@dayokanu The Spanish team is not as similar to the Portuguese as people make out. The Spanish midfield is much more of a ball-holding team. They don't rely as much on the wings. They can pass the ball forever until a space is made. And there are plenty spaces in the German defence. This team certainly has more spine than others. I think Germany is an easier team for them to play than Italy. The Germans are determined, fast and all. But what if they don't even see the ball? Frings is still injured and he is the best ball-winner they have. |
Its better to light a candle than curse the darkness. maedan:Thought I was the only one that liked that one. Not a Kenny Rogers fan but I also like the one that goes: Sometimes you have to fight to be a man. |
Tonye had been crying all-day. Jnr. cried without understanding much. Upset that Daddy was so dull, he hated the wires that tied him down. However, he was fascinated by the beeping television with the lines. Wale KNEW it would be over soon and tried to pray. He couldn’t concentrate; oddly thinking of cold beers and suya. A sudden shiver and the lines Jnr. was watching flattened out. Wale found himself outside himself, looking at them. The chap-with-the-wings encouraged him. “They’ll be fine. Let’s go.” Wale glanced at him quizzically and the chap smiled, “Yes, the Heineken's cold.” Wale was good-to-go. DISCLAIMER I do not work for NB PLC. This story is pure fiction and does not reflect the author's views regarding the afterlife. ![]() |
Dino Baggio said something that made me shiver. "If the Spaniards haven't beaten us in a competitive match for 88, years its for some reason" Truth be said I'm shaking a bit. The Italians are experts at winning without playing exceptionally well. Las rojas on the other had have broken my heart plenty. I think it has to be Senna. Alonso isn't as strong defensively and the central defense like you said is shaky. I also think Villa and Torres will start. They are without a doubt the strike partnership of the tournament. They both bring different strengths. Aragones should stick with the team that started against Russia. If Spain scores first they have a chance, otherwise they are in trouble. Thank God for Pirlo's suspension. That guy dey fear me! |
Rather quiet around here. Pep Guardiola has made his first signing: Emmanuel Adebayor God save us! I thought Villa was the man. The chap is practically begging to be signed by Barca or Madrid.Still. I hear he's interested in Hleb. Now that's mouth-watering. Hleb on the left and Messi on the Right. I'm drooling. |
I'm one of the proud 8million users to download Firefox 3 (world record for most downloads in 24h blah blah.)Personal 2 cents: Its marginally faster and better looking. Nice new icons. But I'll still customise it with themes Excerpts From CNET's review http://reviews.cnet.com/browsers/firefox-3/4505-3514_7-33087853.html With its new Gekko 1.9 engine, the browser rocks, rendering pages faster and uses fewer system resources overall. As with any new browser, some add-ons created for Firefox 2 may not work, but give them time. Firefox 3 touts faster rendering, a vastly reduced use of system resources, and clever new data-mining tools for your bookmarks and browser history. Most notable is that Firefox 3 includes many security-related features baked right in, such as the best of breed antiphishing protection, making Firefox the most secure browser on the market today. If you haven't already tried Firefox, what are you waiting for? Firefox 3 remains our Editors' Choice over Microsoft Internet Explorer and Opera. S Firefox 3 is free, and available on a variety of operating systems: Windows, Mac, and Linux. Unlike IE 7, Firefox 3 does not require a system reboot. The interface is the same in some places, but different in others. Placement of buttons hasn't changed, but the icons are new. Firefox 3 now provides a native look and feel (for example, the Linux version matches the Linux user interface), and smooth scrolling of open browser tabs. What will draw the eye are more icons near and within the address bar itself. A company logo, if available, will appear before the URL; after the URL there's the new one-click bookmark star and the familiar RSS icon. Other tweaks include those to the Password manager, Add-Ons manager, and Download manager. Most exciting among the brand new features is the improved rendering speed thanks to the new Gekko 1.9 engine. Firefox 3 passes the Acid2 Browser Test, along with Safari 3 and Opera 9. The test, designed by the Web Standards Project, is designed to encourage designers to follow HTML and CSS 2.0 specifications. Currently Internet Explorer 7 does not pass, but Microsoft says Internet Explorer 8 is expected to follow Web specifications. Firefox 3 will no longer support Windows 95, 98, and Me; the same with Mac OS X, versions 10.2 and earlier. One obvious change is the Smart Location Bar (aka "awesome bar" . As you type in a URL, the awesome bar searches through your history and bookmarks and presents a drop-down list of recently accessed pages with that same keyword. It works even if you already know the URL. Some people have found it to be annoying (me for example), so there is a way to disable it requiring a small tweak to the about:config file. Also new is Full Page Zoom. Unlike Opera, Firefox hides the Zoom feature within the View toolbar option and doesn't increment: just big or small. Hopefully Mozilla will refine this feature in Firefox 4. Another enhancement is within the Download Manager. Mozilla has added search and improved the ability to start and resume downloads. There are also numerous security features such as Malware and Phishing protection, Instant Web site ID, support for the Extended Validation Secure Socket Layer (EV SSL), enhancements to the Password manager, and greater security for Add-Ons. As for performance, Firefox 3 does significantly reduce the amount of system resources used when compared with Firefox 2. That alone makes Firefox 3 a worthy upgrade. But wait, there's more. Following Firefox 3 comes early word of Firefox 3.1. Features expected within the next incremental release include tab previews and autocomplete for tagging bookmarks. An Alpha for Firefox 3.1 is expected to be available sometime in July 2008. |
texazzpete:Been using it since yesterday. Pretty cool. Most of my add-ons work (except Minimise to tray and I think I can survive without it for now). I think its a bit faster (nothing mind-blowing). But then I'm very suggestible. THe major speed difference is in tab-switching which used to be a bit slow in 2.** (at least on my machine). The interface is a bit different and I think the rendering is a bit better: some of the pages I view often (my company website for example) actually seem nicer. One thing I really hate are the "smart" bookmarks and autofills. Its a very personal thing. When typing in web addresses it tries to make all sorts of suggestions. Very irritating,. . . well to me at least. I've killed it. I think its better and everyone who can should upgrade, but its not mind-blowing. |
Always offline when the fun stuff happens. A 3-page fight and a very mushy make-up. Touching. . . @ayinba 1 very nice stuff. I like |
I really haven't followed Toni's Bayern form but I know he scored a lot of goals. Looking again at the France-Italy match its obvious he should be first-choice striker. He was a threat throughout. For the penalty, he just killed Pirlo's pass. Class. . . He gets into great positions that other strikers won't but he doesn't finish. Too many near misses. Very confusing I guess he at least causes the opposition a lot of trouble. |
If you just need it for schooling I'd recommend a Basic Compaq. They are cheaper and reasonably good. Pentium dual core, 120-160GB Hard Disk and 1-2GB RAM In the US you could get that for about $500-600. In Nigeria it should be about 100k in Lagos. If its just for school you'll just be needing something for word processing and other simple stuff. This is more than sufficient. If you are an archi or engineering student you may need a bit more |

Fergurson and Man U are two things in football I have consistently hated over time. Really don't know why. I just hate English soccer. But Fergie is now definitely one of the all-time greats. . . if only he would stop chewing gum like a demented farmer. He's won everything there is to win in Club soccer and has dominated English soccer for long stretches. @ Euro '08 Italy can definitely win the tournament. If they play Holland again I'm sure it will be a different story. The traditional teams always have an edge and truth be told, Germany don't look all that convincing. My head says Italy, my heart Spain. @Hustler Spain is my team and I've decided to pray and fast. Those wretched Italian teams KNOW how to cage Spanish flair any day of the week. And both Spain and Italy know it. Abeg help me beg your people. Una don win Euro tire. Allow boys na ![]() I will not eat meat until we win. |

The tingling at the back of my neck told me something wasn’t right. Entering my flat after a hard day it was pitch black, but I sensed there were nine of them and where they stood. Blood would flow but none of it would be mine. In a swift motion I whipped my Beretta92 and started firing. I didn’t need to put on the lights. I’m that bad. . . Flicking on the lights I stared blankly at “Surprise! Happy Birthday!” banners. . . and a freaking BIRTHDAY CAKE! I’m no genius but I knew something was wrong. . . P.S. Clap for me. I actually got it to 100 words. ![]() |
maedan:Thank you Maedan. Tell them whats up. Er. . . but since I started the thread I'm the only one allowed to break the rule I was actually going to put one that was 150 words before I saw your post . Its been whittled down to 110. Any more whittling and it would disappear. Just this twice |
stillwater:Was wondering myself. Maybe Jaymobb is the dream guy. . . .@ Maedan So you like sci-fi. So do I. It should be fun trying something like that. |
dayokanu:I also agree. You really can't predict till the group stages are over. Spain is one of the favourites and the team I support, but I know beating Russia 4-1 means absolutely nothing. But Germany didn't look too good. (Sorry dayokanu ). They deserved to lose. Its hard to see them winning when faced with a Portugal or Holland. |
Aragones prefers Iniesta to Fabregas in his starting line-up because Iniesta can play down the flank reasonably well, while Fabregas can only play in the central midfield. . . where Xavi currently rules. Its only a matter of time before Fabregas dethrones Xavi, maybe even in this tournament. But until then he'll keep being a sub. I'm sure Fabregas who is younger has even played more games than Iniesta. If Iniesta is now prefered and you guys think its because of experience, ill say NOFabregas has played more games but he often comes in as a sub while Iniesta has more first team starts and has scored a few more goals. Iniesta is more of a utility player than Fabregas which is why he's playing. Aragones is seriously tempted to play Xavi and Fabregas in the centre but that'll really weaken them defensively. Fabregas will only start if they are playing a lone striker: Torres. And after what Villa did yesterday, I don't see that happening. |
Can you imagine people who cannot even take care of simple oil pipelines being entrusted with a nuclear reactor? Are you kidding me There'll be only 12 Nigerians left after a week and they'll all have three arms or some other deformity.Independent Power Projects based on simple and available fossil fuels like COAL. Germany, industrial powerhouse that it is uses coal for 70% of its electricity. We should aim high but not get above ourselves. Even gas is a serious problem for us with the complications that come from its transportation. We need to make it easier for foreign companies to invest in this area. They will make their money and we can use the electricity for our badly needed industrialisation. We need power. Generators are not enough. |
Cesc is a sub simply because Xavi is a more complete, experienced and cool-headed player, . . . for now. His ball distribution is second to none. He's one of the smartest players I've seen. But Fabregas, Torres and Silva are the future of Spain. Fabregas will surely be much better than Xavi in a couple of years. Thats saying a lot. SPAIN is an awesome team to watch. But they generally crumble after a spectacular group stage campaign. |
My head says Germany, but I'd really like Spain to win. They definitely have the team. Imagine a team that has Fabregas as a sub. The mind boggles |
I don't think you can use yahoo.com with outlook. POP3 is only enabled with their paid service: yahoo plus. (yahoo must chop now). If you really want to use outlook as your mail client I recommend gmail.com. Its the best. Lean and mean. On the gmail page they have instructions on how to configure outlook. Let me know if you have problems. |
Lovely stories all. Moved me to get off my fat ass and write another one. Will definitely come back more. A fresh start And to believe that just a month ago Anne was sure she’d found the meaning of her life. Timi was everything she ever dreamt of and more. Kind, gentle and with his quirky sense of humour he lit her entire day up with just one smile. But all that changed in an instant; with those words she felt she’d regret all her life, “I’m pregnant”. The picture she’d forever retain of him was that of a raging monster. But she felt no hatred. Not towards him or even the new life she now felt prodding her from within, almost teasingly. Her jaw set. “It’s just you and me now.” And an eternal bond was formed. |
@iice you seem to be a fan of this Kellerman chap. Is he very good? |
Anna Karenina. Leo Tolstoy Been reading it for over a year. Someone I respect a lot recommended it. I hope to finish it before I die. Backup book: No Country for old men- Cormac McCarthy. Liked the film and decided to try the book. |
Men! 4-1 after doing a guard of honor for those cows. Barcelona's crap season reached its crappy peak. I'm absolutely gutted. The worst thing is that I don't know what went wrong apart from Ronaldinho. Morale was so bad.I seriously still think the team is good, but serious changes have to be made now. Rijkaard is going already for sure. He's a nice guy but his time is up. Ronaldinho, Deco, Thuram and Zambrotta should follow. We need a motivator/bulldog like Gattuso. |

The match wasn't what was expected but the good thing is that it leaves EVERYTHING to play for in OT. Rjikaard saw the match was not going anywhere so he decided not to risk Messi unnecessarily. I think he had his eye on OT all the while. Wise decision. Without him, Barcelona has no chance. A more open Man U. is what we need. Barca kept the ball. They didn't try hard enough to score. They haven't scored much in while so they are still rebuilding confidence. I don't doubt they can get an away goal in OT. With an away goal things will change: a lot. Keep an eye on Henry as well. OT will definitely motivate him. |
stillwater:LOL. Sorry na mistake I make. The match I dreamt about was in Old Trafford. Thats the second leg. Which is your team? Hope I'm not talking to the enemyBarca played much better. But its not over yet. Man U was supposed to beat us home and away abi? The surprise is still waiting. ituen:Men I tire oh. When Vidic returns the thing will only become tougher. I'm just counting on the Henry Factor. He's not been himself all season but returning to OT might just give him an extra spark. |
Jackal.:ROFL. Carrick can only be a star in the premiership. In Nou Camp he should be humble and patient and learn how quality midfielders play in civilised leagues. He'll definitely pick a thing or two from Iniesta and Xavi. ![]() |

I thought Villa was the man. The chap is practically begging to be signed by Barca or Madrid.
