When I compare the professionalism of Indian, pakistan armies to the Nigerian army, I feel sad.

The gap is wide, and these are not even developed countries.

We can build coastal ships for inland and near shore patrols but certainly nothing in that tonnage. How many countries in the world build ships of that size. UAE has positioned itself as a link between East and west and has made massive investments towards that purpose.

How many ships will be built to justify the installed cost?
I dont see how their massive investments has made them a ship building power.
You didn't specify what investments you are talking about.

How did we learn to build coastal ships? From china.
It was not accidental. It was a deliberate policy of people far intelligent than buhari.

Why change what is not broken?
Why not give the contract to china as usual so they can build in china and complete it in lagos .?
It is a win-win.

What does UAE have to offer us?

No wonder the UAE visa for Nigerians is as easy as rice and beans.

And the Burj Khalifa displayed Nigerian flag on 1st January on the order of their govt.

These arabian clowns are milking us to the teeth.

Do you have flat steel or do you want to use iron rods to build a ship twith that size of tonnage?

How many ships are we going to build to justify the installed cost of ship building facility? What happens to the highly skilled staff in between jobs?

Let's criticize with clear well thought ideas that can move us forward.
We already have a ship building faciity in lagos.
It was built for us by china as part of a tech transfer initiative.

WE have also built our own local ships.
The problem is not the foreign country but the country they gave it to.

UAE has nothing to offer us in ship building.
We have an agreement with china that have yielded dividends over the years.

This is a decision precipated by religion and foolishness.

What do you know about UAE?

Are they a military or tech power?
What is their claim to this contract apart from being a muslim country?

What happened to south korea or china that we have been learning from?

wink2015:
Why don't they build in the Ship in the Niger delta region ( Warri, Port Harcourt, Oron, Calabar ) or Lagos where it will create maritime jobs.

Instead they took the job to a foreign country.
A foreign country that is still trying to build its own ship building capability.

They are using us to learn.
Politics › Re: Yusuf Gagdi Inspects Nigerian Navy's New Warship Under Construction In UAE by CSTRR: 10:40am On Jan 09, 2021
Nigeria built these ships thanks to the local content initiatives and tech transfer from china and south korea.
The fruit of a deliberate policy by past presidents most notably Jonathan.

Why is UAE building our ship?

What is the end goal here?

Politics › Re: Yusuf Gagdi Inspects Nigerian Navy's New Warship Under Construction In UAE by CSTRR: 10:36am On Jan 09, 2021
UAE is ranked 45, while Nigeria is ranked 42 in the global fire power ranking of 2020.

Nigeria is ranked as a bigger military power than UAE.

The same UAE that some mallams gave our ship building contract to.

The Next president has a lot of reforms to do.

Before buhari came into power, there was usually tech transfer in ship building where china or the south korean Hyundai heavy built part of our ships and complete the rest in lagos or port harcourt.
And it has helped us in building small ships on our own.

When did this UAE nonsense start?

Are these mallams going to degrade everything that make sense?
Politics › Re: Yusuf Gagdi Inspects Nigerian Navy's New Warship Under Construction In UAE by CSTRR: 10:28am On Jan 09, 2021

UAE that is not a tech or military power?

When Buhari was making inciting statements that resulted in the death of innocent southern corpers in the north, he should have been arrested and prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
He had no immunity, and was a threat to national security.
They should have dragged him to court and throw the book at him with lengthy jail term.

Instead we did not, and those innocent corpers died for nothing.

Buhari supporters will not learn the right lessons here.
Instead, they will take the wrong lessons.

Can Channels TV do that to buhari without consequences from both buhari and his brainless supporters?

Useless govt. This is what you get putting Northerners at the helm. How can you justify spending over $3Billion USD searching for Oil when you have millions of barrels at the sea with no buyers. Now they want to loot some more.
54% of Norway is running on electric vehicles, while Nigeria is still searching for oil.
Why not?
Oil is easier than creating the reforms to bring in tourism.

You can drill oil in militant infested zones, all you need is bribes.

But you can't bring tourism when you have poor infrastructure and zero security.
Diversification is hard work.

Is it the likes of buhari that can do that kind of work?

How do you think Dave Umahi will be able to defeat Atiku for the PDP ticket? Atiku has better and formidable political structure than anybody in the PDP.

Unless, there's a gang-up by the Governors, there is no strong politician in the PDP that can defeat Atiku.
He may have a structure but doesn't mean he will always win the PDP primaries.

There is.always a time for everything, and 2023 is not atiku's time.

Insecurity, and poor tourism policy.

From what I got online from arewa Twitter, Kaduna state is the best northern state.

Even then, it has no attraction to me.

Insecurity, Islamic fundamentalism, don't do well to attract visitors.

Just look at Nigeria's international tourism numbers, compared to Ghana.

It's even rubbing off on the rest of the country.
