Bank stocks are too risky for such long term investments. I remember Intercontinental, Oceanic, Finbank etc and even skye that held lots of promise had good fundamentals anf paid good dividend, the only took a short while to deteriorate. Bad management is something that can easily happen and destroy a company in less than a year(if you doubt me ask FBNH) banks are too volatile. As for oil stocks, no one knows whether oil will still be relevant in 18yrs. So if u want long term, just buy land.

where is the efficiency for a bank that had to make a provision of 57B for loan impairment charges..
if not for the Revaluation of Forex...they would have made a massive loss...infact this is a very poor result

57b impairment charges is a red flag for discerning investors in GTB, value investors will think twice before investing in a company with a deteriorating assets.

So market don bad reach like this?#1,000,000 at 13% for 365 days is not bad but i cant try it......Even at the worst days of the stock market,people are still making money........Even if i am afraid of every stock now, i rather buy40,000 units of GTB at #25 ...........leave it for 365 days,i will get more than what i will get for that fixed deposit........The decision is left for the guy to make.........For me o......i will throw the money into the market.

Dangote flour has powerful 2016 final year result, (with higher EPS) and they started this year with another powerful q1 result.
Their q2 2017 will be superb and may likely come with declaration of interim dividend.
Their today market price was fantastic @#4.08, which was highly on fill offer before bouncing back to #4.18 closing price.
It will likely move above #6 (50 percent) before and after q2, which is between July 1 and july 31 (30 days or 1 month releasing of companies result mandate giving by SEC to the quoted companies, Q2 ends every June 30, and the companies result must be release within 1 month after June, been the month of July).
