Culture / Re: Where Is Oduduwa Really From? by Cuddlebugie(f): 6:13pm On Jul 07, 2017
Back in high school, my Yoruba teacher claimed that the immortal oduduwa descended from the sky with a big chain.... Some Yoruba scholars/historians also claimed that he fell from the sky.

Now, i see a different story.
Culture / Re: I Want To Learn Itsekiri Language (get In) by Cuddlebugie(f): 5:39pm On Jul 07, 2017
Too many loan words up there.
Poster, how many languages or dialects, as the case may be, does Itshekiri share lexicon with?

I believe hyena is "Aja-Igbo" in Yoruba, I'm not really sure what awurebe means but I will find out and get back to you.
Ok。。。。。。
I think its a coinage (I may be wrong, though).
Let me know when you eventually find out its etymology and meaning.
I heard the word in one Yoruba classic apala and i've wanted to know its meaning since then.

What is it about pregnancy that makes women hanker for things (food) that aren't theirs? Can we blame the 'ant-eye' on the hormones?

My dear, the handwriting on the wall is clear enough for you to see, don't kid yourself. That guy never loved you. He just wanted between your legs. To him, you were a 'must have', so, he employed the masculine wiles to sweep you off your feet . Now that he's had enough of you, he tactically discharged you. USE YOUR TONGUE TO COUNT YOUR TEETH

There is nothing weird in those names and they are really lovely names with good meanings.

Tanwa or Omotanwa : Means the child we have been looking for . It's most likely that she's the first female of the family after many combatant boys.
Well, i think the name is ........... an anomaly, so to say. I've never heard or seen someone go by the name 'Emiloju'. I only know its a catchphrase in Yoruba..........
It's all relative, isn't it?

Orisirisi has multiple meanings. The poster above has already provided you with some words 'orisirisi' translates to. However, for you to get the true meaning of the word , i think you have to state the context in which the word was used.
Culture / Re: #WCW: Are Women Really Their Own Worst Enemies? by Cuddlebugie(f): 7:03pm On Jul 05, 2017
This erroneous belief that women go out of their ways to make one another’s lives miserable needs to be corrected. Contrary to biased opinions, most women aren’t busy plotting and scheming how to ruin/wreck lives, rather, we support one another. We aren't catty, neither are we obsessively jealous of one another. There is enough success to go round.

BTW, why is this in the culture section?

There are friends and there are acquaintances. You can't be friends with someone you have nothing in common with. After all, friendship is formed through common interests. If you are a sheep, you cannot feel comfortable being in a pig's pen and If you feel comfortable in a pig pen, then it is probably because you are a pig.

Nas: Loco-Motive. At seventeen I made seventeen thousand living in public housing Integrity intact, repping hard They asking how he disappear and reappear back on top Saying Nas must have naked pictures of God or something To keep winning is my way like Francis As long as I’m breathing, I’ll take chances A soldier comin' home, twenty years old with no legs Sayin' there’s no sense to cry and complain, just go head So much to write and say, yo I don’t know where to start So I’ll begin with the basics and flow from the heart.....
