A player get 5 assists in 2 games and you are talking rubbish. lol
some people sef.
Basketball na football? SMH!

What's vexing you naw? lol. I was just going with A-40's comparison.

I'm not saying Hazard isn't Mr. Awesome; I'm saying y'all should not ignore the guy's flaw 'cos it was quite obvious 'n could come back to bite y'all in the butt.

E be like say him just dey wind us for Charity shield abi na Community shield! Dude was om some Lebron ish! Full beast mode

LeBron doesn't miss like Hazard did....5 good balls into the stands, remember.

Not to rain on the Hazard parade, but I think it's kinda insincere the way his blurry goalscoring vision tonight is being conveniently swept under the rug.

Was gonna tease Hazard for the 5 wasted chances, but he more than made up with his assists and good thinking.

Shaky defending, but good fight.

What a way to put an end to it.
Beautiful!

At least Torres has gotten himself on the score sheet, for all his flaws.
Meireles must have copied his hairstyle from his favorite racehorse.

Hazard fires his shot straight at the guy in yellow. grin Number 5.

Mata misses a second lovely chance.

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Champions Of Europe 2021 by Cristalz(f): 8:10pm On Aug 22, 2012
Surprising that you don't have your club's go-to guy for penalties and free-kicks on your team.
Lamps was always a must for moi.

Hazard's final ball has gone awry twice now.

Reading equalizes.

@A-40
To be fair Scholes did retire, remember, but then United called him back when that injury emergency happened.
Apparently Fergie believes both guys still have something to contribute on the pitch so there doesn't seem to be a chance of his asking either of 'em to retire...not this season at least.

Besides, how do you ask a player like Ryan Giggs (considering his history) to retire? Sacrilege grin grin
I figure it's up to the men themselves to realize that they'd be better off as coaches now and voluntarily step down.

Somehow I doubt that Fergie would offer 'em increased wages to convince 'em to stay on and play. grin
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Cristalz(f): 10:16pm On Aug 21, 2012
In other news. . .
Buttner completes his move, and United acquire 18-year old striker Angelo Henriquez of Chile.

In addition, Nani and Rooney played in MF for most of the game, adding to the horror story of an already bad middle.
Welbeck was shyte, no argument.

What 'job' did the midfield fail to do? Did the terrible performances of Welbeck, Nani and Rooney occur in midfield?

Oh sweetie, I read sarcasm just fine, thank you.

@Debo
Seems you followed the game via audio only. cheesy grin
The MF was as sluggish as the swamps of Mississippi, which was why Rooney became a midfielder/defender for all of first half and part of the second.

Still doesn't excuse his poor showing in 2nd half when he went up front, but the point is, the MF sucked and strikers depend on them.
It's not just about possession; creativity, flair, solid thinking (and whatever else you wanna add) also come into it.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Cristalz(f): 9:23pm On Aug 21, 2012
A-40:

@Cristalz
Why can't Fergie just retire those old muchachos? Scholes and Giggs! Their mate Pippo Inzaghi is already coaching juniors at Milan

They may be old but they aren't completely dead.
Heck, England called on Giggs to play with dem babies at the Olympics. That says something, doesn't it?
They've still got stuff to give and if they want to, I say let 'em. grin
I admit Scholes is waning with each passing day, but we love the guy, yellows 'n all. grin

@Starboard
Still not used to referring to you as Starboard. smiley
Young is no fraud, come on. He still makes solid contributions when his football head is screwed on right.

I'm not giving the subs (Ando, Young 'n RVP) much blame 'cos everyone else around them was playing shyte. What magic were they supposed to perform??
Going by performance, if it were possible, everyone shoulda been subbed except De Gea.

We all know Nani cannot cross to save his mama's life...nothing new there.
But he scores, and that's a fact. Hez got pace and is still an asset on the wings. So he had a bad game last night; who didn't?
I don't think its fair to come down so hard on the dude for that.
I know I'm not ready to see Nani go anywhere just yet.

For those blaming Cleverley's shitty performance on Scholes, I beg y'all to quit calling rats mice.
Was Scholes the only midfielder present? Did Fellaini not singlehandedly (for the most part) outshine his teammates? So what exactly are you guys saying?
When a guy wants to play, he locates those who are ready to ball or does the job himself.
Cleverley simply had no game. End of story.
Anyone saying otherwise is just being sentimental and in football, sacrificing reality for sentiment mostly gets you nowhere.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Cristalz(f): 10:56pm On Aug 20, 2012
montelik:

Isn't that how Carrick plays for us. nothing flashy, just retain possession, distribute the ball well and cover & tackle when required, you barely notice him. same for cleverley tonight, unlike Scholes who was a liability without possession and useless with it.

No, that is not how Carrick plays for us.
You notice a player when he is working...that's how we get MOTM. When you don't even realize a dude's present, hez napping.
Scholes had an uncoordinated 'n poor game. Cleverley simply had no game.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Cristalz(f): 10:52pm On Aug 20, 2012
A-40:
I always say this if Nani is going to have a good game you would know within the first 30mins. That aside what I saw was almost Arsenalesque! Horizontal passes in the final edge without no conviction or cutting edge. Aside from the corner kick I am not sure I saw Van Pasee the rest of the match

You guys should organize a testimonial for Scholes already! What the feck is he still doing for yall?

Kagawa would need a strong counter-attacking game to flourish sadly Everton packed the bus right after the goal rendering Kagawa useless

We'll let him go when he learns to get thru 2 games in a row without a yellow grin

I agree with the highlighted observation. Was pretty annoying.
Twaz a poor showing on everyone's part, apart from RVP, De Gea, Ando and Young.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Cristalz(f): 10:45pm On Aug 20, 2012
afrodoc: no steel in midfield(playing 2 attack minded players in central midfield),4 central defenders already injured, over elaboration in play, playing far far too narrow.
the positives were kagawa and de gea.also offensively valencia is zero as a fullback.

That was my main grievance.
With all the holes in the team Fergie was trying to plug, he shoulda played to the team's general strength--width.
Okay, let's say he believed it was gonna be a tight MF battle hence the formation, but things went wrong early enough for changes to have been made.
Sometimes you need to just go with your gut and not overthink things.

For those having spasms over RVP, again I say let the dude be.
That MF was messed up way before he came in and there was nothing he could do about it. He isn't a magician.
Any blame laid at his feet tonight is simply unfair and maybe biased.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Arsenal Fans Thread: Finally Reborn! The Red & White Army: FA CUP Champions 2020 by Cristalz(f): 10:26pm On Aug 20, 2012
No, y'all did not sell a fake.
The game had gone south way before RVP came on. Therez nothing he coulda done solo.
So many things were already wrong and the boi's not a magician.

In fact I think the United squad owe him an apology. cheesy grin
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Cristalz(f): 10:18pm On Aug 20, 2012
montelik:

He did well but considering Scholes as midfield partner is a minus one, he was overwhelmed. Scholes could have been sent off with his poor tackling and persistent fouling.
I'm telling you I honestly didn't notice the guy for at least 10 minutes into the game. grin
He was in a catatonic state half the time. Why do you think he got subbed?
Scholes was poor but at least he wasn't catatonic.

Gosh, I'm cringing at the terms I'm having to use. Really bad performance.
