The three days was calculated based on Jewish tradition. In Jewish tradition, once it's 3pm, you have entered a new day.

Now Jesus died on Friday morning (First day).

By Friday evening (from 3pm), he entered the second day.

Saturday (from 3pm onwards) is a another new day ie the 3rd day.

That is why in Catholic, the Allelua can be sung any moment from Saturday 3pm because it's the 3rd day and Christ rose on the 3rd day.

Note Saturday 3pm to Sunday 2:59pm is the within the range of the third day and Easter canbe celebrated within any of these hours.

If the Bible said three days and three nights, it meant three full days.

This makes it impossible that Jesus died on Friday, and rose on Sunday. If Jesus died in the 9th hour (3pm) on Friday, resurrecting on Sunday would make it 2 days (2 full days if he resurrected in the 9th hour on Sunday). And He didn't resurrect at 3pm, except maybe on Saturday. And the Bible did not make it seem so. The Bible makes it seem like it was sundown (on Saturday) or dawn on Sunday before Mary Magdalene got to the tomb.
