Gerrard59:The way you defend Chile...isn't masculine. |
Some of it may be unhealthy thinking that resulted from a lack of understanding and correction. Some of it may be from mental health issues. But all competition isn't bad, that's how you have entire families of doctors, engineers, businessmen, artists... |
Gerrard59:Which posts are these? P.S. Chile is markedly different from other South American countries. There is a reason American PassportBros don't visit there compared to Columbia or Peru. That's cool. F-CK Chile. |
DaddyCoool:1.) Oyinbos do NOT determine who is black. F-CK that. 2.) DNA says those are NOT black people. |
Poverty, neocolonialism, and other trauma. It's kind of hard for some people not to be angry and bitter. But I think some people abroad respond a certain way because either they desperately want to feel they've arrived despite modest achievements, or they feel cheated by Nigeria because of what they see, experience, and achieve abroad. So basically, a mental health issue. |
tensazangetsu20:lol I hope no one actually believes this. |
South America...has a lot of problems. When a male goes there and raves about the women, he's likely clueless about how messed up the country and/or society is, or he's a lowlife that thinks exploiting poor women is okay. If you're a guy and you go to one of those countries, these are some of the reasons women will be all over you: -She wants to set you up to get robbed. -She's a hooker. -She's a known hooker and no other men will date her. -She's bait for human trafficking. -She thinks you make at least 40,000USD annually, which is a ton of money to them. And you're her potentially "rich" boyfriend to squeeze money from that her and her local boyfriend/husband spend. -In her insanely racist/colorist country, the fact that she's slightly darker than an albino causes all kinds of problems in her life, and she knows she'll get the opposite treatment from you. But the fact is, she's racist as well. -She thinks you're her ticket out of the hellhole country she's in. -Men in those countries are known to smack women, and she's trying to escape that culture by marrying you. -It's a purely sexual relationship that will go nowhere because she will only or already has married a local. ETA: It doesn't matter what one of these women does for you or how many different ways you have sex with her, she's still racist. |
Some NGO probably paid them to do this. |

A Scandinavian Airlines passenger got an unpleasant surprise when she opened her in-flight meal and a live mouse scampered out. The unhygienic incident caused the flight to make an emergency landing on Wednesday, Sept. 17, the airline told the AFP news agency, according to the BBC. Airline spokesperson Oystein Schmidt said the rodent posed a “safety risk” to travelers, who were flying from Oslo, Norway, to Malaga, Spain. The plane was diverted to Copenhagen. Passengers later traveled to their original destination of Malaga on a different aircraft. One of the passengers on board, Jarle Borrestad, shared his experience witnessing the furry intruder in a Facebook post. "Believe it or not. A lady next to me here at SAS opened the food and out jumped a mouse. Now we have turned around and landed at CPH [Copenhagen Airport] for flight changes," Borrestad wrote. Schmidt said that finding a mouse on a flight is “something that happens extremely rarely.” "We have established procedures for such situations, which also include a review with our suppliers to ensure this does not happen again,” Schmidt added. PEOPLE reached out to Scandinavian Airlines but did not immediately hear back. An article on the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association’s (AOPA) website notes that mice can chew through electrical wiring on planes — and partially chewed wires, which are harder to detect, can cause short circuits and pose a fire risk. AOPA adds, “Once mice live in an airplane, it’s not only their house, but…uh…their bathroom, too. This is more than simply gross. Mouse urine is corrosive to metal, and their droppings can serve as anti-desiccants, retaining moisture and causing water corrosion.” “If you see a mouse in the hangar, the correct response is to jump into action,” the article advises. https://people.com/a-mouse-jumped-out-of-a-woman-s-airplane-meal-causing-the-flight-to-be-diverted-8716122

Corporacion America Airports SA, one of the world’s largest airport operators, expressed an interest in investing in Kenyan airfields three months ago and has yet to receive a response from the authorities. The Buenos Aires-based company submitted a presentation letter to then Transport Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen in mid-June, it said in an emailed response to questions. “So far, we haven’t had any response from Kenya’s government to that letter of presentation,” it said. CAAP’s interest adds to a private bid by Indian billionaire Gautam Adani’s to take over Kenya’s main airport in the capital, Nairobi, and run it for 30 years. The Adani plan was suspended by a Kenyan court last month after opponents argued it breached constitutional principles of good governance, transparency and responsible use of public money. The Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project in July questioned why the Kenyan authorities are considering a private proposal after experts advised the government earlier this year to put out a public tender for the project. Kenyan lawmaker Richard Onyonka has argued that there were other investors seeking to invest in Kenya’s airports, including CAAP. Current Transport Secretary Davis Chirchir last week told lawmakers that the nation had only received one proposal to develop Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi — the one submitted by Adani. Both the transport ministry and the airports agency weren’t immediately available for comment. https:/www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2024-09-16/airports-operator-caap-expressed-interest-in-kenyan-investment |
Mr. Kibao was killed just weeks after more than 500 Chadema opposition leaders and members were arrested ahead of a rally, drawing criticism from rights groups and spurring concerns that the authorities were cracking down on opposition parties as they did ahead of the 2020 elections. And in recent months, human rights activists and local news outlets have reported that political activists and opposition leaders who had directly criticized Ms. Hassan or planned to organize protests against her government have been abducted or arbitrarily arrested. While some of those snatched were tortured and later dropped at police stations, others remain missing, said Maria Sarungi Tsehai, a Tanzanian activist. Ms. Tsehai said the crackdown was meant to deny the opposition a level playing field in the elections and to entrench the hold of the ruling party that has dominated Tanzanian politics for more than half a century. Ms. Hassan came to power in 2021 after Mr. Magufuli, with whom she served as vice president, died months after winning his second term. “The ultimate fear they have is the loss of power,” Ms. Tsehai said. “I hope the abduction and murder of Ali Kibao is going to open up the door for a much wider conversation about what’s happening in Tanzania,” she added. “There’s extreme outrage and anger in the population who feel nobody should die like that.” For now, activists and opposition leaders have called for swift accountability around Mr. Kibao’s killing and for leaders of the security establishment, including the home affairs minister, to resign. Tanzania’s police have said that they are investigating the killing and that they have enlisted help from experts from the office of the director of criminal investigations. Officials with the Chadema party have accused the police and security services of being suspects in the case and urged the government to establish an independent body to investigate. Ms. Hassan said that she had ordered investigative agencies to bring her detailed information about the killing as soon as possible. “Our country is a democracy, and every citizen has the right to live,” Ms. Hassan said in a post on X. “The government I lead does not tolerate such brutal acts.” https://www.nytimes.com/2024/09/10/world/africa/tanzania-opposition-official-killed.html |
The abduction and killing of an opposition official over the weekend in Tanzania has kindled fear and consternation in the East African country, with activists saying it has added to questions about the democratic credentials of the nation’s pathbreaking president as elections loom. The official, Ali Mohamed Kibao, was a member of the secretariat of the opposition Chadema party. He went missing on Friday after armed men handcuffed him and forcibly removed him from a bus leaving the city of Dar es Salaam, according to his party. Mr. Kibao’s body was found a day later in the suburbs of the city, and party officials said an autopsy showed that he had been beaten badly and that acid had been poured on his face. “He was absolutely destroyed. He couldn’t be recognized,” Tundu Lissu, the party’s deputy and a former presidential candidate, said in an interview hours after Mr. Kibao was buried on Monday. “It was a horrible death.” President Samia Suluhu Hassan condemned the “terrible” killing of Mr. Kibao, who defected from the governing party over a decade ago to join Chadema. Mr. Kibao’s death comes amid a wave of abductions and arrests of opposition party members that have rattled Tanzania as it gears up for local elections in December and a general election next year. The apparent crackdown has spurred fears that a government that came to power pledging reform was returning to the repressive tactics of its predecessors. Ms. Hassan, Tanzania’s first female leader, had promised to break with the previous leader’s autocratic tendencies when she took office in 2021. Ms. Hassan met with Vice President Kamala Harris in Washington in 2022 and again during Ms. Harris’s visit to Tanzania last year as part of the Biden administration’s efforts to bolster democracy and women’s empowerment in Africa. Ms. Hassan signaled early in her term that she would ease repression in Tanzania: She allowed political rallies to resume, lifted a ban on several newspapers and opened the country to foreign investors. But more recently, she has been accused of stalling in enacting broader overhauls, including writing a new Constitution, amending the electoral law and overhauling onerous media regulations. “There was this real and urgent need to want to believe that Samia was going to be different,” Mr. Lissu said. "But the only difference she has with her populist predecessor, John Magufuli, he said, is that “Magufuli did it with a snarl and Samia does it with a smile.” article continues in next post |

Injuries From Confined Spaces Wind turbines are low oxygen working environments, and they can cause intense claustrophobia for the workers. There are four specific areas where these workers can be confined: the tower, hub, blades, and nacelle. In these small spaces, there is the chance that an employee can be exposed to toxic vapors or hazardous gases. They also may pass out due to the lack of oxygen. Tower The turbine tower is a large area, but it is also confined. If someone needs to go up into the tower to repair or install something, there is a chance that they can get trapped inside or sustain an injury in very narrow areas. Nacelle The nacelle of the tower houses the electrical components of the turbine. Wind technicians often have to go into this area to troubleshoot electrical issues, and there is a chance they can get stuck inside of this area. They may also suffer from electrocution if the repair or inspection goes wrong while confined. Hub The hub portion of the wind turbine connects to the nacelle. This area also poses to be dangerous for wind technicians because they can also get trapped in this area. Blades The turbine blades attach to the hub, and workers may need to enter into the blade area to keep them tight or repair and maintain them. The blade is another confined space that has the potential to trap an employee. Wind Farm Injury From Moving Parts There is a high chance that someone can get hit by a moving blade or other moving gear within the turbine. Although these wind farm turbines are massive, there are other smaller parts where technicians work near. If someone were to get hit by this gear or they were to get stuck in the gears, there is a chance they could sustain injuries or die. It is crucial that your employer has some type of marking that shows that certain parts have the potential to move, even if they are not currently in motion. https://injuredcase.com/common-wind-turbine-injuries/ |
Falling Hazards One of the most common hazards when working on wind turbines is the risk of falling. There are safety devices in place and personal protection equipment available for wind technicians to use, but there is still a considerable risk of falling. Of course, a fall can happen at any time, but most fall accidents occur when technicians install the wind turbine. Employees must make sure to properly secure themselves before carefully climbing up because one step can lead to a huge disaster. In addition to falling and hitting the ground, another wind farm injury comes from the safety equipment itself. For example, even if a technician does slip and their personal protection catches them, there is still the risk for broken bones or whiplash from the force of the fall. Wind Turbine Failures Inside of the wind turbine is sensitive electronic systems that can fail, causing potential wind turbine health hazards. These turbines produce a large amount of electricity, so it is possible for workers to sustain injuries from an electric shock. There are custom lock-out systems that can disengage the turbine so the blades can’t spin and generate an electrical current. Placing the lock can help ensure that the turbine does not turn back on while someone is working on it. It is also best to control the humidity inside the turbine to prevent mechanical failure. If any moisture gets inside of the turbine or it is not well maintained, the turbine can short circuit and harm technicians. Wind Turbine Fire Hazards Another common wind farm injury comes from fires on the farm. These fires typically start when electrical parts overload or due to friction caused by unlubricated rotating blades. If an employee is working on a turbine when it catches fire, they can’t just run away from the flames since they are so high up. Instead, they may not have enough time to escape. To mitigate that, your employer should have a device that allows them a safe and quick descent from the flames. This could be a parachute or an emergency drop line. Article continues in next post. |
Jessica Jackson was afraid of heights when she first started her job as a wind turbine service technician — now, she spends most of her days working 300 feet in the air. Jackson, 37, is a technician at Vestas, a wind turbine manufacturer, in Bee County, Texas, and earns $73,000 per year. Climbing the turbine tower “isn’t as scary as you’d think,” she tells CNBC Make It. The tallest turbine on the wind farm Jackson works on is about 350 feet above the ground. It takes her less than 10 minutes to get to the top. “Once you’re up there, you get to see the best views: You’re watching birds fly, eagles, hawks,” she says. “You get to see planes fly by. You get to see as far as you can see. It’s beautiful.” Jackson has one of the most dangerous jobs in the world. The Labor Department reports that wind turbine service technicians have one of the highest rates of injury and illness of all occupations. It’s also the fastest-growing job in the U.S., with employment in the sector expected to almost double over the next decade. “Working in this field is hard, but it’s rewarding,” says Jackson. “I love what I’m doing, so it makes the job not seem like a job as much.” While you don’t need a bachelor’s degree to become a wind turbine service technician, some jobs might require you to complete a 2-year technical program or apprenticeship. Others, like Blattner Energy and Vestas, will provide on-the-job training for new hires. Vestas’ training covers best practices for the turbine’s electrical equipment, technical procedures like bolt torque and tensioning as well as first aid and safety protocols. Jackson gets to work at 7 a.m. and ends her shift by 5:30 p.m. She works five days a week. Every day on the job is different but starts with a problem. “What I’m working on changes every day depending on what error code, or problem with the turbine, you’re coming in to,” Jackson explains. “The wind turbines are smart, they’re basically computers and constantly communicating to us what is going on with them.” Comparable to cars, wind turbines have sensitive electronic systems, generators, pumps and other critical components that are susceptible to freezing or breaking down. Jackson’s job is to inspect, maintain and repair such parts as needed to keep the turbines running and producing power. Vestas has 66 turbines on the farm where Jackson works. She’s typically responsible for one turbine per shift, but some days, it could be several. The hardest part of her job is the climb. Jackson has to scale a narrow, metal ladder inside the turbine and pull herself through a hatch at the top to access the turbine’s nacelle, which sits atop the tower and contains the machine’s main parts. It’s a vertical climb nearly 30 stories tall. “Cutting any corners with safety could be the reason why I don’t go home that day,” says Jackson, who wears gloves, glasses, a helmet, harness and other protective equipment on the job. She’s working toward getting promoted to a level-three technician at Vestas, a role that pays about $80,000 a year, then will train to become a lead technician after that, a role that pays about $100,000 a year. https://www.cnbc.com/2024/08/06/on-the-job-earning-73000-a-year-as-a-wind-turbine-service-technician-in-texas.html

C2Ok:The postwar rise of suburbs and single-family homes. It's cheap, fast to build, and sturdy enough. It lets almost any company, even small businesses, put up a whole house in a few months for like $30K. Years ago, they were building them for even cheaper than that. They look pretty because you have a ton of different industries supporting that and making it cheap. And there was also a design standard/expectation set by the country houses of rich and upper class people of other eras. Many of them don't really look that amazing though. ETA: Because the dimensions of wood products change with fluctuation in relative humidity, kiln drying becomes one of the most important processes for the efficient use of wood products. Proper machining, gluing and finishing of wood are not possible until moisture content is reduced to an appropriate amount. The kiln process involves the drying of wood in a chamber where air circulation, relative humidity and temperature can be controlled so that the moisture content of wood can be reduced to a target point without having any drying defects. |
I don't have a problem with her hustle, but sitting by the road with a pot isn't the right approach. She can make plates in her kitchen with proper take out containers, and then go out and sell them. She could get a short-term permit, rent a hot food cart and vehicle, get proper food selling utensils/plates/etc, and then go all over the city selling plates. |
This doesn't happen because of money. It happens because (1) they're a puppet of the west and it's their job to ruin things, and (2) they're not mentally well and it's not about the money. |
It's probably not just match fixing they're worried about being discovered, probably also money laundering... |
President Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi of the Democratic Republic of Congo has said he is left with no option but building a wall fence on the long border with neighbouring Rwanda, several correspondents in the region reported Tuesday The relationship between Rwanda and the DR Congo has deteriorated as both countries blame each other for supporting armed groups that are a threat to their security. He made the remarks during a Summit of the world’s three great forest basins in Brazzaville bringing together counterparts, Denis Sassou Nguesso of Congo Republic and Brazilian, Lula Da Silva. Tshisekedi consistently blames Rwanda for the M23 rebellion which Kigali considers it an internal matter of DRC. The battle hardened M23 fighters currently control vast territories in the Eastern region of the mineral rich nation. Kinshasa has also repeatedly rejected demand by M23 movement for dialogue, effectively paralysing the Nairobi peace process which should have seen the rebels laying down their arms at a former military base. “I am sorry as President of the Democratic Republic of Congo when faced with this kind of thing, I am not tempted to build bridges but rather walls to protect our population,” he told the summit on Saturday, adding, “We cannot call each other brothers and stab each other in the back.” Launching an appeal for peace between different African nations, the President of the Republic explained that it will necessarily be necessary to banish “hypocrisy” among Africans and to have the courage among Africans to “look each other in the eyec, to say that it is abnormal to call each other brothers and stab each other in the back, at the same time. https://apanews.net/dr-congo-president-revives-plan-to-build-wall-on-border-with-rwanda/ |
