37 years? Its very possible but highly unlikely given the monumental problems Nigeria is facing.

what of the northern statehuhhuhhuh
Northern Nigeria will be significantly less developed than the rest of the country for decades to come and based off current trends the divide will continue to get bigger, sorry.
PoliticsRe: 19 PDP Governors To Decamp To APC- Senator Yerima by CROWE: 5:25pm On Feb 26, 2013
The whole point of APC was to challenge PDP and balance the political system a bit better, if everybody in PDP moves over to APC then we have another mega party which is what APC was supposed to prevent. Its basically PDP under a different tag, wtf is the point, if these PDP people are accepted then APC never had a problem with how PDP ran the country since they would effectively be absorbing PDPs system of government.

Only in Nigeria.

PoliticsRe: Economy On The Brink Of Collapse - ACN Warns by CROWE: 11:45pm On Feb 25, 2013
One_Naira: Didn't ACN say Nigeria has no economy thus indicating that Nigerian economy has long been collapsed, now they change it to the economy is on the brink of collapsing. So which one is it ACN? Is the economy collapsing like you saying now or is it gone like you said before.
Somehow I feel like that is a genuine question. An economic collapse would bring about major civil disorder, you don't need anybody to tell you, when the economy collapses you will know. Whatever they say, remember that they are just taking swipes at PDP so they are going to be a little dramatic, hence the inconsistency in statements made.

O.o

Symphony007: There are soome really robust fools here. Hate and idiocy has clouded their brains from facts. Give me one indication that the nigerian economy is going to crash, one stupid politician called lai mohammed is writting to the finance minister, cbn governour and even the IMF, telling them what they know more than him. If the nigeria economy was on a cliff won't the IMF say something? Considering that we're indebted to them, won't sanusi lamido who without fear told nigerians that the legislature consume 25% of our budget say anything? And some fools here are girating!!
Taking swipes at other political parties and spreading propaganda is what parties do, maybe in 10 or 20 years "the government wants to raise your taxes by 2% or they are not green enough" is what is going to scare Nigerians but for now total disaster is the only thing that gets us out of bed so that is what they will use to try to destabilize PDP.
PoliticsRe: Economy On The Brink Of Collapse - ACN Warns by CROWE: 5:44am On Feb 25, 2013
I am hoping that APC survives to become at least nearly as big as PDP, if they do it will help Nigeria. It puts politicians under pressure to perform if there is a viable replacement out there, someone who will call them out on their failures and is actively watching them for any slip ups.

I will remind you of the mesopatamians, the egyptians, the greeks, the romans, the incas, the aztecs who all thought they will last forever like the present day civilizers thinks. There is nothing new under the sun.The ones that loses out are the ones that failed to get the hint of what it is all about. The Foo.ls.

While primitive Nigeria inhabited by apes like u is at the peak of the destruction of a civilization it never started. Still at its very primitive stage that haven't seen the light of evolution.
America is not at the peak of Civilization, as far as Nation Development goes they are trailing Scandinavia and the Germanic nations. America is the biggest boy, not the most developed, you people allow them to impress you a bit too easily and rossike does have a point even though he is forgetting that Nigeria also has its own murders outside of Boko Haram.

Failed people? Your a bit of a basterd aren't you, don't throw silly words around, there are successful and unsuccessful Nigerians, Nigeria may not so far be a successful nation but keep your useless assumptions to yourself, I would not so far call myself or my siblings failures and last time I checked I was very Nigerian. If you want to generalize it as a collective I believe "a failed people" was what you were going for and the the term "failed state" has already covered that, you don't need to go around making individual people feel bad about themselves. In the same vein this professor is also a basterd, Nigeria is struggling and his contribution is to call us failures, how exactly does that help the nation? Any Idyot with half a brain should offer nothing but patriotism and blind nationalsim, it is what makes nations, vagabond professor.

pato station: This is not Christianity. Spanish inquisition is a well known aspect of Catholicism which claims to be "Christian". You can say "professed Christians". Professed Christians are not necessarily true Christians
Realistically speaking what is a christian? It is not simply someone who believes in God and worships him through Christ? You can chose to distance yourself from them, calling them "professed Christians" but they are Christians and what they do is their own interpretation of what Christ is and taught, it is Christianity and they do what they do in the name of your God.

PoliticsRe: Buhari Can’t Be President–Wayas by CROWE: 4:05pm On Feb 16, 2013
Demdem: And how are u sure that didnt transpired? Was any blood spilled when he was overthrew? was there any form of resistance whatsoever from his part? The bottom line here is we have a general that isnt desperate for power. Thats a fact.
He wasn't desperate for power then, he surely seems desperate for power now. I wonder what changed.

Demdem: Crap. Overthrow of either a military govt or a democratic govt carries the same capital offence when tried which is death. Ur effort to make one better than the other is to me childish. Wayas is talking rubbish. Buhari never initiated any coup but the coupist who were the majority called upon him to take over. Its either u are for them or not (which means death). even if he must die, why should it be for a miserable and corrupt govt headed by Shagari in which Wayas himself was culpable.
I never said what Obasanjo did was acceptable so wtf, we are talking about the irony in wanting to be elected by a democracy after spending the better part of your life abusing the system of government. Also stop feeding us that for or against them bull, Wayas was clearly against and he is still alive also i have never seen anybody point a gun at another person and say "become our master, we force you to leads us", that is quite absurd but it is what you are suggesting. I have been point it out over and over again that this is a topic about acts in relation to democracy and not military coups but you keep talking about how they both overthrew governments, I think you are a least a little stewpid.
PoliticsRe: Buhari Can’t Be President–Wayas by CROWE: 7:24am On Feb 16, 2013
edoyad: Good lord! Please stop ridiculing yourself. Are you saying David mark staged a coup that's why he became a governor? He was appointed as Governor by a Military Junta.

And this is simple logic, a man who spearheaded the Junta that overthrew a Democratically elected Government is now trying to reap from the democratic process. How ironic isn't it?
^This is a nutshell is what Wayas was saying, he wasn't criticizing the coup, he was talking about their actions in relation to democracy. You people need to take a second to understand what someone is saying before you come to conclusions.

nagoma: Rubbish ! Obasanjo participated in more coups than Buhari. The senate president David Mark became the military Governor of Niger State through a military coup. If all of them now want democracy that's fine and we want to know who has Nigeria at heart and not the weak minded whose immediate and only ambition is personal material wealth.
But then what is the reason you have to believe that Buhari has Nigerias interests at heart? It is true that many of them abused our democracy in the past, it doesn't mean it is ok just because there were a lot of them, we are not running low on people who never did those things so why should we accept those who did? Also, be advised that I am not defending Wayas, I was just explaining where he was coming from and at the end of the day I would love to level some questions at Buhari, I am open minded of course and if in the coming months he convinces me that he is learned and driven enough I could vote for him but not right now.
PoliticsRe: Buhari Can’t Be President–Wayas by CROWE: 5:03am On Feb 16, 2013
nagoma: You are really ignorant of Nigerias history. Obasanjo was Murtala's second in command because they overthrew Gowon when Murtala was assassinated obasanjo automatically became the head of state.

Again, what is wrong with Nigerians? I never said Obasanjo wasn't part of a coup, I said he never participated in a coup and then took the presidency for himself, which is what DemDem was saying. Then I explained what happened everytime he became president, after Gowon it was Murtala Mohammed who became president and there is not really enough to associate Abachas death with Obasanjo.

As for the attempt to overthrow Abacha everybody knows that obasanjo was leading such a plan and did make the attempt. That is why he was inprisoned by Abacha. Only God knows how many coups he was involved in. Dont, give us that crap about stepping aside for democratic government. Was his third term bid not a failed coup?
Please, lets not be retards here, coup for third term against himself? If you are going to equalize words randomly lemme know so I can go argue with more rational people.

Demdem: These are coup plotters who are in the majority. U are either for them or against them which may lead to death. Even if the general was to die, it surely won't be for the miserable, corrupt Shagari govt. Buhari wasn't desperate for power and that explains why it was very easy to boot him out by those who called upon him to govern.
Didn't want it when gave it to him, also didn't want it when it was taking away then why didn't they just ask him to step down? Don't try to feed me bad beef

aurenflani: It is a blatant lie. Buhari was made the head of state but he was not even among the coupists.
Demdem: [s][/s]

Complete crap. Ur effort to distort fact fell flat on ur face. It's on record that Buhari never initiated any coup. He was called upon to lead the govt after IBB and co decided to flush the shagari govt out.

Even if Obj never sent a democratic govt packing, its still on record that him and murtala are coup plotters also. Afterall, they overthrew an existing govt. That was my argument.
Yes but this is not your argument, it is Wayas argument. He has no issue with overthrowing a government, he has issue with overthrowing a democracy and later wanting to be elected by one, hence his use of the word irony. Coups in themselves are not what he is complaining about which is why he had no problem with Obasanjo, because Obasanjo was pro democracy, this is about the qualification for ruling in a democracy. Buhari was party to the abuse of a democracy and is therefore unworthy of it is what Wayas is trying ti imply, do you understand?

Before I go and steal something like that and I want you to be the one to use it I will ask you if you will accept because if you refuse it I will have a real issue on my hands, a country without a head of state is a problem. He would certainly get a lighter sentence but he was party to it.

You may not ever agree with me that Buhari was culpable, that is fine but as for what Wayas is saying there is clear indication for why he may have been ok with Obasanjo but not Buhari.

If you steal something and give it to me, taking it makes me an accomplice and party to you deed. Also, those people went to do a coup and they had no planned leader? Really? Demdem: Wayas reasons to me are so silly. This old guy needs to grow up. Nonsense.
Was Obj not part of those that staged a coup here in this country? Didn't he become President afterwards?
Foolish old man keeping malice simply for his own selfish reasons.
This is the problem with Nigerians, what he is saying is that Buhari rejected and ejected a democratically elected government and now he wants to himself be elected democratically, he didn't value democracy when he could disregard it and now he wants the people to elect him. Obasanjo did not overthrow a democratic government rather he stepped aside for one so how is that the same thing? Wayas reason may be silly but you cannot know that since clearly what he is saying escapes you.

Also, from what I have read on Obasanjo he did not overthrow neither Abacha nor Murtala Mohammed so cool of on accusing him of the crimes Buhari committed.
PoliticsRe: Buhari Can’t Be President–Wayas by CROWE: 7:52pm On Feb 15, 2013
Children grow up and their behavior and thought patterns change through different stages of their development, fully formed men don't often change, Buhari was already ~40. Realistically speaking it is very unlikely that Buhari is that much different a person these days, he may be a bit more humble now because he doesn't have the same immunity he had back then.

He overthrew a democratically elected government because he could
He locked people up without evidence for years
The things he did while in power suggest he didn't even know what he was doing, he just disagreed with the previous government and decided to seize power for himself

It doesn't matter whether it was 30 years or 100 years ago, Buhari was a grown man and he took it upon himself to decide to fate of millions on his own whims, he knew exactly what he was getting himself into, he does not deserve the benefit of the doubt and neither you nor anybody has the right to ask Wayas to forgive Buhari until you have spent years in Nigerias prisons.

Your fondness/affection for Buhari is clouding your judgement.
PoliticsRe: Will U Vote Buhari/rochas Ticket (progressives Only)? by CROWE: 6:04pm On Feb 15, 2013
GenBuhari: Buhari had only 20months and in that time:

He paid off our debts

He reduced inflation from 39% to 3 %

He almost completely stamped out corruption.

imprisoned corrupt looters and recovered their loot.

Most importantly his economic policy was designed to put Nigeria's interests first and refused IMF loans and dictates.
How does it make any sense to pay off debts when Nigerians were starving? you pay off when you can afford it.

The first thing IBB did when he overthrew Buhari was to remove Buharis Naira subsidy and it was devalued many times over so that inflation crap is bull, the currency wasn't doing well. Inflation drops by 36% in less than 2 years, wtf kind of miracle is that, if someone goes from a pauper to a billionaire in one week you will know he cut some corners and that is the kind of thing Buhari did, he made the numbers look pretty by force but didn't actually help Nigerians. Don't just look at the numbers, consider what they mean.

It is easy to stamp out corruption when you can execute people all you like without opposition, its unfortunate that there's this thing we have now called a democracy that won't allow it.

Then tell me how Nigerians lives improved under his leadership, the poverty levels, gdp, gdp per capita, things that actually affect Nigerians.

Finally and this is the biggest one, North Korea refuses dictates, I don't think their people are liking life all that much. Refusing dictates is really only commendable if they weren't good dictates, did you bother to find that out of did you just go "ye, our leader preferred pigheaded stewpidity to being told what to do by professionals".

Eziachi: Buhari did not flog your economy-Shagari/Ekwueme-NPN govt did. In fact without Buhari's short govt you would have been Somalia by now, thats a fact.
I am not a believer of one Nigeria, because I believe its a waste of time pitching people that love to hate, inflict pains on each other together in any sort of union.
But having said that, Nigeria doesn't even need an intelligent person to steer it to greatness, but rather, a strong, upright, moral and non corrupt austere person, who is ready to jail his own corrupt mother.
Then every other things can take care of itself and Buhari is not far from those factors, based purely on his past records, as I don't know about now and those around him and the system he will work with too.
Most thing elevelled against Buhari especially by Igbos and the so called SS people is not based on fact or reality but on tribal/religious sentiment. And I don't buy the Yoruba love of him now either, as I think he is just their convenient ladder to climb back to power, after all they had a chance to support him in 2011 but chose to take money from PDP and vote for GEJ and others boycotted the election, except Aregbesola who stuck with Ribadu.
Age is not a license to good performance. Remember Dimeji Bankole, wasn't he younger than you- where is he now? GEJ is young too, he is hardly moving any hills , let alone mountains.
Nigeria is not a dictatorship, you cannot impose your morals on the people anymore and the president cannot lock people up. If you want Buhari to do all the things yoou are saying he needs to become head of EFCC or IG of police, not president. In a democracy a strong upright person is of no use to the nation, what we need is a wise person who knows how to play to Nigerias current situation ad make the country work. Remember that the president does not in law have power over the senate so your strength is useless, you need to know how to play them to get then to do what you want, your mistake is that you still see the head of state as having dictatorial powers and I suspect Buhari will too.
PoliticsRe: Mega Party, APC Runs Into New Trouble by CROWE: 5:46pm On Feb 15, 2013
Maxymilliano: A competent source involved in the formation project revealed to 247ureports.com the difficulties faced by the new mega party. He stated that they pose/threaten to forestall the good willed efforts of the new project.

As gathered, the group of stake holders who were assembled to iron out the workability of the new mega, had estimated the announcement of the party merger will be followed immediately by the announcement of a party chairman and other sensitive positions. But the project suffered derailment owing to power struggle between the northern elements in the merger group and the south west elements.

In particular, it was understood that the stakeholders representing the Congress for Progressive Change – the CPC, the All Nigeria Peoples Party – the ANPP, are determined to produce the presidential candidate for the 2015 presidential elections– while the south west dominated Action Congress of Nigeria – the ACN, appear equally determined to produce the presidential candidate.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Before Fashola was picked up and polished and presented to you by Tinubu, do you know his existence as human on this earth?
You are not suggesting that just like Fashiola a few years ago we should give Buhari a chance are you? Because Buhari already had a chance in the 80's and he royally fugged our economy over. He didn't ask experts for help then, feeling he knew what needed to be done all by himself since he took a course in ITK and he is less likely to do so now that he is a senile old fart. Buhari is not the man to run Nigeria, having a good moral compass like they say he does is not really relevant, he should focus his efforts on influencing the Muslim north to accept peace, unity and harmony with the rest of the country and be a moral leader for them in that regard, it is the only way he can help Nigeria, leave the running of the government to a younger generation of more enlightened men and women.
PoliticsRe: Will U Vote Buhari/rochas Ticket (progressives Only)? by CROWE: 5:46pm On Feb 14, 2013
GAR3TH: The point of a presidential ticket is to choose the candidates with the best skills, knowledge, experience and accolades that will lead the country to prosperity. Citing Buhari just because he is popular makes no sense, especially when you have other candidates in the party that have better leadership skills and have a recorded of good governance and development. Buhari is obsolete so it puzzles me why people keep mentioning him when there are better candidates. Mentioning Buhari just makes APC look desperate to take over power. they rather win based on popularity rather than performance, WHICH IS THE EXACT SAME THING PDP IS CURRENTLY DOING!!!!!!!1
That's great and all but nobody wins elections because they are the most suitable, they win because of fame. Have you seen interviews in other countries, people vote candidates because they like their eyes, they like their smile, they are from so so place. Most people are in all honestly rather ignorant and silly and in this world appearances mean more than substance so your candidate can have all the know-how to get 5hit done but if he ain't the life of the party he is as useful to you as a broken door knob. Follow last years american election, all any candidate offered was propaganda because they knew you don't need to really reason with the voters, all you need to do is influence the fvckwads.

Harsh reality but that's the way it is.

The association isn't apparent and it doesn't come off right, I like Fashiola, I think he is arguably one of our best governors but it is not by force we will refer to everybody by abbreviations or shortforms, some don't work.

masu: This is why the world is a messed up place, dialogue is the solution here, the same america invested in bahamas more than bahamians, how do they manage it, let them manage it the same way.
I am not sure what you mean by that so I cannot be sure you understand what I was saying either.

masu: 2)your second point is laufable, check your facts well bcus long b4 obama texas has been demanding for freedom. but even if they want out bcus of obama if i hav been living hapily in apartment until the new house owner whom i dislike, dnt i hav right to pack out. wat is wrong with human being.
You have a horrible grasp on the metaphor, the implication here is that texans should be allowed to leave the united states not remove the land from it(deny the new owner ownership of your apartment). Texans do not want to leave because of Obama, there are of course a few other reasons why they want to leave, Obama was the "last straw" if you will

"But the response — in which a White House official said the founding fathers established the United States as a “perpetual union” — hardly discouraged the Texas secession movement, which has been simmering for decades but gained momentum after the re-election of President Obama."

Does that work for you?

A better metaphor would be you entered a business deal with somebody, he has spent a lot of money on your end of the deal "as someone said most of the power plants in america are in texas, surely you don't think the state government paid for them by themselves and then there is the interstate roads and other major roadways and projects in Texas like the space station etc" all these things are how your business partner spent money on you for everybody's benefit then when things aren't going to well you want to take your cake along with the part he built up and leave screwing him. does that better explain things for you?

Americans are all immigrants, if you don't like the situation in it just like you said, stop being a tenant, pack up and leave the same way your parents did all those years ago from their respective countries, unless the entire union (all Americans whose tax dollars was used to help build Texas) are ok with the people cutting the nation to bits otherwise they can forget about it and again this is not about freedom.

masu: there is always a weak reason for a dominant to refuse freedom to his captors.
the japanese never knw the value of freedom and how others cherish freedom untill they loose WW2.
And China who knew what it meant to be oppressed in on an endless imperialism campaign in asia now, no relevance here.

its a worldwide thing, though they preach freedom freedom always but they mean slavery.

if texas want out its their choice let them have it.
i hate it when ppl are denied of their human right(freedom).

turn around the tide and see these guys that hold them down crying like baby for freedom too
America is invested in Texas, the land more so than its people. Texas doesn't like Obama so they want to take their cake and go, they cannot be allowed to do that and if the tables were turned Texas wouldn't want other states to leave. This is not about freedom it is about selfishness and irrationality.
