BusinessNigerian Tomato Plant To Close, In Public Embarrassment For Buhari – Reuters by cuteboy2(op): 7:56pm On Nov 04, 2016
Reuters: ONITSHA, Nigeria Nov 3 (Reuters) – A Nigerian tomato paste plant said on Thursday it is shutting down, firing 1,500 staff and moving abroad as it is unable to obtain the hard currency it needs to operate, in a public embarrassment for President Muhammadu Buhari and his plan to diversify the economy.

Buhari, elected last year on a ticket to fix a country mismanaged for decades, frequently talks about ending the country’s dependency on oil exports by boosting local food production, repeating his mantra: “We must produce what we eat”.

His wife Aisha attended the February launch of the Erisco tomato processing plant in the commercial capital Lagos, hailed by officials as the start of a new era that would end the costly business of importing tomato paste, a staple food in Nigeria.

But eight months later the firm is abandoning the West African country – and openly criticizing the government and central bank in a strongly worded public letter to Buhari for failing to support it.

Erisco has been forced “against our wish to create jobs in foreign lands due to the evil and wicked desires of unpatriotic Nigerians who frustrate every effort we have made to genuinely create jobs and grow our economy,” founder Eric Umeofia said in the letter, published in the newspapers on Thursday.

“CBN (the central bank) refused to give us forex to import machineries, machine spare parts and raw materials to be used for processing of Nigerian fresh tomatoes into tomato paste in our Lagos factory,” he said.

He said the central bank had even banned the firm from using its own hard currency deposits of $460,000.

The presidency and the central bank could not immediately be reached for comment.

The central bank has effectively banned the import of 700 types of goods including machines and raw materials to offset a massive loss in oil revenue, the country’s lifeline.

The bank has also kept the naira at an artificially high rate versus the dollar to avoid another devaluation, which entrepreneurs say has deterred investors. Buhari has repeatedly spoken out against devaluing the naira.

Erisco said it had hoped the government would support it by banning imports of tomato paste, as it had done in the past with cement or some fruits to help Nigerian manufacturers.

“Your Excellency Sir, you may wish to know that Erisco Foods Limited is the only tomato processing company that is using Nigeria’s fresh and dry tomatoes as the major raw material to produce tomato paste till date,” Umeofia told Buhari in the letter.

The company has accumulated losses of 3.6 billion naira ($11.8 million), he said. ($1 = 304.2500 naira) (Writing by Ulf Laessing; Editing by Hugh Lawson)

3. Electricity

Also, the president assured that the matter of epileptic power supply was one he had plans to fix before he left office. He said he would surely solve the country’s perennial electricity problem. This promise is in tandem with the statements he made in March 2016, when he said: “In the three years left for this administration we have given ourselves the target of ten thousand megawatts distributable power. In 2016 alone, we intend to add two thousand megawatts to the national grid.” Meanwhile, only yesterday, Monday, October 24, President Buhari met with governors who are members of the All Progressives Congress (APC). The meeting took place at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
I hope someone is taking note of this grand promises.

1. 10,000MW by May 2019
2. 6,000MW by Dec 2016.

December 2016 is just 3 months from now. He met 4,000MW. so we should expect additional 2,000MW of stable by Dec 2016.
We shall not accept "technical megawatt" from Lai Mohammed oooooo

President Buhari has revealed some key things he will fix before leaving office. While speaking at a meeting with the director, Global Upstream of Shell Oil Company at the State house, Abuja, on Tuesday, October 25, he revealed these three key things.

1. Accountability

During the meeting President Buhari made it clear that his determination to return Nigeria to the “good old days of accountability” was still on track. He also said that he would make sure all public office holders in Nigeria are held accountable. This has been shown in his continued war against corruption. President Buhari gave the reason for his tough stance on corruption and accountability, saying: “It is only by doing this that investor morale and confidence will return, and the economy will be positioned on the path of growth.”

2. Niger Delta

As part of the meeting which included the Shell company’s concern with security of oil infrastructure in the Niger-Delta. the president urged them that militancy in the Niger Delta was another thing he would fix before he left office. He commended the Shell company for their continued faith in the Nigerian economy, giving them assurances on some issues of concern raised by the company. He then assured that his government would continue to prioritize security and also dialogue with the stakeholder-communities in the Niger Delta will continue. He also called for continued protection by the Nigerian Navy in view of repeated threats of attack by militants.

I only note three words from Buhari:

1. will
2. would
3. intend

BornStunner1:
FACTS ABOUT THE YORUBAS AKA AFONJAS
( 1 ) . Their story of
kingship began with Edo
prince and the Benin
recorded History .
( 2 ) . Ayayi crawder said,
little were know about
yoruba existence,
meaning they were not
part of Nigeria of today
boarder or were in small
settlement close to
dahomy. yoruba are half
muslims and those with
African traditions copied or got them from Benin
civilization . I doubt if they not immigrants from dahomy
mix with Benins or other fulani- hausa from Niger
. Bishop Samuel Adjayi Crowther (c . 1809 – 31
December 1891 ) Was the first African Anglican bishop
in Nigeria . Born in Osogun (in today's Iseyin Local
Government, Oyo State , Nigeria ) . His grandson was
Herbert Macaulay
( 3 ) . Yoruba have dublicity of kingship with the process
highly politized to being traditional . A system they try
copy from Benin but can 't get it real like the Benin
Kingdom. Edo Obaship is one of the most revered
institutions in the world because of the way it has
sustained its awesome prestige with strict and
meticulous attention to ancient traditions of valour ,
discipline and integrity . Edo chieftaincy titles cannot be
bought or conferred on non- indigenes or frivolously .
Every Edo chief performs a peculiarly sacred duty
and responsibility to the people of Edo. It does not make
sense , therefore , to think that a people who would not
and have never conferred their chieftaincy titles on non-
indigenes, would voluntarily invite , accept, or surrender
to non- indigenes as their kings . Due to celestial
origins , the Edo monarch cannot eat out and cannot be
diverted from full time palace duties to hustle
for contracts .
( 4 ) . Most of today
yoruba religion are
Benin Origin , Olokun ,
Ogun , Iha oguega (ifa ) ,
oronmila, Esago
(shango ) , Ayelala etc .
Many Benin traditions
and spirituality are
stillfully documented by
yorubas in high places
as YORUBA ? (Never mind the Edo man ' s christian
mindset quickly dening Edo have niothing to do with
African traditional religion , agreeing they are foriegn to
Edoland . . . LIE ) .
Although the Great Edo ( Benin ) Kingdom were not major
participants in the trans- Atlantic slave trade , because
the Obas (Kings ) believed that their subjects were too
valuable to sell away , and their noblemen had need of
war captives on their own farms , the influence of Edo
religion and medicine has still been substantial upon
the people of the Americas .
According to Mason (1996 ) , it has been widely
accepted that Olokun ( god of the sea ) worship
originated with the Edo and spread to the Yoruba ( p. 2) .
In fact, the most prominent part of Edo cultural
traditions that has made its mark in the New World is
Olokun worship. Olokun (god of the Waters ) worship
originated from Urhonigbe and then became prominent
at Ughoton around the Ethiope ( Olokun) River . The
priesthood and rituals were firmly established at the
time . Some of the possible points of contact happened
early. During the Ogiso Period , trade with the Yoruba
and Igbos was quite extensive. Olokun worship may
have spread to those areas through traders . Prior to the
Oba Period , Ekaladerhan Izoduwa was initiated into
Olokun as a chief Priest while he stayed at Ughoton ,
before his moving westward with his followers to
establish Ilefe ( Ero , 1999 , p . 108- 109) .
Once he arrived , Ekaladerhan Izoduwa brought Edo
traditions to those areas and was a King of his new
community called Ilefe , which could be what yoruba call
IFE. . From Ekaladerhan Izoduwa ’ s loins , the Yoruba
dynasties may have began. However, it is certain that
Olokun is an Edo divinity whose worship spread to the
outlying Yoruba areas.
Very classic. Very well researched.
However on your point nr 2 the name of the Anglican priest is Rev Ajayi Crowther

This thread is completely false. No dime is being paid to anybody in fulfillment of any campaign promise.

Look at that first picture carefully. That is a nurse at IDP camp taking vital signs and attending to widows and children.
Do nurses pay out money? Have you seen any cash anywhere in that picture?

God's anger will surely kindle against all those who are:

- Stealing food meant for these poor widows and children

- Diverting trailer loads of relief material (rice, beans, blankets, medicine, etc) meant for IDP camps

- Awarding fictitious grass contracts of N270million in IDP camps, and pocketing the money

- Misappropriating funds donated by aid agencies to look after those people and then generating fake news that they are being paid N5k stipends

PoliticsBuhari Creates Billionaires Through Forex Subsidy - Emir Of Kano by cuteboy2(op): 11:20am On Oct 07, 2016
The Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi II, has insinuated that President Muhammadu Buhari's administration has created more billionaires in the past months.
Speaking at the 15th Joint National Council on Developmental Planning meeting in Kano, Sanusi said: “We have created our own billionaires since 2015 from foreign exchange subsidy.”

Continuing, Sanusi said: “For instance, when the CBN was selling dollar at N197 and people were buying at N300, if I sit down in my garden and pick up my phone I would have enough people to call in the industry to get 10 million dollars at officials rate and sell at N300 and make a profit of over N1bn and if I do that four times in a year. For doing nothing I would have earned N4bn.

“And people were telling us that this policy was to help the poor. We should not devalue because if we do the poor people would suffer.
“… People that were profiting from this were the ones telling the government that if you devalue people would suffer; meanwhile they all got the dollar at N197 and price their goods at N300.
“The poor paid the price of the devalued currency and the rich schemed up the profits and it went on for one year and we talked and talked and talked.

“If the present administration continues to behave the way the immediate past government behaved, we will end up where Jonathan ended. You may not like it but that is the truth,” he said.

The Emir also added that no one needs to be an economist to realise that any system that allows someone to make N1 billion profit through a phone call without investing a dime is a wrong system and is not sustainable.
The former Governor of CBN also warned that if wise investments isn't used to expand the Nigeria's economy, it might be heading for worse.
“If we do not expand the economy through wise investment, we can end up in classical Malthusian situation,” said Sanusi.

The Emir has been giving tips and ideas on how the Nigerian economy can bounce back from its current economic state following the declaration of recession by the Federal Government.
