Mouthwatering tie. Its the only semi-final there is for me. I'm quite sure Barca will do it over two legs. There's a surprise waiting for Man U in Nou Camp. THey won't know what hit them. Messi is going to cut inside Evra, confuse Vidic and slam it to the left corner of the post.

I know. I saw it in my dreams. 3-1 to Barca after Etoo and Iniesta finish it up.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Barcelona Fans Thread by crazylegs(m): 9:19am On Apr 18, 2008
Real won in 2000 and the did not make top 4 in Spain, Liverpool won in 2005 they did not make top 4 in EPL, Can you confidently say Porto was the best team in 2004? Cos Real beat them home and away in groupss and If not for Scholes disallowed goal . Who Knows what would have become of Mourinho.
Thank you my brother. I also had 2000 in mind. I sort of feel history is on Barca's side.

Barca is going to the finals. Not because Man U. is not a great team. They are. But simply because Barca has more quality. This is not the Premiership. Thats the mistake Man U. fans are making. Man U. has not met a team of Barca's quality yet. Roma and Lyon are OK but. . .

U1:
I dey fear Manchester United oooo.
You should. Its normal. The mistake Man U. could make is not to fear Barca. Big mistake.

LiteratureRe: How Many Secondary Students Have Heard Read Chimamanda's Novel ! by crazylegs(m): 1:20pm On Apr 17, 2008
The culprits are Cable TV and video games. Its much more fun to play video games than read. If I had as much TV growing up as they do now I really don't think I'll even have finished from school.

I don't even know if Chimamanda's books are meant for kids. I cant blame them for not having read any. But Cyprian Ekwensi and co. . . they are missing a lot

I also don't know if parents bother buying books for their kids. Buying books and limiting time spent in front of the TV will surely help.
ComputersRe: Amd Turion 64 X2 Vs Intel Duo Core Processors by crazylegs(m): 1:37pm On Apr 16, 2008
Hi. More details would have been useful as regards brands and prices. Obviously not all laptop brands deliver the same quality.

If price is not an issue with you, go for the Core 2 Duo. I think it will give better performance. Its however likely to be more expensive.

You can see an earlier nairaland thread for more details.

https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-118121.0.html

One big pro for the core 2 duo is that its supposed to be more energy efficient. The biggest advantage the turion has is price. Its usually much cheaper. Its also more than sufficient for most people's needs.
PoliticsRe: Nigeria Is Bad - Nigeria Is Bad - What Is Bad About Nigeria Than Other Countries by crazylegs(m): 4:34pm On Apr 15, 2008
Don't quite agree. People often move back simply because they feel more respected here. You may be comfortable and relatively successful outside the country, but here in Naija, you really at home. You can shout in the middle of the road if you want. If things are really tight you can take a piss in a corner.

I have to admit that its not really easy to feel perfectly at home outside Nigeria no matter how comfortable I may be.

@ topic
I'm one of those that badmouth Nigeria a lot. Things are bad: Crime, corruption and a lot of laziness. Its not patriotism to not see the obvious. Just go to Ghana for a week and on coming back to Naija you'll realise how wretched things are. To fix things you have to admit they are bad first
SportsRe: Manchester United's Ronaldo Vs Barca's Messi by crazylegs(m): 4:26pm On Apr 15, 2008
Messi is warming up. He should be 85% fit for the Semis. He'll probably play for a half this weekend.

I think he's more important to Barca at the moment than Ronaldo is to Man U. Ronaldo is awesome, but Man U. can win without him. When Messi is not on the pitch Barca has often deflated. Most of the matches we have lost have been without him.

Mark my words. If Messi plays in Nou Camp, he will be remembered by Man U. Fans for a long time.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Barcelona Fans Thread by crazylegs(m): 9:52am On Apr 14, 2008
Check that shudder. You could have gotten a cold, or it might just be fear. grin

OK, OK. I got a bit carried away. Ronaldinho, Deco and Henry will almost surely be leaving next season. They have a lot to do with the problems of FCB now.

I'll admit the obvious: on form Man U. should blow Barca away. My only point is that Barca has a much better squad. Carrick Vs Xavi. Inesta Vs Scholes. No contest. Scholes is good but he's getting old.

How did Milan beat Man U. last season? Tight midfield, holding possession and bursting forward with Kaka's speed. Barca can do just that. Iniesta, Xavi and Toure can do the midfield Messi, Etoo and even Henry have the speed and can score the goals. Barca is going through a bad moment, but the quality is still there.

Man U. is expecting a bloodbath. But they are in for a surprise.

PS
I know they drew with Recre over the weekend. But thats la liga. Its a different matter. wink We have to do something about Valdes.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: Manchester United Fan thread: Forever Reds by crazylegs(m): 2:22pm On Apr 10, 2008
@Jackal
On a more serious note. No one is underestimating Man U. They've been looking awesome for some time now. They really haven't looked back since their first hiccups at the beginning of the season. But you chaps also have a pretty short memory. Man U were supposed to run a fragile and aging AC Milan ragged last season and they were shell shocked. The same will happen this year.

Barca is actually the team that people are underestimating. They've been underperforming all season but the quality is still there. Underestimate Henry, Etoo, Messi, Xavi and Iniesta at your peril. Who even knows, this bobo, whats that his name again, , . eh heh -Ronaldinho might even feel a bit motivated and shake off his phantom injury.

Form comes and goes but real quality is eternal

And i believe Evra is up to the task of marking Messi
Moreover a tree doesn't make a forest
Who mentioned tree. I said MESSI! grin Evra is good but will have his work cut out. I guarantee you he'll won't have time to be making any runs upfront.

Technology MarketRe: Can I Get Tokumbo Laptot 4 20k by crazylegs(m): 1:34pm On Apr 10, 2008
I think the lowest you can get a tokunbo laptop for is 50k. Anything lower than that is likely to catch fire after using it for more than 45mins. Its better to cough up a bit more and get something that will last at least a year or so.

With 60k you can get something thats very basic but sufficient for simple word processing, browsing and maybe even watching VCDs. I would suggest at least a PIII.

You might be able to get a tokunbo desktop for the 20k you mentioned. I don't really know. Check computer village in Ikeja.

Be prepared for insults when you mention 20k as you budget. grin grin Just bone.

BLOOD OF JESUS! huh Amodu as the new coach? Its a lie?!

Infact, I now believe that our FA is truly a No Future Ambition (NFA) organisation.
They should change the name of that body. NFA is totally a disgrace to Nigeria.

This is a time we should be thinking only about World Class coaches who have
proved themselves. I don't know what Amodu has achieved in his life.
For me, no Nigerian coach except Siasia is world class enough.
You are right. Its a lie. No coach has been appointed yet. I don't even think Amodu was on the shortlist. The list should be out today.

Barca fans u are not saying anything about this. waiting for you to analyse yesterday's match. Love n miss you all .ope 2 see u online later.
Man U. has a great team. But fanaticism aside I still think Barca is better. We have Etoo, Henry, Messi, Xavi, Iniesta, maybe even Ronaldinho and Deco if they are in the mood.

They should be the ones intimidated. UCL final: Barcelona Vs Chelsea.

Don't be so sure. Drogs is likely to leave in the summer. Sounds like AC Milan. A Henry-Anelka combination upfront could be deadly oh. Anyway Henry is leaving Barca in the Summer and wants to go back to England to be close to his daughter. He'll want to go to a "big" club, preferably in London. Sounds very much like Chelsea, unless Arsenal wants him back.

He still has a lot of soccer in him.

All sorts of people are predicting Rjikaard's departure. The current favourite is Pep Guardiola. He was an inspirational midfielder for Barca in the 90s. Part of the famous "Dream Team"

He was a very similar player to Rjikaard. He's Barca born, bred and buttered. Also very smart and a born leader (as a player he was the team captain). I think he has the passion and fire that this current Barca lacks.

Maybe a total overhaul is not such a bad idea. Starting from Rjikaard.

The reason why i buy pirated CD's-

3) I want to be surprised by the contents of the CD itself for example JAYZ's black album would have AWILO LOGOMBA as TRACK 2 and ORITS WILIKI as TRACK 3!
Kai! Orits Wiliki!!! What a pleasant surprise! grin grin

I would really feel like an idiot spending 3k for something I could get at N200. If I had to spend 3k for each CD I'd most probably have a collection of 2CDs

I think there are less excuses for buying pirated CDs of Nigerian Artistes. The difference is not all that much. They could do with the motivation

Its a nice start. By the way BTT did a very thorough job. Very professional.

There are slight grammatical errors here and there, but thats normal. A good re-reading and editing should take care of them.

I think you have a nice narrative style and could spend more time on describing people, character portrayal and so on. I imagine the meeting place is dark and creepy. Put us in that atmosphere. I felt there was too much conversation without any background to it. Anyhow this depends on the genre you are looking at. I imagine its a thriller.

On the whole very nice.

Yep. Pein is right. You can also set it to do it whenever you quit firefox.

Go to the menu bar and then click on Tools and then Options. Click on the Privacy tab and then ask it to "Always clear my private data when I close firefox". Under settings you can tell choose which of the data it habitually deletes.

Firefox rocks.
SportsRe: Next Fifa Player Of The Year, Messi by crazylegs(m): 9:58am On Apr 04, 2008
I think the determining factor in winning the FIFA player of the year award is Titles. The higher the title, the greater your chances.

Often, the outstanding player in the team that wins the major tournament in a given year, takes it. Hence Cannavaro in 2007, just after the world cup. Earlier there had been shouts about defenders not winning it. It was partially "political". Fair play to Cannavaro, he had an incredible tournament.

This year it has to be C. Ronaldo. He's been simply great in Man U. and they are going to take the prem. Its true that Barca will trash them in the semis of the UCL grin but he's been great till now and will shine in the Eurocup. For Sure.

I used to think that Messi was heads and heels above him, but fan of Messi that I am, I'm beginning to have doubts. Ronaldo is showing that he's much more than fancy leg overs. He's improving before our very eyes and will likely improve even more.

@deola1
I hate the premiership but I think we'll just give it to one of their players this year. They've been crybabys till now. At least its not an Englishman grin grin

Heres mine

The price of freedom

The scream took me by surprise. It wasn’t especially loud or piercing but had a peculiar expressiveness that plays in my mind to this day. Sheer agony.

His eyes were worse. “Please in the name of all you hold sacred: Don’t do it.” But I steeled my heart. No more oppression. I was going to be free. My grip tightened on the knife.

“Free at last!” Some frantic slashes and my shirt and mouth were stained deep red.

“I’m sorry Francesco.” But nobody was going to tell me how to eat. If I wanted to cut my spaghetti I would.
LiteratureWrite Your Own Very Own "drabble". by crazylegs(op): 1:55pm On Apr 03, 2008
A "drabble" is a very, very short piece of fiction. It should be about 100 words long. I just read a couple online and decided to write one. Took longer than expected. Why don't you put yours up here? It could be fun

I promise I won't sell any! grin
TV/MoviesRe: Filmmakers You Admire? by crazylegs(m): 10:09am On Apr 02, 2008
1. M. Night Bit stale now, but used to make awesome films.

2. Scorsese Been around for a very long time and still makes great movies. Good Fellas is ONE GREAT MOVIE. Can watch it forever

3. Judd Apatow Currently makes the funniest movies around: 40 year old Virgin, Knocked up,

4. Frank Darabont Shawshank Redemption, Green Mile

5. John Woo Face Off, Windtalkers, MI2. I like action grin

6. David Fincher Just because he gave the world Fight Club. Hasn't done any other useful thing.

Don't particularly like Nigerian films. I saw Amazing Grace. The story was flat, but it has BY FAR the best Cinematography I have seen in a Nigerian Film. It was very well done by Nigerian standards. We need to put money in Nigerian films to make them work.

We haven't qualified yet. But we can feel more at ease.

I made you an offer of Ronaldinho. As a measure of good faith I think you should give us Gatusso in return. We need a hard, determined man like him.
