning to doubt my convictions about the future of this country. The society is constantly trying to squeeze out the good in you. You wouldn't thrive with your creativity and talent if you don't have some dubious tendencies in you, you either cheat others or be ready to be cheated. You have to be the predator or be preyed upon. Worst still, there isnt any sign that we are going to be any better in the future. No hope. Everytime something good springs up, we rush in and destroy it. We just keep running around in circles. The system is well organised for this to continue that it will take some drastic intervention for there to be any chance of hope. The people are rotten, selfish and always blame others for their circumstances actions and inactions. I do not blame the Biafrans.

Y'know, you might have had something important to tell her but the way you called out to her has alot of impact.
Did you go about calling her out rudely and maybe using terms you feel sound sweet but in the real sense it's irritating just because it's coming from a total stranger.

Take for instance, a guy probably driving saw some girl that tickled his fancy and stopped.
Courtesy demands he gets down from the car if he chooses to have a decent conversation with her.
You don't expect the girl to perhaps bend down whilst trying to poke her head in through the side window to hear what you've got to say, all these happening while you're sitted down comfortably.
Little things like this matter alot if you ask me.

That been said, we female folks act rudely atimes and sincerely it's uncalled for.
True! regardless of what you wnted to say to her. If you dont show her respect by your approach. Dont expect her not to be rude. Tho some girls tend to be naturally obnoxious.

Christianity EtcRe: Is There Any Difference Between Holy Spirit And Self Control? by cooncudee(m): 9:25pm On Mar 18, 2017
ministerk:
I'd like to add to this discussion. The sinner sins. That's what he does. All humans sin.
All humans were born with free will. We are all given the right to choose. Man chose to distance himself from God(Genesis 3). Usually that is what we do - we sin. *Why? Because we are guilty of sin from birth, a sinner the moment our mother conceived us (Psalm 51:5). The only way to be free from the chains of sin is to become a "child of God" - one must be born again (John 3:3-6). Otherwise, because we are innately sinful we cannot help ourselves.
We will keep on sinning. Galatians 5:19-21 shows you how bad we can get. The opposite of self control is self-indulgence, un-restraint or even indiscipline. We act this way when we do not have the Spirit of God in us. We sin. But when we become believers, the same God who created heaven and earth resides in us, guiding us into "truth". He becomes our self-control. So notice, Christians will sin, and sometimes badly! But that is when they do not allow the Spirit of God to guide their words thoughts and actions. **When a Christian obeys the Word of God and listens to the Holy Spirit, they absolutely cannot sin. It is then that they can have real self-control, because self control is a FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT (Galatians 5:23). When you have the Spirit of God working in you, He restrains your appetites, your passions and your desires. That's why Christians can find strength to remain faithful to their husband and wives. When we refuse to listen to the spirit, we can do all sorts of evil - that's when we have No Self - Control. But first, a sinner needs God to have real self control. Other than that they are disciplined enough to do good (works) with God's Spirit. Even the devil can do good. But real Self-Control is found In-Christ Jesus.

Someone in this thread said it well "Self Control is a work of Grace". Yes! We nail our flesh to the cross!
* pls which sin did you commit in your mothers womb, or while you were a 'baby'.

**Not true, a lot of holy ppl that submit to the holyspirit and listen to it still 'sin', (then they realize that they've sinned and ask for forgiveness.) You can't run away from 'sin'. Stop fooling yourself.

Free yourself from mental slavery.

PhonesSony Patents Technology For WIRELESS POWER TRANSFER Between Devices by cooncudee(op): 6:02pm On Mar 17, 2017
*.Sony has patented tech to let you 'steal' battery powerfrom nearby devices

*.Phones could search for power in a similar way to seeking out Wi-Fi hot spots

*.A chip with data transfer technology could enable power exchange wirelessly

Sony has come up with a new idea to let you charge your phone wirelessly - but it might test your generous side.

The Japanese technology company has patented technology that will enable phone users to 'steal' battery power from nearby devices.

Phones could hunt down power using a system similar to Wi-Fi hot-spotting and top up their phone's battery wirelessly with charge from another person's device.

NEAR FIELD COMMUNICATIONS

The patent says the new technology will use a chip equipped with Near Field Communications (NFC), a technique that allowsdata transfer over short distances.

NFC lets devices within 1.6 inches (four centimetres) of each other to 'communicate'.

The technology is commonly used in contactless payment systems and also for wirelessly sharing contacts, photos and videos between mobile devices.

The futuristic technique could enable mobile phones to take power from a range of electric devices, including other smartphones and computers, as well as washing machines, fridges and TVs.

The patent says the technology will use a chip equipped with Near Field Communications (NFC), a technique that allows data transfer over short distances.

NFC lets devices within 1.6 inches (four centimetres) of each other to 'communicate'.The technology is commonly used in contactless payment systems and also for wirelessly sharing contacts, photos and videos between mobile devices.

'The method comprises identifying a plurality of antenna systems including at least a first antenna system and a second antenna system,' inventors wrote in a United States Patent Application.

'At least the first antenna system is cooperated with a first CE device and the second antenna system is cooperated with a separate second CE device.

'The patent goes on to describe how any device fitted with an NFC chip will be able to search for other electronics fitted with the same system.

Two devices will then be able to connect to exchange power, inthe same way that a device can search for Wi-Fi hot spots.

The patent doesn't say whether it is just smartphones that will be targeted by the technology, instead referring to 'portable consumer electronic devices'.

In February, Disney announced that is also working on technology similar to Wi-Fi that can power up to 320 mobile devices without the need for wires.

The technology, called quasistatic cavity resonance (QSCR), uses magnetic fields to transmit power to mobile devices, and is being developed by scientists at Disney's research lab in Pittsburgh.

Alanson Sample, lab director and principal research scientist atDisney Research, said:

'This new innovative method will make it possible for electrical power to become as ubiquitous as WiFi.'This in turn could enable new applications for robots and othersmall mobile devices by eliminating the need to replace batteries and wires for charging.'

Christianity EtcWhy Most Nigerians Don't Believe In Miracles - Dr. Chris Okafor by cooncudee(op): 9:02pm On Feb 24, 2017
The general overseer of the Liberation Citychurch, Dr. Chris Okafor popularly known as the Oracle of God, owing to his unrivalled prophetic accuracy has said that two major factors militate against Nigerians’ belief in prophecy and miracles. The man of God who in 2016 alone held miracle crusades in more than a hundred locations around Nigeria, Africa, Europe and North America has kicked off his 2017 crusade tours with resounding miracles to show for it.

At the Chris Okafor World Outreach Ministries (COWOM) crusade recently held in Asaba, a man who has been blind from childhood miraculously received his sight even while the man of God was just preaching. Then there were diverse miracles that left people in that region thinking hard about the source of his powers.

From Asaba, the man of God proceeded to Oshogbo in Osun state where a mad man who was bundled into the crusade ground was healed. People who knew the madman and how long he’d been mad simply didn’t know what to think about what happened.

Then there was the highlight – when the man of God prophesied that there was a pastor in the congregation who had visited a witch doctor for power to grow his churchmembership. He prophesied that the witch doctors had made the so-called pastor to sleep in a graveyard for three whole days! At this, the mammoth crowd was thrown into frenzy. The pastor in question – Pst. Shedrach eventually came out and confirmed every word the man of God had spoken. The man of God later prayed for pastor Shedrach and destroyed the alleged“crowd-pulling” charm in his pocket, with which he intended to pull crowd away to his own church

There was also the case of a child who had lost consciousness and was virtually clinically dead. The man of God grabbed the child and prayed fervently for life to come into its body and it did.

When the news of all that had happened broke, somepeople reacted with skepticism. Some evens aid that it was all arranged. Others called it ‘Fake’.

When the man of God heard about it, he simply said
“My heart grieves for Nigeria. I kind of know why people in this part of the world hardly believe in prophecies and miracles. Go to YouTube and see the number of fake prophets who are out there performing magic and deceiving people up and down. I use to show those videos to my pastors. And I know some of these people. My heart grieves. It’s hard to see all that and still believe that anyone can be real, doing what we do. See, there’s an autobiographical documentary on me that will soon come out. I want the world to see it and know that I was born to do what I’m doing. I invite those who think we arrange people for miracles to visit our church. If I see you, the lord will use me to tell you what you’re going through, and not only that; the same God will use me to provide you with solution. That’s the difference between fake and real. A real prophet will give you solutions and that solution will be permanent. That’s what God has been using me to do in our church and I dare anybody who’s in doubt to visit. My advise to Nigerians is to not throw away the baby with the bath water. The fact that there arefakes doesn’t mean that God hasn’t chosen a few of us to do what we are doing. If you don’t understand it, it doesn’t mean it’s not real. I pray that God will help us all
”The man of God who also blamed some of Nigerians’ hostile approach to miracles on lack of sound knowledge of the bible said “rather than get angry with peoples’ opinion about prophecies and miracles, I have chosen to just bear with people, focuson what I’m called to do and then leave therest to God. More than half the people in our church today were first of all skeptics, before they became believers in Miracles and prophecies. Let God lead.”The man of God and his Chris Okafor WorldOutreach Ministries (COWOM) are scheduled to storm Complexe Jesses Jackson de Yopougon in Abidjan, Cote D’ Ivoire from Wednesday the 8 to Friday the 10th of March, 2017 for an expectedly massive crusade, and later proceed to the Ghana International Conference Center, Accra- Ghana between Wednesday 15 and Friday 17 March, 2017 for yet another impactful miracle crusade.
