Ok, will do. Thanks.
LiteratureRe: Nairaland's "The Poet" Competition Season 2 by Cuddlemii(op):
Ibime: This is all very confusing.

Is this a poetry or a design contest?

Let the poets do their job jare and go open a seperate competition for designers.

I wouldn't mind penning a few lines if not for the silly design element which just complicates matters.
Hi Ibime, thank you for your post. Now, let me market my idea to you. grin

We all know the traditional way of writing poetry is the way you want it.

But, we are trying to persuade and convince even the most reluctant readers.

We are trying to be creative and innovative.

Not only book writers should be pampered with cover-pages.

Poets deserve that attention too.

Besides, the design component is only in ROUND 2.

This is also a way to challenge the designers,
to go out of their tech routines, and do something more tender and emotional.

So please, we would be honored to have your poem, and test your team work skills with a designer.

Thank you!

riskit33: Hey Cuddle this is really a masterpiece. I'm a lover of innovations. So i'm definitely in! But wait a minute shouldn't there be some sort of guideline concerning the size of the poem to be submitted. I mean like how many words are we expected to write or not exceed? All the same it's a great work you'r doing! Bestiees
For the first round, we want to be as flexible as possible.

Now that you've mentioned it, the second round may include these guidelines.

The topic release for round 2 will include guidelines(expectations)

The official deadline is August 14th at 12am.

But, we wont mind having them in by August 13th, to speed things up.

Ayatullah: @moderator, why hide my post? You could just let me know you do not value my prizes, then I'll make better offer. I believe in rewarding 'brainees', I am not joking shocked
Hi.

Please, when your post is hidden, and you seek clarification, you can always do so, using the complaints thread. Sometimes, it is a mistake, or triggered by the use of inappropriate words. No one would just hide your post, just like that. I do like the reward thingy, it's very thoughtful of you. Thanks.

ayd91: pardon me, does this mean we aren't allowed to submit already published works (internet and print)? If this is so, its a bit unfair to those who have published the best of their works. And can a compromise be reached if the participant can show adequate proof of ownership?
It is okay. If it's your published work(print and internet), it is fine.

Thanks.

bibiking7: I have got a couple of questions. lemme make them as plain as possible.
1. Are the poems safe? peeps might take the stuffs writen here and use it somewhere else. 2. Authentication. Do you have peeps that will verify that contestants really wrote their stuffs and did not just borrow online. 3. call me slow grin, but from what was written, each person will need like 4 poems. (just need to confirm).

And as for those wey wan contest. I get one tricky question. Will you use your best poem in the 1st stage or last.
Hi bibi,

Thank you for your questions. Nice name you've got there wink

1. Yes, I would like to believe the poems are safe. But, life itself is a risk. This whole process involves risk, too.

2. As per verification, it might not be doable for the first round.
Where exactly are we supposed to submit the poems to?
Two ways:
1. Post it on the official thread of the competition
2. Send it to the official email of the competition

Just one poem is needed for the first round.

Thanks

kizaronto: The girl must be a dull and irresponsible fellow, otherwise she would not want to have anything in common with that irresponsible man.
Lol, like responsible men are much in Nigeria?

Maybe, she has been searching for a responsible guy to marry, and hasn't been lucky.

Pastor had a better offer, a mouthwatering deal she couldn't refuse/resist. cheesy

Anyways its not a biggie but i was just wondering why someone would have to go to that length or maybe my clone changed it.
Oh sorry about that. I am not aware of this. It must have been some kind of mistake.

But next time, just use the modify button. wink I will make enquiries on your behalf, and ensure it doesn't happen again.

No problem. I am always inquisitive too
LiteratureRe: Nairaland's "The Poet" Competition Season 2 by Cuddlemii(op): 6:08pm On Jul 04, 2013
luvmijeje: Why don't you want to respond to individual comment? So who is suppose to respond, to suggestions and questions when it arises?
Usually when I organize activities like this, I respond to every single comment.
But, I realized it wasn't so easy.
So, the new method is to look at all the comments, collate them and address them using the general feedback.
By the way, the description of the competition is very descriptive. If you have other questions, let me know, myself or HBG can help.

These are all general feedback. These should clear the doubts.

But are we to look for our designers or you would bring a list of designers for us to pick from? *following*
I am not supposed to answer individual comments. But, I would oblige, just this once to clear the doubt.

No, you won't look for designers, but, we would pair you up with the fantastic designers we have.

Thank you!

Orikinla: I am impressed.
Believe it or not, this is unprecedented in Nigeria. And Fidelity Bank Plc may want to be part of this competition since the bank is the leading supporter of Nigerian literary culture.
Send the bank a proposal to sponsor a prize for the winner.

Two thumbs up!
Thank you for your suggestion, I appreciate it.
But, please, I am only focusing on organizing the competition. Sponsorship can wait.
Probably if, I had my own blog for online events, I would have explored that option.
For now, please, let us focus on promoting writers, and enjoy the experience.

FEEDBACK

Officials Update: HumbledbyGrace, Assistant Judge & Coordinator (Trainee cool)
It is good to have a foreigner as part of the team, to create the balance.
Besides, more officials would make things easier and orderly.

Topic Release Schedule: the list would be out on the 11th of July, 2013.
This would give members ample time to prepare in advance.

Advantages:
-By the time you qualify to round 2, you wouldn't need to bother about writing afresh.
-You would probably just need to review and edit.
-You would have time to connect with your teammate(the designer)

Reminder: please, start working on your poems for stage 1.
The sooner the better. You don't need any guidelines from me for that.

@everyone: thank you for your interest and contribution.

Topics:
-just a reminder that the first stage of the competition requires you to submit your own poems.
Any title! Any style! Must be your original write-up!
-don't fuss too much about the topics I am releasing. That part of the competition is due in the second round.

Response Time:
I won't reply every comment.
But, I would collate the comments and provide general solutions/replies using the the Feedback mechanism.
90% of the time, the questions have been asked before. Read all feedback posted by me.
