chocolateme:'Disobedient' wife? Because she refused to abandon the identity she's grown up with for years? I disagree. What would you then say about the man trying so hard to force his name on her? Because I think that is the first sign of dictatorship marriage, where the woman has no say in matters involving her. Is that the kind of marriage you are advocating for? Personally, I don't see anything wrong in a woman 'choosing' to keep her name. She is marrying the man after all, not his name. And the same goes for him; he's marrying the woman, not her name. Men should learn to understand this; a woman isn't a property you slap your name on. She has a choice too. And denying her that isn't fair. Because she chooses to keep her name doesn't make her disobedient. And because she 'chooses' (note that I used the word 'choose' not 'accept'? Because a woman being married to a man doesn't mean she has relinquished her right to choose) to adopt her husband's surname does not mean the marriage will last. Because in a marriage, it is not the name that matters, it is the person you've chosen to spend the rest of your life with. |
niceeric:Hello. How long is the internship for? |
ayindepremier:First you doubted that the job ad was genuine, that it was a likely scam. Then it turns out that it was put up by a genuine bank, rendering your baseless assumptions wrong. And so you quickly turned around to play the 'bankers are slaves' card? Funny. |
Datevilme The answer to your question is on this thread, hidden in the comments of people who feel companies have every right to treat people like dirt. I've seen people give answers like "Because they can," "Because you are begging for a job," "Because this is Nigeria." And I disagree with all of them. 1. Because they 'can' do so does not mean they 'should' do so. Because they are in such a high place does not mean they should treat prospective employees like dirt. 2. The words 'seeking' is quite different from 'begging'. I've seen someone use the latter on this thread. Do not let anyone make you feel you are 'begging' for a job. Companies put up vacancies all the time, looking for graduates to fill up positions. And because you applied doesn't mean you've relegated to begging. And even if you didn't apply the conventional way, it doesn't still give anyone the right to disrespect you or claim you are 'begging'. 3. Because it happens in Nigeria doesn't also mean it must continue to happen. I believe change starts with us all. It was brave of you to tell the interviewers that you didn't like staying under the sun. Do not let anyone tell you otherwise. In fact anyone who tells you that it was wrong for you to stand up to these people do not know or understand their worth. Keeping quiet would have meant you telling those people "I am happy to be your slave, and I will go through whatever hell you bring my way without protest." And believe this, you would have a horrible time working for a company who treats people like dirt. If applicants raise their standards, I believe employers will treat them accordingly. But if they continue to lower their standards, giving ridiculous excuses why companies should continue to treat them wrongly, then I believe these companies will continue to do so with pleasure. |
Bad reply... thats not diplomacy since the organizer of the interview is most likely among the interviewers. Those running the company have egos and you basically insulted that by the statement. It could come off as "if we employ this one, she would be rebellious".... Incase of next time, try diplomacy and flattery if possible. i wish you luck on this though. It was not a bad reply. I think it was perfect. If he hadn't let them know, their opinion of him would have been "Yes, we have ourselves a willing slave here, eager to accept whatever nonsense we throw at him without protest." And they will treat him accordingly if he had gotten the job. You said most companies have egos. Well people have egos too. Why should you lose your dignity in a bid to flatter people that disrespect you? If these employers treat applicants this way, how do you think they treat their staffs? Why do you think it would have been right to treat the interviewers (who treated their applicants like dirt) like they lay golden eggs? Please! If you feel you have been disrespected, tell that person off right there and then. Keeping quiet would only mean you are looking forward to more disrespect. Because you are seeking for a job does not mean you should lose your dignity. |
kiddkash:Anyone can treat anyone like trash. And it does not mean it's right. When you give employees or even people the right to think they can treat you in whatever way they please, then they will surely treat you that way. So this 'because they can' mentality that you have needs to stop. |
Dahveydson:Angry? Far from it. We ended our discussion on another thread. It's good that you want to show me your point being reinstated by someone else, but I'm not the kind of person who likes to dwell on past issues. We ended our discussion yesterday, let's leave it at that. |
Dahveydson:I'm not sure why you've chosen to involve me in this thread. But I will appreciate it if you do not mention me in matters that are of no concern to me. Thank you. |
ekanDamie What I've seen you do so far is trying to justify the fact that you stole. I hate to break it to you, but there is no excuse for stealing. As long as you've taken what does not belong to you, you've stolen that thing. That money was not yours to take. It belongs to your company. And they are the one authorized to pay you. You are in no position to pay yourself, whatever excuse you might give. You are not the owner of the company, neither did you employ yourself. So why then do you feel you have the right to decide how money that is not yours should be used? What you did was unethical and wrong. You stole, admit that and stop trying to make it seem like you were right to do so. I suggested you find a way to right your wrongs because this might not end well for you. |
Dahveydson:I'm generalising? Whatever you say, man. I believe I already made my point. Have yourself a wonderful night. |
MarkGud Dahveydson This is a misconception. It's not a 'do or die affair' for some. It's playing it safe. The email that was shared should not have been in the first place. Not because anyone is trying to be selfish, but because it's just common sense. That was why it was deleted. Let me explain. That email is meant for those gearing up for the interview to send their CV before the interview date. And those at Diamond Bank HR used this method in order to have the details of the interview candidates ready beforehand. Now if that email was shared with people outside the circle that it was originally intended for, the HR's inbox will be flooded with hundreds (if not thousands - you know how news flies) of emails that are not useful to their work. This will pose problems for the HR as they will have to scroll endlessly to find the CVs of the interview candidates that they actually need. And you know what this means; it's the interview candidates who would be affected as some of their emails might get lost in the crowded inbox. Sharing the email would have meant ruining the chances of those who have had the opportunity to get there. Perhaps you should try to understand yourself. No one is out to ruin your efforts to find a job. We are all just trying to play it safe. If you go through the thread from the very first page, you will find that no one has relented in sharing information. If there's anyone selfish here, it's those asking people to jeopardize their chances of going through the recruitment process without any hindrances. |
That's N250 per article. Someone puts an effort into writing for you and what do they get? The price of two LaCaseras and one Gala. Come on! N5000 monthly. That's N166 daily. That's not fair. Writers are not beggars. You should treat them right and with respect. Paying them about $0.83 per day is disrespectful. |
sir09 And you think they would accept your CV after displaying this uncivilized attitude? Because I'm not sure Diamond Bank is looking to employ anyone who goes about degrading people and calling them all sorts of names. |
Dahveydson:Why, you're welcome. |
Dahveydson:People applied differently, yes. If you go through the initial pages, you'll find that some submitted to an email address, others at the bank's office, and the rest through a proxy. And these methods all worked. So I can't say which method is best. |
Dahveydson:And I don't understand why it is so hard for you to check those pages yourself. You could've gotten the information by now if you'd just dedicated the time you spent calling people selfish to actually reading the thread. |
Dahveydson:If you say so. Good luck with your application. ![]() |
kaka22:I don't think anyone is being selfish. I think people are just tired of repeating themselves. If you took the time to go through this thread from the very first page, you will have your answer. |
cuteguy007:Well I wish you good luck. ![]() |
cuteguy007:Congratulations, brother. If you do not mind sharing, what date is your interview set for? - Thanks. |
cuteguy007 I took my test this morning in Lagos. |
bibikaz:I didn't share the thread for the link (the links all lead to the career pages of the different banks listed, not practice questions like you thought). The outline listed is enough for anyone to work with. - To be honest, I don't see any reason to make a fuss about the test. Like Parisfran said, if you know it, you know it. - I wish you good luck with your test. |
tollyB:Well this thread (https://www.nairaland.com/2300976/sample-aptitude-test-format-nigerian) helped me a great deal. The only difference is the Numerical Reasoning and Verbal Reasoning sections both had 20 questions, and the Critical Reasoning section had 10 questions. But the most important thing to note is to be calm. The Numerical Reasoning section was tricky, I'll be honest. But do not let that trouble you. Do not spend too much time on any question you find difficult. The other sections were quite easy. - I wish you the best with your test. |
I just got contacted by Diamond Bank via text message. I was successful in the test. Anyone else? |
chiclas28 It's Diamond Bank. And you just posted your information on a public platform. |
seun uboma davide470 Please take a look at my conversation with Philadelphia. It starts on the previous page and ends here. And during the time, he's broken quite a number of rules. One of them is sharing false information; apparently he seems so hell bent on ruining my image on Nairaland. And I'm not surprised, with my witty retorts to his petty replies and the support I garnered from putting this person in his place, it's no wonder he is still bitter. But I cannot be bothered. I'd just rather you put this fellow on a leash. You cannot have nuisances running around trying to ruin the Nairaland experience for everyone, can you? Thanks. ![]() |

adedee14:I've been sending my CV continuously for some time now and I guess I just got lucky. |
I just got invited for a test via text message. Is there anyone who did too? |
donhils:Yes, both glass and metal. And I really do not understand why they've chosen to include glass and metal in the designs of their smartphones. Even the new generation of Galaxy A series to be released soon might spot a similar design (the new A7 at least; I don't think they'd go that far with the new A3 and A5). Although the design is quite pretty, I think including glass is totally unnecessary as it only takes one nasty drop for your phone's design to be dented. |
dumo1:They recently started making phones with aluminium bodies/sides. The Galaxy A series all come in a full metal bodies. The Galaxy E series has metal sides, and so does the Galaxy Alpha; although their backs are made out of plastic. And the Galaxy S6 as well as the Galaxy Note 5 also come in metal bodies. So there you have it, problem solved. |
Samakus:You think they would show now that they've been made to eat their words? I doubt that. I should add though, that in your eagerness to find a job, do not fall for fraudsters. Sometimes when we want things so desperately, we tend to be blind to their faults. It is what happened here and it's quite understandable. To avoid this however, you should make your research about any company you are suspicious about before swallowing their lies. I wish you good luck with your job search. ![]() |

are there other links to check out?
